Ok thanks for the help on getting pc suite going. Now I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong. I went from at&t 1.6 to O2 1.6 to u2 2.1 but now I'm stuck on getting it to 2.2 Rom. Downloaded 2.2 put it on sd card. Downloaded clockwork recovery mod and put it in same folder under "steak" on root of computer. I go into fastboot mode on phone and hook it up to computer. Navigate to streak folder and then type in the lengthy fastboot command to try an flash clockwork recovery to phone. Everytime I get fastboot blah blah blah is not a command or something similar. Don't get what I'm doing wrong. Got this far and now I'm stuck. Please help.
Have you set up ADB? If so, does your streak folder have 'fastboot.exe' or 'fastboot-windows.exe'? Change the command accordingly.
Or you can just download this and you can just click the batch file...
http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/2.5.0.1-streak-clockworkrecovery.zip
I have not set up ADB. My streak folder has the fastboot-windows.exe. Sorry but kinda new to this. Not sure if it's just me typing in wrong command or leaving out a step. Sucks got this far and now I'm going nuts cause I know it's sometimg simple. Well for the experienced at least.
This way i am about to tell you is the easiest way to do it and it is how i got past my troubles: put the recovery img in the c drive(not in a folder) and once youre in fastboot mode drag fastboot.exe into the cmd and press space and enter this:
-i 0x413c flash recovery c:\recovery.stock.img, instead of putting recovery.stock.img put whatever your image says. The easiest thing to do is to rename your .img to recovery.img. now press enter and there you go
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
It should look like this: fastboot.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery c:\recovery.stock.img
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
And the recovery image needed for this step is the one in the "clockwork recovery " thread right. I will try this way later when I get home from work. Thanks
Yes just make sure you get the recovery.alt.img

I am needing install a new rom to my SD card...but can't simply move the file over to my phone at the moment (er, I only have fastboot right now). Can I move a file over using fastboot and then use clockworkmod to flash it?
Lemme Rephrase
OK...lemme rephrase this question so you guys can tell what I am up to:
Is there a way to use Fastboot to install Streakdroid 1.5.3 on my Streak? I have 1.6.1.zip file on my streak right now, but when I attempted to flash the rom, all I get it the Energy Star Bios Screen....I am trying to revert back to 1.5.3 so that I can use the phone. Please advise...as right now I have a brick. I am stuck in the Energy Bios screen and this phone isn't wanting to let go.
When I try to enter "fastboot -i 0x413c update update-1.5.3-nobb.zip", I get the following error message:
archive does not contain "android-info.txt"
archive does not contain "android-product.txt"
If you can get into fastboot can't you use the QDLtool to install a working ROM?

have you try to install the zip file using recovery?
I did the same mistake, try to install via fastboot but it didn't worked.
But then I try it via recovery and install the zip file.
Update To My Issue
Schiz - While I get to the recovery screen, the only ROM I have is 1.6.1, and that seems to be failing
Marvin - I am looking into QDTool now...do you have a link that you would recommend?

Visit streakdroid.com. Read the guides and get what you need from the DL section. I've never had to use the QDLTool.
If you can get into Recovery you can mount your SD card to your computer via USB. Then transfer the file over that way and install ZIP from SD. Your Fastboot update method is incorrect.

I just verified with StreakMod recovery that you can in fact "mount sd card via PC" under the advanced menu.
So, if you are able to fastboot, flash StreakMod recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326
Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot with: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Hold down the keys "volume up" and "volume down" simultaneously while rebooting.
Select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" in the menu
At the Dell Logo press the power button and you will be presented with the Recovery Menu

i recently tried flashing cwm recovery on my atrix and when i did i got a error FAILED <remote: <00180002>> .... i was unlocked but soft bricked my phone and had to flash sbf 1.2.6 will this have any effect on this error? and is it because im not unlocked anymore?
make sure when you boot up the phone it says unlocked when trying to pu the new cwm
Your bootloader needs to be unlocked, if it isn't, it won't work.
I unlocked then flashed to 1.2.6 and I thought if u unloked once your always unlocked
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
yes and no it seems that flashing partially locks just reunlock once unlocked all you have to do is reflash the sbf no need to execute the comands again
I flashed the unlock sbf again and it says unlocked and it sucessfully put cwm recovery on my phone but I can't bott in cwm recover mode anybody no the problem?

