Hi guys,
I have noticed some light leaking from the right side of the home button. It's a small light leak but was wondering if anyone has this issue .
I also have this issue, but I can only notice it in a dark room. Still a bit annoying though.
Can someone post a pic? Just to know what to look for.
I noticed as well earlier today. No biggie though, only a small annoyance.
??? There is no backlight in the phone, what is there to leak?

They are talking about the backlight on the back-button, which if you hold the phone in a certain angle in a dark room you can see some through a gap in the home-button.
It's not a "leak" , it's the phone itself. The parts under there fit such that there's a small hole in that spot and light seems to "leak" ( and it can only be seen if you angle the phone a certain way ) . Don't think it's a big deal.
I have it too....... but it'snot really annoying.......viewed only in certain angles in a dark room
Yes it is there and mine is a little worse than my dad's phone. I've dismantled my phone. The usb PCB lies on top of the button. Unfortunately the button is sandwiched in between the lcd panel and the middle frame. I've been trying to find a way to kill the light but haven't figure out how is the light leaking out. Usually on a blackberry's keyboard it is because of the paint on the button being scraped off a little but it probably isn't the case on the phone.
I noticed it on my phone one night too. It's barely noticeable and only if you look from a certain angle. Can't say i'm bothered by this.
You seriously dismantled your phone because a bit of light leaks from the home button? Is it stopping your phone from working or something?
Madness.
I can't dismantle my phone to fix issues?
I've dismantled my $2000+ TV to fix backlight issue, dismantled my whole car's interior to fix rattling issue, I've dismantled my $1000+ dac to fix soldering issue, I don't remember what else I've dismantled but I surely dismantled and fixed a lot of issue. What's the big deal with dismantling my Galaxy S2? Some guy on youtube posted a very helpful video on dismantling an S2 but all he got was silly trolls flaming him. The same happened to people who dismantled their brand new iphone.
Hi guys,
So I'm posting here to ask you if this is normal or not. I'm noticing that there's a tiny tiny crack between the biezel that joins the screen to the backplate of the phone (where the plastic of the screen meets the rubber plastic of the back. This is at the bottom near the usb port in the middle between the home button and the back button. It's tiny, however it's enough that some of the white light coming from the capacitive buttons escapes from that crack/gap whatever it is that.
I've had the phone for more than 15 days now and I never noticed because this is the first time I've used the phone in a pitch black room. That's when I noticed a very dim white light escaping the biezel at that position. However, that's the only way to see it, even under close inspection you cannot see any gaps or anything... only when the surrounding is really really dark.
I hope that I explained it well because unfortunately I don't have another camera to take a picture with to show you.
Try to use your phone in a pitch black room and you should see it right away or not?
thank you,
I experience nothing like this on mine.

I'm out of town but when I get back I'll go and check what I can do too. Let me know if they give you any trouble when you ask for a new one.
My does it as well, tho I'm not really concerned.

So I cracked the glass on my DNA So I decided to take the opportunity to show everyone the inside of the DNA
I still have all the parts, so if anyone wants specific shots let me know.
P.S. Do we think the yellow gasket and white goo = waterproofing?
Cool!!!
Thank for sharing these pictures.

No LEDs.. It appears to be a strip of Electroluminescent Paper or a bit LCD back-lighting without the LCD-ness. My bet is on the latter.
(Sorry, by this point everything is glued to hell... so I had to move to destructive disassembly)
Hope this helped!
Cheers,
so cool, thanks!
i was triyng to look for that "soft spot" on the back right which if pushed, caused the LED discoloration..there appears to be A LOT between the actual screen and the back plate, and it's symmetrical...yet the left side didn't have hte same soft spot the right did.
that's what caused my blue dot issue..but judging from these pics, there's alot between the back and the screen..so man, even lightly pushing that spot showed the discoloration..
I thought I was the only one with the blue dot issue, I sent mine back to Wal-Mart & they sent me a new one thank goodness. My bluish blush spot was about 1/2" above the home button & a little off to the left.

That is exactly where the magnet for the rear speaker is.
I tore a part my evo lte when replacing the screen. The DNA looks like it was designed by brilliant engineers. The evo, in comparison, looks like it was designed by a carpenter.

There are LEDs, they just are not on the LCD assembly, they are on the front side of the speaker board on bottom. I took my DNA apart and posted pictures of it all a while ago on droidforums, i posted link bellow, you can see the LEDs (there is two of them) on the front side picture of the speaker board which goes on bottom.

