After trying in vain to get Tomtom to work of navipalen I bit the bullet and bought copilot v8 (only £27) and low and behold still doesnt work with navipanel. What am I doing wrong thought this is what it was suposed to work with???
I am running artemis v37 have uninstalled TT7 installed COPILOT8 when in the car kits navipanel only shows make a call
any help appeciated TIA

ive read through all the stuff i cn find on here bout setting up tomtom 5 and im still none the wiser, ive tried setting it as other NMEA device, bluetooth device, all the comports, downloaded bluetooth tools etc...
so can somebody tell me in idiotproof terms please, how do i get my MDA (original version runnin WM2003SE), tomtom5 and a BT-77 bluetooth GPS receiver running?

If it is really a MDA (Version I) than it do not have any Bluetooth support otherwise, there are several threads here in the forum about this problem, and also on the support site of tomtom.....

ok i think i had the same prob as you
i has paired up my gps device but was not getting an option to activate it on tomtom, this was version 5 , but when i upgraded to 5.21 hey presto!! i got about 5 extra com port options as to the 2 i was getting with the version before
maybe the version 5 just isnt really the mda's friend !!

hi everyone.
sorted a mate with tom tom 7 on his charmer with newest wm5 official (o2). program works fine, but the problem is linking with his copilot gps bt module.
it all works well until the GPS MODULE is turned off, like you would overnight.
when turned back on, the pda asks if you want to connect. saying yes prompts for the passcode for gps module, but now have to re-do all settings on pda and tom tom, before it will work.
i tried it with my hermes running wm6.1 pro, and i dont have a problem.
any ideas?
Install WM 6.1 on Charmer. (Maybe this works cause you said it works on Hermes.)
i will as a last resort. i was just wondering if anyone else had come across this problem before
Found way around the problem. Tried a different GPS unit, works brilliantly.

I've connected bluetooth GPS to 3125, seemed to be OK (it asked about pin and after that info about equipment beeing connected).
Unfortunatelly GPS software doesn't communicate with GPS equipment. It is searching for bluetooth GPS but doesn't find it. I tried to set connection (port, baud rate) manually but I don't know which COM port is assigned to bluetooth
Is there any way to check this on ?
P.S. I've installed WM6.1 standard by Erofich

I found that bluetooth is using COM6.
The biggest problem was in finding properly working GPS software

I tried WM6.1 pro for a while but found WM6.1 standard more handsome since I manly want to use my phone simply as a phone
Anyway I'm still missing a good GPS program for navigation which is not intended for touch screen devices.
For now I stucked with Sygic McGuider (http://www.sygic.com/)
It doesn't need touch screen and StarTrek (or At&T 3125) is on the list of compatibile devices. MCGuider runs on STK quite fairly, I didn't noticed any major errors, maybe if it was little faster? (I know that it is possible to overclock this phone but i'm not quite sure about it
Anyhow, I'm stiil searching for some simple GPS track loging software
I looked around a bit and on smartphone-freeware.com I found these two programs:
gpsVP
chtiGPS
both seem to be able to do the loging. And the first one might even be worth trying as a navigation software for me.

Hi Guys just wondering if this is common problem for the S740 ?
I was using my phone today with Mcguider I saw some bars pop up trying to get lock then since that it says hardware error and freezes the phone if I attempt to go into mcguider and the same occurs when I try google mpas with GPS.
Just wondering if this is a freak hardware failure or common fault so time to get a different model like HTC HD2.

No its not an common problem......the GPS from Rose works still great for me...i´m using Sygic and Google Maps and all works perfect.....I think you should try to Reset your Phone....maybe an Software-Problem....or if you have to much money buy a new Phone... ;-)
I had problems like this in the past.
Had the same error this weekend and I think it has something to do with the QuickGPS data. I deleted the xtra.bin in the \Windows folder rebooted (did not redownload quickGPS data) and waited for a regular fix and it didn't hang on using GPS after that.
When I had this error in the past (2-3 times a year) it just worked again after a while without me doing anything. Thats why i suspect the QuickGPS data as it times out after 7 days.

Whenever trying to use a gps program the phone locks up. I tried reflashing the WM6.5 rom again but still no luck. But i'll try this quickgps thing.
Anyone know where I can find the gps settings? (it's com4 ?)

Thanks I did reset the phone and now it works once again so I guess it is a common issue.
Nope I don't have too much money I just want a phone that works perfectly for all my gadget needs and up until this point it has been perfect shame they are not making a new model it appears that the candybar phone is getting less and less popular
I am having the same problem, i tried installing Sygic mobilemaps 10 and when i come to the language selection screens the phone wont respond to anything, it will launch the gps quickfix application in the back so i think it has something to do with that. resetting the phone does nothing. problem remains when i install sygic again. Anyone an idea ?

Okay i don´t know about QuickGPS....i make the Update via Wlan manual and its disabled to download automatic when Navi runs and i had never probs with Navi on this phone...for me its the best phone i ever had...
...and it sucks that HTC doesn´t make a new Version of this phone....

true its an great phone..... i will try old mcguider 2009 on it again.
I use the 2009 Version and it works Great for me on Frauhottelmanns 6.5er V1.00 there is no need to Upgrade to sygic v10...... "Never touch a running System"....;-)
well i received a message that my trial has expired on mcguider 2009 .... so thats why i figured lets try the new version....
Have upgraded to HD2 and using my diamond2 just as a tomtom.
Currently running latest TESS rom on it but does anyone have any recomendation for a super quick/lightweight ROM for just running tomtom on or how to have it just boot into tomtom?

I only use tom tom when I want a fast, dirty and quick gps soft so I never saw any problem with any rom at all. Tom tom is already fast, how faster do you want it ?
I have switched to igo primo for my main gps tasks. It'seasier for my wife and somehow it seems to get a gps fix far quicker than tom tom with energy rom. But of course the 3d features slow the soft after that.
Well I have removed touchflo 3d from today and deleted pkg from the startup folder.
main trouble now is how to bypass the "sim card is missing" screen, I have turned phone communications off which does it but this disables the gps.
Any idea's please?
ps any ideas if it possible to further speed up the loading of the OS?
