Anyone have this app or use it? Does the GPS location thing always need to be turned on? Does it waste battery?
Search for an app called lookout on the android marketplace, your welcome

I just installed Android Lost. It's free and it's great. It lets you do a lot of stuff, like make your phone sound a police siren in case you lost it somewhere in your house, lock the phone, give you the GPS coordinates, and take pictures and send it to your email, all from the web interface. It doesn't use any battery life either.
sounds good
Thanks. I may have to try one of these because the Total Protection app apparently cannot find my phones location worth a damn. Which location/security app uses the least battery?

I don't find the total equipment protection app to impact my battery at all, but I'll definitely give lookout a shot

My battery meter shows AndroidLost as using no battery, just as they claim.
Android lost is neat. Thanks for that.

Yeah, that's my only concern. Lookout is for sure reputable (been around longer, been recommended more, been on the news for Pete's sake lol) and the free version has all the features you really need, while the paid version adds remote lock and remote wipe capabilities

Hi All,
I'm not looking for cracked apps.
I have downloaded BlackMart and installed a cracked app, however it never gets updated, and i would like to buy it now. When i go to market it says its paid and just the install button is there. I tried to clear market data/cache, tried to clear the services data did a clear data/devlik cache after this, rebooted and it still says paid. I also removed my account from the accounts database restarted and setup the Google account again. go to market and its still showing it as i paid for it.
anyone have any suggestions.
Try creating a new Google account and attach it to the market

Use titanium back up to removed your cracked version. Then it should show up as not installed then buy.

this did not work. I tried to force attach to market, then wipe data and uninstall.
restarted and checked market, still said purchased.
I then tried to remove from market, wipe data, and restart and nothing!
I also have that issue where your market apps don't show up under "my apps" do you think that this part of the issue?
because when i login to market on the PC and go to my apps, I see apps on there that say they are installed, and they really arnt on my phone any more.
Suggestions?
You cannot simply uninstall because somehow the market thinks you purchased it as it attached itself to your google account, correct?
I would do as suggested and just use a different google account to purchase it. Of course you will then have problems updating it when you switch to the google account that syncs all your other data.
Maybe email the dev and explain you screwed up and wanna pay them $ if they know how to fix it?

Same issue
Hi,
I am having the same issue.
I have tried the cracked versions of the apps and now I genuinely want to buy them but I cannot.
I'd never feel comfortable using a cracked app on my phone. I don't know if anything malicious can be done to them (cracked apps) that might harm my device, but the prices on most apps are so low, I'd rather not risk it.
Besides, after having been a member here for a while and reading the work that goes into development, it just doesn't seem right to steal the work.
My take, spend the 2-5 bucks, reward the dev effort, have the security of knowing your app is genuine.

Ill have to disagree. I have tried free apps and they were so bad I would so kick myself if I had paid for it. There should be a requirement that there has to be a free app and a paid. No paid only apps should be be allowed. Free with dumbed down features until you buy a key is the way to go.

No solution, I am thinking it has to do with my market being broken, (I cant see my apps) however if you do not have this issue then there goes my theory
So I sbf'd today and went to newest 2.3.5 leak and installed eclipse! Living it. And I got my apps back!!! I did not have them earlier today so I really don't know how they came back but I'm still having the issue with the cracked app. :-(

I solved the problem of empty list uninstaling the blackmart... but that dont have any relation with not being able to buy some apps
If you use a root explorer/file manager and go into system/apps you should be able to delete the apk file from there at the source. If that doesn't work its got to be a market issue. Good luck
I had same problem, and got it to work downgrading market version
Like some guy sugested me in this topic: forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?p=936431#p936431
Here is a thought: pay for your apps? How much was this 'cracked' app you installed? 99 cents? 5 dollars? If you cannot afford that, then cancel your cell contract and save some money because you obviously need it.
Every app has a refund period after purchase, and almost all apps have a free version you can try out.
Even if you get stuck with an app you don't like, you spent what, a dollar? A few dollars? Uninstall it and wait for improvements, you already own the app. Cracked apps and warez are for pathetic losers who wanna be cool or are not man enough to pay for what they want. Support your devs.
I can't believe this thread is even here.

