Can i put froyo on the x10?
model x10i
firmware 1.6
baseband 1.131
kernal v 2.6.29-rel
Build R2BA026
i done the root tutorial and it seemed to work and then done an update on seus.(did this cancell the root?)
i have put froyo on my hd2 no problem but cant work this out? is there roms to flash if so where and how?
apologies if this has been covered ive been trying this for hours.

the bootloader has to be cracked...
so... NO
please read all threads about 2.2 (FroYo)

so is the x10 stuck on 1.6 for the foreseable future?

Why hasn't natural selection taken care of this already?

Not going to be rude but what do you mean you've been "stuck on this for hours"?
A little, I mean a little little research would tell you that Sony is just about to release the 2.1 update.

http://www.google.ca/#sclient=psy&h...1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=4cd15c2f57653556

before the bootloader has been cracked, no. but after that, yes its possible.

If you flashed your phone with the root guide then reflashed with SEUS, yes, which should be obvious.

You could have found out in two minutes had you read some of the threads in the development section.

seriously a troll post... ppl never stop right?
if not hmm... didnt u actually see the 2.1 posts right when u opened this section?
\_O-O_/

heres the right answer of your question (can the x10 run froyo):
YES but not now, u have to WAIT til the BOOTLIADER IS CRACKED!
Sent from my rooted 030 x10i using XDA App

Yes, you can
all you need to do is plug the phone into the computer facing NORTH,
then covering the light sensor, rotate 45 degrees to the WEST,
finally, hold down menu and and shout "I must read before asking silly questions"

Maybe he just wonder if the hardware specific for X10 can run Froyo?

Haven't you been reading this thread or any of the others? If you upgraded via SE, non rootable, all you have to do is downgrade back to your previous version and then use the xRecovery + pre rooted 2.0.2.A.0.24 by Z method posted all over the Xperia X10 general and q&a forums. With these you also can enable JIT. Other guys didn't spell it out, they just provided links. I'll spell it out but I don't have links for you. Between both you have everything you need right here in this thread.

HI XperiaX10iUser,
Thank you for saving my life
I tired the first method but kept getting NullPoint error, then i tried the nonGUI flasher and it worked like a charm. now i am reinstating the system image created by Xrecovery.
AgentJBM : i understand your frustration, however there was no direct link and the methods mentioned were not as clear for a Noob like me.
thanks all for your help.

I wasn't frustrated. I'm just trying to help other noobs realize that you're not going to find one thread with A-Z. They give you A, H, P, and Z. You have to use search and links to do the ones in between. I'm a noob myself, just a step of two ahead of you, who understands both sides. They aren't being short or impatient. They just expect you to be able to navigate xda if you're going to be messing with your phone.

[Q] root issues

Hello guys, well today I updated my phone from android 1.6 to 2.1 via the SEUS. I tried to root my device but failed in vain. I tried out the z4 root 1.30 but that didn't work either. I am a bit agreeably using the flash method. Is there any workable alternative to get my cell rooted?i would prefer a single click approach.
Thanks
In a nut shell, no. You need to flash back to 504 firmware and start from there, as said on AF.
Flash and debrand with THIS, install THIS, then THIS, and you'll have an up to date, debranded and rooted X10.

To be frank I really have no idea about flash. I have heard that it is very risky. If something goes wrong then the device ends up getting bricked.

my x10 flasher is getting downloaded. Before i start the process, i wanted to ask you whether by flashing will my xperia get rooted? because for custom xperia recovery to work they mention that they NEED a ROOTED device. also they need an app called the busy box.
what should i do?
Is there any video tut regarding the procedure? I downloaded all the things necessary for the procedure.

[Q] X10 multitouch without rooting?

Hi, i don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but i have this user who claimed to (might be the first in the world as i speak) have enabled X10 multitouch without rooting his device.
As i try to reason with him that he is wrong and might be getting the wrong information, he speaks even bolder and louder (even to a point of doubting the wonderful guys here at XDA of their hardwork?)
He was trying to sell his used X10 on a local forum.
The link is here:

Below are quoted from him
Most important things that i never HACK or ROOT my X10i for this multitouch input ( Believe me i have my own legal way that not break the law )

Sure it dont make sense for you because you think only XDA Developers can do it only not even Sony Ericsson Company can do it with out rooting and flashing the phone but do you use your big brains to think Sony Ericsson Updates over their own Firmwares and Please Open Your Big 2 Balls of eyes Japan Have its own multitouch update by Sony Ericsson so is that proving it root or flashing the phone ?
So think before you say anything in Lowyat Forum Sony Ericsson have its own people to make those updates , XDA Developers is based in roothing and flashing phone and i have my own way to do it. Anything possible to happen in this earth only you are the one who dont understand and keep saying XDA Developers can do it with rooting and flashing the phone.
My last word is if you so believe on XDA Developers why don`t you do their follower dont believe in other people only believe in XDA Developers. Example there was a people coming to tell you there is a fire on top of your hse and you dont believe and sitting there stupidly waiting for those so called XDA Developers come to save your life.

Hi,
Didn`t had the patience to read all your post but this is THE FACT
You CAN flash Dualtouch without root.
Q: Can i gent DT work?
A: Yes
Q: Does it work on every apps?
A: No. For that you must be rooted.
Using THIS tool and follow THIS guide.
Now some info.
When you use the flashtool you`re using the same file format that SE uses (dispite it has been renamed to *.ftf files to work with this tool) so, after flash you won`t get rooted.
When you flash the dualtouch.ftf file you are in fact flashing your kernel without affcting anything else ´cause this kernel file was "taken" from an original SE release in Japan.
So you can say to your "friend" that he`s right and you are wrong and if you had any dough try it.
You only have root acces IF and ONLY IF your press "Root" button on that tool.

i would like to thank miliions times who have contributed to fix this annoying problem.
Solution:
1-you should have 2.3.4 android version.
2-you need to mount below kernel in flash mode
http://www.mediafire.com/?7g6gz2mpp1ljb46
and thats all very easy but:
The critical line is that im not aware of it and i think most people in this site as well
..
the most important thing YOU SHOULD INSTALL A COMPATIBLE KERNEL WITH YOU STOCK OR CUSTOM ROM IF NOT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO OPEN YOUR PHONE
IT WILL ALWAYS STAY THE SUCH AS XPERIA OR SONY ERICSSON SCREEN
TO AWOID SUCH CASES BE CAREFULL AND BE AWERE OF THAT YOU INSTALL THE COMPATIBLE KERNEL WITH YOUR ROM
thank you!
Tbh if you don't know anything of kernel/rom compatibility you really shouldn't be flashing anything.
This is not a personal dig, just kills me the number of posts like this, where folk say they didn't know.
101 for anything firmware related, understanding the process and having a backup plan as things can and do go wrong
Most devs post recommended kernel either in Rom or in the post.

ok...am not new to androids, infact i do a bit o' developing. now, a friend of mine sold me his x10 (white, unlocked, international version).
i have had LG's and Samsung's before, but never have had the pain as such. rooting and installing CWM and then installing a ROM was effortlessly simple.
am thinking of
1. unlocking the bootloader
2. installing an OC kernel
3. then testing out the awesome ROMs u all have....AND
4. port the superawesome PRADA ROM to the x10.
so, if any of you might kindly consider showing me the way round here, i shall be grateful.

HERE
voila
I guess what you mean is how to start right?
maybe:
1. download the rom you'd like to go for and copy it to SD card
2. download the kernel flash using Flashtool
3. install the rom using Recovery
whether OC or not depends on the kernel, so watch out and pick up the right one.
