Hi Guys,
This maybe a stupid question but here goes anyway...
So I've been using the Mozart since last Friday and I'm loving it. It has a pretty smooth interface and the marketplace works really well for me not to mention the Zune integration. )
However I'm either being blind or just plain stupid, how do you set a custom ringtone?
By this I mean how do I set my ringtone for all contacts to be a mp3 of my choosing?

WP7 simply doesn't seem to support custom ringtones at the moment. The guide does mention searching in the marketplace for ringtones though.

I suppose this is the price we pay for being early adopters

Got mine as-well, and I must say I am not impressed about that most things are locked and you cant customize the phone.

from what i have read there is a update due out tomorrow and there may be a fix for the ring tone problem. hopefully the update is out tomorrow and we all get to see the new goodies. fingers crossed.

Anyone else has no GSM receiption after flashing Beta2?
Reflashing the original vodafone ROM does not work for me as bootloader beta0.2 has a bug with USB connectivity.
Any hints for me?
No one else has this ROM, so we wouldn't really be able to help you.

maybe. to be technical though. we dont really watch whats a beta 1, 2, etc... on the internal test builds eather
Alright well I got my HTC HD2 a few weeks ago, and I was searching around Google and stumbled apon xda-developers.com I found a few cool things for my phone like CHT, and a few other apps...but I dont see the big picture here. What are ROMs? Are they operating systems? and what does everyone mean by "flashing a rom" or something like that. Haha im sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum. Could someone just enlighten me on this stuff, and maybe suggest some cool things I can do to my phone, or some apps i should get.
First off the search button is your friend ...
So I am going to give you a quick explanation and you can search and look in the various threads for your answers ....
A ROM is the the component of your phone where your Operating system and included apps are stored ...
The term ROM on this site refers to "Replacements" for the stock system that is installed on your phone, sometimes there are updated stock ROMs here too ..
There are certain things you need to know before considering flashing a ROM and you can find that info in various threads here ...
If you have a TMO US HD2 then you have to make sure the ROM is compatible, TMO US HD2 is a little different than the International one , more ram for one thing.
Now some ROMs have more things than a stock ROM some have less, it is all about personal choice when it comes down to that, some ROMS are more stable than others, some are faster, just depends ....
The Developers of these ROMs, or "Cooks or Chefs" as they like to be called, may do some serious customizing to their ROMs or leave them close to stock, again a personal choice for you ...
I would suggest you do some reading on Flashing, and about your hardware, the only problem with starting to flash your phone is, it is addictive ....

Hahahahaha. You too? Yeah we got these like the week after they came out and a buddy of mine told me about this site and I've been hooked on it since. Then the GF gets mad when I'm looking stuff and chaning themes and stuff. She says that its stupid, but the second i offer to change the theme on her phone, it ain't stupid then

Now that you've mentioned it, my gf would be angry when i am with my 'gadget' cos this hd2 is like a swiss army knife for me. Using it for picts, vids, games, work, net..heck, this current hd2 doesnt even do calls. Only does my mobile broadband.
btw. there's no perfect rom.(before you ask this) The only perfect ones are the ones that you favour most.
GF is one thing, wife is another entirely.
But I agree, its not so stupid when you are improving her phone

i just flashed cognition s2 to have a try out, finished what i was doing - flashed the stock kg6 and then mine...no bootloops (cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe and factory reset performed)
i get boot loop issues if i try and flash villainrom (following the instructions to the letter) - i dont know why but it seems not all phones will flash all custom roms

That message relates to an instant chat messaging box, nothing else...is it stopping you from doing what you want on the website?

for paranoid people like you, who also dont know who websites work (or even ask before spouting off) i have removed chatrolls instant messaging chat box from my website...who knew adding something in to help with questions would make people stupid?
ive been cooking firmwares for the samsung i8910 for 1 & 1/2 years now, never had a complaint about the website during that entire time apart from when it got hacked ...what great people on this forum

The obvious answer would be: If you don't like it, don't download it.
You make it sound as if he is forcing you to sign up with your precious email and download from his server..and when things don't turn out the way you wanted you start to insult him and his work?
Oh come on..this is no way to behave on XDA, which i have always seen as a friendly place with respectable and polite posters.
As for the fact that Darkside Agent doesn't have as high a post count as you in here is because he is fairly new to the Android modding scene + XDA. But he is quite well-known and trusted in other phone modding forums..something you could have found out if you had bothered to actually read his website a bit more thoroughly.

So you went in to mounts and storage and clicked on format system? factory wipe/reset will not format system just in case you were unaware

I think I read somewhere theres a browser out called Google that does something like that. Just a simple question looking for a simple answer old_fart. This post made me laugh.
Anyway, I believe you can find the changelog for the B&N firmware updates on their website somewhere. I haven't read anyone who was really impressed with anything after upgrading though.

Kind of what I was going for. Alway's heard old_fart was a tough nut to crack. So thought I would give it a go. All in fun. Some people say stay with it and some people say upgrade. Just get's a bit confusing as to what you gain or lose.
But I will definitely try that Google search engine thingy I've been reading so much about.

I obviously can see the baseband has changed but what I was asking being not as clued up as you lot was what does it mean?
