Need little help with purchase (HTC HD2) - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm ready to buy new HTC HD2, but i have a questions.
How to recognize an original Htc Hd2. I afraid that i'll buy clone.
What i should know before i go to shop or make a transaction through intenet.
Help me, please.

Where are your buying from (eBay, CL, other)?

Through internet, you will always take chances. Watch for the vendor's reputation before you close the deal.
If you're going to shop in person, then I suggest you to take someone who's owned an HD2 with you to help you out.

i budgeted to pay more so i could buy from a large reputable seller so i could make sure i was not buying some dodgey grey import, first choice was amazon but they where out of stock at the tie so bought from play.com instead

I prefer eBay...i think. I'm living in uk. I heard that there are some differents beetwen htc unbranded, o2, vodafone, etc. is that true ? if yes which one will be the best to buy?

I was thinking the same mate... it's the best way i think.

eBay is generally safe, as long as you use your common sense. There are some reputable sellers (bu sure to check their feedback, including the rare negatives they got), and eBay itself has a working claim resolution (although people recommend using PayPal's instead of eBay's - they're the same company but PayPal CS might be better).
Also make sure you read the conditions of the phones, included accessories, any defects if exists, and seller return policies. And one more thing: there are many HD2s sold as broken. They're clearly labeled so, just make sure you don't buy one.
(I personally bought mine last week from eBay, and it's very clean. Of course I had to pay slightly more).
However I don't know which version is the best for UK. I'm in US right now, and TMOUS version was the best for me. I think you cannot make use of 3G in Europe with this model because of radio chip differences, however it has more storage - 1GB, and I'm already a TMOUS customer. (Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong).

where to buy!

so where can get get one that works in the US?
Non works with US 3G yet
ebay or import one, only work on edge until north american version is released and even then it only has ATT 3G bands if that is important to you
T-Mobile USA
Simple question guys. I think the answer is 'yes' but I want to verify this with people w/ more experience.
Does the UK version of the Hero work w/ T-Mobile USA data network?
I'd like to get the Hero but it would be a waste of money if it doesn't work w/ my provider.
Sorry guys...found the answer on another thread
noob mistake
How trustworthy does this seller look to you guys?
http://mobilegadgetsonline.com/HTC/HTC-Hero-Android-White-Smartphone-Unlocked-p6.html
It's cheaper than handtec, which is the best value I've found..
$400?! that's suspicious .. everyone else has it starting from $634
refurbished? it says new ..
the store has zero rating in google shopping
ohhh, now i see why, i'm sure they messed up the currency sign, hero costs 400 british pounds
That's possible.. but everything else on the site is also in dollars and relatively cheap compared to other places.
I guess it is too suspicious though, I'm not going to touch that one.
thinking about buying from mobilegadgetsonline.com
if anyone out there HAS bought from there i would appreciate a quick note about it.
i am thinking of buying from there as they are CHEAP!! CHEAP !! CHEAP!
but as some of you, i am skeptical as well.
they say that they are a new store, with new goods....
trying to obtain a sound customer base.
they also stated that the promo prices (which are fantastic) end on July 31st.
hmmm, what to do, what to do?!?!?!?!?
if its to cheap.....
the alarm bells would be ringing for me
do your homework before you buy.
I would not deal with any company that does not have a land line phone number to call. Not that it makes a difference.
No Whois information either - I know for dot com it not needed, but hay. BEWARE
THATS A SCAM i recently purchased a hero from them and got an email saying ur order can not be prossesed because our credit card processors are down and you must send cash or money order your credit card was not charged
JerryBarcenas, which site did you buy it from so we can know where not to get it.
I'm waiting for the hero to come to the us and will hopefully get my unlocked hero by october/november
that mobilegadgetsonline is a scam however the next cheapest i found was integrontechnologies.com its 599 free shipping and has google checkout ill try them next if not ill just got to expansys i trust them
Thanks for the info, Jerry.
I guess I would recommend everyone to buy from expansys if they wanted to be safe.

