hi there
i am a noob i just brought vibrant previously using htc hero...
i tried to flash bionix and bionix fusion with the new 1.2 ghz oc...
phone works well except when i play games like asphalt, neocore my phone freezes then i have to remove the battery and insert again...
what could be the problem
i am using J12 RADIO....
PLEASE HELP ....
VIBRANT IS 100% AN IPHONE KILLER ... LOVE IT....
mine does the same thing not really sure why yet but if your using setcpu just put the speed at 1000 on both the proformance is unnoticable

i had kept setcpu max 1000 and min 200 still it freezes when running heavy graphics games
Your phone might not play nice with that kernel. Try flashing core 1.0 instead and see if that helps.
Yes, not all phones are stable when overclocked. Use the stock kernel and you should be fine.

^^^ this, but I'm sure you knew that since it says so every where.
My phone runs great at 1.2Ghz with JAC's XMOD Voodoo kernel, but locks up constantly with Core, OCed or not. Try swapping kernels, but don't give up on the OC yet.
I'm having the same exact issue, mine will just lock up for no reason sometimes as well. I'm not sure what it is, I kind of feel like it's the rom. I had problems originally with fusion to begin with. Maybe I'm not doing a proper procedure to install it?
Is it because I'm wiping and going straight to fusion? Please anyone else are you having this issue, I'm getting frustrated and feel my phone is slightly useless like this. I HATE stock.
Edit: Setcpu doesn't let me set to 1000 with Core 1.2Ghz, I can only get 1000 if I use Core 1.0Ghz (obviously). Again though, same issue regardless.
Core is still in beta status and not all the bugs have been worked out yet. The issue the OP is having has been mentioned before in the Core thread in the Dev section and on the TeamWhiskey.com forums as well.
OP: To alleviate the freezing issue you're having, flash the 1.0GHz CoreV1 instead of the 1.2GHz CoreV1

Hello,
I've had the phone rooted and the new cm7 (bad***), it all runs great I just wonder how some people are getting 5k Quad score while I am at the same 3.2 as it was on stock. I do have the same Kernel and everything when rooting and flashing went so smooth. Is there something I am missing.......
Thanks in advance.

I did, than quadrant freezes while I'm running it. As in when I click submit score, it automatically goes back to the 1st 2d test and than force closes.
"sorry I left that out" :/
call me ignorant but do people STILL think that quadrant scores mean soemthing? why are people still comparing them???
Some people just want to stroke their epeen on the net.
And as to overclocking - not everyone will be able to overclock. There's a reason the device is only sold as 1.2 GHz - that's all it was tested to. Some might hit 1.4, some might hit 1.6, some might be right at the edge and only be able to do 1.2.
its not the quadrant score that matters. Its the idea of why it is different. All the devices have the same cpu have the same kernel and are rooted/flashed as stated in the forum (the same way). So why is mine doing so when clocked and running. I don't care what the score is. even 1200 score is enough for a phone. I didn't want to stroke anything. Its the matter of where the problem/case/scenario is coming from. As in, will it cause other problems and is it a problem at all. having had 5 android rooted/flashed devices I've never experienced it........... Why do people have to be ignorant and troll a forum is an issue I cant understand?
Bump for help

if you're asking why your quad score differs from other ppl's phone with the same setup, then you need to research more.
Not all phones are built the same. Just because they all have the same hardware and software, doesnt mean they'll all operate the same.
is fauxs123 oc kernal v2.0 1.3oc
is this the limit of our devices is this the max we can push our cpu with respect for rhe overheat issues and the negitive
affects that follow along with overclocking one would speculate we could oc to atleast 1.5-1.8 or even 2.0
mabe im just hopeing yea i know its not a pc and no we aint dumping liquid nitrogen onto the cpu to cool it down
but dang could we please have more power; put some pimp juice in this thing 1.5oc or 2.0 i know im prolly spining my wheels in the mud here
just thinking out loud i gess
at&t unlocked alienv4 fauxs v2.0-1.3oc
custom webtop( xfdesktop-xfce4-panel
Lol, that would be cool, but I don't think it'll show at all any performance difference ... until ICA. (Hopefully)

Well if you go to his post about the Kernel he is still having issues getting the second core running the same speed as the 1st when OC is functional. So I would assume once that issue is resolved there Might be fast OC but that also depends on how Hot the CPU winds up at the higher clock speeds and of course the stability.

ive tried every rom/kernal combination and with each i get lock ups when doing intensive cpu work such as a game or benchmark overclocked to 1.6 any ideas? Thanks
Just means your processor was built a little weak. Its only built to run at 1.2ghz so anything above that is pushing it hard... some phones can be oc'd that much, some can't. Just take it down to 1.4. I can't even get mine to 1.4 so he thankful

What voltage do you have it at? Try raising it 25mV at a time stressing you cpu at each step until you're stable. That is if you are determined to run 1.6 and i would not push more than +100mV personally.

I do not think entropy is the one who has issues...
This has been discussed in 10 different threads already and in great detail. If the OP did as much as search he would of have found the answer himself. That is why they call it research
the only question left is...... You mad bro?
Keep all voltages stock, then use voltage congrol and click on 1400 and increment the slider+ 25, then do the same for 1600. This is what i had to do to get my phone stable at 1.6 Some phones may need EXTRA voltage and others need less. It takes some testing to get your particular phone stable at anything over 1.2Ghz. I only did it to see if I saw any gains. Actually for me and my phone I found as far as MY SETUP and testing many different benchmark style apps at 1.4Ghz i got better benchmarks than i did at 1.6Ghz. Now everyones phones will act sligbtly different so your mileage may vary.

