Which ROM? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which Rom do you guys suggest? I've tried KaosFroyo, and no offense, but I wasn't blown away. I'm currentlly running TazzFroyo v14 vanilla and love it, but I'm curious about Nonsensikal v10.8.1 [Froyo|Black&Blue|Vanilla]. Which do you suggest?
Tazz v14 or Nonsensikal v10.8.1
THank you!

This may not be what you are looking for, but hands down the best I have tried are the XtrRom and XtrSense ROMs.
THE most stable operating and has the best battery life I have used since rooting months ago. I love these ROMs!
Good luck!

hahahahhaa.... hes right, but i answered anyway... silly me

The only thing that held me back from trying the XTR ROMs is that I don't have Amon's recovery image, which they both require. I know this is probably a dumb question, but if I wanted to use those roms how do I get the image?

Did you say you are recreating pacman? Let me know if you need help testing it. Pacman has always been a favorite for me.

Instead of doing that though; you should really look in to figuring out how to push Amon's on to your phone through the great guides on the forum. It may take a little time, but it REALLY helps when something goes wrong (and things really do go wrong from time to time) so that you're not like "oh ****, I'm screwed" and then fly off the handle.
The guys here are WONDERFUL at helping out -- and you can always jump in to IRC and ask specific questions. I got stuck just last week and I went in, and Conap himself helped me reinstall his ROM from the ground up (and I was stuck in stock 1.5 w/ no root lol). The other guys were also very nice and helpful, and it's a really good vibe.
I feel like a hippy saying all this sh*t, but seriously dude -- try it out. Never hurts to learn -- and from what I've experienced personally, practice gets you better every time.
PS: I like CELB -- I'm about to flash Tazz Vanilla 14 or 15 (whatever the current build is) though to try it out.

Froyo with Flash??

Hello XDA im a eris-aholic and im looking for a froyo rom with flash. So far ive only found 2. 1 roms that have flash but no 2.2's or am i missing something? Pls help!!
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
The only one that I know of is the KaosLegendary v.19 ROM. It's a Wildfire Port, but is very visual rough and still in the alpha phase but flash does really work (probably thing that works really well as of right now). Hope this helps :3
Edit:
The reason for this is that to have Flash 10.1 of the Eris you either need to port it on the back of another 2.2 sense ROM or build it on top of out default 2.1 sense ROM with flash lite. Most (maybe all) other 2.2 ROMs for Dorid Eris are ASOP (cyanogen) which doesn't work well when mixed with the Eris and Flash.

Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
Ok so I'm. Going to assume that install through pc to kaos 37 also wouldn't work well then. Is like to have the best of both worlds but legendary is still alpha and kinda funky atm IMHO. any other input would be great
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I've had flash running on every 2. 1 sense Rom that I've flashed, but so far no luck with the 2.2 because they are all cyanogen. As of last night or the night before, the htc gratia was ported to the Eris. It's the first "working" 2.2 SENSE Rom for us. Only problem is that its still very very rough.. setup is in Chinese, no WiFi, camera issues, and to turn it off you have to do a battery pull. So, maybe in a few weeks some of our great devs will have that Rom running smoother and reliably, and maybe then, flash will work on it. Even then, there may still be issues =/ we'll see tho! Hope this helps!

IMO Tenzo is on the forefront of making a useable functional 2.2 Sense ROM for our Erii.
+1 for Tenzos 2.2 Sense rom.
So far I've demo'd them both and tenzo is definitely closer to completion even though it still has bugs.... ill probably go with tenzo unless kaos pulls this through quick

Hmm, I've always flashed roms by Team Whiskey.
I think out of all of them, Nero v5 and Bionix-V 1.2 would tie as my favorites as of now.
Both are extremely snappy and smooth. The battery life is incredible. As of now, I'm currently running Bionix-V 1.2 and as of this last charge, my phone has been off the charger for 51 hrs (17% left) with light/moderate usage.
TBH, I could've stayed on Nero v5, but I just moved on because I wanted to experience the new hotness from TW.
(Actually, that's a pro and a con when it comes to TW: everytime you flash one of their roms, it takes only 4-5 days before a new one comes out and then you've got to debate whether or not to flash the new one, lol.)
my Rom of choice : Di11igaf

