I currently have the Droid X Multi-Touch keyboard working on my Vibrant, but the only issue is the font. I know its not that big of a deal but a fix would be nice?
For those who have it, provide link for US who love the keyboard!!!

Supposedly its in the new Axura ROM, you could pull it out of there.

I have already tried that method. It aprently only works on Froyo 2.2, not 2.1 and most of us are running 2.1

if you use it on any other device i9000/captivate the letters are fixed also on any rom for vibrant with the i9000 kernel so the issue with the kb originates from our kernel

I don't believe so. Its, more likely then not, due to a library issue, since the vibrant theme is slightly different than others.
Has anyone tried it on JI6.

Hi,
I've tried the Droid X (2.1 mod version) keyboard on all the JI series leaks, and the final OTA JI6, and the keys still render tiny, for me.
I've also tried pushing the libjni_latinime.so from a captivate rom to my phone, and still no luck, tiny keys.
So, I'm lost on anything else to try except thinking its somehow kernel related, since flashing a rom with a kernel built from i9000 source, renders the keys properly.
If I remember correctly, even in the earliest days of Vibrant modding, when flashing the very first clockwork recovery betas (the versions that actually included kernels built from i9k source and weren't simply loaded into the ramdisk the way it is now) the keys rendered properly too, can anyone confirm?
I still hope we get this fixed, since GPS is a deal breaker for me, so until we have a vibrant froyo leak to pull GPS drivers from, I'm sticking with 2.1 builds.
Anyway, cheers everyone, =)

I hope someone can fix this. I absolutely love the Droid X multi-touch keyboard. Its the most accurate and fastest I've ever typed on a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard. With the keys font size fixed it'll be 10/10
Anyone, please
I tried ripped the version from the Rom itself but I get a parsing error.
nothing yet?
I've discovered only one good alternative to multi-touch keyboard. Its a Smart Keyboard. By default it slower but if you decrease multi-type delay and swipe-sensivity it will became better.
This thread is Major FAIL. Where is the fix....

Hi,
The only problem is the version is his 2.2/Axura rom isn't modified to work on 2.1, now, if someone can point me to a howto on modifying the keyboard to work on 2.1, I'd do that tonight, lol.
UPDATE:
I re-downloaded Master's newest Axura 1.0.3 and decompiled so I can diff the KeyboardView.smali files (this seems to be the file controlling the key font size) and I don't see any difference in the code between the two relating the private field that motorola use mKeyTextSize, so at this point, its beyond me, hopefully master will be kind enough to post his edit, or another dev can look into this.
Sorry, but I just don't see why the keys display fine on i9k/captivate/fascinate/etc., but tiny on the vibrant, and yet display fine on the vibrant with an i9k kernel.
Cheers, =)

He did not have to edit the smali file in the 2.2 keyboard, just the 2.1 keyboard(most likely for personal use). it works just fine since all the 2.2 roms are using a modded i9000 kernel. That said, you are bringing up a really good point, why is the kernel causing such interesting behavior.

I am only posting this so those who like to try new things can try this setup. It is not for everyone, but my phone is amazingly snappy, apps are opening pronto, and my battery/gps are perfect.
I am currently running Eugenes Ginger Clone R2:

Notes: this does not have the shortcuts in the notification bar and also does not have swype (note the name of the ROM.... dont complain about this).
After my initial boot and getting everything all setup I flashed the JL4 stock + voodoo, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
With Eugene and supercurio combined the only way I am going to shift from this is if they themselves update, or Cyanogen comes out... stronly suggest trying this out. Be certain you are comfortable with this before trying it. You will need to disable voodoo before flashing anything else.
to disbale, go to the sdcard/voodoo folder and create a file named "disable voodoo" (without the "'s") and then reboot... it will then convert back from EXT4.
HUGE THANK YOU TO EUGENE AND SUPERCURIO - my phone might as well be the Nexus S (but with an SD Card and Gorilla Glass)!!
Anyone else running this? Do you agree that others should try it?
Not what I'm running, but lets make this a "my ideal setup until CM" sorta thread, which is how I read the subject line at least.
So far, my favorite themed setup was Frobuntu, but I had some issues with system processes chewing up CPU. So now, Blackhole. 1.1 was great, just flashing 1.2 now. Customizable - I love that. Just pick what I want in ROM Manager and it loads up. No hunting down extra files to flash or ADB push, dealing with megaupload, hotfiles, etc. I think I'm staying here until we get a CM or true AOSP build.
This setup sounds like one I've seen before if I could only remember where I saw it ohh I'm running it and it is fast but I put swype back in it I like the speed of swype the jl4 modem wasn't giving me the best connection but jl1 is pretty good but my phone is running fast as fast can be

Been getting this (at least) for a while already with Axura + Voodoo. Maybe typical for many of the popular roms when combined with Voodoo. When the 2.2.1 based ROMs become stable on the Vibrant, combining that with Voodoo might make me want to change. Other than that, short of GB Stable becoming available I probably won't see the need to change.

