Hey Guys,
Having an issue that I just can't seem to figure out. First, my phone specs:
Running EB01 Modem & JT's EB01 Voodoo Kernel w/SuperClean 2.2 Voodoo, ASOP Lock, Power & Battery Mod (via Domush walkthrough).
Now the problem: my phone just shuts off completely when it feels like it and the only way to get it back on is to do a battery pull. Searched the forums and throught it might be the proximity sensor, but flashed it back to stock and it was fine. It seems to happen randomly. It's not the battery because each time i turn it back on it have plenty of battery life. I've tried freezing all my apps and it still does it as well.
Is there someting i'm missing? Anyone else have an idea?
Thank you in advance
My first suggestion is backup your apps and do a wipe wipe wipe. See if that corrects problem.

I had that happen a couple times as well with SC 2.1. I only ran it for a couple days before SC 2.2 came out. After flashing 2.2 over 2.1, and wiping the cache a couple times, I haven't had it happen again. Then again I only upgraded yesterday, so it may yet happen again. Time will tell.

So far so good....I wiped x3 everything (cache, davik, everything) and it seems to have worked. Thank guys. I'll let you know if it acts up again.
Come to find out it was a rom prob, fixed in the forums, called the sleep of death.

FWIW, I did not have the problem with 2.2, and now have upgraded to SC 2.4, and the issue still has not returned. It does seem like I have to hit the power button twice to wake it up once in a while, but it never fails to wake up.

It seems to have only happen when you do the steps in a certain order. It's all fixed with the patch.
Actually, it's NOT been fixed with the patch. If you read the thread, the people that thought it worked had it come back after a few hours of use. The only way I've been able to "fix" it thus far is to go back to the stock ebo1 rom. FWIW, the problem for me seems to resurface after I access any media. The first time was after I listened to music through Poweramp and the latest was after watching a video in media hub.

Hmm, I'll have to check it out....I went through my photos and it worked fine after that. I use Audiogalaxy so I don't have music on my phone. I'll go run a video and see if that triggers it. Good looking out JJRocker
This so far has been an issue that's really hard to find info for and it's driving me nuts...lol. So yeah, even though I'm far from being an expert, I'm trying my best to figure out what's causing it so that I can work around it or better yet, help the devs out since they are the real experts here. Adrynalyne put a test patch up and asked people to report on it, so it would probably help a lot if everyone having the problem would post their results in this thread. He's the guy that's probably most likely to figure this out. Also, that link has the patch if you want to give it a shot.
One thing I should probably mention is that at least in my case, once the SOD surfaces, it happens about every 4th to 5th wakeup until I reflash the rom or go to another one. So if you've experienced it already, there's a good chance you won't be able to cure it without a reflash.
Ive noticed there is a certain population of folks who have it, and a larger population of those who do not.
I've been researching for hours on end, with no clear common resolution.
For some, not using Titanium to restore apps fixes it.
For some, my test patch works.
For some, a double reboot fixes it.
I had it happen once, ever, and it was on stock eb01. It never happened again. I myself have noticed increased instability on eb01 using maps and gps, however. A couple days ago, launching maps, and turning on the gps afterwards hard locked my device.
@adrynalyne
Exactly.
It seems that mine is fixed with the patch in both of your SuperClean 2.3 & 2.4, I've tried different media and it seems fixed. Only time will tell tho.
And thank you for all that you do with this phone. It had such great potenital and with you and folks like jt, it's making this phone amazing!
It's strange....I had it happen once this morning and now I can't replicate it. I have used Titanium to restore apps but I only restore one app, AndroidPit App Center. I need it to download ADW EX and Beautiful Widgets since they take PayPal and my debit card doesn't do foreign currency.
Anyway, someone at Android Central suggested avoiding ADW because people were reporting issues with the SOD and that launcher. So, I'm gonna run LP+ for a while and see how that works out.
I have been using ADW EX and no real problems...
...but I didn't think about it, I did clear out me Titanium Backup and just reDownloaded stuff this time. Maybe the backups are the culprit?
Well, right now I'm starting over on SC 2.4 and trying all the remedies I've seen posted thus far. I wiped data and cache, flashing SC 2.4. I'm going to skip the backup assistant since it might try to restore apps that were restored by Titanium. I'll run LP+ and flash a theme (VA green is my current fave...love the BA). Gonna restore my apps manually from the market and I'll even double reboot when I'm all done...lol. Anyway, wish me luck...the real test will be tomorrow at work. I use HandBase to keep track of things so I put my phone in and out of sleep a lot during the day.
And also, many thanks to Adrynalyne and all the other great devs here. The work put into this stuff is much appreciated. I wouldn't put this much effort into getting this working if SC wasn't such an amazing ROM.

