The swipe keypad on my vibrant will randomly stop working. When I press any letters nothing happens. Sometimes it will still make the swype trail but it won't put the words in. Then if I change the input method to either the android or Samsung keyboard and go back to swype again it will work for a while but then stop again. It's very frustrating because i love swype! Has anyone else had this problem?
I was having a similar problem, but I switched to the android keyboard permanently because it was irrititating the hell out of me.
I finally just called T-Mobile because I couldn't find a solution anywhere. They said they'll just send me a new one. In the meantime though it's back to the android keyboard.

Text input will randomly stop working on my Eris, the autocorrect sees that I'm inputing text and offers suggestions but the text doesn't show up in the text box. This is happening with every keyboard I've tried including; HTC IME, HTC IME MOD, Shapewriter, and stock keyboard. This also is happening on all roms I've tried; KaosFroyo, Sensable, Evil Eris, and CyanogenEris.
After dealing with this problem since I've had my phone in December I finally decided to look for a fix, but I can't find anything on this forum or from any Google searches. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or have a way to fix it?
A bit of a development...
After paying more attention to this I have noticed that whenever this occurs my phone is actively uploading and/or downloading on an analog connection, or at least that is what it says in the notification area....
Same problem on my rooted Eris, running XtrRom3.0.3. Doesn't happen very often but would like to know if there is a fix.
Anyone else having problems with the swype keyboard not responding? Every now and again the trace stops working, and i when i switch between letters and numbers the keyboard doesnt do anything...
this has been addressed many time. there's a bug in the swype with the phone. to get the tracing to start working again you will have to change your input method (keyboard) then change back to swype.

I have the same problem right now as well, as a sprint ASC tech I have no solutions from HTC or Sprint. The switching input methods doesnt work for me on my device and neither does restarting the device. My phone is stuck like this.
The problem is with swype from what ive been told though, I hope they update their crap soon.
have noticed this as well. i thought I was doing something wrong at first.
get ultra keyboard, it blows swype outta the water. it does tracing better too if you want that
I am running bionix nextgen v2, and It was working fine for the first few weeks and now I seem to be getting a problem where I cannot type anything, switching back and forth between the two keyboards does not help. The only thing that temporarily fixes the problem is restarting my phone. I can touch the letters and it will act like im typing it, even giving me word choices, but the word will not show up even if i use voice to text it will not show the words. Does anybody have a permanent fix for this or has had this problem before?

Try going into Settings>Applications>Application Management, click on "all" find your keyboards in there and clear data for each one, restart and see if that works.
I have tried what you said but the problem still occurs after some time after restart, also I have tried new keyboards but it seems that the words will not show up anywhere when I type them even for searching the web. And I know the keys are working because it still pops up as if I had pressed a letter
save everything and go to CWM and do a factory reset
I am having this issue... I can be typing along in swiftkey, thumb keyboard or the built in key board and after awhile the process of keying just goes crazy. I will hit a particular key like say n and all of a sudden 5 or 6 other random letters will show up. Or some spaces or some punctation marks or numbers. And once that starts it is hard to stop it. Every word I try to write just shows up as all kinds of crazy letters.
Anybody else experience this?
Not on my flyer, but my N1 will sometimes freak out and misregister key presses. Turning the screen off and back on seems to fix it though.

I use swiftkey and have never seen this problem. Have you tried the stock keyboard? does the problem occur there?
Problem can occur with stock keyboard or swiftkey. I am having a dog of a time typing this. It seems to be a function of typing for a long time.
I know this thread is old, but i am having the exact same problem and i dont know what its causing it. Do you think it might be the touchscreen itself? Or maybe the keyboard app? A custom rom would solve the problem? Is it a faulty device, or a characteristic of all the devices and there is nothing to be done about it?
I'm trying to pair my bluetooth keyboard, which worked perfectly under Gingerbread, but will not pair under ICS. Basically, the keyboard will not go into pairing mode until I give it a pin, and ICS won't give me the pin until the keyboard is pairing. Is there any way to tell ICS what pin to expect before trying to pair? This is the sequence I am doing:
1. Put keyboard in discoverable mode.
2. Select the keyboard in the bluetooth menu.
3. Type in a pin on the keyboard and hit enter.
4. A dialog comes up on the tablet telling me what pin to use to pair. (I have to type in the pin in the keyboard for this to come up)
5. Pairing fails after about 1/4 of a second.
Anyone I have the same thing. Get a pop up for a quarter of a second that has a pin but I can't enter it or even read it and then fail.
Please been looking for a solution for a while.
HP Touchpad CM9 4.03
I've downgraded to cyanogenmod 7, and am purchasing a case with a built in keyboard that hopefully does not share the issue. I think these are the only two options.
Bluetooth keyboard in ics
Hi all, I hope I'm in the right area, I have android ics, when I go to pair a Bluetooth keyboard, I put the keyboard into pairing mode and then search on the phone. The phone finds the keyboard and sais please enter the pin code on the keyboard, and press enter, wichita I do and the message on the phone disappears and the keyboard seems to be pairs, but when you look at the keyboard the pairing light is still flashing. The keyboard works great on my partners...dare I say it iPad, but I can not get it to work in ics. I've tried blueinput, blue keyboard jp ,but neither of these program's seem to help. The can see the keyboard but don't seem to connect to them. Any help would be appreciated. To me it seems as tho the keyboard is not receiving an acceptance message from the phone to say connected.

I would venture to say this is a device specific issue. I'd recommend going to the forum for your particular device and replying to a six month old post there that is vaguely related to your issue.
I have looked through the forums, and havnt found anything that helps. I have tried different programs and possible fixes. To no avail. I have a generic phone with ics so rooting may not b an option. One thing i have noticed is ics automatically generates a bluetooth access key. Is there a way to change this to manually choose or enter a pass key. I think this may be part of my problem. Or possibly fix the issue i have. Any thoughts.
