hello to all.....
i know that some time ago the firmware upgrade on a Windows Mobile phone was available only on Windows XP and ActiveSync.
Now that Windows Vista are almost a year alive........activesync died and Windows Mobile Devive Center took its place.
i correctly synchronize my Atom Exec via USB and the firmware upgrade procedure starts.......
after a while the bar isnt loaded at all and an emergency window tells me that
''no download target found''
any ideas what the problem is?
I just screwed my ipaq rw6828 for trying upgrading to wm6 with vista 32bit, upgrade run 40% and stop for a long long time, i disconnect it, unload the battery and whalla! my ipaq is brick, now i am trying to revive it
You should use a program that create a virtual machine, install winXP on that virtual machine, and upgrade from it, as we don't have an upgrade program that can run on win vista.
I have Vista x64 and I use VM Ware work station with Windows XP for Atom's updates

Do NOT USE the script is for old V3
It's not that simple, its the jar file that needs changing. The device id works different under Linux.
Install virtualbox and run a Windows vm. That's what I did.
Sent from my rooted X10i using XDA App
well I'd like linux support for it too
A Linux method would make it a lot easier than using a VM. However for the time being, I don't see another option...

Thank you,
i m forget the idea, i do flash steps under VM and SDK steps under linux.
I am having problems flashing my X10 using XP and Virtualbox. I get to the stage where I need to unplug my phone and shut it down for 5 secs but then when I plug in the usb and press the back button it will not flash? I assume its because in Virtualbox under Devices the X10 is not unticked as a USB device??
Anyone any ideas?
I have many ideas. But the only way to flash with linux is to ask massively jar dev to compile it for linux.
At the moment, I 've also done a script for linux, it's a quite fun but we can't flash without the jar because actual jar file use MS usb drviers we can't use under linux.
Virtual box is not a so good idea. Surely it works, but there not enough time between the moment when you plug the phone into usb and the time you need to put it into boot process.
The only way is to flash under MS.
I have personally mount virtual raw disk of MS installation, taht way you can use as real machine or as virtual.
After that u can try my script, it's not perfect but it is pretty useful.

The graphical flash tool includes Java. I run W7 x64 too without issue.
You should be using FTF files, not the old SIN files.
delete thread please

You didn't copy the usb files IN the usb folder to the root folder. Also make sure you press power + - volume, not power + + volume
Not sure how similar the process is for 64bit XP vs 64bit window7, but this worked for me (though, I didn't have any issues with the driver)...
Also, make sure the files aren't on your desktop - for whatever reason, the process failed when run from my desktop, but not when run from c:/nvflash.

Hi,
Im trying to use the flashtool on a windows XP VM using VirtualBox on my Mac.
At the moment the flashtool doesn't notice when my mini pro is in 'flash mode'
Ive tried adding the sdcard folder to the shared folders on my VM but this doesn't appear when the phone is off or in flash mode.
I'd appreciate any help,
Thanks.
FlashTool needs direct USB access to your phone, mounting and sharing /sdcard/ on your Mac will not help.
I haven't used Virtualbox in a while but in VMware Fusion (and I think in Parallels too) every time I plug in a USB device I need to select whether I want to connect it to the host (my Mac) or to the virtual machine. If I select VM, the USB device is invisible to the Mac host and is connected to the VM instead. This way FlashTool works fine.
I imagine that for Virtualbox you need to perform a similar operation. The manual (h t t p ://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html) has a section relating to USB, you might find more information there.
Sorry I can't give you step by step instructions... it's been too long. Anyhow I hope this helps you in the right direction.
thanks for the reply. i managed to get windows xp on virtualbox to recognise the mini pro but still nothing happened when i put it in flash mode. any ideas why?