At 1.6 ghz... your phone will be discharging your battery ON your charger... I personally wouldn't recommend doing it as it gets the phone really hot, and causes the chip lots of stress due to high heat. Personally if you need more performance (this phones pretty damn fast anyways) go to 1.4ghz.
Most of our phones can be overclocked to 1.4 and some can go to 1.6 but not all. If you change the voltages and it still craps out, then take it down a notch to 1.4 and see how that works for you.

Now now. Since when do we encourage keeping things stock.
My point is - if it were guaranteed to hit 1.6, it would be sold as 1.6.
Being able to hit 1.6 is luck of the draw, pure and simple.
There's a reason:
1) OC is not default on my kernel
2) I held off on providing OC support for a while here, and NEVER released it on Infuse (users weren't mature enough to handle it over there)
3) I have a warning in GIANT RED LETTERS not to complain about OC stability issues on my kernel thread.

This is all true... but the OP was simply asking a question now lets all play nice.
We should have an OC that allows n00bs to melt their cpu.... 2.5ghz ftw
No no no.... We have too many "I tried to load the ICS in the I9100 forums, and I bricked my phone, please help!" threads. we don't need "I OC'ed my phone to 8ghz and melted my cpu" threads too
Tegrak allows you to go past 1.6. I thought these CPU were locked @ 1.6 but i had to up my voltage at 1.7 and i got a small bump in my benches though i probably did run my test enough to confirm the bump. At so.e point, when i get some time ill beat on my CPU some more

I ran my phone at 1.6 for days just to see performance. No UV at all.. battery certainly drained faster, but not while charging. It charged just fine.. and stayed cool even when stressing. Like many have stated, all CPU's are slightly different .. just cause yours melts at 1.6 and wont charge doesn't mean this will happen for anyone trying to run 1.6GHz.
sent from my SGSII... suckas
Try bumpin' up the voltage 1-2 notches.
Just to add to the stats...
I've been able to run @ 1.4 with the same voltage as 1.2, but my phone will freeze once in a while when running apps like camera or navigation. Had to bump the voltage up slightly to get it stable, though I will likely just run 1.2.
I cannot run at 1.6.

Try changing or updating your kernel. Im the OP and had the same problems. with the new siyah kernel at 1.6 even if i try i cant make it lock up or freeze.
Your processor was made from a different silicon wafer than other people's phones and was rated for 1.2ghz.
Since each wafer is different, some processors take voltage better than others as well as speed. It happens.

so...my note is rooted with OC and on CWM beta 3. i even have flashed a battery percentage status bar mod (after many tries and lots of FC's issues) i finally got everything stable on a stock rom oc'd at 1.8 and this thing was sick dude...i mean so fast and big and bright and perfect...no problems except for 1...was getting random reboots...3 a couple days ago while using boat browser every mtime so uninstalled and started using dolphin. worked great until 1 rando reboot today while on dolphin browser...i figure no big deal it happens when you tweak your phone...but then all of a sudden it did something different just now it did...it just randomly rebooted while toggling wifi on except after it booted back up i couldn't unlock the screen or get into the launcher and the screen went black and unresposive. power button did nothing even holding it down...i pulled the battery out and then back in and restart and phoone booted up normally. clear as a bell and lightning fast...
so i just dialed down the oc to 1700...hope it's all good though...can't think why it would do this...
thanks?
Your phone can't handle the 1.8 ghz overclock.
When overclocking, no 2 chipsets will perform the same. Some will be able to overclock to 1.8 and some will not.

Well anyway I guess I'll post back with the results. Cuz I'm running that way now. Hope I don't brick this beauty.

You won't brick by overclocking. If you run it at an unstable clockspeed for your phone, you'll just be getting constant reboots.
1782 mhz should be fine. Try benchmarking your phone using Quadrant and Antutu from the market to stress test your phone at that new CPU speed.

I read that some users oveclocked their SGS2 to 1,6 GHz.
But you need a kernel which supports such high oc and hope that your hardware is able to handle this CPU frquency too.
As I don't overclock my phone, you have to search a little bit on xda, SGS2 forum, original dev section for kernel and oc 1.6 GHz.
Good luck !

All devices are slightly different. Some might be able to be oc a lot, some can't be at all. All depends on the phone.
And why do you need to oc? 1.2 is enough to run smoothly for almost everything. Unless you are playing the newest games...

Have been using it at 1500ghz for a few days now,and the phone works smootly.. ive been running many tests like benchmark, browsermark and so on, and my phone even gets better result than the s3 when running at 1500ghz( witch i realy dont rely to). the batterylife is still as ****ty as before,so no big defference there. u ask why i want to overclock. i was hoping to get a faster phone by doing so,and i have a faster phone now. was just hoping it would bee a bigger difference. im running thunderbolt jellybean rom and overclocked at 1500 ghz, and works good and stable. just wounder if anybody knows if i should turn up the volts too, as i read some place thath higher ghz u also need higher volt. tried to turn up the volt but the phone froze. so ill be using it at standard volts and 1500ghz for now. works good dont think ill be changing this phone for a while,it works as god as any other phone out there.

I don't know much, but I do know enough to know that you can't have a stable overclock at 1600Ghz (Gigahertz)
But, I believe that 1600Mhz could be achieved as a stable overclock.
My cpu is running at 1500 mhz 1425-1500 mv and gpu at 520mhz 1300mv the heating issue acctually drops when at 1.5 ghz, my problem is there is no point of having my gpu so high when my cpu is not good enough
