[Q] Problem while installing custom Rom on htc desire - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

*
Hi there I’m even scared to write…
Newbie Noobie here. Greetings!
Got myself a birthday present a few days ago – HTC Desire.
If it helps, here are the details:
======
Firmware version: 2.2
i rooted my phone and then followed the steps to install custom rom
Anyway, here’s my problem (there were posts about it before as well).
Once I reach point 5 in Step 2 [i.e. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select.] after I click ‘Recovery’ my screen either stays white with the green HTC logo or just goes black – in either case, that’s it… nothing happens and no buttons work.
The first time it happened I almost got a heart attack (well, which noobie didn’t?) because I thought I’d just bricked my baby… Right now it is still the only way for me to do ANYthing after getting the black screen…
Any suggestions/help will be more than welcome! Thanks in advance!!!
(And sorry for the long post… I always need long intros and all the details listed to make myself as clear as possible)
Please do help me
i am nearly crying while typing it
email me the response
cheers
Raj

Bootloader

Hi all,
I have been following xda for a while now, but this is my first post. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to WinMo devices so apologies for sounding stupid.
I'm trying to upgrade a ROM on Atom Life and I'm unsure how to get the bootloader onto an SD card. I've searched for hours and have not found anything besides the wiki on xda, but as I'm not an experienced WinMo user, I need it in a little more detail.
It'd be very grateful if anyone could enlighten me!
Press Record + Reset, leave Reset first => ***MiniSD Detected*** => waiting 100%
Read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460145
pls search before you open a new thread just for ask a simple question.
Thanks! I did have a good search around, tried the "record + reset" method but nothing happens, it just reboots. I'll give it another go and have another search around.
Thanks for your time.
Try this, my friend success with it:
Power+Record+Reset, and release reset first.

If it is not work, nothing will happend to your device, why did your device screen black? did you flash it with others ROM before?
I've manage to do it now. It takes a bit of finesse to get it right, but i got there in the end. Flashed a stable 6.1 ROM onto device and it's pretty good.
I'm getting a X1 soon this is only a device to start me off in the world of WM. Plus, it's my mates Atom, so I shouldn't really messing about with it. Lol!
Thanks for all the help!

I have the same problem, have you fixed your mozart? Can you tell me how or where to go to find solution? Please
Hey there, I have the exactly same problem at one of my phones.
Is there no help? I hope there is.
I have two HTC 7 Mozarts at home, the one with a broken display and the one with the broken whatever (vibrates 7-8 times, too).
So today I swapped the display from the one with the broken rom (I guess) to the other one and:
a) it worked!
b) I saw the SD card slot!
So my question is: can't you do anything with the sd card against that problem?
It would be nice if we could!
Greetings!

Is my SII at a better place now ? (Brick?)

Hi guys! First of all, pls excuse my English.
I have a S II I9100 for almost two years and it won't start anymore. Before, I never had any starting issus with the device, but last friday, I tried to turn the screen on as always with the bower button but nothing happend. So I removed the battery and tried starting it again. The device booted until the Samsung logo and got stuck there. I removed the battery again and since then, my screen doesn't turn on.
Here my software specs:
Firmeware: I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX
Kernel: Siyah-s2-v6.0b5
I flashed this software 4 month ago.
What I tried until now:
- I tried a different battery
- of course I put it on the power (the phone got a bit hot but nothing else happened)
- booting recovery or download mode
So I can't boot the Recovery or Download Mode and at the moment I'm a bit confused what I can do without getting forced using my S II as paperweight. I'm not sure if I should try a USBjig.
If you have any other questions pls ask!
Any tips are welcome
Greetz, Lenniitsch!
Of course try a jig, and try King Rat's (search his posts) method where you try to 'jumpstart' the phone with just the charger/no battery. These are very much unlikely to work, but you have nothing to lose by trying & sometimes **** truly does happen (I.E one of these methods works).

This method does not seem to work for me.. :/ Well thank you nevertheless! Now I have to wait until the Jig arrive with the DHL. I will post my results!
The usb jig doesn't work for me.. So I think I have to say bye bye s2 and hopefully hello note III ;D

I had that problem 3 weeks ago. I put it on the warranty and they told me that the processor burned and they changed it , for free, They couldn see if the phone had root because the processor was dead. You should try it too:good:

I've tried it but they didn't repair my device because i have a very small crack in my glass and so it's no warranty. The want about 200 bucks for a new glass and touch panal and that's too much for that device in my opinion

[Q] Can't power up device.

