Hi Guys!
My original x10a was sold to a close friend of mine, whom accidently accessed the xRecovery menu, and select to delete the SYSTEM and DATA partition.
Now he is stuck on a endless loop of being on the Sony Ericsson boot logo text screen.
Only way to power off the phone is to physically remove the battery.
Anyways, I am trying to complete a factory reset with the 2.1 firmware, so far, I am out of luck.
I have WIN 7 x64 running, with both 32-bit 64-bit JAVA SE and development
I also have installed Android SDK, wit all the possible packages, including USB Driver Revision 4
I also have Flashtool downloaded from this website, which included the SEMC drivers.
Problem is...I cant get the computer to recognize the phone at all.
I tried even Sony Update Software as well as Companion software, with no luck.
I am physically in flash mode ... solid green LED, but the computer is not detecting the phone at all.
Flashtool is advising to connect my Xperia phone, when clearly my phone has the solid green LED with black screen (hold down back button and connecting the USB)
First I thought it was the cable, which I replaced with a OEM one, still no luck.
I removed the SD card, 16gb from the phone, and connected through my computer for flash memory sticks drive (all in one), and the card was blank.
I am presuming my friend would have deleted SDCARD data as well
So, now I am stuck in a limbo, how do I fix this?
just to give you hope, if you see the se logo that means that your phone isn't bricked.
it's probably some driver that's not installed properly. I'll let someone with real knowledge explain whatto do.
Something like this happened to me. I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried rebooting your computer?? I did that, and it worked again.
Uninstall SEUS,PC Companion and then reboot the PC.
Then download SEUS and install it. Start SEUS , go through the process. It should detect it now.
Can you access xrecovery? If you Can, download a custom ROM, follow the instructions to install.
Don't forget to extract your ROM to sdcard.

Hi All!
Thanks for the input, I do appreciate it.
I am at work right now, but will try it this evening and let you know how it proceeds.
Just as an FYI, I did restart my computer once the Java, SE Companion, SEUS, and Google SDK were installed, still had no luck, but I will try again
To access the xRecovery, it is pressing back button couple of times right?
But the SD is blank, should I use a PC to initialize the SDcard with Xrecovery and everything?
Try this steps...
1-Download a custom ROM to your sdcard and extract. (Use your PC)
2-Reboot your x10 and press a back buton many times.
3-Make following in Xrecovery
*Factory reset
*Wipe cache partition
*Wipe dalvik cache
*Wipe Battery stats
*Install custom ZIP
*Reboot
*Let the phone 5 minutes alone please...

you gotta uninstall seus and pc companion, and uninstall all the x10 drivers, then reinstall seus and pc companion
Hi why don't you use flashtool to flash a new rom? I had read in somewhere else here about this tool and seems to work flawlessly to recover bricked xperia..
End of Life ....
Hi Guys!
Sorry for the late reply,
Been extremely busy with work.
Anyways, it seems I got myself a malfunctioning motherboard or broken/damaged usb connector.
Thus, I can't do anything, it is going to cost me $150 bucks to repair.
I cant get into flash mode, as soon as I do that (the green led), windows states that USB device has malfunctioned and my Xperia continuous to the boot logo screen and stuck there.
I tried just about everything, unless anyone else knows better way?
Just to prove the USB connector is damaged, the wall-charger is not even working when the USB is connected
This sounds really extreme. Can you charge the phone? Can you connect the phone to the computer and get a solid green light - ie - flash mode?
I've encountered a similar problem, the battery is completely drained, so much so that it can not connect to the wall charger, can not connect to anything at all.. just gives three flashes of red led then stops.
The only solution is to charge the battery for a few minutes in another X10 and then with enough power, get back into the phone for long enough to re-establish charge being sent to the battery.
IF you have charge and are able to get to the white SE logo, you just need to use the SEUS software to force restore of the stock firmware.

