Hello everyone, i have a question i want to ask..
i did search here on this forum, google and other forums for any guide or help on how to change icons inside .apk files, i have found many tuts/guides on the net, but they are for other phones such as Htc or Motorola droid, but Android is Android, i gave it a try, . it does only work on my HTC Tattoo, and not on my x10 mini pro.
is it because the icon size must be 48x48 ? since it does have smaller screen than the htc tattoo?? or does it simply have another way to do this because of any limitations from sony's side `?
You can change all the .png images inside system apk's, there's no magic here.
Images should be obviously scaled down. If you are just willing to replace original images with some of your taste, make sure the donor is also QVGA i.e. HTC Tattoo for example.
You don't need to resign files, just replace gfx files and move them back replacing the original ones. If you are moving files from windows-formatted SD card, repair permissions after putting files in place, i.e. chmod 755 /system/app/* should fix them for you.

Hey guys!
I was wonderwing wether someone could tell me where i can find the proprietary files for android phones (htc desire gsm specifically). The wiki says "find updated prop blobs" but has no reference as to where to even look.
I want to build a KANG for a device i have no physical access to, so i cannot extract the proprietary files.
Thanks!

Who is this tutorial for?
Tools Required : (Update them manually and report me dead links please)
Step one: Installing the JAVA JDK, Cygwin and Setting up the Kitchen.
*Before you do anything install the java jdk*
INSTRUCTIONS
Download and extract the cygwin_packages.zip
Run the set up(make sure there is no previous cygwin installation)
when it shows all the package names, go to the top and select "all default" until it changes to "all install" (you must click on the arrows)
Download the kitchen from above. Then, extract the kitchen's .zip file to a folder under your home account. Rename the dsixda-android-kitchen-*** folder to just "kitchen". In Cygwin, this folder would depend on what was set for your Cygwin install directory, e.g. C:\cygwin\home\John\kitchen
NOTE!! If your user folder contains spaces (e.g. C:\cygwin\home\John Smith\kitchen), then the kitchen will not function properly. Instead, copy it under C:\cygwin\home\kitchen.
Now your ready to run the kitchen type:
