Hey,
Updated my phone with the Nordic firmware when it came out and all was well.
today I tried to connect my phone to the laptop with the usb and the title error keeps coming up. I can't do anything pc related with the phone now. The phone LED comes on when plugged in but the menu doesn't show up on the phone.
I havn't changed anything vital... or at all. I factory reset the phone but that hasn't changed anything.
Any help on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Edit again: Tried my phone on a different PC. Still get the error. Whilst my friends X10 runs normally and is recognised on both.

Did your friend use the same cable that you were using when connecting to the pc?
EDIT: Have you tried resetting the phone as well?

tried two different cables.. both of which work with other phone... yet the ony charge with mine... its doing my head in!!!!! i dont even get the USB not recognised error now... it just charges when connected to latptop
The connector on your phone may be damaged, is there anyway you can take a good look at it and compare it with your friends? Try to jiggle the connector when your connecting, or hold it firmly with an angle to ensure connection on the pins.

Hi All,
My x10 has not had any problems for quite some time, but all of a sudden, usb mode will not work (for data transfer). USB debugging still works, but when I plug in my phone to my PC to transfer media for instance, it only charges, and does not recognize it being plugged in via PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me. I flashed my phone to the new AT&T branded FW using flahstool. That went ok, but then I rooted the phone I could no longer connect my phone to my computer.
I've tried to do a factory reset but I still have no luck any help would be awesome.
EDIT: PLayed with the phone and computer for a bit and got it working. Thanks for all the help guys.

I know that many people have issue with connecting SGS2 to PC, and i also know that there are plenty of different solutions on internet, but i wouldn't be writing here if i haven't tried literally almost every possible solution out there. I spent 2 days trying to fix this, but still no result.
PC doesn't recognize that my phone is connected, and on the rare occasions when it does - it just shows me an error with drivers - "Windows can't recognize device" or something like that. Of course i tried numerous times reinstalling drivers, Kies, i tried to connect on 3 different PCs, i bought a new cable today - still nothing (but when other phone is connected with the same cable, its recognized immediately.)
I'm running a custom ROM - XWLSW NeatROM Lite v4.8 (JB 4.1.2), but I flashed this rom several months ago and i didn't have a problem with connection until last month. I also tried several other ROMs, but nothing helped.
I tried to dial *#7284#, then change USB to Modem and then back to PDA, didn't help - the same with *#9090# and setting it to Log via Uart. And of course, USB debugging is off. I'm really desperate, the phone is working fine in any other way, but this is a huge complication for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, could be a problem with the USB port in the phone. I had the same symptoms and turns out the USB port was damaged so i got it replaced (i has warranty)
Also have you tried if ODin recognizes the phone? Go into Download mode and open Odin. If you see yellow (or blue) box with writing "com:" something than you're good. Otherwise it's the first alternative
I tried Odin, still nothing. Well, I hope it's not a problem with phone USB port - i have a warranty, but I bought it on Cyprus.
Is there any other solution?

Hey guys! I was hoping I could figure this out myself, but seeing as I haven't I resulted in asking the community for help!
I have been on here countless times resolving plenty of issues with my phone, but I cannot seem to find the right answer to my problem or problems!
So here it goes!
Okay, so, I have a galaxy S5 Active (G870A) and Windows 10. I am trying to unroot it and start fresh again since everything seems to be messing up with the phone i.e not charging when plugged into wall outlet or computer or car, not wanting to connect to computer etc.
I am currently trying to get it to connect to my computer so I can do what I need to do in order to start clean and fresh again, but for some reason I keep getting "USB device not recognized"
I have tried everything the internet as told me to do. Change usb settings in my power plan. Unplug power supply, turn off computer, plug in USB. Reinstalling drivers etc. It has just started doing this for some odd reason and I have no idea what it is and yes I have put in *#0808# to change the USB settings. I've tried updating my phone (nope), I've tried updating my windows (nope), I've reinstalled my chipset (nope)
Right now, any advice will be very helpful Thank you guys!

Hi guys, can someone explain me why I can't restore original firmware? I've tried a lot of cables and a lot of PCs. I've also tried to reinstall drivers but nothing happens. Every time I connect the phone to the pc I get "Usb not recognized" error. Could it be the connector? Because I'm able to repair it if this is the problem.

Yes I did. I'll change the USB board. I hope to solve this problem.
I've changed the USB board and the PC initially has recognize my phone, but once I pressed START in Odin, the PC didn't respond more to the commands, also the phone didn't display the download status bar. Now, I've seen there are many version of the USB board. The one that was in my phone was the 0.8 version, and the one that I bought was the 0.6. My last test will be to buy the newest version, hoping to restore my phone.
