Alright everybody,
I have had the mozart now for a few weeks and everything is outstanding on it, it's pretty far removed from WM6.5.
The only problem i'm having is the camera just seems to shoot a little blurry, I know some of the pics are me not quite keeping still, I was just wondering what settings it should be on for a good picture.
Thanks
Graham
Hi,
I've not changed any of settings and am getting pretty good results (when I remember to wait for the 2nd flash that is!).
Will have a play about with the settings over the weekend and post if I find anything interesting.
I'm currently thinking about getting a 7 Mozart myself and was wondering how the camera performs.
Could you please take some pictures and post them here?
Thank you very much in advance.

I'd say that's a superb quality for a mobile camera
Could you please post some pictures (preferably in bad lighting condition too) of the camera, too?
Thank you for your work

How does the Mozart camera compare to the Omnia 7? I am considering either this for the camera or the Omnia for the S-Amoled.
I'm experience the blurred image as well and I did not change the setting either.
Just wonder how to take close ups with this camera e.g. when i take photos of a book the words are not readable, blurred???
EDIT: Wrong thread !
Anyway, I'm having the same issue with "blurry" pictures. Even my N900's 5Mpix camera is performing better... *Sigh*

This might sound a bit odd, but u know the button on the side to press to actually take the pic? .. Hold it in for about 5/6 secs and it seems to zoom in and crisp the focus ... then click to take a pic.

Have you tried Macro mode? Works well for me.
I've not had any problems with blurry pictures.....unless I move after focus has locked. Unfortunately there's no Microsoft update coming for me being bad at keeping still!
Ok, we need to press the camera button for a while until it adjusts the focus, then close ups can be taken and once focus is locked then there is no blurr and images are just excellent. thank dov74.
any thing i'm missing in settings about macro mode? not sure where it is.

No Problem.
Macro mode is under camera/settings/scenes then it's the last option. I've not taken any proper photos with it but I've messed about with it and have gotten good results.
From memory, another member on here uploaded a picture taken in Macro mode - will have a look and see if I can find.

thanks dov74, I've found it, never scrolled the scenes option further down

Hi. I'm using cyanogenmod 10 for almost 3 weeks . The camera which came with cm10 is showing less field what actually is.
Are the photos it saves a normal field of view? In other words is the problem only with the view in the camera app or is it with the saved photos too

Also you can see the light switch(left side) is in the view
For second picture,
But in this picture you can't see my printer and my light switch.
I didn't move the camera btw just took a screenshot then pressed the capture
Any ideas?
You can't bump a thread more than once every 24 hours
I believe this is done because of the aspect ratio of your screen and the photos your camera takes. If the photo fov were to be used in the camera, there would be black bars in the camera app. You can try using another camera app from the play store to fix this.

I'm sorry. I didn't know that . Do I have to use 3rd party camera apps. Or can developers fix this problem in next updates. And can you advise me a good 3rd party app. Thanks for your help.
Do you have photo stabilization by any chance? That does reduce the fov.
No I don't have photo stabilization.
Try an app in the store called "lg camera" from memory that's the name. It has black bars which is what you want
NO no no this is not that I wanted. Actualy when I take photos with my friends they can't be seen before shooting.so sometimes they seen out of the fov but when I take photos they are in the fov. I don't want black bars or something. I mean I want to take a photo which looks exactly same in the preview.my post which has an attachment will show my problem.
I was an iphone 5 user and made the switch over to the Note 2 recently. One thing I miss is this app called Simply HDR. It's a faux HDR that added some neat effects. I'm no photographer at all so I don't understand your basic photo settings which is why simply HDR was great because you could just choose a pre set and be done.
Does anyone know of an app that does pretty much the same thing, maybe one that I missed?
I have tried pretty much all apps i come across and the only one that comes close is HDR fx. Downside is it is way over done and the photos look over processed and terrible. There is also very few pre sets that create the desired effect.
Have you tried

I purchased the following apps and have had great success with them.
You can see some photos taken with Pro HDR Camera on my Flickr @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
Pro HDR Camera
HDR FX Pro (Have to play with the settings quite a bit to get the desired effect)
Perfectly Clear (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX)
Pixlr Express (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX and useful for resizing images)
You may also want to take a look at Vignette Camera and Camera FV-5. In my opinion, Camera FV-5 gives you the most control over the settings and pics.
Hope this helps

