As the title implies; I've been experiencing a drastic change in my X10 mini's battery life ever since I went from 1.6 to 2.1. The battery depletes itself in less than 24 hours, whereas it used to last for 3-4 days.
I have set down the brightness, using only GSM.
Any insights?
Thnx
My battery performance has actually increased with 2.1. Check your background app activity. Regular updating of tweets or weather can reduce battery life

Same with me. The battery does not last long enough. I have to charge it every night. Any suggestions ?
Try using the standard "Home" that shipped with the phone instead of a 3rd party app like AWD launcher or Launcher pro. You'd be surprised by how much power these apps use.
My battery life went from 1 day using ADW to 2-3 days using Sony Ericsson's Home launcher.
I am also using ADW, with 1.6 the phone last without charging one day, max one and half.. with 2.1 I can not say now, because I am testing these days. But anyway, i am not going to remove the ADW, because the original SE home screen pretty sux

The SE launcher sucks. Isnt there any other solutions to this problem?
Under 1.6 my battery used to last 1 day; now 2. Much better with 2.1.
I went from about 12-14 hours of usage with 1.6 to 3-4 hours of usage with 2.1 with adw launcher as homescreen. Everything was the same, screen brightness, wifi, blutooth, widgets, update setting etc. Then i changed to launcher pro and are gettin a full day before needing to recharge. Still same settings, widgets, power control etc. So there might be a big clash between adw and some widgets or something. You should try other home screen replacements. Launcher pro gives you the same and in some cases better customisation than adw. Worth a try. ;-)

Same with me, the battery life is much better than it was for me on 1.6...
Ive know gone back to the stock SE launcher. I am already experiencing an improvement in battery life. ADW seems to be the only cause. It must be a bug or something.
Try zeam ;-) it is great and light!
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
There was a wifi bug in 1.6 (at least the 1.0.xxx release) that turned wifi off more often than it should. Check the power saving preferences on your wifi, maybe it's set to "always on"?

I noticed my battery doesn't last as long as some of the other users on here and I was wondering if those with 20+ hrs of battery life are using any other launchers aside from stock?
I have come to exclusively rely on Go Launcher EX

I took your advise too and tried ZEAM and find it pretty nice so far. Very small foot print on the system resources I beleive too.
I had LauncherPro Plus, but all the features (I couldn't resist them) seem to use up more CPU thus shortening battery life. I only need the battery to last me from when I wake up until I go to bed since I charge it each night, but it's nice to know i could go longer if I happen to forget my charger.
i'll try Zeam again. I had it on my captivate but I had a problem where the launcher seemed to "reload" every time I went back to the homescreen. The icons took a good 5 seconds to appear each time. It got annoying fast. Maybe its not a problem anymore, though.
I'll give zeam a shot too and see how it goes. thanks.

so far, its working much better on this phone than on my captivate. We'll see about battery life over the next 24 hours
I tried it out and it felt a little clunky compared to go launcher, plus I lacked a few features I've come to rely heavily one *Vertical scrolling app drawer for one.* So I am going to stick it out with Go launcher and try to optimize and conserve as much as I can. I removed the TW launcher. We'll see how that affects things if at all. Should boost battery by not having that doing things in the background that I don' want or need.

I noticed extra battery drain while using go launcher. i love that launcher though for the gestures it has but it ate too much battery. im using launcher 7 now and getting WAY better battery life

Must have missed it. I'll experiment some more with it later.
I have used Go Launcher for a while now. Love it! However LAST UPDATE KILLED MY BATTERY. Seriously used 65% of my battery in 7 hours! I uninstalled battery life is fine now. Thank God!
It's disappointing to know that its eats up that much battery. hope they come out with updates to fix it.
after using zeam launcher for a day, i dont notice any additional (or less) battery drain compared to Launcher Pro. At idle, my phone dies about 3% per hour on each launcher.
Don't notice any drain with Go either. Tried Zeam but couldn't find a way to make folders (is that true?), and love the gestures and other Go products so pretty happy ATM.

Sorry, meant in the App Drawer. That possible?
I have used GO Launcher for Prime and love it as much as I love it on my phone. I am being turned off since I read that GO Launcher is a battery hog on the phone. Personally I had not paid much attention to the difference in battery consumption between different launchers. I wonder if anyone has used GO launcher on the Prime and what they think of it? Is there a noticeable difference in power consumption between GO Launcher and the stock launcher?
when i used golauncher for a bit i didn't notice any extra battery usage from it.
i only used it for about a week before going back to the stock launcher and then to nova launcher, which is what i'm currently using.
i did like the go widgets that were offered, but didn't like the app scaling button that was added since it wasn't natively made for tablet resolutions.
is that still there? i'd give it a whirl again if it was gone now.
Hmm, I've always used ADW specifically because it improved by phone's battery life drastically.
I can't say the same for my tablet because I didn't install ADW on the Prime until after ICS, and ICS seems to have increased battery consumption.
No difference for me. Still getting 13-20 hrs of use with Go laucher. I use it on my EVO I'm gettin a full day.

how to disable the dock in go launcher?
it's stuck on the left side of the screen and appdrawer remains phone oriented.

i just made all the shortcuts invisible, couldn't find a way to disable it completely.
also, i think if you make the orientation fixed to landscape the drawer works right...
Can sm1 get go launcher prime fr free?
Since most launchers are geared towards phones instead of tablets i was wondering what launche rs work well with the prime?
Stock launcher seems very laggy on the home screen, any fixes for this?
NOVA/Trebuchet and I've also heard ADW and SPB although SPB cost is a little on the insanely high side.

