hi, i want my desktop icons to be transparent i,e, get rid of the black box they are in is this possible?
I think it's called ADW Launcher, but you need version 2.1. I think
thanks for reply, i will look into it
Launcher Pro may be another option, if you've heard or seen anything of 'cookies home tab' for windows mobile, i think these a similar to that, in that they offer a different interface.
I used FolderOrganizer v.2.4.9 lite(free) and do the Job well done
ADW launcher is available on the marketplace for 1.6
I've tried it and it looks like it's going to be essential when android 2.1 update comes out, since ADW launcher lets you fit more icons in as well instead of the daft icon spacing we'll be getting with the update!
Icons
The simple way is to use the app Multicon Widget by H9kDroid. Downloadable from Market.

I've installed it and i changed the icon...but i can't find the way to remove the black square around it
Any tips?
Get Apps Organizer from Market. Use widgets instead of desktop, and that will give you icons without the black background.

And it is posible to erase default aplications or unless hide them into folders
So anybody? sorry about my english im sure i could explain better if we talk please help me with this
try "GO launcher" when you want to organize by folders
try zeam laucher !!!

Try LauncherPro (or any other) and SiMi Folder or Desktop Visualizer and Folder Organizer
I've been using Zeam 2.8.8 as my desktop launcher and think it's great for the Nook Touch, simple, fast. I am having a problem when trying to remove large widgets, i.e 4x2, 2x3. I long press the widget and drag it to the trash can, I'm not that stupid, but when it's in the right spot the widget and trash can are supposed to both turn red. Problem is on a grayscale like Nook there is no visiable change in color. Is there an app I can use to remove the widget? I've been looking for an app the past three days but not lucky. I also am using ES File manager which allow sys access. Is the widget listed somewhere in the system files so I can delete it?
Please don't suggest I update to a new OS, it's not possible. The Nook Touch runs on Android 2.1. While people are cooking custom ROMS nothing's out yet.
Maybe you should just try a different launcher
I like GO-Launcher, much better than my original Sense 3.0 for example..

The widget related data is specific to launcher so you can either try new popular launchers like GO launcher, launcher pro, ADW launcher which are prettu stable and user friendly.
Or else if you want to stick to your older launcher then in that case you can clear data for launcher application. (Goto setting - application - manage application and search for your launcher application. Open it and clear data)
sorry I don't know how to remove specifically a single widget from launcher data. By clearing data all user defined shortcuts and widgets will be removed. (Launcher Reset)
Enjoy!!
Sent from my CSL-MI410 using XDA App
I like Go Launcher and would use it, in fact that is the launcher included on the Nook Touch rooting file, but when looking in the app drawer the font is too big and I can't see the app name. The funny part is when looking at the recent app tab and close app tab I don't have that problem.
OK, i have rooted my Nook Tablet 8GB; done the journey of unknown sources (it was so frustrating); installed amazon market and Google play!
I have a few questions that i could not get answers to. Here are all of them in one post. Please note that i read all the threads for new users and when i was not able to find a satisfactory answer, i made this thread.
Here are the questions:
1. My first issue is getting 3rd party apps on the home screen. I know you can install the App Manager and ask it to add to app shelve. They do not open from App shelve and then i have to go through another step of adding them to home screen. This takes a lot of time. How to add them directly to home screen of stock NT. If that is NOT possible, how to add them to shelve and run from there ? (When i try to run them from the shelve, i get the option to manage them. Nothing about running them)
2. Where do the files/apk that i download from the default browser go to ? Along with that where does Aurora and Dolphin browser save downloaded files ? What is the best browser to use (Read, i definitely need tabs !!)?
3. How to resolve widgets not loading in Go Launcher and Zeam Launcher ? Which Launcher do people prefer the most? I love Zeam because it allows a gazillion apps on one app screen. How to add Go Widgets to Go Launcher (Every time i try to download them, Google play says that they are not compatible)?
4. How to add widgets to the stock NT home screen ? Clock and weather specifically ? How to add/remove pages to home screen of stock NT ?
5. How to add epub/mobi to stock nook app and kindle ?
6. How to move all the apps to memory card ? they are eating a lot of space on my internal !
I know that's a lot of questions but i do not prefer to make a lot of threads for each question.
Thanks a ton.
Can't help with 1. It's been too long since I was on stock and that was 4.1.0 and before B&N blocked sideloading.
I use Dolphin Browser Mini. It has tabs and is understandable. Downloaded file go on sdcard in download folder under dolphin_browser_mini. I suspect stock stores in the download folder in the root of sdcard.
I use Go Launcher and don't have issues with widgets. I'm on the sdcard version of CM7. Go Launcher works well for me, although I have heard of some having trouble with it. When you long press where you want the widget don't forget to select the widget menu.
Can't help with the stock screen.
There are a number of ebook readers - Nook, Kindle, Aldiko to name a few. Download from Play. There are free ebooks, a google search. It takes some patience to get the covers, but if you use the list mode instead of bookshelf you can see the title.
To move the apps, go to your app manager and long press the app. You will get a screen that will allow it to be moved to sd and a lot more options.

Hello,
I have 2 questions regarding this mod (which I cannot post in the respective thread unfortunately)
- In the ROM description it says 'you can delete 1 of the launcher apps. [2 included]'. I only see 1 launcher called simply "Launcher", which is the other one?
- Where is the settings menu for this "Launcher". E.g. I want to remove the search bar, icon labels and home screens. Pressing the home button on home screen does nothing (usually brings up home screens management). The menu button only offers system settings, and they do not have a launcher section (or I haven't found it).
Thanks,
santaranger

In the latest version of the rom (v5), it is using the AOSP launcher. This is the most basic launcher so therefore there are no extra features. Also the 2nd launcher was removed to conserve memory and speed up the rom.
If you want to modify the look you can try any of the launchers present in the play store.
