(Q) Minimum Volume Too Loud - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I can't seem to find anything about changing the minimum volume. Even on the lowest setting my phone is way too loud during calls, I have to hold it away from my head to be able to tolerate it, anyone know of a fix?

If funny how just 3 months ago, people were complaining about how the volume on these builds was too low and here you are complaining about how is too loud...LOL...I guess the chinese were right when they said, beware what you wish for...LOL

what about "wrapping a cloth on the speakers" trick ? Did you tried that ? Sure it will work!!
@ mazdarider LoL
Enjoy ur phone

Headphone volume

I don't have the phone yet but I've seen people saying that the headphone volume is a bit quiet.
Obviously "quiet" is a personal thing, but if it is quiet (to me), is there a way to make it louder? Music (and satnav) are the two most important things to me.
Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm an Android noob.
If to mean apart from turning the volume up no, though I've found it to loud to listen to comfortably on full volume and I'm 18 not some old guy haha hope that helps

Not quite true......
If you root then you can use dps manager to pump up the volume (Though it is debatable weather or not this compromises on quality).
You could also use the EQ settings in Power AMP to do a the same sort of thing...
I have installed volume+ by Meltus. It also has some eq and bass boost settings too. You can download it from here and doesnt require root. I also use poweramp. I found the biggest gains on the speaker and bluetooth. Be careful with max boost and volume in speaker mode as I got my speaker to pop and stop working for a few seconds but luckily wasnt damaged.

A recent post mentioned the secret code to raise basic volume level .

the title of the thread was called "volume codes". it seemed to have the real deal code fixes, but some said it worked while others said it didnt, so i'm totally confused.
for the people with low volume thru headphones, is this only with the stock headset? or has anyone tried a higher quality headset and sill have low volume?

Lol, you must be the first to report that. Most users say in-call volume is average or even too low. Mine i'd say is average. I wish it was louder on my device

[Q] how to increase speaker phone volume

i use the speaker phone a lot, and although people can hear me well, i have some difficulty hearing them back when im in my car or a mall.
it seems the speaker phone volume is quite low and i have already maxxed out the volume settings and installed volume plus (+3, good quality). with volume plus my devices overall volume is much louder and clearer but my volume levels for the speaker phone, although a little improved, is still too low for my liking.
is there any way to correct this.

Volume + software. Search for it in XDA.

It's not my intention to be offensive here, but have you tried cleaning your ears recently?
It's amazing how dirty can really get an ear if don't clean it regularly and I'm not talking about Q-Tips, I mean really clean it by visiting the doctor who can literally vacuum that s**t out from you.
You won't believe your hearing capabilities after that! You'll feel like superman!
Regards!

i did reply on that thread that the succeeding menu entries were confusing and i was asking for some help on what options to choose for specifically increasing speaker phone volume.
iirc, you were also asking for the same, but for headset settings.

ICS volume too loud, dev request?

so the volume on ics is too loud. volume setting 1 above silent is about volume 3 on gb, which sucks, because I keep my volume on at night and on gb it wouldn't wake me but ics is so blaring that it does.
ichecked an app, it says step one is 24%... so it goes up from silent to 24%. that's ridiculously stupid. it should have steps of like 10,15,then 24...but alas, htc is retarded and always messes simple **** up.
so I bought an app that let's you fine tune it.. great.. and you can set profiles.. awesome.. only problem is the phone randomly for no reason resets the volume back to step 1 at 24% whenever it wants.
is there any dev that could create a mod that has lower volume steps like mentioned? like starting at 10,then 15, then 24 and so forth?

See, I'm completely opposite of you. I would like the volume to be much higher than it is now, because at full volume in a moderately noisy environment I can't hear the thing ring. It's highest setting is unbelievably low...

No offense but wouldn't it be easier to just put the phone on silent if the whole idea is to not have it wake you up? That's what I do. The alarm still sounds on silent mode and that's the only thing I need to hear while I'm sleeping.

no, because i need to hear if my phone rings. notifications are low, and the ringer is obnoxious enough to wake me up, even at the slightest setting.

Idk if sense has it but isn't the notification volume separate from ringer volume if you go into the sound settings.

LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing........
I would appreciate both ends adjusted.
Same issue with the low end being too high, and I would like the high end louder too.
I'm thinking I would like at least AnthraX GB kernel loud on the top end with no app equalizer. And that bottom end needs finer stepping relative to the mids.

what the poster below you said; you can't on ICS. it's not separate anymore. and if the answer is to go back to Gingerbread, then it doesn't even matter if they're separate because the GB volumes are fine! lol
Since you cannot set separate volumes for ringer and notifications, the only thing you can do is to choose a softer sounding notification or choose "silent " as your notification sound. Then an app from the market that will switch your ring tones and notification sounds at different times of the day. I use Volume Ace. It not only allows you to customize all your levels but you can have different tones for different profiles and then set a schedule.

Same here. I could barely hear a thing until I found the file I needed out of the "old firmware patch" to bring the volume back up to audible levels on ICS... and it STILL isn't really loud enough - not nearly as loud as it was in GB...
Just out of curiosity, which ROM and firmware are you running at the moment? I wanna see if I can use the file from that ROM to increase the volume on myn phone! I'm using older ICS with the GB OTA firmware.

OK... well I am on the GB OTA firmware, with the "old firmware patch", so thats HBOOT 2.11 + its associated firmware. I think this is the difference, but honestly I don't know why yet. I'm looking into it, but I'm like 95% sure at this point that if I upgrade to the latest HBOOT and firmware and remove the old firmware patch, then my volume will increase like yours.
Conversely, I believe that your volume will go back down if you went back to the GB OTA HBOOT and firmware, installed the old firmware patch, and stayed on the ICS ROM you're using.
I did that though.. i ran ics with gb firmware and patch and it was still loud.

Well, in that case.... I guess I am as clueless as you are in this matter. Certainly is annoying though... I'd much rather have the volue too loud on average because it can always be reduced... but mine is barely audible during calls especially even at maximum volume. A far worse problem I think, but I guess it depends on your ears.

My ring tone sounds obnoxiously loud in my house, but in my pocket at work I almost never hear it unless I'm wearing headphones.
Too bad the notification volume and ring volume are tied in ICS. What does it take to allow them to work independently?
The only real solution I have to the OP, I think, is find your ringtone, open it up in Audacity, decrease the gain, and add it back into your phone. In this way you could have the ring and notification volumes the same, but your ringtone would be reduced in volume comparatively.
In fact, I just did this. This thread inspired me to change my ringtone volume, otherwise I'd be too lazy, lol.

[Q] Anyway to lower volume

Hi,
I have just switched from an iPhone 4 to SGSIII. When going to sleep I like to listen to tune in radio. The only problem I am finding is that on the lowest volume notch using the volume keys is still too loud for me.
Is there anyway to lower this further?
I totally second this.. I am coming from an age old HTC G1, and i loved how i could have it SO quiet, that i could hold the phone up to my ear at night (the speaker phone side, not the talking side) and hear it just fine but a person laying next to me in bed couldn't tell i was listening to anything.. but with the Gs3 its so loud even at the lowest setting possible that at 4-5 feet away you can hear it.
Not to mention the text alert sound is too loud when I have it at the lowest setting.. On the G1 i could turn it down to the lowest setting and it was quiet enough that if you listened for it you could hear it in a quiet room, but if you weren't listening for it you'd miss it. wish the Gs3 had a little finer tuning on the quieter end
I do that too a lot and the only solution I found so far (sgs2) is to use apps like PlayerPro/PowerAmp for mp3s and XiiaLive for internet radios because they have internal volume control on top of androids one. Gets the volume so low that even at night with in-ear-canal headphones I can barely hear the audio. Not that I do that but still, it's nice to have control of the volume so much.

Poweramp is the only solution I have found but I really like Tunein and that does not have any control. There must be a simple system wide solution. My device is rooted so are there any options?

I'm resurrecting this old thread. I too would love to be able to turn down the volume to as low of a setting as I want. I don't understand why the phone manufacturers don't simply provide that capability!
There is another post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565559 on a technique for the HTC One. I haven't tried it on the S4 yet.