Is this what I'm supposed to be looking at?
http://s8.postimage.org/wu97wki5h/2012_11_24_14_09_39_128.jpg
Look at this photo.. the LCD covers up pretty much the whole area and would block anything coming from the speaker assembly. How would it shine through?

yes the first picture you linked is correct. Those two leds on bottom are the LEDs for the touch buttons. Trust me the light goes through lol, that bluish white film or whatever color it is, is tinted and light passes through it. Try holding a flash light behind it. They tint it so the light doesnt just shine right through and look ugly, this way it has a even spread and isnt blinding. Even though id rather have mine a little brighter.
I was able to adjust their brightness with this app..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ubmV2b2QubG9nZ3JhcGgiXQ..
Don't think they're maxed out with the default settings.

is it possible to separate the lcd from glass without damaging it? my glass is shattered, but lcd is fine.
mine is also broken and i am just about to order the digitizer only, is it possible to replace only the digitizer?
Looking at these made me glance at my phone and I noticed.. My camera isn't centered on the back!! WHAT?!?! LoL
How hard is it to just remove and re attach the rear housing? my rear notification LED doesn't work and I want to fix it.
I've been suffering the dust issue on 2 lumias now, and have noticed something. If you go to a darkish room/area and tilt the phone, you can see the light from the backlight coming through on the sides of the screen and also at the top and bottom by the capacitive buttons.
e.g. http://discussions.nokia.com/discus...ith_Windows_Phone/30650/1/2012-12-15-1679.jpg
I'm just wondering if there's anyone here who can go to a dark area, and see whether they all have this or not? Kinda worried me because made me think there's a manufacturing defect here and the screen isn't secured properly on the handset - which could maybe account for dust getting in? It might also explain the 'rattle' on vibrate that some are getting.
The three lumias I've seen all seem to have this to a certain extent (the light on the sides is usually much thinner and normally on either the right or the left - not both).
ANyone?

Funny enough, I had mine sent in for repairs due to scratches on the screen. After having the screen replaced I have NO light Issues and no more dust issues.
Seems during the initial build the screen is not fitted in or glued in properly ?

Oh christ....don't know what to do now. Could either wait until a new batch comes along without this issue or buy one now and send it off to Nokia. I'm rather depressed about the prospect of sending a brand new product away to be opened again

You GENUINELY have none? I.e. no thin strip of light running down the side(s), no light just above and to the right of the windows key? None above the search key? NONE?!
You must have been sent Elop's personal phone. I've looked at around 6...not that many admitedly, but all from different places so the maths of it all as coincidence is bleak.
Treasure it my friend.

OK cheers guys....well I guess either I'm having a psychotic episode or the unlocked batches ive looked at in the UK are defective.
Thanks anyways x
How would you define the light leak, eg, if I look at the screen on a very extreme angle, I can see through a minute gap at the bottom and see light from those buttons through it through the screen, but in normal circumstances it isnt noticeable at all. like the light isnt uneven or anything like that

Well it's like in the picture link that I put on the first page - Except as well as the top and bottom, there's also a small amount on the sides too that can be made to partly disappear if you push down hard on the screen there - I.e. the impression the glue holding the screen down is loose. It appears on all the ones I've seen, but I don't know, if you guys say you haven't seem it maybe I've just had extraordinary bad luck! It doesn't affect the screen when looking at it normally but it makes me worry for the future - loose things tend to become looser with time, and my theory is this, the dust and the vibrate rattle are interconnected.
I'm looking at my 920 and I think I see what you mean. On the top I see the light across almost the whole top but not at the sides or bottom. Is really a concern (I don't look at the phone at an extreme angle like that..)

Oh ok sorry, I didn't look at the pic. The vibration rattle (from what I've read) is just how it is because of the kind of vibrator (for lack of a better word I can think of) technology. Would have been good to have a nice clean vibration humm being a flagship phone...
Nothing seems to change for me when I compress the screen. Perhaps you really did just get a bit of a dodgy one?
Me either. I just did it again to make certain I wasn't lying to you. I cannot see anything from any angle. Now I'm starting to feel a little guilty.
I'm on my second 920 because the first one had a problem with switching back to handset mode after unplugging a headphone jack, but neither of them have any light leak! Maybe it is a manufacturing defect because of rushed batches due to the supply problems?

No light leak, but there are dust under front camera and once in a while the proximity sensor activates all the time.
I just purchased a new Xperia Z2 (D6503), everything worked fine.
But I noticed there is a tiny bright light/spot looks like this "-", about 1-2 mm long, located at the left corner of the bottom bezel (which is all black) on the front screen. It is most noticeable when the screen is on. When the screen is off, this tiny light is also off, just looks grey.
I wondered what this light is for , and found no results in the user manual. I searched Z2 phone pictures online and all the bottom bezel on those phone looked whole black without any light. So i'm worried if my screen is defective.
Please help me check if you have the same light on the bottom left corner of the bezel.
Thank you!

off the display , in the black bezel region at the bottom of the front of the phone.
It is most likely a manufacturing defect where the the bezel was scratched on the back side. This causes light from the backlight to bleed through the glass when the display is turned on. Sorry OP, maybe try to exchange it?
