Sorry the nobbness of my question, but i really cant get it...
I have the x10 mini phone, i have rooted it with Exploid method (by the way, i still can get the list command to work, and neither uninstall aplication, if you want to help me with that too), im from Chile, and have an Entel pcs "account".
When i conect the phone to pc companion, it says that my phone is allredy upgraded, but it is still version 1.6..
Does it has something to do with me, being in another country, with another mobile company? Or is there a method to upgrade the phone that isnt pc companions one?
Anyway, ill apriciate a lot if yuo guys can help me...
...so thanks!
You need to debrand to a generic rom (Generic UK works for the X10mini) - if you bought your phone from an operator then it'll have a customised version of the rom - Operators will take a while (or never!) to update and release their customised versions of an update. Using the generic rom bypasses this, and you get the software directly from SE without any of the additional operator bloat

Is there anybody who has unbranded your phone by Davinci Team?
If there is, please, can you give me information about it?
I know the system, an app that flashes your mobile with the cable, buying credits to do it.
But i want to know if the unbrand is definetively, I mean, if the phone gets totally unbranded forever (also i unlocked the phone via IMEI). So, if the 2.1 arrives, can i install it via SEUS with any problems?
Thank you!!!
I emailed Davinci Team about if the phone gets totally unbranded for life (about to update via SEUS to 2.1). Also I asked for any risk, and they say:
Hello,
Sure, you can continue to update via SEUS when 2.1 is released for a generic
version. The only risk is the same with any flash, just be sure you are fully
charged and that you don't yank the cable partway through any process and
you'll be safe; the whole process takes about 10 minutes.

So tonite i'm gona try it... it's only 10 euros, I think it's a good price if the unbrand is for life... the newest updates, etc.

I unbradned via Omnius. It was 4.50 euros.
****... I already purchased the credits! hehe thanks anyway!
And... everything went ok? Is your mobile now like a unbranded bought one right now?
I'm gonna flash now, just waiting the phone will be full chargued to do it.
Yes, it went smoothly. In less than 3 min I unbranded Austrian A1 phone into an unbranded generic UK phone. Suerte!
Done! too easy! I flashed the UK/Black ended in .174 there was the .175 from CN... but I prefeer an UK rom, just in case... hehe
I'm sooooo happy !!!
Gracias !!!
Edited: I had the 1.1.A.0.12 because with movistar spain it's not possible to get a newest update (incredible), they blocked the OTA and a lot of things. Now, testing the latest update i have to say that the phone improves A LOT... i mean wifi / 3G connection, and more stuff is improved, so if you have a branded one... unbrand, it's my advice!
I live in New Zealand and have 2 Mini Pros. Both phones are Firmware U20i phones which work on Vodaphone no problem but only partially on Telecom Xt. Telecom XT phones use firmware U20a. Love the phone but I need the rural coverage Telecom XT provides.
I want to convert both phones from U20i to U20a. Phone 1 is from Singapore now updated to Android 2.1. Phone 2 is from Vodaphone N.Z. and has had no updates, its stock Android 1.6
I know there is some doubt as to whether it can be done as it could be a hardware limited also. When phone 1 was inially updated it had full access to the Telecom XT network. After a day or 2 the software seemed to lock it down to inner city use only. I think this is the 21ghz band Telecom use for inner city fill in. So phone 1 is worth a try.
I intend backing up phone 2 useing xrecovery so I can restore should any thing go wrong. It also gives me a simple method to put phone 1 back to 1.6 if needed.
1st question.
Does xrecovery, backup user data includeing apps, android whatever version installed and the phone firmware in this case U20i?
From here on I must admit Im unsure where Im going but Im confident I can get back to where I started should it all turn to custard lol. I seem to have 2 options to rebrand or is that debrand.
This method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777660.
2nd Question.
It seems almost daily, new tools and methods are created and this method is 3 months old. Is it still the best method to use?
The second option is to use xrecovery and load a Rom from a U20a phone.
3rd question.
Where do I get a Telecom XT Rom file from? Or for that matter any other U20a ROM. So far I have only seen U20i modified Roms available.
Im not sure yet about flashtool but its possibly used in congunction with xrecovery
I guess what Im asking is for some reassurance and advice
There seems to be alot of collective knowledge and experience on this forum I cant hope to emulate. Their also seems to be alot of goodwill to helping newbies which Im trying to tap into.
Any advice you can give me before I start I would be gratefull for.
Its hardware limited, sorry. If it wasn't then I wouldn't be using 2degrees on my U20i right now
The only reason why the U20i was working on XT is 'cause you were on the infill 2100mhz fill in....
ive gained quite a bit of experience in the last few days using a number of tools but still no sucess getting service on Telecom XT.
The phone I have is from Singapore. When i initially updated it I had good signal from Telecom XT. i live 50km from the city and it was impossible to have been the infill 21 gig band.
I have tried numerous edits of build.prop again with no success.
Tried aPaullyG's f/w thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777660 who posted a binary from a brazil source but Flash couldnt use it.
What i would like to do for my own peace of mind is to flash a copy of 2.1 f/w from a U20a phone. Any country, doesnt mater.
havent tried xrestore yet but will later in the day but still need a file of genuine 2.1 to exhaust all possibilities.
I have just been given a Telecom work phone, but I am addicted to the Andriod on my X10, which is my personal vodafone mobile. I would love to use my X10 for work but I also have a U20i so it only works in the City with the Telecom sim. If you manage to get your phone converted to a U20a please post some instructions as I would love to do the same.
Hi Purplerust, I have an Xrecovery backup for my Australian X10 mini pro u20a running 2.1 if this is useful to you. Zipped it's 210Mb. Have not installed a cutom rom yet, just figuring everything out, backing up etc etc... Looking forward to getting Cyanogen on there, but am not yet sure what I need to do to get it working at 850MHz for the Telstra NextG network I'm on.
PM me if you want the image -
cheers,
Richard
The problem is hardware based, if you flash a u20i firmware to a u20a your left without 3g you're stuck on edge and the same goes the other way around.
May I ask why couldn't you use apaullyg's file?
As far as installing a custom ROM on top of it you can always flash to the latest version and root/xrec and install owain94's either floyo (currently using) or gigglebread which both work pretty darn good.
Hi everyone
My name is Jose and I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm newbie in Android and need some help. I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a with Android 1.6 and my phone carrier is CLARO Puerto Rico. My question is if somebody could successfully upgrade this phone from version 1.6 to the most recent version available and want to share his knowledge with me. I will appreciate that.
Regards
José Pabón
Try checking out This thread first. That has a lot of information about everything you need to know. Basically, first download the flash tool so you can easily root and install xrecovery.
If you have more questions regarding more specific steps afterwards, let us know.
Help with upgrade
Sony is releasing Gingerbread for the X10 late June or early July. You have to debrand your phone by going to DaVinci Team for $15, and them when the upgrade is available use PC companion.

