CMSGS Developers needed

So I had always heard that we would see CM development ramp up after the 2.2 source was out. I went over to http://cmsgs.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Main_Page to see how things were going. This place is almost dead except for git updates and a little irc discussion. I was thinking it may just be because so few of the developers on XDA know about CMSGS. Well its a project to put AOSP builds of cyanogen on SGS phones like the Vibrant. If you dont know about the project head over and stur up some conversation, and maybe some code.

On a serious note, I think everybody really does know about Cyanogenmod (CM7) and if they had the capabilities and want to do so, they would be helping. I knew about CM before I discovered XDA. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding, the reason CM7 is a slow going process right now is that the source to the drivers have not been released... That is unless the latest source release contains those...

Do you have a vibrant? Stupid question I know but its confusing when you have Nexus One and G1 on you signature. Anyhow how do you make a signature lol sorry? Well hopefully more people help the dev thats porting CM7.
A good CM6 isn't even out yet. Hence I see the purpose for it since the source code is out. Who cares about some broke ass CM7. We will have to wait months if ever the source code comes out for gingerbread on the vibrant. I see no point trying to port the CM7 to the vibrant at all. I do see a lot of sense to get a nice clean running CM6, hence the post is a good one.

We don't NEED source for CM7. Considering almost no phones have Gingerbread source, they wouldn't even be working on CM7 like they are if this was a deal breaker. You know the saying "don't knock it 'till you've tried it"? Maybe you should adhere to this as CM7 actually runs pretty well on the Vibrant already.
Now, to respond to the OP. I realize a lot of people were expecting some change in development speed for CM7 with the release of source, but there was no reason for this. Nothing has changed or should change. The source we have now is barely applicable if at all to CM7.
Honestly, though, if you look at the list of bugs, it's not that long or severe. The only real non-issue issue is the complicated installation, which they have no reason to improve until they're satisfied with the rom.

Go to the i9000 android development forums, it will explain everything.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Or go to the Vibrant General section for some more CM7 info..
@dumdidum on twitter said he ordered a Vibrant so Im sure he will help port it to the Vibrant once he receives it.
they already started adding the vibrant to the source the other day but i been running it fine from the i9000 plus what scrizz said for the modem and a toggle headset widget

I think thats a good place to start, i would prefer CM6over any existing vibrant rom (sorry not a insult to existing roms)
If their were any dev's that really wanted CM on their Vibrant it would have been done by now or there is something that is really holding them back. I don't know why anyone would want to lose functionality for a little extra speed. Side by side CM7 on the Nexus S is almost identical to the Vibrant running BionixV, why would you want to give up video codec's and a better UI for that? I would love to get Bionix V on my Nexus over CM or stock Gingerbread any day.
I use to see Cyanogen as a god of android back when I had the G1. His ROM was the ONLY thing I ever put on my G1.
I know that the Cyanogen team really only does a lot with HTC handsets since HTC is AWESOME with giving out the source to their drivers. And I was so hoping to see it on my Vibrant, but in all honesty I've given up the dream of seeing a stable build for the Vibrant.
Samsung don't play nice like HTC with what sources they release so I know it's tough for CM team go get a 100% stable rom for Vibrant.
The devs we have here that do make roms for our phones are the greatest. Team Whiskey, Team Einherjar, Eugene, Master... They all do such great work and also calaborate and make my Vibrant so awesome and sleek. So honestly I am not holding my breath for a stable and easy to install CM Mod ROM for our phones. Tho I would like to see one, I'm totally happy with the ROMS we do have to pick from..
Anyways, Good luck to all of you devs who are working on porting CM over or working on an actual CM ROM for our phones.
But for now, I'm loving those ROMS we do have.
Ill help as soon as I can get a new motherboard for my pc

Im working on building a update.zip from CM source, but i cant promise ill succeed as there isnt a lot of documentation for this device due to the lack of people working on this branch of cyanogen. If i get a flashable update ill post it, maybe that will inspire someone who can actually dev and not just build existing source code.
Okay this is where im stuck, its a documentation issue look at http://cmsgs.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Build_CyanogenMod_for_Samsung_Vibrant#Configure_Build
when i get to lunch cyanogen_vibrant-eng i get this error
Code:
build/core/product_config.mk:190: *** _nic.PRODUCTS.[[device/samsung/vibrant/full_vibrant.mk]]: "build/target/product/full_base.mk" does not exist. Stop.
** Don't have a product spec for: 'cyanogen_vibrant'
** Do you have the right repo manifest?
Im sure its a simple config fix, if someone can figure this out and update the code or the wiki we may have fixed the one part of the build process that scares devs away. Im too stupid to fix this
Moved of: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant Android Development
To: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant Q&A
Please put your questions to: Vibrant Q&A
Ill b up and running soon working on a vibrant specific build once I'm completely done with ToXic 1.0 =3

The End of Eris?

I had to post this because the only to working roms are the Gingerbread ones and thats it. Did all the developers stop working on their roms and moved on? or can we expect updates on their exsisting roms?
There are some really good roms out there and it seems as though the Eris is coming to an end.
Hmmm the only two working roms are the Gingerbread ones? I beg to differ....
It seems like most of the froyo roms have been updated around mid-late January.. I didn't know a few weeks was the end of our eris' lives! Your right though, in the sense that CM7 is now the new popular choice, and subsequently the most updated/talked about roms. Also alot of our devs have moved on to different phones and only drop by occasionally here to maintain their work and lend an expert hand

