Hey all. First I will say that I am NOT the creator of this app, nor do I have anything to do with its development. I am simply sharing it since I found a topic on it on the general Android app forums on XDA and have come to love it IMMENSELY.
Features:
-FULL 10-band Equalizer
-Preamp
-BEAUTIFUL and RESPONSIVE clean interface
-Swipe support for changing songs with impressive 3D animation
-Support of just about EVERY music format known to man WITH equalizer and preamp support on all
-Folders as PLAYLISTs support
-Pretty widget
-Easy to navigate, FAST
Did I mention that if you use it on a Galaxy S device (ahem our Vibrants), it can sound VERY VERY impressive due to the Galaxy S having a really high-end sound chip (either the best or one of the best on the market currently). To boost the volume use it in conjunction with Audioboost based on supercurio's audio fix. You can find Audioboost on the market or somewhere on the XDA forums.

Huh... I'm really enjoying Winamp atm strangely enough. Thought I got rid of that bug in 2003, but it keeps haunting me lol
Its a really nice music app but damn the UI is ugly and cluttered.
thank you nice find! love the equilizer! very good bass with the vibrant headset
I'm giving this a try. Thanks for sharing the news about this app.
Buttons look too small. Does it have a widget that consists of just 3 big buttons (next, back, play/pause)? That'll make any player the #1 for me - easiest to use while driving. MixZing comes closest with it's 1x4 widget, Winamp's widget takes up too much room and the buttons are too small.

Haha. I use MixZing for drivign and PowerAmp for headphones now. Reason is this way I don't have to switch equalizers every time. And MixZing (if you open it full or u use the app Shake2PlayNext) is really easy to navigate while driving while PowerAmp has got the EQ powahhh.
thanks for the info about this app. it's great.
im concerned about the battery consumption. even with a widget.
right now im using either MUSIC PLAYER PRO and/or MORTPLAYER. and they both consume battery faster than the stock music player.
I need folder playing, but i really dont need equalizer coz my vibrant sounds AWESOME.
On one hand it can read my .flac file tags properly! On the other hand it doesn't scrobble or have support for non-imbeded album art. If cubed and this player merged it would be perfect! You guys should try cubed, it pretty neat and has the large button widget, but no EQ, although I have never been a fan of EQs.
Does it gave 5.1 digital surround sound for our headsets?

Hah, EQ. Honestly, it's not a feature I need or want, since I only listen to music on my phone in the car, and I have a high-end-ish headunit with full tonal controls. My biggest want/need is largest buttons possible for skipping and play/pause while driving.
PS: Can't use "shake2playnext" when it's in the car mount.
Very nice player! I'm usually not one for players with "busier" UI's, but this one is so well thought out - with very nice animations. It feels very high end. And, I don't have a need for the EQ or tonal controls either.
Let's see if this responds to my Zaggs remote commands. The only one that has so far is mixzing

i own an ipad & it has the best sound quality i ever heard !!
but sammy's musicplayer was lil bit crappy, so Can anyone suggest me a good musicplayer app for SGSII with iPad sound quality ?!!
Try PowerAmp (maybe with some equalizer app), but word is SGS2 will never have good sound, sorry.
Yeah unfortunately the music players don't affect the sound quality, although some allow you to edit the EQ which can help depending on what you're listening with.
My preference is Player Pro. To follow Lifehacker's style...
Where it excels:
- Lots of free good quality skin options
- Reliable lock screen controls
- Can override headset click
- Override volume buttons to allow skip fw/back
- 5 star ratings both in player and on lock screen
- Can show lyrics, download album art automatically
Where it falls short:
- It doesn't seem to have great playlist editing or "smart playlists"
- No iTunes or PC syncing
- The widgets could be better

Thanks cresendo. this also gets installed if you install the acid drivers.
Or just use noozy media player, it has been pulled from the play store, but if you search you will find. It has the EQ built in and is also a very good player. Sounds very clear, crisp and great bass.
gives error on opening the app . unfortunately noozhas stopped. do i need to fix permissions/

EDIT: Everything installed fine. Just can't really tell difference and I cannot understand this new app at all. Any suggestions?
Note to poweramp users, you'll need to up your EQ if the volume is "not working".
Disable EQ and you'll get a vol boost (with the EQ effects), so increasing would compensate for it(naturally).

Just turn off all equalizers in your music/media app, play a song and at the same time play with the settings in the app. Some things might not work though because the libs caused mediaserver crashes for our device. I love the Psychoacoustic sound though, try that!