[Q] Looking to buy in germany, need assistance

During the upcoming week my sister is going to be in Berlin.
I was hoping that she could bring me back a nice little S2, however i don't want to send her searching all over the city.
Do you know of any store (physical, even better) that holds the Galaxy S2 (SIM Free!) in Berlin?
She's flying over on Monday, hope i can find something suitable by then.
Thanks to whoever tries to help.
Im not living in berlin, but she should try it in a store called media markt. they sell the gs2 but i cant tell you if they will have it there when she is in berlin. and a little advice. i think your sister is able to speak and read german right? if so then tell her to do this what im gonna tell you now. before she buys the gs2 in media markt, tell her to check the price at amazon.de!!! if the price at amazon.de is cheaper than in media markt, she can tell the employee the price from amazon.de because in most cases they sell the gs2 for the price from amazon.de!!! that way you can get it a bit cheaper!!! i hope i could help you a bit.
that's actually a lot of help, seeing how i don't know any german retail chains that's fantastic.
sadly, she doesn't know any german at all, though i think comparing prices with amazon.de should be fine.
however, the (w-ww.amazon.de/gp/product/B004XBQ9HK/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=ce-de&psc=1) galaxy s2 on amazon.de has two versions, one's regular, and one's "import" - any idea what that means?
also, currently the (w-ww.mediamarkt.de/angebot/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s-ii) price on mediamarkt seems cheaper (or, very close after taxes) however, i don't know if that's sim free or not, and also if that "import" thing has any relations to it...
if anyone can shed any light on the matter, i'd be most grateful.
on a side note, does anyone have any idea if this version does NFC or not?
U might whant to check cyberport.de, too. That's where I bought mine for 550€. They have stores at Stadtmitte and Walther-Schreiber Platz.
Good luck
I am from Austria and i think i can help you in this matter.
The 'import' on amazon.de means that those phones are from the UK. I would buy it at one of the mediamarkts. They are really popular here in austria and germany. I guess there are at least four or five of them in Berlin. She could alternatively try it at the retailchain Saturn. They are very similiar to the mediamarkts, but i think the phone is in stock everywhere.
Good Luck!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Supermult said it all. If its simfree your sister can ask the staff there. They should be able to understand her
Btw we have no NFC here.
if you want to compare prices in germany's online stores, you should use www.gh.de imho one of the best platforms (despite the comments of the users there ...) here is the SGS2 link: http://gh.de/a615532.html
as for retail stores, the price you posted in Media Markt is definitly worth buying it, unless it's unlocked/unbranded and doesn't come with any contract.
Not to be mean but your sister should be aware that mostly (!!) the employees at Media Markt are a bunch of morons, so she should be well informed what she wants and don't ask them for advice.
Other stores she could try would be:
- Saturn (same as Media Markt) should be the same price as Media Markt
- cyberport (adress: Store Berlin-Steglitz, Walther-Schreiber-Platz 1, D-12161 Berlin) price between 545 and 569 euros
- ATELCO (adress: Filiale Berlin-Wedding, Oudenader Straße 16, D-13347 Berlin-Wedding) price around 566 euros
import means it's the european version (XEU) which is hard to get atm here in germany. Almost all devices are DBT (german retail). Just make sure it's unlocked and unbranded.
if you have any more questions feel free to pm me.
PS: I don't live in Berlin, so I can't help you with exact information.

[Q] Sony ZU C6833 from Ebay???

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a cheap deal for the phone for Christmas. After checking the usual mobile network deals I'm not convinced to pay £38/ month for 2 years.
Instead I saw new phones on ebay for £370 from a trusted seller.
Phones come from "outside UK" warehouse(I'm located in the UK) with 2 pin plug. I wonder if these are dodgy deals, or worth trying it?
The seller itself is providing the warranty for one year and they have very good feedback.
Here is one : LINK
I simply could not find a cheaper one around. DO you think I could go ahead with the buy?

e_cell has absolutely no warranty on the phone. I asked them previously and here is the answer:
"Dear soniboy84,
We appreciated your email and thank you for showing interest with our item.
Please be advised that this item is sold without warranty, express or implied. Should you want to avail of a warranty for your item, you may purchase one separately from SquareTrade.
Should you have any other inquiries, please contact us again.

Hmmm, I'm probably in the minority here but I'd beware. Their shipping them in from China and for that price I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're clones. They do have good feedback, but I just don't see how they could possibly sell the real article that cheap without it being dodgy. My guess is if you were able to get it on a network, it would get locked soon after. The other reason I think it's unsafe is that the warranty is with themselves, not an official Sony warranty, which basically means there isn't one.
I'd steer clear.

