Hey, Dont abit of searching and cant find anything clear.
Im abit of a noob on this flahsing business.
Atm I have the Energy WinMo ROM and shubcraft android ROM on my HD2. My brother recently got the Desire HD and I love how it all works...
Basically ive seen something that this is the Android Build I need to download:
http://gamesquare.co.uk/DesireHD/
And then something about a kernal from the proper site? No idea what im supposed to do with that but if anyone could send me in the right direction on where the best Desire HD build is and howto install this Kernal I would be greatful

First, you need to decide whether you want to keep WinMo or not:
If you want to keep WinMo then you have to run Android from SD using Haret (starting winmo then starting android) or Magldr (starting android before winmo starts) builds that use these methods are usually referred to as DAF builds. They're easy to use, fast to a point, and WinMo will be intact.
the other method is NAND, which means removing WinMo completely and put android in it's place. They're fast to start, overall performance is faster (but still debatable in some points), and usually have slightly lower battery consumption.
I'd recommend trying an SD build before you start using android. try it for a week or so and then decide whether you want to continue or not.
there are plenty of reliable SD and NAND DHD builds on XDA, most of which have screenshots on first post, and a list of what's working and not working. I think all of them comes with the proper kernel for that build, and there are guides in Android forum to guide you through.
hope that helps

I have been messing with android on my blackstone for a while now and would love to run it on my athena, I have a copy of 1.0 android that boots that was posted ages ago on here, and have tried to no avail to boot a later version either 1.5 or 2.0.1.
I feel that its pretty close but need someone with some linux/android experience as I think the problem lies in the initrd file.
With this is mind if there is enough interested I would like to see how many people would be willing to donate to a developer/developers to get this running on the athena?
I have seen bounty threads before and they seem to work, so post if you interested in donating to the cause.
What about perfectng the wm6.5 ROM along side the Android for takers?
Thanks mate.
in all honesty i have a x7500 im actually going to sell my iphone and get a x7510 just to have them both .. if im gonna get rid of an iphone i dont think i'd be going to an android
i too am very excited about this as have android 2.1 working on Blackstone so you would like to see it om here. i am not a dev in that sense but i am happy to contribute in any way.........cash not a problem
By the looks of it not many people want android for athena? for anyone who does bear with me as I am spending a huge amount of time behind the scenes working on trying to port 2.0.1 with some help from some experts
Would find Android an interesting idea
Hello avergerpenguin,
Would be very interested in seeing this happen, I have been keeping an eye on your work for WM 6.5 but not yet had time to try flashing one of the roms but if your work on there is anything to go by then I'm sure this will be good. Is this going to be full rom for the phone or run as an app over the top of win mobile?

At present it is not possible to run android without winmo, however mitchy has created a rom for diamond that only loads the drivers etc needed and then autoloads android meaning that you cant get to the winmo underneath.
But firstly I need to compile a working android kernel, see what does and doesnt work and then go from there and possibly create a android only rom, but depends on functionality
I am in avengerpenguin
Id love it on the x7510
Android on Athena
I would love to have Android on my Athena, or even Maemo5
Hey Avengerpenguin, I am VERY VERY interested in Andriod on my Athena. I would love it. I am happy to make a donation to help this along if there is a real chance of us getting it going. I wish I knew how to develop so I could help out that way, too.
New Advantage user also interested in Android. I flipped my mytouch to pick up a G1 to use Android and an Advantage for everything else!
Looks like we're preparing to declare against the new dell mini 5 tablet. Its neat to see how ahead of their time these athenas really were.
Also interested in Android on Athena
Now that it looks like WinMo is a dying OS (no new versions after 6.5), I'm also interested in Android.
The new Windows Phone 7 isn't going to be based on WinMo, so I have nothing to gain by staying with Micro$oft software.
Would love to avoid buying a new phone for as long as possible. The Athena has everything I need in it; all I'd have to do is obtain new programs, which I'll have to do anyway.
I am late to the party, but ya, android would be awesome to have. I still have my athena kicking around, and would love to really use it again.
Very interest in Android
Please do this. Thanks for all your work
I'm 100% looking forward to using my Athena again if Android 2.1 can be made to work. It's a sensible OS moving forward given that wm6.5 is towards the end of its life cycle.
Cheers.