As I was nervously trying to install a custom rom, i wipe everything off my device ( HTC Desire X ds ), as per required by the instruction. But before in could install the rom, the device shut itself off. Now I can't even start it on bootloader, it just simply display a black blank after a short htc logo appears. Then after a while it vibrate 7 times in a row. What should I do to fix this, please help me out guys!! BTW thanks in advance

After looking at similar situations to the problem you have, I would try pulling the battery and then seeing if your able to get into the bootloader or recovery mode even. If you aren't able to I would recommend taking a look at this thread where users of the Desire HD ran into a similar problem to yours. Overall, unfortunately warranty or a service center may be the only option for your phone, or JTAG.
Yea, pretty sure that's the built in HTC SOS message for motherboard failure. Sorry. :/ If it makes you feel any better, the chance that was caused from you wiping the phone is next to nil. Think it was just bad timing. These things happen to non modified phones and doing resets and even wiping the system would not cause the motherboard to crap out. Previous comment was right about a JTAG service or sending it directly to HTC would be the only options.
Thanks guys

[Q] iOS to Android and screwed up big time!

Hi there,
After two days of continuous efforts to resolve the issue and reading hundreds of articles and forum threads, I have tried everything to fix the problem to no avail.
I have just recently started using Android (Samsung Galaxy S3 I900T) It was purchased in New Zealand. When my iPhone died, I decided to try Android as I was getting a little sick of iOS. Anyway, since I am a total noob, I followed a great guide here on XDA forums to install a custom ROM. I installed Paranoid following step by step instructions and LOVED it. Everything was working well and I was happy with the "lollipop" as Jellybean was laggy and slow.
I then tried a couple of apps for various tasks that asked me to 'root' the device. I did not really care for it until Cleanmaster asked me to. So I installed an app (can't even remember the name) and it rebooted the phone. Now it is just stuck at "Samsung Galaxy SIII" white logo.
I tried to go into recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Home button + power and it simply won't work. Pressing volume down button however does bring the "Download mode".
According to many articles I have read, it seems my phone is soft bricked. Is there anyone who could help me to fix my phone? I am desperate and would highly appreciate any assistance! Please be kind as I am new to Android OS and pretty much a noob.
I will be checking for replies every 30 minutes in anticipation there might be someone knowledgable here to help me out.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may need to assist me and I will try my best to answer them as technically as possible.
Thank you in advance!
PS- I beg your pardon if I posted this in the wrong section or if I have not given enough information.

Flasback to stock with Odin using firmware from Sammobile here >> http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9300T/ << don't forget that if you get a bootloop after flashing to do a factory reset.

Hi Tallman, thank you for your response. I am currently downloading the recommended firmware (916 MB, 2 days left till completion )
While its being downloaded, I have another question: whenever I connect my phone in "Downloading mode" by pressing volume down + home + power, Odin does not even pickup on the device. It is almost like nothing is even connected. I have installed the latest Samsung driver on my PC.
Would the flashing work if Odin is not even recognizing or acknowledging my device?
Thanks

You have to wait while your stock rom is checked and in the pda box then it should recognize it look here for guides >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/guide-odin-flash-guide-t1671969 << Also I noticed in your first post you put Galaxy S3 I900T did you miss spell S3 I900 because it should be S3 I9300

Indeed, that was my bad. That is why I am so glad I have finally found someone like an expert yourself. The model is GT-I9300T. I missed the 3 in the original post. I believe (I might be wrong) the 'T' is for all the phone sets issued by Telecom (now rebranded as Spark) in Australia and New Zealand.
I have managed to download around 16 MBs lol.
Once again, appreciated your help dude :good:
My suggestion is connect your phone and keep it with Samsung kies for recovery. It would bring your phone back to purchased state.

Thanks for the response.
Kies does not detect any phone. Could it be due to the fact that the bootscreen is stuck in loop? I was loving my Custom paranoid ROM until some motherlicking app forced booted the phone in order to "root it".
I do not want to switch back to iOS and thats why I am so desperate to get my S3 fixed. I have put my SIM in my iPhone until Galaxy gets fixed.
Its strange how much I supported everything Apple back in the and how I much I dislike it now. It's like I have divorced Apple and now my Android mistress is acting up too. :silly:
Odin is too sensitive i guess i too have a s3 GT-I9300 and i have noticed that all usb cords dont work on odin. Try to change the cord it works. The shorter the better. It will surely detect just change the usb cord or try to connect to another usb port.