Out of curiosity, are you using tenfar's custom CWM, or are you installing it from within the ROM Manager app? ROM Manager's CWM isn't fully working yet, so try tenfar's instead if you aren't using it already. Tell us how it goes.
I am using the one that came with kennethpenns 2.3.4

I'm not really sure which one you mean; did you not use CWM to install Kenneth's 2.3.4? Did his distribution come with a CWM .img file? I haven't used it myself.
Anyways, starting from scratch, if your bootloader's unlocked, all you need to do is go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
And download this file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=641508&d=1309404399
Then download fastboot for Windows if you don't already have it:
http://diamantephoto.com/fastboot.rar
Extract all the files into one folder. I just used my Windows drive root (c:\) to make the commands easier to type.
Then open a command prompt (Start -> type "cmd" in the run box). Type the command "cd (whatever directory you stuck the files in)". In my case, I type "cd c:\".
Once the directory is properly selected, ensure your atrix is connected via USB, power it on while holding the down button, and once you see "fastboot" selected on the screen, press the up button, at which point you will see that the phone's ready to receive commands from the fastboot utility.
Back in the command prompt, type "fastboot flash recovery recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.img". After several seconds you should see confirmation of success. Once that's done, you can tell fastboot to reboot the phone with "fastboot reboot", or you can reboot it manually, once again holding the down button. Then, once "fastboot" appears again, press the down button seven more times to select Android Recovery, then press the up button. Voila, tenfar's CWM with blue text should have loaded up.
I apologize if I was unnecessarily verbose, but I wanted to be as specific as possible.
Thnks I will try
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
i did all that and the only thing that came up was the android guy with an !
So fastboot did report that it had successfully flashed the recovery file? If it didn't properly boot into CWM after that, I'm not sure what to tell you... Come to think of it, I imagine you'll have to have at least 1.8.3 for CWM to work properly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944
Get the SBF from there, and then try flashing CWM again after that.
It said "finished" and im already on 1.8.3
Figured it out

how did you get it to work because i keep getting the little andriod with the !too.
restore fail
every backup i choose in cwm gives the error. it says restoring system ....... then error while formatting /data.
i tried wiping cache, data and dalvik but still no go.
any ideas?
cwm v4.0.1.4

Hello! Sorry for posting this here, Idk if this is the right area for this kind of thing but anyways lets get started!!
Im sorry if this had already been posted, I have searched the forums before to see If someone had found a solution while I was having the error!
Sorry for this, but I posted this already here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370478 So moderators will you please delete the above post! Thanks so much!
This has happened to me so many times, I got frustrated, then I tried this out of the blue and it seemed to work..
Some examples of ROMS that froze on boot on my HTC EVO 3D HBOOT 1.5
All Infected ROMS
MIUI
Synergy
Senseless ROM
CleanRom
and some others..
These are the steps I took to fix the issue!
1. Flash ROM and see if it freezes on boot, if it does start below
2. After flashing rom and confirming that it does freeze.. Boot into bootloader (Power+volume down key) and press the power button while highlighted over fastboot.
3. Plug in your device into PC or MAC
4. Make sure you have the latest android SDK, im pretty sure you do if you have been flashing roms!
5. EXTRACT the .zip file of the ROM that you are using that freezes.
6. Open the folder and copy the boot.img from that ROM
7. Paste that .img into the folder that has your adb and fastboot files for the Android SDK!
8. in terminal navigate to that folder, and do the following commands
PC:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on the PC and most of the time I have issues.. like failing of transferring over of the boot.img.. So far I don't know a way around this besides to keep trying!!
MAC:
Code:
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on my mac as well, and so far I have had no errors! It works everytime.
9. After that reboot your phone..
10. Watch in awe as your phone should reboot and not freeze!

Your problem lies in your HBOOT 1.5.... you need to flash the kernel separately, either the way you described it, or I think theres an app called FlashGUI
or just access recovery from fastboot & flash like normal.
This should be moved

This.
Maybe OP doesn't know about it so I'll guide him.
OP, we appreciate you trying to help but if you follow the steps below you should have no problem.
1. Download the Rom you want and place it on your sd card.
2. Plug your phone in to your computer and open a cmd file where 'adb' is located and type "adb reboot bootloader".
3. Your phone will now restart and boot into bootloader. Now type in "fastboot boot recovery.img". Your phone will now boot into your recovery.
(At this point, you can unplug your phone.)
4. Use the recovery as how you normally would and wipe/flash, etc.
Enjoy.

