Go to settings>applications>and security...enable the check mark for "untrusted apps"
There is no option for settings under my accessories
Did you check "unknown sources" under setting, applications?

When I try to launch titanium backup, it says I am not rooted, even though superuser is installed and operational. When I try to install the plug in (I forgot the name) it stays at 100%. Any advice?
This happened to me when I rooted mine as well. The solution I found was "if Titanium Backup doesn't recognize your phone as being rooted, just reboot the phone a few tiimes".
This worked for me. I rooted, rebooted, installed Titanium, it said I was not rooted, rebooted, launched Titanium, it said I was not rooted, rebooted, launched Titanium, and everything was fine from then on.
Try it out!

Which method of root did you use? OneClick or aRoot? If you used OneClick then it might be a problem with busybox being installed twice, aRoot fixes that.

I'm rooted with superoneclick with no problems and have used titanium to backup/restore previously, but after freezing some bloat using the recommended list I am getting a warning in titanium that I need to go into my applications settings and tick the unknown sources checkbox. I've got usb debugging and mock locations checked, but am still getting this. The warning says that my system settings are preventing me from restoring apps. Any ideas?
I just got it to work! All it took was a reboot.
I'm receiving "Your systems settings will prevent you from restoring application. To correct this, go to you phone's Settings, then in "Application" and tick the "Unknown Sources" checkbox."
The only problem is... I don't see that check box. Any help?

I've read that option is available on other devices and that the equivalent option on the atrix is "mock locations" under the Applications -> Development settings; however, I've got that ticked as well but to no success.
To test, I uninstalled Angry Birds and then used Titanium to restore even though I'm getting the warning above. The restore runs but then pops up a warning stating "This application comes from an unknown source, and for your security only applications from trusted sources can be installed." With that the restore fails.
ps. I am rooted with superoneclick with enable non-market apps applied. I've recently frozen some bloatware but only items on the recommended list from these forums.
Hi all, I noticed that after making the root on the phone and check the option "allow non market apps" of SuperOneClick, when trying to install an application from the official market is in "starting download" several minutes before giving error downloads.
He returned to make factory reset and before the operation "allow non market apps I tested the market and it works right, I perform the" allow non market apps "and stop working again.
Please can someone help me with this??
Thanks and regards.
a simple reboot should solve this.
There have also been reports of issues downloading market apps over wifi with an active data connection. If you're downloading over wifi, try disabling it and just downloading it over data, see if it works.
Well I tried it with wifi and data connection off and still giving me "download paused " or "starting download".
I have also tried to download the data connection and wifi off getting the same result.
And I restarted the phone several times without any result.
This happens to me right after SuperOneClickv1.6.5 used to allow applications outside the market.
Any ideas??
Thanks and regards.
Just unboxed my Nook Tablet yesterday. v1.4.0. I’ve been unable to get any APK to load that will give me the “allow unknown sources” settings options.
I’ve tried about 20 different apk’s (from Amazon, Market, and 3rd parties).
I’ve tried downloading them, I’ve tried loading them off the sd card.
I’ve tried loading with sd card installed and not installed.
I’ve tried installing with wifi on and off…I get the same options/error each time.
When I launch the apk, I get a window that says “Complete action using” App Installer or Package Installer. App installer gives the “archive and unarchive” message. Package Installer gives the “parsing error” message.
Any suggestions how to get the “allow unknown sources” in the Settings Menu Thanks!

well this is a last resort, try doing a full factory reset (push the n and power buttons simultaneously right after the black splash screen when the NT boots up)
do that for 8-10 times and it will initiate a full factory reset, this way you start off with a completely stock NT.
Hope this helps!
I would try Anycut or brianf21 's settings app ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400615 ) before you factory reset. Hopefully one of these can get you to the settings menu that you need.
No luck with the NThiddenSettings apk...it was treated just like all the other apk's...can't get past "archive and unarchive" error message.
Since it is only a few days old, I don't have much to loose with a factory reset, but I'd like to exhaust all other options before going down that path.
Research and reading continues...
Did you open your web browser and googled "full root nook tablet"?
It'll take you to,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487
Click on the link,
http://li362-167.members.linode.com/gapps/non_google/tgps_launcher.apk
Open it as package installer or something like that. You'll see option for unknown source.