Problem rooting Xperia X10 android 1.6
First of all i want to thank you for all your responses. Following the instructions in the forum, i downloaded the latest version of Flashtool available (0.6.7.0). After installed in my windows 7 (32 bits) notebook, i run the application and connect the phone. The software recognize the unit and the android version without problems. So i decide and press the root option (The unlocked padlock) and it begin to work. At the end of the process an error message appeared indicating that it can install the busybox software and its stop. The phone is working, but nothing appeared regarding if it root the unit (I think that that no), so when i ran the flashtool utility again, at this time the unlocked padlock is not available. Can anybody help me with that i will appreciate so much.
Hello,
I've been a couple of weeks trying to understand how this all works. I have an Xperia S from Movistar (Spain) unlocked by imei. It is a LT26i serie 1257-5612.
I tryed to update it through SonyMobile, but it just updates de firmware. What about the OS?? I just want to kick out of my device all staff from Movitar and get the virgin ICS ROM running, so what can I do??
Please, I'm just tired of reading and readin thousands of posts with different ways, steps variants and so on. Is there anyone that can tell me what are my choices and exactly what to do?
THANKS!
If your current system does not include anything you need and can't get otherwise, f.e. APN data or something like that, just grab a generic ICS image and flash it with flashtool. For what it's worth, I had the same problem with my german provider and it worked for me.
Sorry, can't link you, am still under 10 posts

Hey guys,
im really desperate about this. I searched for 2 hours but could not find a single firmware from german t-mobile. It doesnt matter which one, of ics or gb. I need the branded firmware for a warranty case. I hope you can help me.
not needed relock bootloader then use pc companion
Firstly thank you but could you be a little more detailed. Is the branded rom flashed when i restore with PC Companion.or what am i supposed to do with the tool? I dont have time to test it now.
Thank you for your replies,
alphaboy
The relock botlooader file you will find in xs development topic with all explication then use pc companian .branded firmware usealy mean some apps from your mobile operator
Nebunia lu Salam
If i restore with PC Companion i will get the stock unbranded firmware, but what i need IS the branded firmware with the startup logo and the apps.
Its about my local t-mobile shop accepting the warranty case. They could deny it if they see the device is unbranded..
Just a ideea relock bootloader and make a bootloop, the rest is up to you to lie them that you have receive an update etc...