Yes I do this, and I still have to do what I provided up above. Idk what is wrong with my phone.
Your recovery can't flash kernels. Hence the boot loop.
There is a program in the evo3d theme and apps forum for us 1.5 boot loader users to flash the kernel using an app in android then you reboot to recovery and flash rom.
The app is called flash image GUI

this worked for me it was hanging at the htc white logo screen did this steps and the phone passed the first boot logo and it turned on fine!!!
That's due to not flashin a kernel right or you skipped a part of the wipe.
Virus has this guide for flashing the kernel on his page
The problem with using this "Flash Image GUI" is the FACT that if an individual can't boot a ROM, they obviously can't run the apk.
Individuals with HBOOT 1.5 have two choices in this situation (bootloop)...
Either
1. "adb reboot bootloader" after which you run "fastboot boot recovery.img" (recovery.img must be placed in fastboot directory), then you flash the ROM/kernel in question...
Or
2. Flash boot.img through fastboot (which is what the above "should" do in the fist place).
BTW: If you always have a problem with bootloops, you aren't loading recovery the way you should...
You can either run the commands mentioned earlier in this post, or go to
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.pho?t=1403148
and download the batch in the second post "jthein1989_batch.zip" (you will still need to download and copy the recovery.img to the folder).
Just download twrp or clockwork and copy it as "recovery.img" to the directory that you unzipped the batch to... Then, just follow the OP of my thread...

But you mean you can't select Recorery from Hboot menu? Even if you installed twrp? I don't know much of what I'm doing only had 3d for week. but its locks up at white HTC screen all the time.
Or you could try...

With HBOOT 1.5 you "can" start recovery without ABD, but "S-ON" will not allow you to properly flash to the BOOT partition (limitation of the HTC unlock method). Therefore, users with HBOOT 1.5 need to go to extra lengths to flash the BOOT partition.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Having HBOOT 1.5, I've ran into this very problem. I'm not sure if it's hardware or what, but my phone will not run any Sense 3.5 ROM's I've tried. The phone just won't boot! I gave up trying 3.5 ROM's. I used ABD to put a 3.0 kernel back on and restore the recovery and everything is fine again. This will probably be my last HTC phone. Hoping something better besides the S2 is coming soon.
If you are having trouble with flashing a ROM and getting like a black screen after HTC screen on startup or anything else THEN THIS IS WHY!
IT'S EITHER BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TWRP RECOVERY FOR HBOOT 1.50, or your phone is messed up.
How to get this recovery!
1.) Download the .img file to a folder with fastboot in the folder
2.) Goto the start menu and type run and open run
3.) While in run type cmd and hit enter
4.) Command this by going to your folder with the fastboot and img files are (ex. Mine would be at "cd C:\fastboot" without qoutes)
5.) Go on your phone to bootloader, then coonect USB from pc to phone.
6.) Go to fastboot (it will say fastboot usb)
7.) Go back to command prompt and type in "fastboot flash recovery twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.img"
8.) Once done type in "fastboot boot twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.img"
9.) Theres your correct recovery!
Download is at this http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/twrp-shooter-2.0.0RC0.1.img
Good luck!

Post my issue yesterday the thread was named bootloop from hell. I am trying to use fastboot to flash a new recovery so i can wipe everything since someone said the problem was from my old recovery. I have all the sdk tools installed and the paths set for the commands. but every command i run it says is not specified. Im hoping someone can help me get this goin so i can actually intiate an adb session.
I am on hboot 1.4 soff but i have no recovery now since i flashed the pg86img but it falied to unzip the system step. Someone also told me to use cwm instead of twrp but i cant find the zip all of them are disk images. If i can find the zip to rename pg86img and go into recovery and run virus wipe tool im hoping that will work to avoid fastboot. any help is much appreciated thanks in advance.
Get the files fastboot and the adb in one folder an name the folder 3vorootnew
Then go to cmd an type cd\3vorootnew
Then type fast boot or adb comand