From my understanding, a gingerbread kernel will only work with a gingerbread rom.
You want a flashable 2.3 kernel modded to work on 2.2 - is that what you are asking?
Yes and no, I'm just wondering if anyone is working on a gingerbread rom for vibrants, and from what i understand, gingerbread roms won't work unless it includes a gingerbread kernel.

Please put your questions to: Vibrant Q&A
your question: "is there a 2.3 kernel that works in 2.2?"
problem: this makes no sense. only 2.2 kernels work in 2.2. Only 2.3 kernels work in 2.3. What are you trying to ask?
Interpretation: "is anyone working on a 2.3 rom for your vibrants?"
Answer: yes. CM just upped a test version of 2.3 IN ALPHA (not the same as the ones that appeared in december), but right now it's almost exclusively i9k only (to convert the radio file takes a bit or work).
Good news for our vibrants, Krylon360 of TeamWhiskey is working on a 2.3 port himself. But the progress is going to be a while since he's the only one working on it.
hey everyone, i usually dont post, observer is more like it. but i am having touble and i hope someone could shed some light. the first issue is with the dow kernel from tw. it wont recognize my headset as a microphone headset, only plays music, and second, ffc isn't my default camera when i use messenger, fring, or qik. it works fine, except for the low light/low banding issue, havent found anything for that yet, but i digress. those programs go automatically to my back cam, not sure what i'm doing wrong. thanks in advance for the help and just wanted to say thanks to all the devs. you guys are awesome, we would be running crappy slow phone and slaves to our networks. you guys (and gals) rock.

Indeed. There were several posts in the development thread about it causing boot issues. It's only with the Vibrant though. They suggested flashing a new kernel/old kernel and that should fix it.

Curious as to the lack of GPS functionality, is it because of a lack of open source drivers?
And if it is, then why do other GalaxyS devices have working GPS when (i dont think) they dont have any more new open source files then us?

No, it will turn on. Tho why it matters I never understood. We will support low power mode someday I'm sure, but very low priority. Just turn the screen off, use quiet hours ...
Thank you for posting this. I have a quick question though. I lost my USB driver cable to my vibrant (I charge it via a plugin charger now.) Is there any possibility that I can install CM7 via the Marketplace (from Clockwork Mod or the another automatic install app) without going through all these steps?

The biggest difference I can find by looking through both threads (Cherryblur/Ninja) is that Cherryblur also supports the international build of gingerbread (being 4.5.2.0 OrangeFR), whereas Ninja only supports AT&T.
However, there are other minor differences. One difference is that ninjablur uses the new market, whereas cherryblur uses the old market.
But cherryblur seems to be more of a complete rom from the info given in the first post. These are features that it offers that ninjablur doesn't (according to the ninjablur thread):
2048k SDCard Buffer
Circular Battery and Custom Data Icons
Battery fix implemented
10 Point Multi-Touch
Proximity updates in build.prop
Avoid screen staying on in calls
WiFi scan in build.prop set to 90
Preinstall script neutered to avoid install of AT&T crapware
QuickOffice app REMOVED
Tethering enabled to use stock Hotspot app!
AGPS Enabled
Shows a menu item under location for VZW, supposedly enables AGPS from YOUR network (not just Verizon)
MMS "Reply to all" Enabled
Untested, does it work for you?
Max recipients of SMS/MMS increased to 20
Untested, does it work for you?
Disabled the locking of Default APNs so you can edit them
GTALK WITH VIDEO!!!
WEBTOP OVER HDMI!!!
Re-added ICE for contacts
WAKE ON VOLUME HACK!
Also, don't be afraid of the red theme, you can download a theme uninstaller that will give your phone the stock look (while keeping all of the rom features).
I would go with cherryblur.

Actually both use the old market.
Also know that none of the available themes will work on the cherryblur rom.
My advice: try them both for a few days and see which you like best.
If you use CherryBlur, you might have to flash the 4.5.91 radio to get 3G working if you're on AT&T.

Ok thanks for clearing that up
I had the 4-5 beta, then ran CherryBlur .5 and switched back to beta 4-5. When CherryBlur 1.1 came out I switched and stayed until version 1.3. The webtop had stopped working for some reason so I tried Ninja .4 and the speed freak .5 version. Ninja runs really good but I think that CherryBLurs 4.5.2 runs better. Seems snappier between screens and opening apps. Like the person above said, try them all out. Heck about a week ago I was on rooted on 1.5.7 and have learned to flash, unlock my bl and managed to soft brick my phone LOL. I definately am learning. Being I had carpal tunnel surgery and I'm home from work the next few weeks, I might try to learn more about ROMs and stuff.
Two new kids in town... Cherry(3.142) and Alien...
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I've been switching between the two and to me the latest Cherryblur seems the snappiest and most stable, I was getting a few FC's with Ninja SF.
However, I don't like the theme on Cherryblur and can't seem to flash mattedblues
Ninja Vs CherryBlur
I was on the same dilema for a few days reading long posts on the Ninja Trhead until I decided to give it a try(Ninja)
- Went directly to Build 2 and have not experienced major problems so far other than the Theme refuses to install.
I came from Ronaldo´s Rom which is very stable and also based on Ken´s work but a little slow and nothing special featurewise. Also I was experiencing a few connection problems and GPS a little slow to Fix.
Ninja is fast, as I said, theaming does not work for me (I think I know what I am doing but it just refuses to install from CWM nor Rom Manager) As I cannot get the theme to install and a few features are based on it, there is nothing more I can add on that regard.
I am concerned on the maturity of the rom and how slo it is movin forward in fixing bugs/adding features..
Sorry, cannot say much about C/b since I have not used it but from the paper I think is more mature and also based on the old market (Ninja is on the new whinch I dont get along well with.