Yeah, and also need to disable DVC in PowerAMP. Basically any app that has it's on post-processing needs to be disabled for the native effects to do anything.
Can anyone confirm whether 'Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) and 'Volume Enhancement Engine (VE-Engine)' are working for Build-In Audio Monitor (headsets) ?
Edit:
Tried with other more stock-y media players. AVLS works but disables the it's own Digital Preset's EQ.
VE-E can't hear any difference.
VSUR attenuates some middle-to-high frequencies on the mid-side area without any stereo expansion. Kinda counterintuitive but whatever.
Anyway, I'm feeling lazy -
I hope others find more use for this especially for gaming/watching videos/ebook. Good luck discovering those tiny bits and please share them.

CyanogenMod DSP Manager does not work with any of these mods (SRS, BeatsBass, xLOUD).
Kk. If you listen to dubstep then put on your headphones, set large level of psychoacustics and play skrillex equinox best bass I've ever got from my good old koss porta pro.

Just some info -
I am aware that the xLOUD service is unreliable. It is not engaged as soon as the AudioFlinger wakes up, so incoming calls and such usually won't be xLOUD-enabled. But I will say that I'm looking into a possible solution - to remove the xLOUD "Audio Effect service" and merge the code directly in with the media framework. The downside to this is that the ROM will need to be built from source for this - I'm sure wedgess and cj360 can make the change but FXP will probably not care.

I'm looking for a good music app with a fairly decent and modern UI? My favorite music player is n7 Player, but it's not compatible with Dolby Atmos and disables it, so everything else sounds horrible. I've also tried it with v4A, and it does something to it when you get a notification or call and you have to restart your phone for it to work correctly again.
I've tried A BUNCH of them, let me list what I have not and what I've tried.
What I have:
Could Player (by Double Twist) - My current main music app = Good features, but fairly "bland" in the UI dept, but not ugly or outdated - just "bland"
Shuttle + has been my simple, backup player for over 4 years - Just not a not of features, but very reliable and I never have problems with it
XenoAmp = I just started using this one last month, still not sure about it?? Very different, not too logically laid out
What I've tried (most, just this week):
The stock app... Nobody uses the stock app (I don't like it)
PowerAmp (alpha) - Can't stand the UI
Neutorn - Can't stand the UI, reminds me of an 80s video game
Pulse - Is basically like Shuttle
Music Player (by Ankit P Agrawal) - Just found this one, evaluating it before I purchase it
Timber - Not all the album art downloads
AIMP - Didn't like
PlayerPro - I bought the pro version this week, way too laggy and buggy - freezes up, won't change songs
JetAudio HD - Nice, has a noticable volume drop on the speakers - Also has a boring UI
Rocket Player - Love it, but the Cloud Expansion pack crashes the app and makes it unusable. Without it, over half my album art is missing.
Wave Music Player - Don't like
Minima - Still in beta and not a lot of features
Black Player - Didn't like
Pi Music player - didn't like
Flatnote - Didn't like (not all album art downloaded)
Stellio Music Player - I bought it over a year ago, just don't like it
Dub Music Player - didn't like
Phonograpy - didn't like
Vortex - Didn't like
Crimson - Didn't like
Abbey - I wanted to like this one, but didn't load all album art
There's been so many more I've tried, some I didn't like, about 4 or 5 completely disabled Dolby Atmos...... But maybe someone has one I haven't tried?
If you ask what I like??
I want n7 to work again, dang it!
Dark Theme
Easy access to Artist and then an album lay-out under Artist
I'd like an EQ I can use along with Dolby, that doesn't disable it or override it.
A nice "now playing" screen
Album and artist art download for all, or most, of my 2500+ songs
Try Music from Sony. Either search for a port or use the one which can be installed during the installation of Viper arise.
They included one more optional music player called Esira. Just tried it once but I prefer the one from Sony.
Google Play Music is compatible with Dolby and it gets the job done for me.
I'm also using sony music app

Going to try it. loving neutron at the moment, wish they cleaned up UI.
Update: listened it for a bit... I approve the app, will be buying pro version to show support.
I've been using Rocket Player and Jet Audio and I like them both. However, I also have ARISE installed and let that take care of audio enhancement. For me, it comes down to which UI I like best.
Poweramp paid version
I've got the paid/pro versions of:
Jet Audio - Didn't like the fact it didn't load all my album art
Rocket Player - If I want my album art, I have to use the Cloud add-on and it constantly crashses the app. Support thinks its some of my song causing the issue, but can't tell me which ones (even with a catlog).
PowerAmp (my first Android purchase several years ago) - Can't stand the outdated UI any more.
I tried the evaluation period of Neutron, exclusively, and tried to like the UI....But couldn't
This is the newest one I've found that I really like the UI on - But you can't use the built in EQ the same time as Doly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ankit.musicplayer.pro
I'm going to look for the Sony app and try it.