Hey im back... you can continue with life =)
Unfortuantely the only app that gets close to what im looking to accomplish was photo fx but it was way over processed looking. Ive got to spend time tinkering.
I got an email from the guys at Simplyhdr/JixPix and they plan in releasing simply HDR on android soon hopefully. Its not a natural hdr which most if the apps here seem to be doing actualy hdr function...taking multiple photos and stitching them together. Simlly hdr takes one and creates an hdr effect that seems more dramatic. Hard to explain.
try this...

Don't ignore this post!! Try it! It works wonders!
Hi guys, I am certain everyone is unhappy with the camera quality of Lenovo A6000 plus, otherwise a great phone. Having used LUMIA 920 for 2 years and LUMIA 520 for 6 months, I was very much disappointed with the camera quality of this phone. I was expecting it to be at least on par with the 'just 5MP' camera of 520 but was proven horribly wrong. The case worsens even more if you are running a custom ROM. So loads of searching and trying all available camera apps on the play store I finally got a solution. I want to share it.
First you will have to download this app 'Cinema FV-5'.
The link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.cinema.lite&hl=de
This is the lite version. Try it, if you like buy it! (This is not my app by the way, just sharing).
1. Open the app, go to settings. In 'General camcorder settings', uncheck 'focus before capturing', and check 'allow capturing videos without focus', this is necessary for continuous focus during recording.
2. In 'Video' tab, check custom video settings, change the video resolution to 1280x720 16:9, change the FPS to 24 and leave everything else as it is, don't change.
3. On the same page 'Video', touch 'set image parameters', you will now be on viewfinder screen. There decrease sharpness to 0 and hit done.
4. Touch the [AF] icon and change the focus mode to continuous like in the image. And you are done!
You won't believe how much difference it makes even compared to stock Lenovo camera. While the stock Lenovo camera makes jarring and VGA quality videos, this app with these of my settings records much much better videos!
For photos -
For photos, you can use the sibling app 'Camera FV-5', go to settings > photo encoding settings > set image parameters and decrease sharpness to 0.

Did you follow every step mentioned by me? It should give you better results than stock camera any day!! At least on a custom ROM! But I believe it will work just as good on stock rom too cause the video recording in stock rom with stock Camera app pretty much sucks!! By no means it looks 720p 'HD', it feels like VGA at 15fps recording. For better focus you need to pay attention to the first and last instruction in the OP. Have a good luck!
We finally got a version of 6.1 with the updated libraries and features (Night Sight, etc) that doesn't kill the front camera!
I've been working on this with DefconG and Cstark for a while now, trying to figure out how to fix the noise profile / black levels in the front cam so we aren't stuck with 5.1 (and its arguably inferior image quality and sharpness), and this seems to be the first major breakthrough!
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog924/
It says for Pie, but don't worry. It will install fine on Oreo. You may need to uninstall other 6.1 ports if you are having trouble installing it (on my device it conflicted with a 6.1 Arnova installation).
Front cam and both rear cams are fully supported with HDR+ Enhanced now. Night Sight is also an option. Some new funky feature too like zoom enhancements and other fun things that aren't entirely documented. Use the attached settings XML for the best V20 experience.
Definitely looks sharper, much more config options to fiddle. But after taking more than 2 photos it crashes, both with hdr, hdr enhanced, hdr off and hexagon dsp disabled.
If going for version 6 this looks like the choice.
Thanks for the good work.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do I apply the xml settings?
EDIT:
I think I got it. Writing steps for others here. Thanks man! You're the hero we need.
1. A quick search led to this: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/settings09/
2. Downloading the xml seemed oddly difficult, so I downloaded it on my laptop and transferred it to my phone. It seems to be working fine

Double click the any empty black area near shutter button, it will as for the config. But be sure to copy the xml file to your \gcam\configs directory first.
I'm guessing no 7.0 support?
Night sight seems to be crashing now.. on the main cam especially. Anyone else facing the same?

