Has anyone tried changing the lcd density of X10 mini/pro ? If you have succeeded, please tell me which app did you use and what value did you put ? Thanks..

No-one ever tried changing LCD density of mini/pro??
Tried with a couple of apps, cant remember the figures, but the result was the phone reverting to original density even if app reported success. No changes made, just the app saying it had, then reverting that report after a reboot. On u20i

On my phone it is changing the density successfully, but after a short while the phone hangs and reboots, changing the density back to default. I have tried LCD density and LCD density changer..

I tried searching for this info but I found nothing.
I'm trying to change the LCD density to something bigger on the E3D. Is it possible on the current method of temp rooting? If so what is the best setting?
I tried the LCD density changer app (at 280) and it turned the screen black and my phone froze. Anyone have any tips on this?

Have you tried a lower setting? LCD density might not work since theres not a kernel source yet...
I'm assuming the screen shuts off and takes a little bit for the settings to take effect. I also assume it requires a reboot... but it's because root does not stick all the way... So it doesn't work.
So at this time, I believe density change... is unsupported.
I think your both right. When I tried editing the build.prop file it would freeze up the super manger.
I seem to remember now that you mention it that I had to reboot my other android phone when when I changed the density. Of course that wouldn't work on a phone that you lose root when you reboot.
the screen turns black when I save the changes. I wait like ten minutes and it stays black.
I don't want to make the density smaller. I want to make everything look bigger.
Try using the fast boot option to reboot.. I do that and I get to keep root!

But as soon as you apply the density change... screen goes black. You can't get to Fast reboot...

enough chars for a valid post.
I know on my og EVO it did a soft reboot (straight to the boot animation) which in our case would not clear the RAM. So in theory it should work but I'm not sure. I'll try it when I get home in a couple days

+1 would be nice on this qhd screen..

if you have S-OFF, just adb shell into phone and gain root...then edit the /system/build.prop file to look for density and change the value and reboot.
Sorry for bumping if someone's mentioned this before, but after trying to a find an app to easily change the density for months and continuously failing, i was quite excited when i realized Font changer has a density changing setting in it and it works flawless, now i can take advantage of this qHD screen. So happy!

Simplest way would be to use root explorer and edit the value in system/build.prop
Or
Use adb pull /system/build.prop
Edit the value with NotePad++ and
adb push build.prop /system
adb shell
chmod 644 /system/buildp.prop

I know I just wanted an app to change it quick and easily though cause some games don't play well with the 192 density setting I prefer. I know 192 is tiny on the 3d but I love it, feels like I'm using a tablet.
Actually root toolbox pro works perfectly... but I believe for actual density changes on everything you need n asop rom

I use 200, definitely a good balance between being smaller and too small. Before viperROM Final is out, I'm going to add density control into viperControl so that you don't even have to use an app

Yeah 200 is a sweet spot. And that would be an amazing addition to an awesome rom! I remember Magnus included it in one of the destroyer roms on the og and ever since then 240 is rediculously huge too me, its like a 600×800 Res on a computer haha. I'm still in shock I never noticed font changer had a option to change LCD density, and the fact that it has it, and its free! I don't understand why a font changer would have this option, but I'm definitely not complaining.

u cant honestly think going with the adb method and using notepad++ is "simpler" then clicking an app on the phone and typing the density u want right there..
but anyway.. yeah, ive been using font changer for a while to change both my fonts and density.. (back in my htc hero days..)
i go with 220.. even tho i like the way 200 looks overall, it makes the market too small and also sets the keypad in the dialer off center..
Hello, has anyone had any success with modifying the screen density on a Samsung Galaxy player 5.0?
I'm rooted and considering using an app such as LCD Density Modder Pro or perhaps even manually editing the build.prop file. Before I do this I'd like to know if anyone has also tried this and how successful it was.
The reason why I ask is because after a forum search I found that someone had tried unsuccessfully to do so: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18045727&highlight=density#post18045727
Thanks
Well, I did it on my 4.0 using font changer, worked fine, just made a lot of apps not work right so I undid it.

