I've installed Nimbuzz on Tattoo and can tell you that the phone works perfectly. I can use chat and also make a phone call without any problems through Skype. It's a great application.

Yes but lately get more crashes every day.
after an update I lost the call button in nimbuz dialpad..anybody experiencing this problem..now I switched back to old version.
Is the version that's out now a beta or what?
Or are they working on the crashes?
Hi,
Does anybody knows a good skype client that works over wifi?
I found one on appbrain. But when installing it could't find the app.
Thanks in advance.

There is also Fringe application. But recently they had to delete Skype support so it's rather a substitute to skype and you cannot connect to skype friends via Fringe.
I found an app which is called Skype(beta).apk and seems to work fine.Is it legal to attach the file to the post?
You can grab a beta at bananalex(dot)com - works great on my Wildfire.. smooth
Skype beta is only for chat, no voip!
Does Nimbuzz work fine?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Nimbuzz works quite well, even if there is lag sometime..
but audio and chattin are ok!
Obvioulsy, it isn't Skype.. but it could be a good 'temporary' replacement!
I found an app which is called truphone and seems to work fine...
Hy all.I have me too nimbuzz on my wildfire because i want to use skipe but i cannot heard anything....i just can respond or call but no sound...i need to do some special settings or something? Please responde via PM because is kind difficult to find againt this threat and i dont have too much time due the university.Tnx a lot and sorry for disturb
I have the same problem as carter. Nimbuzz works, I can dial and call other skype users, but there's either no sound during the call, or there's a severe lag even on wifi. But chatting works great on Nimbuzz.

Anyone else having problems signing in? I put in my details, press sign in, accept the licence agreement and then it says "signing in", then after a few seconds I'm back at the login screen again.

I can sign in alright .. if I place call on speakerphone it is decent but when I put it on my ear something is happening with the proximity sensor and the quality is really bad.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Don't bother, the Skype in the market FC closes all the time.
Also use appbrain to install it, See my guide in General section.

I mean appbrain market sorry
anyway it wont connect, i got connection error and i'm unable to use it
I downloaded it from the normal Android Market. Managed to sign in but it was a bit sluggish. The real problem was trying to exit the app. Apparently the Log Out option is in one of the tabs, My Info I think it was. Whenever I try to press that tab, I get a force close and the app restarts and logs me back in. Ended up having to kill it.
Don't know if I can call or text yet because I uninstalled straight away. Nimbuzz will do fine until they sort it out.
i could log-in via wlan, but skype crashed instantly when i tried to do anything (htc default rom)
Just installed and it's working fine....
Worked fine on OD 4.0.32. Really had no issues with it except the sneaky log out button.. im gonna try it on stock 2.2 and report back..
*edit* sorry my bad.. posted on the wrong forum.. :$

Wildfire - NO
Just installed on Wildfire (via .apk). Screen and graphics looked great, but when clicking on My Info or trying something else, it keeps crashing. Lets hope, that Skype devs will make it work also for this very popular device
Same here. I can login, but clicking on any button crashes the app. Very sad, I was hoping to finally have Skype on my phone.
I wrote a mail to the support, they just answered that the Wilfire isnĀ“t supported at the moment.
So at least there is probability, that it's only "at the moment" and in future, there will be release for small res. phones...
Everything works fine,but i can't make calls.Chatting works fine,info works fine.

How are you able to chat? As soon as I try to, the app crashes. Are you using the app just released by Skype or a different version?
I'm wondering too... my crashed, before i tried to set online statu in My info...
work like charm no crashes so far
On Wildfire? It's interesting...
I downloaded and installed the beta skype apk from rapidshare.I cant make a call from wifi (skype credit only),but everything else works like a charm in my wildfire.I use the original 2.1 wildfire rom with no mods and stuff.
Hi,
According to skype blog, skype for android is available for all android phones with version 2.1 or higher
http://blogs.skype.com/garage/2010/11/skype_101_for_android.html
When I search for skype on the market I don't find it, when I try skype.com/m I get a message saying that my handset is not yet supported. However my X10 has 2.1 Eclair which by all means meet skype requirements. Any idea?
None at all... I installed Skype just fine. Maybe it's a geographical thing?
I'd stick the apk in my dropbox for you, but I can't remember where android stores them, and I can't extract the titanium backup one without the pc (I'm not at home right now).
EDIT: ok, figured out how (they're in /data, not /system) but is it allowed? Since it's a free app there should be no problem, right guys?

I guess so, I know many did put the .apk files here as long as it is free from the developer, we're against piracy
I've tried it as soon ac I updated my phone, but every time I start the app it says that it will not work with my task manager, so took it off

is there any fix for the market to make me able to find skype?
Just search for Skype apk online. That's what I did. You're right in that it doesn't appear in market and Skype's site says it's not available. I had that issue too.
Seems to take longer to sign in after 2.1 but works fine otherwise.
I used Appbrain and installed from my desktop browser using the web installer its so much easier and pushes directly to your phone no opening of market app required. As for Skype i find i like the way it works with the x10 i always have skype set to away on my desktop so when i sign in on my phone its kind of like a remote skype because it doesn't log me out from the desktop application.
Also from what ive noticed the notification sound when someone sends you a message only plays on the last device you logged into, so for example if i am on desktop Skype then later log in on my x10, Skype will mute desktop notifications and the phone notifications will play and vice versa kinda interesting.
In all i like the fact that we can make voice calls just wish we could accept video even though we cant send (no front facing camera, app limitations I'm guessing?). Skype is the whole reason I bought an X10 in the first place. Sorry for the long first post by the way, I just thought id add my two cents and experiences with skype for x10

I recently made the switch from a samsung galaxy s II to the xperia S and one feature i miss the most is having call recording.
now i know that it is usually a hardware issue but i know for a fact that samsung and sony ericsson(now just sony) have never had issues with call recording and never locked it down.
When i got my phone, i went on an app hunt in the market for an app that would record both sides of a phonecall automatically, loud and clear. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find one yet.
does anyone know of an app they have tried and found to work on the xperia s?
bump... i hope someone knows of such an app...
I haven't got my Xperia S yet but once tried "Record My Calls" with my X10 and I remember it worked pretty fine. You can try it or search for other app oout there.

You'll need 2way call recorder patched Kernel and root...!!! In short, use DoomKernel...!!!
GS2 can do that with Total Recall without root. How can Xperia S do so? I have to keep warranty. Thanks

There are many "call recorder"... Which developer's you are using?
Hi, i also cant find any app. Tried at least ten and none works? if someone have found one, link would be welcome!
I'm buy & using CallRecorder v1.2.7 all working properly.
My Xperia S is rooted ICS.
Try it!
I too had an app on my X10 that allowed for 2 way call recordings, I cant recall the name off the top of my head (perhaps it simply was Call Recorder). What I do recall was it had a very simple icon of a red dot on a black background; perhaps that may help someone.
Thanks.

But I do remember that an older version on my Nexus used a lot of battery. Then again, everything on the Nexus did