When I redid it again my aps were automatically restoring themselves. So to save you some sanity, make sure you go into privacy and turn off "Backup my settings" and "Restore my settings" as well. It may be dimmed out, but it will sutomatically restore them as well. It's doesn't really do much from what I can tell (I still have to manually add passwords to wifis, which it says it backs up)
Ya know, maybe that's the cuplrit of this whole shabang
Ok, so I had the SOD on LP+ too. Out of curiosity, is anyone with this problem using Switchpro widget or another power control widget that changes brightness? The one thing that seems to always precede the SOD for me has been installing and putting this widget on my desktop. Also, one time I did have it before I installed the widget and checked my screen timeout settings...there was nothing checked which is the same as having the screen never turn off. Apparently, backup assistant restored the setting automatically from a previous flash. Also, I think Super Clean has a power control widget on one of the homescreens by default if I remember correctly. Everything was running great, couldn't get it to SOD, so I started installing some of my apps and put the switchpro widget on my main homescreen, and got SOD on the very next wakeup.
I believe I may have found my culprit!! But before I say, let me recap:
I backed up using TiB. Flashed everything back to DI01 and got the OTA update. Restarted, then flashed to DL09. Reboot, Flashed to Deoxed EB01. I also kept the origional kernel, didn't meess with it because I believed that it was the cuplrit, I am assuming I'm wrong. Everything was good. Slowly started adding programs back seeing which one will kill my phone. I finally found it......it was YouMail.
If you are using this product, you can have it on to your system and it will work. But as soon as it receives its notification of a New Voice Mail notification from their servers. It locks up. Hopfully uninstallation and a reboot will take it away, but only time will tell. I'll report back in.
Yesterday I was driving to work. My Fascinate was working flawlessly since I got it the day it came out. I have leaked DL30, Midnight v1.0 theme and DJ05 kernel which I have been using with no changes for about 2 months.
While I was driving, my phone reset, the default desktop screen for the theme came up. A few of my desktop widgets are gone.
Also I have these strange things:
1. My settings button on the app drawer does not open the phone settings. I highlights blue but does not open.
2. When I try to create a shortcut on my desktop it force closes my launcher (ADW, TW and LP).
3. My blue tooth headset is no longer paired (and I can not pair it since I can not get into settings).
Now I have no way to access my phone settings. I did not think that they phone would do the Froyo update since i was rooted with the leaked version already on it, but I can not check to see what is installed since I can't get into the settings.
I have tried many battery pulls and I installed AVG antivirus and that didn't find anything.
Like I said, this is kind of weird since everything was running fine as is for the last 2 months.
Any ideas or suggestions before I do a full Odin wipe and re-install?
Thanks
Why not just back up apps with TB and install ED01 or EB01 (which ever your choice).

That is most likely what I am going to do.
Hey so I flashed DAS BAMF GingerRemix 2.1 yesterday and everything is working fine, the only thing is there was a "Rosie Settings" application in my app drawer when I first flashed the 2.1 and I was able to change the right button to Dolphin Browser instead of the stock browser, but all of a sudden now it's just gone! It isn't in my app drawer, and when I click on the right button nothing happens. It was working fine for a while, I don't know what I did. I tried the one patch Rosie-original-button-replacement but that doesn't do anything. If I go into Astro File Manager and go to system and app I can scroll down and see Rosie Settings but when I click it it says Activity Not Found - com.logicvoid.rosieutility Do I have to change some setting? Did I do something wrong? The part I can't understand is it was working at first and now for some reason it isn't at all. I did a forum search and couldn't find any answers. Please give me some things to try if you know anything. Hopefully I am just being dumb and doing something wrong, because right now I just have a button that doesn't do anything, when it should be opening the internet.
Thanks in advance.
Howard
I had the same thing happen to my phone. I didnt try to setup the widget through htc.... i just thought it would be easier to reflash...(which fixed everything).... wish i could give you a reason why you lost rosie....i had a lot of fc's too.... i think it was all tied into restoring everything i had through titanium . i decided to only restore things on an "as needed" basis and haven't had a problem since.
I had that issue with 2.1 standard, but everything was fine with the remix version of GB. I would have stuck with the standard if it wasn't for that. I love the remix, but I hate the notification bar being in black font. hope they fix that soon.
I re-flashed it and everything worked perfectly. But THEN I tried changing the font in das bamf toolkit in the extra section and I must have done something wrong. It said it was going to download, install and re-boot my phone as soon as I clicked the font that I wanted. So I chose the font that I wanted and it turned my phone off, and my phone started re-booting and it never got past the first screen where it says HTC and the background is white. It stayed like that for over an hour so I pulled the battery and re-tried and the same thing happened, it just never got past the HTC part. So I pulled the battery and launched into bootloader so that I could go into recovery mode and hopefully re-flash and make everything all better. But NO! I forgot that I accidentally still have the PG05IMG.zip file on my sd card from when I flashed the GB radio, so it instantly wants to do an update and my only two options are to do the update and re-boot (which did nothing) or to just re-boot the phone. So I brought the phone to verizon and they took one look at it and saw that it wouldn't turn on and gave me a new phone. I just really hope that they dont look into it and see that I rooted it and void my waranty and make me have to pay for the full price of the phone. ANyways looking back now I realize that I probably could have gotten a micro sd card reader, put it in my computer, deleted the PG05IMG.ZIP file, and gotten into bootloader and into recovery and re-flashed the rom. But whatever, it is what it is.