Just one more question, have you tried changing the USB port? Sometimes the device ID gets messed up and the only way is to switch to another USB port and make sure the phone connects to the computer with the USB cable and that you have a device id.
EDIT: Worth looking into these two threads;

Problem is I am not sure what your exact problem is as I would like to help more!
The newest version of Flash Tool has drivers package included, it worked for me without installing (or reinstalling) SEUS or PC Companion. Look for a 'drivers' subfolder inside the extracted files.
Can you charge the phone?
My USB port has completely died and I've not a working phone even, so I'm unable to work on custom kernels or anything - I don't have an X10 any-more until this USB port on the phone gets re-soldered
Hi,
I've had a useless X10 here for months. I've done everything to try and reinstall the firmware including SEUS, Update Service and Flashtool. Nothing works and I cannot access my phone.
I was hoping I could get it working with the new flashtool. After running it and connecting the phone, it's giving me the error:
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - Then go to application settings
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
The problem I'm having is, I haven't been able to get my x10 to turn on. Is there a way to flash without having debugging enabled?
Thanks.

Have you looked at this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Try this:
1 - remove the battery and wait for 4 - 5 minutes;
2 - reinsert the battery;
3 - put your phone to charge in a wall socket (not thru USB);
4 - leave it charging for about 3 - 4 hours (check if the led is on);
5 - try to flash a stock rom using flashtool.
My X10 has an issue with the battery that makes it power off and not turn on while I don't do steps 1 and 2. I've tried to reflash a stock rom, but had received the same error you have, until I put the battery to charge during the entire night. After the recharge, I was able to reflash the rom fine (altough the problem of shutting off randomsly still happens).
Hope it helps.
I've tried using flashtool after charging my phone for a good 10 hours. It takes around 4-6 hours to flash 7-8/10 files then the battery dies.
Nothings working. The new flashtool demands the phone have unknown sources and debugging enabled but I can't since I cannot access my phone.
And if it matters at all my phone was rooted with FreeX10 rom.
GTFIH X10 geeks, help me.
when it just wont work
CHARGE PHONE TOO 100% BEFORE STARTING ANYTHING.
First ALL FLASHTOOLS Have to be done in Administrator mode on your PC/laptop and this may also fix that messed up usb port you seem to have on it to. You should NEVER charge you phone for more then 2ish hours in fact it should only take about 1.5 to 2 hours if not then you have a bad one. Also you should check that your usb drivers are up to date before you start. And Be Patient.
Had the same problem last year. What you need to do is uninstall all Se software Pc Companion an Se update Sevice and all Java.
If you have a registry cleaner and or an uninstaller (not windows) like Revo Uninstaller free or Pro use it to uninstall an clean registry. (BUT NOT IN Administrator Mode only Flashtool needs this)
Do a disk clean up Local Disk C:drive/right click properties/click disk cleanup/click all boxes/Click run/clean.
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
Yes boot again.
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
The first boot sets up your cleanup the second boot starts a fresh boot cycle again wait for full load up light stops.
Reinstall all programs letting them update them self. JAVA first Pc Companion then Se update Service rebooting on each one NOT all at once (waiting till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading) each time.
This helps your stack/drive stay clean.
If you do not have 7zip (free) you should get it now an download an install it reboot PC (waiting till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
When connecting phone to PC use a different USB port then the one you used at first.
Now Start Pc Companion and let it do it's thing, do as it says, connecting phone to update Pc Companion to it.
Then do the same for Se update doing as it says and do an update and/or repair.
If it says to unplug or plugin USB just unplug/plugin the USB on the PC not the phone and making sure that you put it back in the same USB port.
Create a folder on C: drive:
Right click Start/Explore/Click (high light) Local Disk(C) click file/new/folder/
right click new folder/rename/Flashtool version ?.?.?
Download And Save to Folder you made on the C: drive

Install Flashtool on C: drive:
After downloading file to folder go to file and in it a rar file
Right click 7zip file/Select Extract to Flashtool ?.?.?
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive stops loading (light stops flickering).
When using Flashtool do not unplug USB from PC and when plugging in for flashing just remove battery plug mini USB in phone hold back button an put battery back in.
While Flashing NEVER TURN OFF/CLOSE FLASHTOOL until the phone is up and working completely.
After putting firmware in folder.
Right Click/x10Flashtool/Click Run As Administrator.
And follow the instruction in all the guides and all should be good.
NOW READ THIS POST FIRST

make sure you have a sim card in the phone, that might get you past your problems
Do you have x10.sin in loaders in flashtool?
Is your USB cable connected through a hub? There is absolutely no reason it should take anywhere near that long to flash unless your connection is to slow. I tried flashing while plugged through a passive hub and it would get to ~70% and fail everytime until I plugged directly into the PCs USB port. Flashing should only take a few minutes if you have a good USB connection.

