I don't think so. There is a small speaker on the back which seems to act as the loud speaker.
EDIT: Just checked, the one on the back is the loud speaker.
thanks mate
I have been trying to use the radio on loud speaker, can't find a way to do it.. any suggestions? Thanks

Hi
If you press and hold on the thin white line while your in the radio application (the line that the frequency numbers sit on in the middle of the screen) then it brings up a menu. One of the options on that is for using the speaker.
Cheers.
Out of curiosity, how is the loud speaker? Can you blast the volume without it getting crackly at all? Is it tinny sounding?

Quite loud and not too tinny. Copes with Lacrymosa by Evanescence reasonably well compared to most phone speakers anyway.

I often listen songs with the minimalist sound at night...I'm experiencing buzzing sound from the speaker when I listen at the lowest sound on PowerAMP. I'm also experiencing it on the stock music player also...Do you guys also having it or just me?

What do yo mean? :O
Do you hear buzzing when you turn the volume up?
What's the sound quality like with the volume up?
Where is your phone sitting when you are playing music?
Does it sound the same through headphones?

No..it works fine when I turn the volume up...Sound quality is crystal clear when the volume is high...Didn't try with the headphones yet! The buzz sound is so low..I can only hear when I place the speaker just beside my ears.

Probably normal interference sound you are hearing. If you only hear it on low with the phone right at your ear, that seems most likely.
Or..........metal plate in head?
Perhaps at higher volumes the buzzing sound is cancelled out by the music? Get a can of compressed air and give it a blast, there may be a small piece of something rattling around in there (very small).
When you listen at night, is your phone plugged into the charger? If so, you may be hearing switcher noise from the battery charger. Try a different one. Just guessing.
I noticed when pressing a button on this phone and put the speaker to your ear you can hear some noise through the speaker. Like a low hissing sound. Then after a second it stops until you press another button.
Also when playing a YouTube video or game and turn the volume all the way down you hear the same noise. Infact if you run a game and go back to your home screen the noise is there until you quit the app.
The noise can only be heard if you put your ear to the speaker so it's not a major issue I just found it strange and wondered if everyone's is the same?
I just checked and the noise does stop when going back to the home screen from a game. Yesterday when I tested it the noise was still going. Must have been a particular app.
Can somebody check this on the z2 to see if this is normal? Thanks
You have to put your ear to the speaker to hear it, its just a slight hissing sound.
It happens when pressing the home/back/multi tasking buttons or when typing on the keyboard. Basically whenever the phone makes a button press sound and the speakers become active to play the sound
its totaly normal for the hissing sound to exist however some speakers can output the sound alot more easier than others and some you cant hear it at all
its normal for it to be heard from Z2 Unless its very louder than it should be, it should be only noticed using headphone or putting your ear very close to the speaker

Thanks for verifying that Envious, i can only hear it when putting my ear to the speaker. While i am here i might as well get your thoughts on another issue lol There is a thread that's just been posted on here about the bottom speaker being louder then the top speaker. Is this a hardware issue or just the way the phone is designed. Its something i noticed the first day i got the phone.

i actualy dont know
its definatly hardware, i did ask sony Service centre about the issue and since my Z2 is going to be sent for repair ill see if they actualy fix the Bottom speaking being louder than the top one which i did say was a problem and that they will test
it doesnt seem to be an intentional feature since the phone has dual stereo speakers, its anoying listening to music when mostly the audio is one side
Yeah its something i notice when playing games or watching videos. I will try to get a replacement from the retailer and if that fails then i will send it into sony. The vibration sound is definitely too loud on my z2 and i'll get them to check the speaker. :good:
Hi, guys i noticed a clicking popping noise in my left headphone only during music playback and in the middle volume level if it's low i can't hear it would you say it's hardware or software related? Seems like if there is more base in the music i don't hear it as much.

Sounds like a blown speaker in the headphones. Do you have a pair of ear buds you can swop out ? If you don't here it with the ear buds it's hardware.
Hello guys just today I have noticed that when some one call me that the sound from the top speaker is so low.
When I go to the ringtone and adjust the sound or choose a ringtone it plays well and loud but when is actually some one ringing just to low. Is any one having this issue?
Dont think is a hardware or else would do that all the time.

On voice calls only the bottom speaker works not the top one
Well funny enough my brother called me and the top speaker was working the stopped and worked again so I do think there is a software issue with it!

Huh? No. unless you turn on speaker phone, the TOP speaker is used for calls. The one you hold next to your ear.

No I'm talking about putting on the speaker phone
The top speaker is active during phone calls on loudspeaker (to add extra performance and volume to the speakerphone setting) as long as the front proximity sensor isn't triggered, as soon as the front proximity sensor detects a hand, face or "ear" it will disable the top speaker to protect the user from hearing damage as the amplified top speaker is significantly louder than the un-amplified earpieces in the previous models. What I personally find frustrating though is that the top speaker isn't used when the phone rings (even when the phone is laying on a table with the proximity sensor unobstructed), therefore the ringer volume is effectively almost half as loud as music/youtube playback.
UPDATE: I think it's the same with notification sounds as well...
Onyx's speaker is way too silent even at max volume. At times I'd have it in my pocket while taking to someone and wouldn't notice a call.
I tried all the sound mods available but none amplified the speaker. What should I do?
You means ringtones, not speaker itself?
speaker problem