I'm going to look for the Sony app and try it.

You should think about your collection then. Jet audio so far has loaded every single one of my album art and i have 4502 songs

Not sure why, then, Jet Audio won't load 75% of my album art, or artist art? May be because some of it is stuff I've had for 20 years?
But, in saying that... The other two players find 95% of the art?
In the pics, the 1st one is Jet, the 2nd one is Music (Ghost music), the 3rd is Cloud music (by Double Twist)
onkyo.
"err on the side of kindness"
Kind of liking Gone Mad Music player... It's pretty powerful and customizable at the same time, all while being 100% compatible with Dolby Atmos. So, you can leave Dolby on and turn on the Gone Mad EQ and tweak it more and Dolby Atmos stays on. It also populated most of the album art. Artist art is just a list, but I guess I'd rather have it all one way instead of missing an artist picture.
Double Twist Cloud Player is what I've been using for the past 6 months and still like it, I guess I'm just a little bored of the UI - But it is also compatible with Dolby Atmos in the same way.
I like the Sony music app (found it in the Apps & Games section here on XDA), but it only uses the system EQ (Dolby Atmos), which is fine for a quick and easy music app.....But I'd like to be able to use Dolby Atmos along with an apps built in EQ to fine tune my audio player without the need to adjust Dolby each time I need to fine tune my EQ, because Dolby is not the easiest to do a fine tune adjustment to.... You have to start all over when you touch it.
How did you install the Sony music player? Package installer says the app isn't compatible. Are you running stock?

I'm stock rooted 7.1.1.
Here's the one I used: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...sony-xperia-music-9-3-5-0-0-port-apk-t3555386
The problem with most of the players around is that they don't play every format. I use VLC (nightly version). It just plays everything.

That'd the issue. I used the apk from APKMirror. Thanks
I've been using the Gone Mad Music Player for the past week now and I think this may have filled the void I was missing with a music app! Looks GREAT, sounds GREAT, very customizable, easy to use and all my album art fills in.
I have purchased gone mad power amp and neutron. After setting them up I like the sound you can get out of neutron the most. Ui is rough learning curve is rough but the sound is sweet.
The new very stable poweramp beta is amazing
Yep. I found an awesome solution. There's a stable beta in production of poweramp. I know... Great UI.... Mediocre sound, right? Not anymore. It's absurdly good. Whole new build focused on audiophile sound quality. Its literally the best sounding player I've used on android and I have some good earphones.
To get it to work with dolby atmos you need to change a setting. Under Audio/output / select high res output (experimental). Works beautifully on the axon. Poweramps eq is much better than dolby's 4 band and you can use it with dolby.
Under advanced tweaks / enable musicfx.
There is also an experimental feature to add more volume notches in the audio volume control in the advanced tweaks section.
With the right pair of headphones this player sounds ridiculously good! Make sure your axon is set to headset hi-fi in the sound settings.
Just Google search poweramp beta it might be available on the bottom of the poweramp Google play page as well.
Audio nirvana!
Cheers!
This is a mod of the Spotify Lite v0.6.6. The official Spotify app for Wear OS is not able to stream music standalone. Sideloading any Spotify works but the UI is obviously giant on Wear OS - see this recent Spotify screenshot from Wear OS.
It's possible to change system wide density but it takes away the usability and look of Wear OS. I did a quick experiment with pure resource mod and it works surprisingly nice so I'm sharing it with you. Downscaling other well written apps is therefore possible.
What it took:
Replace all sizes (dip/sp in layouts, dimens etc.) - I divided them by 2
Few quick fixes - set bottom tab layout alignment to center instead of fill, set custom height for actionBarSize, set horizontal margin for toolbar (so far only on Home screen)
It takes only quite a few commands to create such downscaled modded app. The current version of the size replacement script is really ugly and slow but I think that it would make a great universal script/tool for conversion of any user app (right?)...

Spotify Lite mod is attached to this post. (Lite version doesn't support offline playback but the whole app is supposed to be snappy.)
Full version of modded Spotify (8.4.62.490) is available from mega.nz or AndroidFileHost. Mod v2 (improved top toolbar): mega.nz or AndroidFileHost.
Here's the raw (but trivial) tool - WearModder.jar
How to use it:
Code:
# Decompile apk
java -jar apktool_2.3.3.jar d spotify-lite.apk
# Mod resources (use directory or individual files as arguments)
java -jar WearModder.jar spotify-lite/res
# Perform additional manual tweaks
# Build apk
java -jar apktool_2.3.3.jar b spotify-lite
# Sign
keytool -genkey -v -keystore my-release-key.keystore -alias alias_name -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 10000
jarsigner -verbose -sigalg SHA1withRSA -digestalg SHA1 -keystore my-release-key.keystore spotify-lite/dist/spotify-lite.apk alias_name
WearModder modifies all files in-place so do not run it more than once on the same files (d'oh). Feel free to try modding your favorite apps and let me know how well it works.
Update 2018/10/04: Uploaded mod of Spotify Lite v0.9.5.
Chech also uploads of others who shared their (newer) versions.
This is probably the coolest thing I've seen here for a while! If this app would have existed when I had my Huawei Watch, I probably wouldn't have sold it!
GJ. This could be a game changer for Wear OS. Sad that such things doesn't come from Google directly.
I want to see more screenshots of such apps!
Great! It's possibile to download offline music using a premium account?
Thanks
Amazing job!
I am testing this like for an hour now and well it is buttery smooth on my old but amazing Huawei Watch.
I used Wearify (third party app) for spotify music on my watch without the phone but this app was limited to playlists only.
With this solution i can search for music on my watch and play them. and it works really well.
only think to note for people with spotify premium:
I have spotify premium but it shows only the option to shuffle play and i CANNOT save music for offline playback.
but still i wasn't expecting offline playback. only think i expected was a horrible but at least working search button.
But while it is true that it works, it is such an amazing smooth experience so well done!

You can't with Spotify Lite yet
Could you do the same with the normal Spotify app? So that we get offline playback! Thanks!
I'm not a Spotify subscriber but I will try modding the full version of Spotify next (I'm really curious how well it will go). I have just learned that there is "Wearify for Spotify" (also online only) so something for actual offline playback is welcome I guess.
How can i install it? Thanks

adb install app-name.apk
Let me know if you need help testing offline playback, if you think of a way to include it somehow.
Thanks for the work!
Not playing anything for me in my Huawei Watch 2. It opens it finds songs but cannot play them it says something is wrong with internet (even it can find whatever you search)...

I've been working on offline playback but that's sadly not that easy, current download implementation consists of ripping the audio stream and saving it as ogg file, works but slow since 1h of music takes 1h to download. And obviously I can't put that on the play store. If you're interested feel free to look at the source.
This is great. Especially useful for people with sim-enabled watches such as the LG Watch Sport.
@moneytoo there's a request a few threads down of trying to use the Polar Flow wear apk (not the full phone one) on Wear OS watches that aren't the M600. Because the apk is only designed for the M600 which has a 240x240 display, all the elements are off place on watches with other res displays. Would you be able to take a quick looksy and see if you could work your magic on resizing the apk for other watches? In this case the resolution actually needs to be scaled up.
Would love to be able to use the Flow apk on my LG Watch Sport which has a 480x480 screen.
I can help provide the most up to date apk if needed.
If anyone has connectivity issues with this mod, this is because of a missing wear connectivity API implementation in this phone app.
You can compile and install the following google sample app: https://github.com/googlesamples/android-WearHighBandwidthNetworking
This app gives you a toggle to enable/disable high bandwidth.
I have just added link to modded version of the full Spotify to the first post. The bottom bar still doesn't look right but it should be manageable. Let me know if offline playback works.

Wow, that's a huge step forward! I already tested the full mod, and it's incredibly slow on my brand new ticwatch pro, though. Took awhile to load the login screen, then much patience to login (bg animation = lag), but the home screen isn't so bad. Unfortunately that's where the usability stops, because I can only scroll up/down to see the latest playlists/albums, and trying to queue one for offline download is broken because the app thinks I was on cellular, despite wifi being enabled. I couldn't access the settings interface to override this. I don't have a small smartphone, and without gesture functionality or an interface redesign, I can't imagine a usable interface from the main app that shows everything one might hope to operate..
hey guys,
i tested the full version on my ne ticwatch pro, because of some connetction issues with the spotify wear app.
the full version (by moneytoo) worked fine, exept some usability problems because of the resultion with 400x400px
if searched for one of my public playlists and it was possbile to download the songs. disconected my watch from the wlan and the songs could stil be played.
could it be possible to adjust the dpi settings in the app for 400x400px?
not only the bottom bar, althoug the settings button and the searchbar are out of the screen.
I've just uploaded another mod of the full Spotify that should work better with the top menu/toolbar across devices (hopefully).