Did you get it fixed ?? Phone power should be at least 60% when you start anything
To get in to xrecovery turn off phone wait 5 seconds then turn on phone and pressing the back button tell it comes up if it doesn't try again and if it still doesn't then you didn't do something right.
Also try SU update repair.
Try turning off phone plug in usb to phone then pc then turn on phone if you flashed right xrecovery should come up on phone then scroll down with volume button to advanced setting clear all then re-flash Firmware. if not re-root install xrecovery if that does not work start ALL over from start with my first post on the 24th. my guess is you are missing some steps.
@GravvyTrain
Yes I do have a Sim card in the phone, problem remains the same
@Dusza Spc
Yes I do have the x10.sin file in flashtool
@CMoney87
Not using a hub, directly into my laptop USBS. Also tried on various computers, same problem. It's the phone.
@Lion3494
I doubt it's my battery, I've used another and same problem.
@Patricks_book
Have not fixed the problem. I literally can't access anything on the phone, When you press the power button it vibrates and thats it. I've tried accessing Xrecovery and It doesn't do anything.
I've tried SU Update Repair and it gives me a network error (I've disabled firewalls, tried on another computer) and It doesn't allow me to go any furthur (wrote the exact error in a previous thread).
I haven't missed any steps, It just doesn't flash.
Awesome to make things even better, my phone won't go green when on USB.
Put the phone onto charge and all it gives me is blinking red light.
Goodnight sweet X10.

Hi everybody ////////-----------------
I'm no expert in this section........ but I want you all to understand clearly( I didn't mean that Willey1986's guide not clear)
But for some new members, hard to understand that
First download FTF bundle & Recovery image from below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192152
download Xrecovery 0.3GBready.zip from following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
here step by step,
1/-Flash 2.1 update1 stock rom with the lastest flash tool.......
2/-After that root your x10 with super one click
3/-After that install busy box.... then install Xrecovery 0.3(not GBready)
4/-Backup your current rom using xrecovery ,,,,, reboot
5/-Extract prerooted zip to your pc desktop , you will see one folder
6/-Then connect your phone with pc and mount sd card
open your memory card/xrecovery/backup/your backup date(folder)
7/-You will need to delete your backup date(folder) and replace with prerooted
folder
8/-Copy and paste Xrecovery 0.3 GB ready.zip to your sd card
9/-Then disconnect with pc and your phone and switch off your phone
10/-Boot up your phone with xrecovery and restore your backup folder
11/-And flash Xrecovery 0.3 GB ready.zip
12/-If finished, don't reboot your phone
13/-Take out your battery and flash FTF bundle (Extracted ftf file) with flash
tool
14/-Now start your x10i and ENJOY
THIS IS NOT MY ROM ,,,,,, I JUST SHOW HOW I DID
THANK YOU ALL.............
For point 2 and
3 you can do it with flashtool
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

XperiaU have a modified kernel with android 2.3.7, want to know if I upgrade to ICS by Sony's PC Companion can cause a problem for the modified kernel. (root)
If you use a modified kernel, then you have an unlocked bootloader so you cant use Sony PC Companion! Get Flashtool and the FTF instead Its a lot faster and simpler in my opinion
If you have any doubts on howto proceed, reply here or message me

already heard about using FlashTool if you know of any link that teaches this would be grateful if you showed. but if I tried using the PC companio what would happen?
Found this on AndroidSoul Blog and modified for relevance :
1) Now copy the “.ftf” firmware file that you downloaded for your phone, and paste it inside the “firmwares” folder.
2) Double click the “FlashTool.exe” file.
3) Once the program opens — click on the “Flash” button. Its the Lightning button on top left
4) You’ll see the firmware that you copied loaded on the screen — click “Ok”!
Now it should ask you to connect your phone to the PC. So first plug the USB cable to PC, then pick up your phone and hold the “Volume Down” key and then connect the USB cable to your phone. Remember you’ve to hold the “Volume Down” key while connecting the USB cable to phone.
Once the phone gets connected — Flashtool will automatically start the flashing process.
Keep an eye on the Flashtool’s screen.
And once the process gets finished, disconnect your phone from PC and switch it ON.
Don’t freak if it takes longer to boot (that’s normal) as the phone has to build the cache again after flashing.
That will get you started And Sony PC Companion will give an error saying modified software if you try to flash on device with unlocked bootloader
ps : Since you are flashing a rom, use Flashmode and not fastboot when asked