I've used adw ex and it was pretty good but doesn't work nicely with wizz widget. Very laggy scrolling in Facebook and twitter Widgets.
I don't have any lag with stock launcher if I set to normal mode(3rd icon in power management options)

i use Nova launcher, works great with root access and the only few problems I had with it were fixed in the last two updates (less than a week apart)
my main problem with the stock launcher is that with all my icons (like, close to 30 total) switching between screens laggs dramatically. to the point where switching is not smooth at all. I have continiously checked running processes to see whats eating my processor, nothing extra aside from the basic that i can see.... if anyone has ideas why my stock launcher is lagging please let me know :/
Looking for opinions and advice here.
I'm currently running the stock TW launcher. I would like to use a custom launcher, but my experience is that every time I do, I get a bad battery drain. Most recently, I put Go Launcher on my Skyrocket and it resulted in an extra 3-5% drain/hour. I have used most of the launchers on the market at one time or another and I have a premium license for Launcher Pro.
Anyone running a custom launcher? If so, have you noticed any extra battery drain? Any recommendation for one that works best on the Note? I'm afraid to try Go again, since this phone is pretty much the same hardware as my Skyrocket and I'm sure the battery drain will be the same.
Its going to be hard to estimate battery drain for the first few days. I'm using ADW Laucher Ex, and it seems to have improved performance a notch.
I use Go Launcher EX exclusivly....so many cutomization options and i have never had any lag or issues. The themes are endless.

Yeah, I'm familiar with Go Launcher and I like it. The problem is, every Samsung phone I have installed it on started having a noticeable battery drain. I tested it on the GS2 and Skyrocket. I confirmed that the drain went away as soon as I uninstalled it. Since the Note is basically a bigger Skyrocket, I'm almost positive I'll get the same results.
Ive always used launcher pro on all my devices, better performance, and never noticed any extra battery drain. If u try it, go into settings and make this change. Preferences/ Advanced/Memory Usage Settings/ Homescreen Cache Type/ Light. Without doing this, the home screen transitions were very laggy.

I like a very minimalistic phone, so I prefer Zeam launcher. Its very basic and easy to use.
Here's another one that works pretty well. Home screen works only in portrait mode though.

My first impression
After using the phone for about 2 full days now I can say that I am sticking to the default TW Launcher for now. I tried Launcher Pro, Go Launcher EX, ADW EX, and found that none of them run as smooth as the default launcher. There is a thread in the International Galaxy Note section about this as well. I actually like the TW launcher so I don't mind it.

Yes. My experience is: Its fun for about 10 minutes. Doesnt have enough integrated widgets and is otherwise slow and after a short while; annoying. I prefer GoLauncher or Native TW
Go Launcher is the only one I fool with anymore... it's got good performance and easily change anything on it.

I love GoLauncher but I have to agree, it really drains the battery fast.
VTL launcher might be nice but it costs $3.00. Do not want to pay for a launcher before I try it.
I have been trying the stock launcher but the killer for me is I can't change the dock icons (I don't think) If someone can tell me how to do this that would be great!

Go Launcher EX lags when scrolling home screens for me, where as the default touchwiz launcher doesn't. Which is too bad, because I'd really like to use GO Launcher... especially for the scrollable/resizable widget support. I might give ADW EX/Launcher Pro another go, I purchased both a while back.

Hello xda members!
Well I saw many threads about most popular launchers, about battery tweaks about ROMs and about kernels.
I believe all of us are trying to make the battery of our beloved Samsung Galaxy S II last longer. Some of us we are tweaking the kernels and/or flashing new ROMs all the time and/or changing to a bigger battery.Well I was wondering myself about launchers.Which launcher should we choose...
So I came up with 3 (at the moment) questions.
All the launchers consumes the same battery and RAM?.And If not,
1st...as the title says, which launcher is consuming less battery?
and 2nd which Launcher consumes less RAM?
This thread is about comparing and sharing our experience and our results.
Of course every device is different.
Thanks anyway guys.

Whatever the stock launcher is for the rom you're using (Touchwiz for stock, Trebuchet for CM9, etc, etc). Any other launcher you use will be effectively run over the top of that, and naturally carry some kind of battery penalty compared with using the stock launcher.

You'll still have system processes associated with the stock launcher running. There's no way around that. And obsessing about every last 0.0001% of battery drain becomes exactly that. Enjoy your phone, and use whatever launcher has the features you want (and get a bigger/more batteries)

I tried Go Launcher EX and its my personal favorite launcher, however that consumed a lot of power for me, so now i am using apex launcher which seems to a little less than Go Launcher EX however i would definitely say stock launcher uses the least battery.
What i wanted to know was, if you decide to integrate a third party launcher into the ROM as a system app via titanium backup for example, and then freezing the stock launcher, would this consume less power as then it will be running from the system ROM rather than internal/external sd? any thoughts on that?
I find Nova Launcher doesn't use much battery when i check the battery stats
I see many of you have different opinions...Well here are mine
I've tried Touchwiz, for some reason is not working properly. :/
I've tried Zeam Launcher which I liked it best but also for some reason made my phone runs more slower which I guess it means that consumes more RAM.
I've also tried ADW Launcher which is good(for my opinion) but I had some problems with freezing sometimes.
Xperia Home Launcher is the one that I found that is running always smoothly,at least to my device, never freezing and about the battery...says 3% after 2 days and 7 hours of normal using the phone without charging(If anyone wants my ex tweaks settings let me know).
