The Dell Streak manual for Android 1.6 shows how to set different wallpapers for different home pages (using a long press on the Home button).
However, I don't seem to be able to do this with Android 2.1. Is this something else which changed with the "upgrade" to 2.1, or am I overlooking something?

That ui is long gone since 2.1 update however there is an apk file that you can use to run something similar. Works pretty well but only on landscape mode. Im using it now.
You ca find it in the pocketables.com (sp???) Or go to Streaksmart.com and hut forums, you'll find it there.
I use it, its called wall streak, works perfectly

If you guys can find good 800x480 pics that look good in Portrait mode please share. Right now I'm planets cause they're upright no matter how I look at em. lol
this is my current set up using this app:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Whenever I switch my Streak off, when I switch it on again it resets to a standard wallpaper. I have to go back into Settings and then Live Wallpapers to reselect WallStreak.
Does anybody else have this problem, or am I doing something wrong?
No it doesnt do it here....
no problems here... I had that problem when I first flashed Froyo 1.2 (when it was buggy)

does this work on legend? it doesnt on mine but may be because needs to be rooted to work, the demo works and ive got it switched on for text input but doesnt actually use swype in texts or anything.
anyone else tried this?
It's working, even without root.

Maybe you have to google for a newer version.
It's working here also nicely. Using the open beta. Just wishing for more language packs, like German and Indonesian.
I s/l it and have it selected as the keyboard, but it won't come up as the keyboard.... am I doing something wrong?

The beta works flawlessly for me so far.. Make sure to enable it in your input options. Takes a bit to get used to and I definitely recommend finishing the tutorial (and I'm not a tutorial kinda person) and even reading the tips. It's wicked once you get used to it.
The keyboard will appear as below when properly enabled.

My Streak used to take very good photos which came out natively at 2592x1944 pixels, around 300kb in size. But suddenly that has changed and now photos are only 640 x 480 pxls and about 80kb. I've made no changes nor can I find any means of returning to the higher quality. Can anyone shed any light, please?
When using the camera there are settings for this. I am on my IPAD so i cannot provide instructions. Maybe later when I am on the phone.
Hi,
There is a strip of very small settings buttons down the left hand side of the viewfinder area, touch the top one and a scrollable box comes up, somewhere in there are the resolotion settings. Make sure you check the superfine option, then pick 5MP option.
The buttons are really fiddly, it takes me a couple of tries to get the settings menu up.
Hope this fixes your problem.
The pics I take with my streak are usually around 800MB

Not on mine I'm afraid! There are five buttons on the right side (brightness/contrast, store location, white balance, flash mode and zoom), but none whatsoever on the left side???
I remeber that being the case before the Froyo update. Are you on 2.2?

Yes, I am. And I had high quality photos both before and after updating to 2.2. It's only recently that this has happened and I can't think what I must have done to have caused it, nor can I find any resolve. The last thing I want to do is a cold reset, so if anyone can suggest how I might be able to reinstall just the camera app, perhaps?

HI AidanBell,
the option to set the quality of the camera is just below the brightness and contrast option.
Once you click on it just scroll it and you will find it.
Thank you so much. At first I still couldn't find it, but eventually I realised that the brightness/contrast menu is scrollable - which is not in any way obvious nor have I ever known before! So of course scrolling down I've now finally found all the quality controls. So simple and yet so beautifully hidden! Thanks again to everyone who helped with this. Job done.
As title says...how do I add the additional quick links to the pull menu bar (screen brightness, ringer volume, rotate)???
I've been looking and am hoping someone can help....I don't want to flash a different ROM to get them, just mod the one I'm on now. A flashable zip would be even better
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for posting this. Do you have to do anything else besides flash this? I'm pretty n00b at looking inside apks
i flashed this and I didn't get any extra settings. Any ideas? Thanks, I'm on stock rooted btw
Yeah, HTC should really offer some customization of their quick settings.
I'd personally like to see an option to put the phone in standby, like is available on some MIUI ROMs. The less I need to use the hard power button, the longer it'll last.

I think this is what I have but it's made for gingerbread 2.3.3 which works for the most part on 2.3.4 but instead of saying "of or on" it just says "1% 2%". Are you using 2.3.4?
is there an update of this zip for 2.3.4?
Thanks!

for Ultimate v.7.5 |MooDeD ICS ROM v.5.5 | 5.5 Stable And Smooth
would be awesome..
Is it possible to make the camera and lock icon not appear by default?
I think whats happening is that the power and home button simulate a touch on the screen, hence the camera and lock icons appear after and the ripple from the center icon. Thats just ,y theory but it would be nice to have only the center button appear on screen on.
i dont know why this happened...
i tried fix it using cm9, but it was difficult..
will this work on stock pre-rooted 2.3.4 ?

Thanks for the effort.
I, too, have spent hours on learning about framework just to solve this. I decompiled both yours and CM9's framework to do a Windiff. Most files were same with minor differences that shouldnt affect the lockscreen behavior. There were also newer but visually equal png files in CM9 but that too should not cause any problems.
What I have concluded, therefore, is that the problem is not in framework-res.apk but in framework.jar. I know nothing about java and may be too stressful to learn yet another protocol for this lockscreen problem. However, if you know java, maybe you can look into it.
My observation is that on boot, the lock screen shows up without the unlock and camera icons. Only when power button or home buttons waking the screen does the icons appear, and usually between 0-100 ms after the screen is on, which means there is something to do with how the phone wakes and how either button can trigger the same response as a touch on the screen.
Thanks a lot. its awesome.
Just one question.
is there any way to switch the camera function to Mute/Silent function?
Just like the original Xperia does?

Hi, Sipmle Q...
Does MIUI for Dell Streak has landscape mode?
As i remeber it does not while i was using it on HTC.Desire
btw, MIUI rocks (in portrait o/c)
It'll be great to have it in landscape
Greets!
I too would love landscape on MIUI as its not so awesome stuck in portrait mode - still excellent though
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
It does not have a default landscape mode but in a couple of the other threads I posted a modified android.policy.jar file that would default everything to landscape mode except for the lock screen and some of the settings menus.

Is this for MIUI?? It seems to refer to the CM7 ROM rather than MIUI and it's quite a bit smaller than the default one?
Ahh, silly me, I've found this one! I'll give it a go and post how I get on.

If it works for you, i'll go back to Miui.
That was the only thing that put me off Miui is that it doesn't do landscape, and i use it in my car alot with the music player.
Did not work for me really. The launcher is still stuck in portrait. I've ended up going back to O2 Froyo rom after having tried all the gingerbread roms out there. None were reliable enough for me, though all are very well done. Back to SPB mobile shell for me!
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
It's not intrinsically landscape, but most of the stock apps can (and should!) be replaced with more useful alternatives. Once you get it running in landscape, and replace the launcher and phone app, you never really notice that it's not meant to be landscape.