Notice: Saurom RCV users, there is a fix so that you can flash other kernels. The problem was caused by an incompatible library being flashed over Saurom's RTL modded library. In the future, my kernels will ship without modified libraries, and a cwm zip containing only the libraries will be offered (for those who need them).
For your pleasure, here is a new kernel for the ATT Galaxy Note. This kernel is forked from Da_G's Overclock kernel, so you are still getting all the features of that excellent piece of code.
For those a bit confused as to what 'Ghost thouch' is, and why it is removed:
Samsung added a bit of code to the touchscreen driver on the non-intl version of the note to detect 'ghost' touch input events, similar to the raindrop detection on the original Motorola Atrix (and others). While a nice idea on paper, this had un-intended consequences when trying to perform multi-touch input that continues longer than around 5 seconds; such as playing some games. It is now disabled in this kernel.
Edit: There also seems to be a pleasant side effect that I hadn't noticed... keyboard input is improved. Makes sense I suppose, since now there isn't this constant check for false touches slowing things down. Let me know if you see this on your device.
Please READ:
1. I have only tested this kernel on the ATT Galaxy Note running stock rom
2. This kernel has no option to turn ghost touch detection on and off (I am considering this for version 0.2)
3. I will likely not fix the issues where more than 6 fingers are not reliably detected.... why do you need that many fingers on the screen??
4. As always, you are flashing something on to your expensive phone and it very well could kill you, burn [more] holes in the ozone layer, intoxicate innocent kittens, etc. (oh, and break your phone). You always flash at your own risk.
5. The only change at the moment over Da_G's 0.2 kernel is the touchscreen stated above. As such, all the other good or bad remains the same.
Have fun, Let me know what you think.
Heard from:
Saurom RC4 -- Works fine
Saurom RC5 -- holoNote kernel is bundled already, but if you want to flash a different kernel you must apply a cwm zip containing a RTL modded lib
TPC V2 -- Works fine
Rogers -- Works fine
Kallsyms version of my Kernel is now up (file ending with suffix 'k'). Please confirm that it is working for you guys that use that feature (I do not).
Per request: Version without su/busybox (and install script) is now up. Please NOTE: this kernel does not remove root, just no longer installs root.
An oversight of mine has resulted in android reporting kernel version unavailable. Apps such as cpuspy report correct kernel name/ version.

When you flashed this was it on top of a custom rom or stock? Just trying to decide if I want to flash on top of saurom.
Flashed on Saurom RC4 and it booted fine. It seems I don't have anymore keyboard problems with this kernel either. I can finally type fast again!

As stated above, I have only tested this on stock att rom. That said, as Da_G's kernel works with Saurom, I can not see how this would cause any problems.
As people confirm it works in 'X' situation, I will update the op.

Any chance of getting this with the kallsysms function that DA_G implemented in one version of his kernel 0.2? Thanks it would allow us more screen improvement with the touchscreentune app available (which works well to re-calibrate the pens offsets btw)?

Quick question. Which of the three versions of Da_G's kernel is this from. I'm using his one with the kalysms (so?)

I hope to have a version with kallsyms up later today.

OMG, yesterday i was trying to analyze why my keyboard is missing keypresses when i type quickly and i came to the conclusion that it must be some sort of an accidental touch algorithm that works in the background!
I'm going to check this out!
Thanks!
Op updated with kallsyms support kernel... enjoy.
gonna flash and report back its nice to see another dev here
What's Kallsyms?

Da_G has a build of the kernel with this:
Version 0.2 CWM Zip (with KALLSYMS + KALLSYMS_ALL for debugging)
The original request came from someone who wanted to use an app to help fix the spen issues which required this I believe.

Thank you! Amazing!
My phone will eat your Apple!
Not discounting your work here - and this is just my opinion.
It might've been better to work with DaG and get him to integrate this into his kernels. do you plan to re-release every time he makes changes to his kernels?
Can i use this on my rogers galaxy note? Will i loose lte on rogers or nfc? Thanks

Hrmm... should ignore it? Yeah... ill ignore it.

Turilo: only tested on att stock. But as nfc and lte are android and modem respectivly, I would guess you should be fine? Let me know how it goes.

OK tested it out. I don't think it helped.

I wasn't trying to start anything, it was a serious question though. Are you going to release a new one after DaG does changes to his kernel?