like this idea:good:
Installing apps from the market won't work, because I think you'd have to activate the app by starting it first. Apps dont start after install automatically as far as i know.
Take your IMEI number and receipt of purchase to the police. In theory, they can track it aswell (only by cell tower triangulation, not by gps). Depends on your country and local police if they would actually do that.
Plan b should work... it's designed to activate on installation so it starts tracking straight away.
If you don't get an email from it straight away... send an sms saying "locate" and it should reactivate the tracking

Just keep trying. Eventually it'll work.
It makes sense to turn the phone off after you've stolen it so it can't be tracked. Eventually the thief will have to turn it on, whether he's selling it or checking it out.
Good luck :good:

Yes. It's the bad news that sell to the people, not the good ones... And it's also interesting to find out, if one can get he's smartphone back by using these tracking apps. Now we can find out if they're useless or not.
Hope Plan B works for you. Bring a baseball bat and a few friends when you track the thief down.
And when you do have your phone back, install Cerberus on it right away, it's a fantastic anti theft app with a great web control center and tons of features.
Plan B vs. Android Lost, which one is better?

Why? "burgle" is a standard English verb that you'll find in any dictionary. Don't really get why it's worth loling at.
Anyway, I tried it (and by "it" I mean everything) when I lost my i9000. To no avail unfortunately.
The problem with all those apps is they need internet. If the thief doesn't connect it to wifi or the mobile data.... And most thieves will steal it only to immediately sell it so why would they. Odds are the person who buys it will wipe it, and then unfortunately, nothing can be done.
When it became apparent the thief hadn't sold my phone (yet), I left my account open for as long as possible, hoping they'd turn on mobile data. But when the calls to Romania started adding up I had to have it cancelled and lost all hope. Hope you have better luck.
Now that I'm thinking about it, it would be a good idea if Samsung Dive could turn data on by an alternative means like an SMS. Because as useful as any such services may be, they're all near-worthless if they have no data connection - indoors getting a lock with AGPS is difficult. Without data its next to impossible. At least with data you're guaranteed to get at least the approximate location based on cell towers and wifi.
Oh well
I recently bought a Nexus 4 and I would like to avoid losing it.
I'm very careful, but being it an object of 350 bucks, I would like to be extremely careful.
Does anyone had a good experience with an app and can suggest it? I have no problem in spending some money on it, but it must work with/without internet connection (so I can save my phone with an sms if there isn't internet connection).
Actually I found "Locate My Droid" but I noticed there are various apps of this type, so before buying a PRO version I would like to know some well known names where I can choose from.

no i have it on my wrist right now. i'm not impressed tho in that the software is crap it has some bad bugs that being said tho if it didnt have the bugs it would be pretty cool (the truesmart I've pre-ordered will be better tho)
I think that the bugs are coursed by them trying to mix elements from the app drawer and the home screens together. it has no homescreens or widgets but has folders were you can put 3 yes only 3 apps per folder how useless. and sometimes apps show multiple icons per app installed worst i've gotten is 3 for one app install and only uninstalling it will remove it. also after you've filled so meny pages of apps it starts not showing some of them so you have to do a device search to find/open them. and if i try install say nova or next 3d instead of the usless default launcher they would be fine but. the notification bar totaly vanishes and stops working. so until someone makes better firmware for it or maybe the omate firmware will work on it ? it has omate firmware on it now and the model number also says omate. i'd just be worried about breaking it by doing that and couldn't anyway unless someone makes a root hack for this? so atm its not as good as it could be.

I would like to see how it works as a smartwatch All these discussions about various android watches got us far away from the original concept of smartwatch, to be a remote display for your smartphone where you get your notifications upon which you decide if you want to take out your smartphone to proceed That's how it works with MetaWatch and Pebble, a simple notification smartwatch. As much as I'm looking forward to Omate and other android smartwatches, these crossed the threshold of smartphone on your wrist which is an overkill for a lot of people. So, I would really like to see how this AW-414.Go will be able to deliver notifications about incoming calls, text messages, Gmail, and POP/IMAP/Exchange emails.

I disagree in the sense that having a full android os means you can do a lot more with it and customise it however you want plus you dont have to use its built in phone/3g if you dont want to. I mostly use mine at home on wifi. The battery life is a joke on 3g and exstremely bad if you actualy actively use it with 3g/phone enabled and not just with those on in standby mode. But thats to be exspected due to the size of the batterys in these kinda devices.
