Is it just me or is overheating common now? Ever since the x10i update it seems like that after five minutes my phone gets rellly hotttt, what's up with this, and am I the only one?

Check your apps and make sure nothing is updating constantly.
I had set tweetdeck to update all the time and had the wifi stay on while the screen was off and my phone would get way too hot and the battery would discharge.
It doesn't help that my bedroom is like 32c either.

Are you also having lagging issues?
It seems my X10a runs lags a lot while heating which makes sens. If I leave it alone for 5 minutes and pick it up, it's really quick.

Your battery could be on its last life.
Did you try to take out Battery for 30sec-1min or did you tried to reflash the Firmware?
Try doing a forced full cycle... kill the battery 100%.. Like I mean make it so NOTHING happens when you press your power button, NOTHING, like, no light, no vibrate, nothing.. and keep doing this for 10-20 minutes JUST to be sure ;-)
THEN do a FULL charge...
This has helped me with countless cell phones and ipods. always breaths at least a bit of life
Ok, so have voodoo odex uvjl4 froyo rom installed and my battery seems to be draining at crazy speeds. I charged the battery to a 100% then with in 3 hours it dropped to 18% and that's with only like 30 mins of use. Tried Reconditioning the battery and clearing the battery cache but its still draining hella fast. Wtf is going on. This can't be normal. No wifi or GPS on.and only a few Widgets used. Also screen brightness is on the lowest setting. Any ideas? Thanks a million!

Try stopping some services in the settings/applications/running services. Or if you titanium backup pro, freeze some of the apps that are running in the background.

Checked that! Nothing extra is really running. Maybe its my voodoo or rom. At this rate I'm going to have to charge it 4 or 5 times a day! Seems to be dropping about 2% every few mins. Crazy :'(

Odin stock
Reflash
If problem is there, your choosing the wrong rom.
Try odining back to stock. That's battery usage I've never seen before.

Is the phone getting very hot? Are you experiencing glitches, crashiness or freezes?
Battery drain that severe sounds like a hardware issue.
how long have you been using that rom?

Phone gets pretty hot but only if I use it while its charging. And seems to take like 2 or more hours for the phone to completely charge.

The phone would be getting very hot with that kind of battery drain.
Maybe your battery is fried?
I'd try buying a cheap external (stand-alone) charger and putting a full charge into with that, then immediately wipe your stats upon reboot and see if it goes away.
I suspect phones can't correctly charge your battery full if the stats are seriously hosed to begin with, and even when you wipe the file it seems to assume the battery is 100% full to begin with (which means if it's super low, recharge still won't work) so I wonder if you might never actually be getting a full charge. But that's just wild-ass speculation on my part.
I'm experiencing this exact same thing. To the OP..are you still have the same issue or were you able to resolve it?
While using certain apps my phone gets heated and at times it also hangs I have to remove my battery and restart the phone
The problem I have faced is with one of the following apps

I am pretty new to android so have no clue abt it

Yes, it's normal. It's because it's so thin there's not much space for the heat to go.
You don't have to take out the battery, just close the applications and let it cool down
Edit: too late!!!
Heating is normal, hanging not normal at all. Angry Birds and browser shouldn't cause that. Can't say i used the other apps you mentioned, but my birds don't hang, they fly perfectly
Well it has been a long time and it has not hanged since then
hope it was a one time issue
i think its normal because its a dual core ?

Thats a rogue app causing the high android sys.
+1, I've seen this on 2 handsets.
Using GSam Battery Monitor, then clicking on app usage ->android system -> manage -> clear defaults
The above seems to stop the issue after a reboot. I've not seen it happen again since I did that.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 9hrs and 47% left doesn't seem like a problem... if you take your phone and leave it on (with screen off) and wait until it dies then charge and turn on you will see that the "system" eats almost all your battery. There is nothing wrong with your phone unless you used it a ton and the system still eats all your battery which If that is the case and it's been 9 hours and had 47% battery then I would think you were doing MUCH better than most, imho.

I've got the same problem. Only yesterday, mine was over 65%! My phones horrible on battery life. Some things definitely up

When I click manage it won't allow me to clear defaults...
And this began at around the 50% mark and as soon as it starts my battery starts dying way quicker
Do these screen shots help?

any ideas? seems like xda needs to be manualy killed or it ends up using alot of resources in the bacground
I have seen the same on my phone, but it has not happened consistently enough for me to narrow down the possible cause...
Happened to me once so far. Charged my phone to full and went to work. I didn't use my phone for anything other than to check the time. I started noticing that the back of the phone was getting very hot, more so than when charging. I pulled my phone out and the battery was waaay down :
Hasn't happened since (fingers crossed).
Edit: I guess mine wasn't the Android system, but cell standby.

The fix for the cell standby drain is easy, see here: http://techsplurge.com/10665/solution-samsung-galaxy-s3-cell-standby-battery-drain-problem/ As for the android system drain it seems to have resolved itself. I still get alot of kernel wakelocks from bam_dmux_wakelock though

I've had this issue in the past as well as random reboots, I believe it had to do with a root zip I flashed for the 4.5.91 update, but I can't be certain. I SBF'd the original 4.5.91 firmware, flashed the CWM recovery, and flashed the latest CM7 along with the Deepblue fix stated HERE. I understand that a lot of people have seen this and says it shouldn't do anything, so I'll let you decide if it works or not.
After doing the above steps, I've solved the issue with the random reboots, but still get the system locks forcing a battery pull, though only very rarely (maybe 1 a month/3 weeks).

Try a new kernel for your room, i've experienced this a lot of times and it was so annoying because i couldn't use my phone as a music player. I tried several kernels until i found one that doesn't go to deep sleep of death.
I would recommend faux123 work, are very stable.
Remember to flash the correct one for your rom, otherwise you'll get stuck in the motorola logo until you flash another compatible kernel.
Good luck
thanks for that advicee... the kernel is not changing anything. random reboots are not really a problem. deep sleep of death comes with every kernel even faux.
what i didn't tried yet...is reverting to stock. ...
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
It is the sleep of death. Try increasing your minimum cpu speed to one setting above the lowest (456? - I can't remember the exact number).
already done. i think the deep sleep is slower than the min setting....
