Hey,
I've debranded my x10 from orange uk to get 2.1....it's working fine but i've noticed some of my orange online services are not working properly(i did expect this anyway).....my question is once orange release thier version of 2.1...can i change back? i've searched the forums and couldn't find an answer.
thanks
maybe one code can help not sure :S
I'd also like to know this since I am unable to send long SMS's on Global Generic 2.1 and would like to see if that is fixed in the Vodafone UK firmware when it's released.

Whats not working properly? I had an Orange UK handsent and debranded to generic UK but all my services are working fine. I know on 1.6 you could reverse debranding using this method. It involved changing the default.prop values.

I think it would be better to pst your question there.
Hope it helps

I was wondering if someone could help explain something to me please? I have searched the forum and googled and not find a clear answer so here goes....
I have rooted my phone, I have also debranded it. I was just in the service menu and having a look and my phone displays the following info;
Model, x10i
Country, united kingdom
Build, r2ba026 generic
Brand, customised
If possible I would like someone to explain by what it means by my brand being customised. I know I have debranded it but id would of thought the phone would display no sim lock or unlocked or generic uk or something like that.
I want to know what has been customised, I hope this makes sence.

Customised is refering to UK I believe. Generic means not tied to an operator. Does that make sense?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
That does make sence but generic just means it doesn't have any operater apps pre built into the software so its a 'clean build' if you like and there is a separete section for counties within the service menu so its not that. Every nation will have generic firmwares, this is what the operaters build on top of and fill it with bloat ware which you don't need.
In the service menu where brand is that should say orange, vodafone, o2, 3, etc, I just don't understand what it means by its a 'customised' brand. Its debranded, does that mean its open to be used by sim cards with different networks like unlocking?
If some could please explain the whole customised thing to me id appriciate it, thanks.

In theory all devices that have customised (read: generic) firmware on will be factory unlocked as you would have bought the device not from an operator.
The sim lock is not affected in anyway by the actual firmware installed - so no in answer to your question just by changing firmware it does not unlock the phone so it can be used with any sim card.
So Rogers X10a Users, did you guys get your update yet? Also does anyone know how to update the X10a to 2.1? Thanks
I plugged my phone to SEUS yesterday night and it said phone was up-to-date

Pretty sure you can just follow what was posted in other threads.
My phone is orginally from rogers but I unlocked it and activated it with Telus. I just followed the steps for the Nordic 2.1.
Rogers is supposedly releasing the official update next week: http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/11/02/s...to-os-2-1-available-the-week-of-november-8th/
That said, why wait?
Video of a Rogers X10a getting upgraded in <10 minutes.
lol i honestly don't see the rush anymore. after reading through all the fails and bugs i'll take my time with my 1.6 to update until more general fixes and stuff get released by sony

Thanks for the response guys. Also I am with goothu99 on this one. When the 020 023 026 firmwares came out in the summer i was one of the first and on the way I hit some bugs and snags here and there. Looks like the 2.1 is solid but i guess i wait a bit more. If not released next week what the heck I just use the global one that's posted.
Looks like Canada is getting the update Nov. 8th.
Rogers sent me a replacement x10, cause mine had something wrong with it... Just got it today, but I'm going to wait till the update comes to use it...fresh start
I'm using the X10i version and it works fine ...
And i hope we will find a Generic version of X10 somewhere as i don't want a version "customized" with Rogers bloatware.

I did the upgrade on my rogers handset here in the GTA and had no issues. rooted and all is well.. calls are perfect, all functions are just great.
I think I'm going to wait it out till next week, and if they don't release by then, I'll use these methods

Rogers 2.1 Upgrade
I don't see it being release in the next week or so.
I just upgrade 2 X10s on Rogers with the Nordic firmware with very little issue.
The issues I did find are APN will NOT setup, it looks like it will download, but it will NOT. The work around is backup the APN's before upgraded, then added internet.com apn address
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
after this, you will have mobile internet access.
Second issue: The mobile backup will not work for the contact list. (you can backup using 1.6 but it will not restore in 2.1)
To backup your phone book, in 1.6 Open the phonebook app. press the left button, select backup contacts (maybe under More)
save them to the memory card.
After you upgrade, do the same thing and click on import contacts
select Memory card, select phone contact. Then your contacts will be restored
I don't recommend restoring the system settings but you can.
Wifi: working
mobile internet: working (after adding internet.com apn)
Camera: working and HD
Phone: working
Speed: MUCH faster
RAM: more available.
ROOT access: still testing.
NORDIC vs GENERIC
Hello,
been doing a lot of reading but i'm not clear on why go with Nordic vs Generic.
I have a Rogers X10a ... should I go with the NORDIC or GENERIC(GLOBAL) 2.1 FW ?
thanks!
Fadi
Just go with the x10a update that will be released tomorrow or monday

Upgraded to 2.1 global version, added rogers apn settings, rooted, used optimizer v2, rerooted and it is ... as the family guy would say ... fricken sweet. Everything is working great. Thanks to all the experts out there for the firmwares and tools.

I tried searching, but the only similar thread I found was one about x10i being used on Wind. Not sure if its the same though...
I'm flying to China and HK next month and was wondering if 3g would work there if I bring over an unlocked x10a. I flashed it to Nordic x10i for the 2.1 update, but I am assuming the bands is a hardware issue.
If it known to not work I'm just going to leave my phone in Canada and bring over another phone.
Thanks!

哈哈,我用中文回答你吧,你这些英文都用什么翻译的阿,牛头不对马嘴,语法都乱七八糟,外国人可能都看不懂,建议你还是会中国的索爱论坛好了,x10a在中国能用的。
Hi all
This is a question that relates to the Orange UK Branded HTC 7 Mozart.
Has anybody with this variant installed the Beta 2 Mango Test Update? If so, can you please say whether or not you still had access to the Orange branded apps, e.g. Orange Maps?
This is something of a deal breaker for me.
Thanks
andrew-in-woking
yes and no
Ok so as a Student, i installed the tools today.
It works perfectly (beta quality of course) on the Mozart.
The orange branding does indeed disapear. However if you have already installed the orange apps before upgrading they will not delete themselves.
Hope this helps!
Edit: actually it keeps Orange UK orange colour as a theme. All i can see that is still there!
Edit 2: weird restarted and orange selects are back! but like the htc apps can't be accessed. However search for them manually and they work fine.
So i think you are safe
Hi,
I just got my docomo SIM with unlimited data plan.
But somehow i and the guy from the docomo shop couldn't get the data to work. APN is set to spmode.ne.jp
Here are my info:
Galaxy s2 international version.
CyanogenMod7
Maybe someone has some idea why it doesn't work?
Ask question in Cyanogen forum .
jje
This question was there already asked but not answered.
Anyways, i reverted back to stock rom and the problem persits. So it's not a problem of cm.
Is it possible that the s2 doesn't work in japan? In detail, that data doesn't work? Calls work very well.
If someone got the german/international version to work with data in japan please tell me.
Hi,
I bought my galaxys2 in France and unlocked it. It is now potentially possible to use it with any carrier (and I tested it with two other french carriers)
However, I am going to Japan for my job for at least a few years and since my phone is only a few month old, I'd like to keep on using it in Japan.
It is my understanding that if in "about phone" setting window the phone version is "GT-I9000", it means that I have the "international version" of the phone.
Is that right ?
If so, will it work with any japanese carrier (docomo, au, softbank...) ?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this because it is quite hard to find answers about this issue...