xtrROM was just updated to version 5 a couple of weeks ago. CELB gets updated every few weeks. My guess is that Workshed and Tazz are concentrating on GB rather than Froyo these days, though I think Tazz is still working on the Froyo Sense build.
I think that Froyo has matured, obviously Eclair has as well, and obviously Gingerbread is getting a lot of attention right now.
Tazz is still updating his Froyo rom's, workshed is still updating his Froshedyo build, punk.kaos is still updating his froyo build as well as his GB build. New themes and complete theme roms are being built for cm7 AND cm6 constantly. Just gotta check the forums frequently and watch for updates. There's actually quite a bit of action going on in the Eris forums now a days, on the CM6 side as well as CM7. Also I am about to have a CM6 rom in the works.
Tazz and Workshed are perfecting their CM7 roms at the moment but are still dedicated to their CM6 roms too. There are some amazing devs here at the Eris forums that are working hard through sickness and all kinds of personal issues to give the people what they want. The 1st post is kind of like an insult to their work. Don't give up on them, they just have a lot on their plate right now.
Oh no don't get me wrong, I love my Eris. I do like the new GB roms its basically the same style and it makes it confusing which one to load on the phone. Zenexp, Energyexpress, tenzoRCmix those roms I wish were updated too. Especially those roms with apps2sd which makes it better for the Eris being that the Eris doesn't have lots of space.
But I understand these Dev's working hard to ensure that our phone become part of the whats new in the market on other phones. I commend their hard work.
just fyi both the gingerbread roms now have app2sd and cache2cache working. also, tazz had commented recently in his gingerbread thread about working on the camera for froyo sense.
Any of the 2.1 roms have been taken as far as they can go.
The 2.2 ROMs are almost 100% perfect... so no reason to update.
2.3 ROMs make the most sense.

OR... you could take those ol 2.1 roms and with the permission of their respected devs, and work on them yourself. Use the android kitchen to change some stuff n tweak it around. Then maybe YOU sir can update them for US!

He doesn't seem to be. KF last update was two months ago, and his GB ROM hasn't been updated since Jan 10. I'm not complaining about it at all, but he seems to be spending a lot of time working on his Fascinate ROMs right now.
I think Conap, Workshed, Tazz, Tenzo, and Zach.xtr are the developers most actively working on Eris ROMs right now.
Not so fast, Ranger Rick! They're developing on MANY levels. The Eris is still a big deal, okay? Okay
And now there is another new dev on here..... ME ! Put up my 2.2 rom a few days ago !

Started working on a CM7 build yesterday as well and should have it done by the end of the week hopefully !!!!
Thanks for the feedback guys. I didn't mean to sound like a jack, but you're right about the roms. I would love to create my own or better yet take a rom and change to my liking. But don't know how. These roms you guys make are awesome but its like I always want more and always love new updates or new roms.
I'm good with PSCS4 but not coding or even trying to create a rom. I would love to learn and create my own or mod someone elses rom. How?
I think that first learning app creation might be a good place to start, get the basics of programming down. Then try to go deeper with a ROM. Idk, maybe that's just my own idea. I personally am kind of in the process od learning Java coding to make apps and have a few ideas for apps. The developer of one of my favorite apps called Ethereal Dialpad is helping me learn. He suggested Processing. Seems easy enough.

Check out this post bro, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756775
As long as you follow it step by step and don't do anything wrong it's actually kind of easy. Once I got everything installed and running it took me about 2 days to get my own 2.2 rom up and working (very fast and stable if I might add lol) which is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963722
Now I'm working on a CM7 GingerBread rom for the Eris which will hopefully be done by the end of this week. Main thing you need to do is download the Oracle Virtual Machine and install Ubuntu on it. That first link I posted tells you how to do everything ! Try it out man, gotta start somewhere ! If you need any help with making yours, just let me know and I'll help to the best of my abilities !
Great news!

this is great news and I am glad to read this! My Eris was my first Android phone and I am glad to see it is still being developed for! yeah!
The Eris is still alive according to Droid Life's article. We might get an OTA update. AWESOME. I still love my phone and love creating icons and putting ideas on it. Its just that every other phone is getting more attention and the Eris is in the back burner.
I'm still keeping mine.
The update is confirmed and people are already getting it. Justrelaxing on the Android Central forums has already got the update along with a few others. Here's the page, go to post #27

[Q] Any update coming to VeganTab GingerEdition?

Been using this ROM since day 1, April 11. There are over 1100 replies and 214,115 views, and I have read a lot of them and applied some fixes here and there but none of these have actually come from the Developer himself.
l admit I am not a programmer, just a mild-to-heavy user, but is this it? Have I missed an actual ROM update? I have seen kernals and other ROM's updated in the last month and was just wondering if there is going to be a RC2?

No, you haven't missed it, but you missed the vegan-tab specific forum gojimmy created off his main site - where he posts now and then to reassure people that he's still alive and working on stuff.
Given he bases his stuff off CM7, and CM7 has been changing 3-4 times a week, he's probably going to wait until it reaches some point of stability. Or not. Who knows. But I don't think he's stopped.

[Q] ICS status for Amaze

Does anyone know the current status of ICS development for Amaze? Contemplating switching from Sensation, which is just at the doorstep of getting pure AOSP ICS, currently few minor bugs to be worked out. Just wondering how far development has gone, perhaps at other sites?
Xboarder is doing a ton of the work here and as far as I know he is the one working on it. I believe his latest thought was porting it from another device but so far all we have had is a functional touchscreen.

Similar stuff going on @ sensation - Tripnraver is doing awesome work @ Modaco. I had tried his pure AOSP ICS rom and it's almost ready, save camera and bt, and I can't believe how amazingly fast and snappy it was. Not my daily driver yet, but mighty close.
I guess I should be expecting similar time frame from xboarder (i used one of his CM7 based roms on sensation).
I'll raise a toast to our first successful developer, and send them some beer change, too They all deserve much for their hard work.
Here's the thread:

The last post from him says he is working on something else currently.