Hello guys, how is it going?
Like 2 weeks ago, a friend gave me a Xperia X10i asking for a help on fixing it, it's from someone else and no one knows how the phone got "broke/bricked".
- First time I grab phone and press power button a red led blinked 3 times, several tries and phone sometimes just gave one red blink, other times 3, so I plugged it to charger all night.
- Next day, pulled out battery and tried again, the phone blinks green light once and vibrate for a half second, then nothing. Had to pull battery out and in again and press power button and same situation.
- Computer detects phone and ask drivers, this happens if I plug it with or without back key pessed for flashmode.
What I've tried:
- Installed PC Companion and tried a software update, program notifys me that my phone already have the lattes firmware.
- Installed SEUS and it ask me to turn phone on to update it, which is not possible at the moment.
- Tried a DOS+Java flasher with another firmware and it hangs on process (tried changing Java versions on PC, tried with 3 different OSs, 32 and 64 bits).
- Installed Flashtool and tried to flash but hangs on process too (tested 0.2 and 0.9 versions with diferent roms/kernels/java versions).
Phone still the same, once I press power button for turning on, green light blinks once and vibrate for a half second.
I up to to start all over, fresh windows/linux install (tell me which version), what java and other software versions you tell me are the best.
I've been reading over here and over there but seems that I'm missing something, or must of the times the links are dead, and can't get the decent roms and stuff.
Any help will be apreciated, thanks and regards, Andres.

I don't know what exactly happened to the phone but I think the owner has been removed some parts of software (like kernel or rom)
Do these:
1-put a sdcard in phone & try booting up(some custom kernels won't bootup without sdcard)
2-connect charger & try booting when charger is connected
#if these steps doesn't work it means it's 99/99% a software problem,so we need to reflash stock frimware:
1-download flashtools app (not latest! New versions doesn't include x10i drivers! )
2-Install it
3-download stock frimware from the net
4-go to wherever you installed flashtools& open frimware folder, paste downloaded frimware there (in ftf format, if not rename it!)
5-in the flashtool folder now open drivers folder, open & install "Gordon's gate" app then run it,
6- now open flash tools, click on lightning button & press flashmode.
7-select frimware & press next
After a while you'll be asked for attaching phone so hold back button & connect USB cable.

Thanks for the answer, I'll give a try when reach home, all my attempts were without SIM card on it, so maybe I got luck there, thanks again.
Same results with SIM card on it, folled your step by step too.
The far I coud go was with flashtool-0.9.10.1-windows stucks on reading device info, and FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec stucks on flashing kernel.sin, it's hard to make it flash as it's like I plug phone on flashmode, it disconnects and connects again in an eye blink and flash gets aborted.
Tested on Windows 7 x64/Java 7u21 and on Windows XP x86/Java 6/u20 on same Desktop PC
Also tryied to flash some stock based kernel and CM10 custom firmware but same results.
Is there any special version for flashtool for X10i?
Maybe my drivers are bad but I have installed the ggsetup-2.2.0.11 and Windows detects phone fine.

Maybe my PC Companion version is not the right one (seems like I got lattest, it's the 2.10.136, downloaded from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/), I've read on other threads that PC Companion has a repair function, I navigate inside Support Zone and can only see Phone Software Update, Xperia Care and recycle phone, software update just tells me that my phone already has the lattest firmware and other 2 options brings a web page up, I can't see a repair option there =/
Did any of you guys have an older PC Companion setup file to share?

1-Do you hold "back " button till progress finish?
2-try drivers inside flashtools app (in "drivers" folder )
+make sure battery is at least 10% charged cause sometimes USB won't charge phone correctly

Thanks, I didn't realized that the behaviour of the software was different if phone was plugged or not to the PC, the repair function only shows up if phone is unplugged... Sorry again.
Now that I can go throught the repair menu, after select the phone model the software reports "There's no software available for your device", maybe the server is down at the moment, I've tried different models and all gives me the same report, I'll give a try with some USA proxy.
Thanks again.

Already tryed all that except that I can't see the battery level as screen never turns on, but I've left the phone several nights and at the morning tryed flashing and same results, it seems to be charged as when I've recived the phone it wont try to turn on, it was only blinking red lights.
I'll try to contact SE support tomorrow, to see if they can send me the files as the software stills reporting that there are no sofware to download for my device (I'm trying every day).
Thanks again.