Thanks for the feedback, that's what I'm looking for.
I'm about 50-50% and I need some more either negative or positive feedback about it to decide.
The problem is that the next phone up on ebay is £419 which is quite high :S
I want to stay on 3 network, so most online phone shops(carphone, mobiles, etc) is out

They're the same. Everything comes from China to the UK, then they post via Royal mail from the UK.
Pretty sure we can wipe our butt with the warranty!

buying it in ebay from south korea

Hey all ,
I want to buy this watch and I noticed many sells on eBay from south korea.
watch has a very good price and according to the list it should work fine in my country as far as bands.
also asked the seller if I'll get FOTA updates and he said that yeah.
so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help
On the side of pessimistic, I'm always very careful about ordering anything from overseas. Mainly cuz what if something goes wrong???
Once i ordered a fairly expensive HD IP Cam from Asia, and when it arrived it was clearly a fake. The worse case I know of, is a co-worker that ordered an Galaxy
S5 from Korea at a great price.
After a few weeks, weird things began happening.
By utilizing a few sites that specialize in spotting fakes, he would've never been able to tell that he got taken and bought a cheap clone. And the kicker of this story, the fine print in the con's listing forced ebay to rule in his favor.
So overall, try to order products from US vendors and be sure to read the description in its entirety.
Sorta like the guy that bought a picture of a gold iPhone for big $$$, cuz he didn't read (or maybe doesn't know how).
Good luck!!!

I think that for hige-end devices such as this it would be very easy to spot a fake product , for example , curved screen is not something that every manufacturer can make.
and as you said , ebay buyer protection plan can always save you.
in addition there's the whole feedback system that if you know how to work with you can figure within 2-5 minutes of investigation if the seller is reliable or not.
my main concerns are about the version of the watch , will all apps work on it etc.

Don't be so sure on the looks alone. Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/gear-s-150-t3001480
First off. This model won't work in the US.
There are a lot of different versions of the GS... Each for a different segment of the world. I would do some 2G/3G/4G frequency research on the model you're buying and the provider you'll be using it with. Also, make sure it's factory unlocked... Trying to get it unlocked from another country would near impossible.

Don't waste your time and risk your money on eBay. Expansys is already selling the LTE version for $700 including shipping. For another $35, they'll extend the warranty they provide from six to 18 months. (With their warranty, if Sony USA refuses to cover the device, Expansys will return it to the country from which it came, handle the warranty repair for you, and then return it to the USA once more.)

Good luck! All I can tell you is that I bought my HTC One X, my wife's HTC One X+ and my Xperia Z2 from them, and every one was a good experience. The One X+ was the only one where I had any problems at all -- I'd actually ordered a One S, but they couldn't source it and so after waiting a while, they offered me the much better One X+ at well below their retail price.
And for my Xperia Z2, I ordered the phone, two docks and headphones, then they contacted me to let me know I could save money by buying a new, unopened Z2 UK kit that a customer bought and returned without opening, with that specific kit including the headphones I'd bought separately. They actually saved me a good bit by doing so, when they could've just filled the order I had made and got more money out of me...
So yes, three good experiences and I'm very happy with them. Hopefully you will be too! I'm pretty certain once I can afford the Z4 Tablet, I'll be getting it from Expansys, unless somehow Sony USA miraculously sets a reasonable price for the tablet. (Last time around, I paid less to them for the phone, two docks, headphones, extended warranty and expedited shipping than I'd have paid to Sony USA for just the phone by itself.)
We'll see. Here's to hoping. I'm not overly concerned with the timeframe as much as I am just getting it.
Anyone know where I can get the Keyboard seperately? They never released the keyboard for the Z2 Tab Internationally so I'm going to use this. The only one I have found is this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301652441507?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

You're not going to find it for $100 or even anything close to that. The keyboard alone, direct from Sony, costs 15,880 yen in Japan. That's the equivalent of AU$166 in their home market, and you've got to add the cost of international shipping PLUS a profit margin to make it worth their while for any company selling you one as a parallel import. I'd figure $220 is the absolute minimum you're going to find it for anywhere...
I bought at Clove - 482.50 GBP, but it bundles BKB50 Bluetooth Keyboard!