As expected, anything by Einherjar Dev Team will be my choice.
That said, this is going to be different for everyone. It depends what you want in a Rom.
Masters roms are always very visually appealing.
TW is who I studied. They make a solid rom, everytime. They also have access to every kerneler there is, except for freelance supercurio.
EDT is very young but growing fast. These roms are set out to be created as something that does yet exist.
Eugene is the hero of anyone who has ever had to recover from a soft brick. Solid roms.
The lone rom-ers are starting to bring out some very solid products.
Lol, I guess thats all I have to say right now.

I'm a big fan of the team einherjar Roms. they seem to be the most stable to me and have the least amount of issues. i recently flashed bionix V 1.2.1 but i has issues trying to download apps from the market even after reflashing like three times. needless to say i flashed back to trigger 2.0. thats just my 2 cents.
Nero v3 because it had the best battery life. But i dont want to revert back because bionix has some things that nero did not and i will take them over the battery. But yea i love battery and have heard that axura has excellent battery life.
Cyanogen mod 7
Pretty stable, fast and statusbar widgets.

As far as I know, we haven't had a true, clean, non-CM, AOSP ROM since 2.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773127&highlight=Vanilla). I tried with Froyo with only partial success. It seems that the mods that the CM team has done allow us to work around the fact that HTC hasn't given us new drivers & libs since 2.1 and we are still on a 2.6.29 kernel. So, that's why you see new CM ROMs, but not AOSP.
That's how I understand it anyway. As always, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
And feel free to prove me wrong by building a GB AOSP ROM! I'd love to see one. It's nice to have options.

Safest is always full wipe, but if noone in the Tazz 17 thread has said what worked for them, you could do a nandroid, just wipe Dalvik (not .android-secure) and flash over. Then if it gives trouble, nandroid restore your backup, backup your apps your favorite way (if you want to), then do a full wipe and flash, then restore your apps.

Hey there, welcome to the forums.
Well, first of all.. tell me a little bit.
What are you looking for?
Speed? Good Battery Life? Froyo, Gingerbread? Do you care? GPS? etc.
personally bionix 1.3.1 was my favorite for froyo, but if you want Ginger cm7 nighty is the way to go. miui is popular, but for the most part, it turns the vibrant into something completely. . . different.
flash away man. see what works for you. the vibrant is virtually unbrickable.

I use Toxic8 with Bali X 1.2kernel (gingerbread theme) and it is snappy, stable and battery lasts really well. Quadrant (although I despise it) gives about 2000 average.
I even used the GPS to get me to somewhere that MapQuest failed big time. Place was so far out that the roads didn't have names anymore, just numbers. But GPS took me right to the front door.

I've gone from Cyanogenmod7 to Trigger to Toxic Crazy 8. Cyanogen was horrible, as I was still a noob and it was terribly buggy then.
I suggest toxic Crazy 8. Flashed it a couple weeks ago, and it's beautiful. I decided to stay with Froyo because it's been around longer (more time to perfect it) and it's much more battery efficient. I get 44 hours of light use out of my phone, on one charge (Screenshots soon, I'm busy now...) It's also super smooth, just follow their install instructions. I've never had it lag and I can't stress how amazingly smooth it is.... xD Have fun flashing! Just keep some backups handy...
Edit: I failed to mention I'm running on Bali, OC'd to 1.2 Ghz (It came with Toxic, and I have no reason to change)
Here's Toxic Crazy8

[Q] Barebone (i mean barebone!) ROM based on 2.2?

Ok, sorry to bring this Q here. I know i know - go look, search, find out. I hear you.
Been researching for a full day. But somethings require YOUR experience.
I am looking for a stable (!), good-battery (!) and bare-bone (minimal) ROM for my Vibrant.
(maybe my hate from running background stuff comes from ignorance, since I am no wiz when it comes to android)
I use GMAIL, Whatsapp, and Google Voice, and I can't stand running processes
Is there a ROM that you know to be made with this in mind?
Thanks !!!