As far as I know, any GCam after 5.1 needs Oreo or higher, and any GCam from 6.2 on needs Pie or higher.
Sadly doesn't work on H990DS Oreo, I have version mismatch maybe because of that.
Have to go back to 5.1
Hello everyone. First off thank you so much for your work and development. I have been playing around with the 6.1 camera and I think I have everything working, but lens blur keeps force closing while processing the image.
I did download the XML file and double tap in the black area next to the shutter button change to the correct config file. But I'm still having the issue with lens blur is there something that I'm missing? Also, is there a way to make it save directly to the SD card? And any way to brighten up lens blur?
Thanks again for the awesome work. It would be really nice to only need one camera!

Haven't tried Lens Blur yet, but regarding directly saving to SD card, that's not a feature since no Google Pixel phone has an SD card slot. You'll have to rely on an automatic process to move the files for you via something like Tasker or a specific app that someone made:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-gcam-tool-automatically-photos-t3752115
In Settings I changed both front and back cameras to be 16:9. However if I press the camera switch button then the settings does not stay. It goes like this:
Main Camera (16:9) -> Front Camera (16:9) -> Wide Camera (4:3) -> Front Camera (16:9) -> Main Camera (4:3)
Is it possible to fix this behavior so that switching to the Wide camera doesn't remove my Main camera settings?
Apologize for my ignorant. Does this app need root? What is the xml file for?

From my experience:
1. No root required
2. Xml file sets the settings/parameters which are optimal, and also somehow save the app from crashing.
Someone else might be better informed though.

There's a couple of ways to toggle the cameras which can be set in the settings menu. One is to long-press the front/back toggle button, the other is to alternate each time you go from rear cam to front cam. The long press seems makes more sense on paper, but in reality it then pauses as it resets the app. Toggling to front cam and then back to rear seems to happen faster so you are ready to take a picture sooner. But then it is confusing because taking a selfie and then back to rear you forget which camera you are on now at first. I wish there was a toggle that worked like in the stock LG app, but the quality of Gcam is so good its worth it.

Are you from India and if you ordered the product via flipkart during big billion day sale? I found similar complaints from three other users in twitter. But for some, they do not have the problem. May be a defective piece?

The exact issue is that front camera is out of focus/always focusing at infinity. It is not getting focused on the human nearby.
Absolutely same
Yes happened to me too, last morning i received and used stock camera and gcam 7.0 too the front camera photos are so blurry if we zoom in.
Poor sharpness, compared it with POCO F1 and noticed LG G8X thinQ is having very dull front camera sharpness
And poor white balance in nights.
Same in night mode in gcam too.
Please suggest some settings to fix this.
As per Lg we are supposed to keep the camera 30cm away to focus.
https://qhelp.lge.com/share.ncd?mode=F&oid=5094M04UN8&sid=6EL
I think all the phones have this issue as its set on infinity focus.
Happened with me too
The so called 32 Mp Front Camera is so poor. No sharpness, no details and poor AWB.
Even Pocof1 did amazing job compared to Lg G8x.
Tried several Gcams but result remain the same
Yes front camera is very poor..no sharpness..even my 4.5 year old redmi note 3 with gcan takes better selfie
Yep, gcam makes little bit improvement in sharpness but that's it.
My oneplus has way better front camera than g8x.
As well I found that wide camera is also not clear, compared to main camera.
And video from wide camera is very bad.
I have read several tech review blogs that the front camera is fixed at infinity, and hence the face is not focused correctly. It's not a defect, and it's not a recent issue. Even Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the same problem. You have to keep the device as far as away as possible while taking a selfie.

You are right.
I agree that the stock cam is far-focused that results in very (defocused) smooth selfies. Alternate solution that I tried is to install this Gcam version with a xml config file that I created after playing around with the config of it for quite a while. This should raise the quality of selfies quite a bit and feel free to even tweak the settings further to cater to your preference.
Let me know if it helped and how the results are looking after using this.
PS: After installing this Gcam and downloading the XML file, open the Gcam, navigate to the section "More" from the bottom tiles on the main screen. Between the options that appear on the screen and the bottom tile (from where you selected the option "More"), there will be some space/gap. Double-tap in that gap and an option to select the config file will appear. Select the downloaded XML file and hit OK, the GCam app will restart with the config from that file pre-loaded. Happy Clicking.