Changed the Density on my 5.0 to 200 and i actually like the slightly more scaled down nature of everything. You might run into a button or two that's slightly off because of this but in general the pros outweigh the cons.

Thanks, what app did you use?
I used Root Explorer to change the density directly from the build.prop file. It just seemed like a better idea than using an application to do it for me.

Okay, I'll try that
You guys should try and post some before and after screenshots. Would be interesting to look at.
This was already discussed, with several screenshots, in a thread called "Has anyone played with the LCD Density of the 5.0?" in the General forum. Sorry, I can't post links yet. The last update was 23/1/2012.

what do you mean about lowering screen density? are you talking about pixel density? you can't lower that
have you tried wiping your data? and reinstalling ROM?

i mean LCD density and i CAN !!
everything looks smaller and awesomely cool,
like u have higher resolution on ur pc..
no,
it'll make no sense since LCD density doesn't have any relation with user data..
i had same problem, just returned on stock 160 and it's ok

i tried to change density using app in my wti9i lww and increased to 180 dpi and rebooted bt im her with blank screen with freexperia bootloader tried to restore stock rom bt nothing helped please help im in big danger
Heyo,
I was wondering if there are other people here that can't change the dpi after they moved to JB.
I've tried altring the build.prop file which gave me a soft brick after I rebooted the phone and got the same result with "DPI Changer" and "LCD Density Modder" apps with other people leaving bad reviews on the play store for these apps because apparently they got the same results as I had.
So what's going on with JB and DPI changing?

I just edited the build.prop and restart, all OK then.
Which value dpi are you trying to set?

i changed mine in build.prop to 220 and had no problems except market incompatibility, but a modded vending apk fixed that
I'm new to rooting and roms but I have a somewhat dumb question, lol. when a custom rom becomes available for the lg l9 p769 will that change all aspects of the phone? I'm mainly talking about the ridiculous large fonts used by lg. will all fonts be able to be changed globally including font and font size? will everything be completely customizable?
(anybody correct me if I'm wrong) yes it will. But it depends on the ROM if it's a CM it will... If it's stock android it will.... If it's a stock LG... It won't... But as of now it looks like only CM so in short.... Yes...

you're correct but there are only 3 different fonts. what I really wanted to change was the font size, even at 'small' everything is very large so I did some reading and it's actually the lcd density that I want to change? I changed it but it screws things up on the screen.. would that be something I need a custom rom for to change lcd density and everything look okay
You don't need a custom rom to change density, one app to do that is pimp my rom. But it's a dangerous business, make sure to cwm backup everything first.

maybe you didn't read my whole post, I did change the lcd density (with rom toolbox pro) and like I said it screwed things up on the screen, empty spaces and you could see part of the left screen before even scrolling to it. so I guess my question is what would fix those issues? or is it possible that changing the lcd density on my specific device is impossible?
Use pimp my rom and change the density back to 234
That's the original one
pimp my rom is noob proof, you can undo any changes you made.

not trying to be rude but are you even reading what I type? I didn't say I needed to change the density back to original, I already did that and the original setting was 240, not 234. are you saying that pimp my rom will give me different results than rom toolbox pro?
There is no way yet to fix this. Most of the time changing density will d do this and so it's recommended that you not change density.
Actually you will need to change the number to a supported value that is common for android. I forget what most of them are sorry to say but they can be found by a Googling
The app "lcd density" has all the ones that are usable preset. Also you can try a launcher to bring down the size as well
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda premium
there's an app on the market called big font. I use it on my tablet to increase font size, but you can also scale down. haven't tried it yet on P769.
thank you for the information. I've tried using the supported values with no luck, things are still messed up on screen and even put my phone into a bootloop once. I have tried a couple font sizer apps but they do not change the font size globally, some things stay the same like the fonts on the homescreen. it really bothers me that LG's theme or whatever it is looks so plain and almost like an old version of android, when I see ICS running on other phones it's alot different and much better to look at visually. I'm assuming all of these things will be changed when a custom rom is released? I don't know a whole lot about this at the moment but I'm trying to learn..