thought you had dropped off the planet, nice to see you still around

Hi Jay,
I went off and bought a Touch HD. Sold it and got a 3G, followed by a 3gs. Hence the absence. But I still have my Athena with an almost dead battary though. Each time I turn it on I'm always attracted by it's hugh and beautiful screen. Somehow I find myself unenthusiatic about using winmo applications again after using iPhone, sorry to say. That's why I hope to see Android on it. It would really Be an awesome device once again I reckon if that's done.
BTW, which is the newest and most popular ROM you guys are using these days? Might try it out for fun before Android is available for my Athena.
Cheers and good to be home.

Me personally, I have been using Lennie's 6.5 rom. I have not liked 6.5 at all before Lennie had his latest V3.00 out, and now I quite like it. I would still say that 6.1 has the edge for ease of use and speed, but Lennie's latest offering is much improved on speed and looks. We dont have many cooks left on here now, so people seem to be trying out some of the old stuff again. We seem to be getting posts from roms way-way back now. I have a G1 myself now, and very good they are to. I do like to keep up with the WM stuff still.
I have just bought HTC HD2 and would like the experts to assist me with few things
Windows mobile 6.5 is currently installed on the mobile, i have seen lots of videos and reviews to about having android system on this mobile; i do not have lots of options in the wimo operation system like the android and therefore would like to install it on my device.
my questions are.
do you recommend moving to android or should i stick to the current winmo?
what is the best, fastest and least problematic ROM to choose and how to install?
if i found out that the android system is not upto the standards in terms of speed and functionality; how can i go back to the previous winmo version?
i am new in the forum and i hope that i get the best help from the experts,
thanking you in advance.
There are multiple "Android How-to" threads. I recommend reading them. They will explain better than I can here how to do this.
Do I recommend you switching? If you like to play around with your phone and tinker then my answer is yes. If you want something that you never have to work on and will oppetate 100% at 100% of the time, then I say buy a Samsung flip phone... just kidding. Go for it. It can't hurt.
How to get back if you don't like android? Delete it from tour SD card. DONE.
Most stable build? Personal preference is Bangsters 1.5. They are all good though. Each has it's own quirks, but no deal breakers.
Take a few hours. Do some reading on this forum. Pick you build. Start flashing. Just remember, any time you modify your phone from stock you are taking a risk. That's why I say do some reading. Just like school; if you took the time to prepare you will be fine.
Best of luck. Welcome to the real HD2.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
make attention to have the right radio version.
Android builds request minimum the 2.08 radio version.
Done......!!
I wanted to post on another thread, but since I haven't got a post count, I can't.
(member for almost a year though)
I currently have a Samsung i9000, which is purely for dev & test purposes.
(I just bought a HTC Desire S for daily use).
I will also have a HTC Hero as soon as a new battery arrives. (on order)
I am willing to to test anything, from custom roms to apps, nightlies etc..
I've a fair bit of experience in beta testing of PC software, and used to be a windows dev myself.
I know how to write bug reports
For now I'd like to focus on testing on the Hero and the i9000, as I need a working phone for daily use. (and I haven't played with the Desire S enough to not screw it up)
On the i9000 I can flash any ROM you want me to test apps on (official ones: 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.3.3, 2.3.5, 2.3.6), ICS, Cyanogen or MIUI.
The Hero I haven't been able to try anything yet, since I can't boot without a battery.
I'm seriously interested in this one for instance:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518731
I'm using a dedicated macbook for playing with this, which dual boots into win7.
Let me know if there is anything I can add, thanks to reading this forum I've learned a lot about android and the tutorials are excellent!
(hence me being a member for so long, without questions...)
Cheers & thanks for this great resource, it's time to give back!
Max
(sorry if in wrong forum, i think its correct though)
hi, ive had an HTC EVO 4G for almost 2 years now, and rooted for 3/4 of that. it is currently rooted with AOKP milestone 5. Ive flashed dozens of roms, used UOT, and played with different scripts and such, but lately I can't stick to one rom that I like. so now I would like to create my own rom. i am in the process of installing linux ubuntu 12 on a VM on another partition (250 gb, and truecrypting it, personal reasons), and dsixida's android rom. now I was wondering if this would be the best for a beginner or not. also i created a github, dev-host, java, dedicated email account, and the xda account for it. I've been looking through several posts and guides on xda and other websites, and wondering where I should start. I would prefer to create my own AOSP 4.0.4 rom, but if need be ill start with modding an OTA, or 2.3.x AOSP, or cyanogenmod 7 or 9. Because all I want is somewhere to start and build up my know-how on building roms, and get to the more advanced stuff as soon as I can. and besides the evo (with a 16 GB SD card), I also got a new nook tablet (16GB+8GB), and im using an acer aspire 5552, which is quad-core 2.2GHZ, with 4GB of RAM and a 640 GB hardrive, and my wifi is 25-30 mb/s wireless, and 45-50 mb/s wired (dont use that computer, parents), so hardware is not my problem, and I have several hours a week to work on it, so all i need is what software to use and setup, and how to use it. Also if possible, I would like someone to personally mentor me and start me up, and possibly work on projects with me. thank you to however reads my long and rambling post (im tired and its late), and please help me if you can.