So, I have no idea what has happened here, but I seem to have lost my calendar application. Is there any way, other than re-installing the ROM to get that back?
Ok, so, the plot thickens. I went ahead and just reflashed the rom through ClockWork Manager, got everything to boot up just fine, and using Titanium Backup was able to reinstall all my programs/settings. Now a really interesting thing has happened, the phone won't recognize my sim card! When I go into wireless networks and settings, and then into mobile network providers, it prompts me to put a sim card into the phone (of course, there's already one in there).
Any suggestions on this?
My plan for now is to go home, back everything up to my computer, wipe everything through my CWM recovery, and then try to re-flash again.
Also, the keyboard that I use (SlideIt) is having problems force closing every few seconds, which is becoming REALLY annoying.
I would love your input.
ok, so, after a full wipe of the phone, and THEN re-installing Axura 2.3.1.3, I think I'm back to where I want to be. Phone is recognizing my SIM again and I'm in the middle of doing my restoration with TiBU. I'm gonna go through apps first and THEN system information to see if that's what caused my problems before. Might have a corrupted TiBU file somewhere, or a rogue one that's causing these problems for me.
if calander was the only problem in the first place you could have just downloaded 1 from market ??
yeah, I could have, but I really just wanted the stock Google calendar. I'm weird like that

working now ??
i'll post apk for it if you want
This is weird. I am running the Ineffabilis ROM with the 1.3 dsb SmartAss v2 kernel. I was running Ziggy but it froze up/rebooted at least once a day regardless of settings.
This is an absolutely killer setup, it looks awesome & is rocket fast with no freezeups/reboots whatever.
I had installed CPUMaster PRO & use it for speed/governor settings etc.
Last night, I decided to try undervolting slightly to see if it made any difference whatever in the already pretty good battery life. I went through it & set every clock speed at -50 for voltage. I also added a 1x1 home screen widget to constantly read out what speed it was currently running at.
It was plugged in/charging all night, & when I turned the phone on this morning the widget was gone (there was a blank spot on what had been a screen full of shortcuts etc.
I'm like WTF, but no big deal I will just recreate the widget. When I go to do that, I cannot find the app anywhere. It was completely gone from my phone & I had to DL & install it all over again......
I have occasionally had the Android bug where a photo taken to the card disappears (that has happened to me with three different phones & at least three different cards) but never had an installed app disappear before.
Has anybody else seen this particular problem/feature/error etc........ ???
~John
I just read a post about disappearing app in the last hour but when they went to reinstall it said they already had the app. Sounds like yours was actually gone?

I'm not 100% sure now, but I THINK it reinstalled it totally from scratch.
I use AppMonster as it automatically makes/saves a backup APK of every app I install to my card. Then, I don't have to find/DL an app in the future. I just go to the BU folder & click on that apps APK & I'm good to go again.....
~John
I'm going to try that app out. Can you selectively restore apps or do you have to do them all?
While I'm on stock I'm trying a bunch of apps out and once I root and get a fresh ROM installed I'm not going to want to put all of the apps back.

Yes, you can selectively reinstall anything you want. It is an awesome app, I much prefer this to doing a batch reinstall with TIBU.
In the preferences, select "plain style backup" & set it to automatically BU any new app you install. That tells it to copy the APK from any app you install to a folder of your choosing.
Then, after a ROM flash you just go to the folder & selectively click on whatever apps you want to install. I have used the app for a couple years & it's awesome.

can vouch for app monster pro. Great way to back up. Some apps can't be restored (they will be marked protected), but most can and it will keep old versions as well so if an update is crap you can revert.