Success! Thank you!
hi guys,
i have a problem with my xperia u. i am unable to install apps from unknown sources. i have checked the " unknown sources" option in the settings. when i copy the app in my phone and try to install it, the install option doesnt get pressed. cancel works perfectly. kindly help me.
a friend of mine has an Xperia Z3 imitation. his phone has app like netalpha, key chain and others with funny names installed. thing is, they are installed as system apps. cant uninstall them. the phone does not connect to a pc. it simply charges when plugged. tried resetting it but the apps are not erased. rooting using Kingoroot failed and phone is unusable.
Adds pop up all over the [lace and when it has mobile data or wifi turned on, it downloads and installs apps silently though i have noted that one app "com.google.keyguard" asks for install permision. any ideas???
kindly assist.
My uncle had the same infections symptoms except he got GNote3 and all i did was to use CM Security apps to remove all those nasty malware. Hope it helps.
Root the device using the following method and then remove all those apps using super su
[WARNING : I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK]
1. Download the file XperiaRoot_ALP.zip to your smartphone or computer from this link
https://yadi.sk/d/
and extract the zip file.
2. Open the folder you extracted, called XperiaRoot, and you will see an ALP folder that contains the following .apk files: Busybox, Recovery, Root, and SuperSU. A folder named XperiaRoot will be generated. If you unzipped the archive on your computer, you'll have to transfer the extracted files somewhere on your smartphone.
3. Go to your smartphone's Settings > Security menu and check the the option to install applications from Unknown sources.
4. Install the Root.apk file. Open the app and tap on the ‘Root’ button, then wait for it to root your device.
5. Install the Busybox.apk and Recovery.apk files in the same way.
6. Open the installed Recovery app and tap ‘Install Recovery’.
7. Boot into Recovery mode! First, power off your device. Then, press the Power on button, and when the LED light starts flashing, press the volume up or down buttons a couple of times. If that doesn't work, reboot, activate USB Debugging on your phone, and use Minimal ADB or ADB from the Android SDK to reboot the handset into recovery mode by typing "adb reboot recovery" inside the terminal.
8. Once you are into recovery mode, select Install and choose the SuperSU.zip file from the ALP folder.
9. Reboot your phone after flashing. You will see SuperSU app in App drawer, and the next step is to check for root access by using any Root Checker app from the Play Store.
All the best

Yes i did disable them, here is the list of the apps i disabled:
Android SystemWebview
AppManage (X2)
Avatar
BeautySnap
EmailService
Google Play Store (because it auto runs and downloads apps)
GuardService
Homescreen tips
Keychain
Kiwi
LocationServices
netalpha(x3)
org.rain.ball.update
org.snow.down.update
PhoneService
SettingService
SystemLocker
Wolf
Most of app in the list above have version numbers "1.0" or something like that, which is diff from the 4.xx on authentic apps in the phone.

it should direct you to supersu. else' try to install supersu.apk from other sources and clear its data to reset to default settings. it is x-bo right? x-bo's phone has supersu binary and it is in debug build.
Bought an dirt cheap Mi3 from a local tech forum via postage. Turned out it had a locked bootloader, not rooted and was laced with malware as system.. it was displaying ads/apps.. Fast forward.. This is how I solve my malware problem for the moment.. To temporarily CURE your device, install/sideload both Secdroid and DNS66 from fdroid/play. Firstly, turn on airplane mode, secure phone with Secdroid using its 2nd option. Lastly, start DNS66 and let it run at boot. This solved my problem and I've never seen any ad/app after. Phone's cool and data's back normal..
i had the same problem on a chinese phone, I had the "Geocode Service" trojan, anyway, I managed to disable it.
try removing the battery from the phone (if this is possible, I know the battery should be built in, but there is a connector that can be removed if you remove that black tape that covers the battery) when plugging into the PC, maybe it will enter in the correct mode

Xperia clone ? Its a Mediatek phone.
First Factory Reset... And do not connect to internet (WIFI,Data, etc)
Try to disable Netalpha. (setting-Apps..... )
Root with Kingroot or Kingoroot PC versions ( but need Debug Mode active in phone ), install Link2Sd and freeze suspicious apps (apps with two names) and try to unisntall.
Netalpha app itself install with system permission. So cannot be unistalled even with root. I instal Busybox and change permission and attributes and rm the file.
I hope helps
Sorry for my english.....