its taken care of. if a mod can please lock this it would be appreciated
I know, I know, the folks that created this are non compus here at XDA now. No mention of their "brand" or roms, and all that. The old threads are locked. And I KNOW they are not popular with the mods. BUT, I am an XDA member and I find myself needing some help. I am hoping that someone here has the old Core Cell Evo v4.1 rom saved somewhere. I used to, in two places, a RAID 1 array (died such that both drives were trashed, oh boy) and an SD card (which now will not be read by either Linux or Win 7). But it seems you can never have too many backups, although you can definitely have too few, which is my dilemma. Here's the deal, I have this rom on my HD2 and on two friend's HD2s, one of whom had a hardware issue and needs a clean install. I also run an older SD version of an Android rom developed by the same people (but XDA will not allow me to mention their names or the rom name) as a dual boot. When I lost my backups of the Core Cell rom, I also lost the backup of that Android rom. And the links to these roms are either removed from XDA (the Android roms) or are no longer working (on a hotfile site that is defunct). The roms I want were not part of the whole mess that got these folks banned from XDA, in fact the Core Cell threads are still up on XDA with links and whatnot intact (though not functional because of the demise of hotfile). All I want is to get copies of these roms to fix my friend's phone and to have as backup in case I need to do a fresh install on my phone or my other friend's phone. The roms work well and we are familiar with them, so we don't want to go through a whole learning curve on a new rom if we can avoid it. And as I said these roms predate the whole controversy that lead to these folks "leaving" XDA. I have tried to get ahold of the people involved directly, but so far have not heard back from them. And my friend is without a phone while I try to sort this all out. If anyone has backups of these roms they could send me, I would be VERY grateful. It would save me a whole lot of trouble and let me get my friend back up and running. Again it is Core Cell Evo v4.1 and the Android rom was v0.8
I hope no one takes offense. I am just trying to keep my phone (and my friends' phones) working and I am hoping there is someone out there in XDA land who is also running these roms or at least did at one time, who might have backup copies of them.
Just Try a New One ... I'm sure you will like it ...

Dear friend ... As I know both Roms are as old as the WWII tanks ... I know it's hard to get them ... but for android , I think you will like RAFDROID - MCCM HD they are the same as the ROM ( I think it was made by Sergio76 , am I right ? ) and also for WM 6.5
I think you will enjoy using Energy and also Artemis ROMs ... Their The bests ... I'm sorry but I don't think you can found it ... I recommend you to google it ... maybe you can find something that way ... Good luck
With best Wishes
