Hi fellas,
I have recently bought a new HTC HD2 phone and it arrived a few days ago from Hong Kong.
Other than checking IMEI, is there any way to find out if the phone is a fake/replicate one from the phone appearance, etc.?
If I had known there are any fake HTC phones, I would have bough from more reputable retailers. I really didn't think the modern technology of HTC Hd2 can be faked...
Any idea would be appreciated.
If you can upload pictures that would be great. If its from Hong Kong and you bought it on eBay for a super low price its most likely fake. But you can tell if its real when while operating it the phone should feel like a badass piece of equipment. Or compare it to the people who show theirs on YouTube.

Look at the difference between Revisions of the two different parts of the box:
img17.imageshack.us/img17/287/img5655d.jpg ( REV B) look at the red arrow
img571.imageshack.us/img571/5381/img5656m.jpg (REV A ) look at the red arrow
Why they should differ in Revision? Is your phone boxing is the same?

And two pics from from the battery section.

Is the IMEI stickers color inside of your phone is grayish? Or is it white? ( mine is grayish )
img38.imageshack.us/img38/4948/img5659n.jpg
Is the only word on your battery is "HTC"?
Thanks buddy
Our phone boxes are 500% different, when i get home i'll upload a picture of mine for you to see.
As for the phone itself i noticed a few differences b/w yours and mine, (NOTE) phones can get modified by the company and be released in a new batch to fix errors from first release.
But in the picture where the back of your phone was showing, at the bottom left theres a red dot.. On mine it's yellow, at the very top of that theres a white dot, mine is black. Small variations nothing too drastic, but as i said, when i get home (Currently in school) i will edit this post with pictures of mine.
The battery is the same

Thanks mate. But I would delete the last image because all your phone specifications are visible...
Other than the box, our phones are almost similar.
I just tried to upgrade my ROM and received this message: The serial number you’ve provided appears to be invalid. Please try again.
So I am still worried.

If you meant your phone specifications in the images provided, I have heard they can clone your phone using your phone specifications. So I would delete it soon!
So what is your conclusion, real or fake?

So they have the same form factor, same processor, RAM, etc. And it's hard to spot a fake?
How can I know mine is not one (I got mine from eBay as well)?

Sorry to bump, but compare the OS software. Can you do the same as another HD2?
Note that your device might be from a different region.

trust me, if it would be really a fake, the differences would be definitelly bigger.
just to say, mine looks exactly like urs. the battery not, but ur battery is just a newer version than mine my friends got the same...
oh and the box looks like mine too, but i dont know my revision
lets just say, if its a t8585 and runs as it should, and if u can flash custom roms, run android and so on, its real. and i really think its real

Samsung has even updated all the photos of its microsite => Here and There
Well Nice photoshop indeed sammy eh
Personaly I still prefer the "old" one , its slick and minimalist design attracted me more. But hey, not that much of a modification btw the lack of this logo on the front was initially surprising.
I bet that this logo'ed version will be the retail version and that therefore it will be equiped with the final 1.2Ghz processor, that is pure logic from me I have no source
comments... go !

Looks much better without it, but now along with this logo, there will also be another one for the carrier right? Samsung should put their foot down like Apple and tell the carrier to keep their logo off the phone haha.
Bah... it looked sweeter without the logo, but at least I won't get, " Is that an Iphone?"

So you can advertise to everyone and yourself when you're showing off you're phone.
From a business standpoint, this was a smart move. When you have a product people obviously like, you want to put your name on it wherever possible so everytime you see or use it, you can connect it with that company.
Why you all not like it? it look too empty at the front without any logo...

U r right for showing it to others, but im not the classic serbian Iphone or nokia fan that the moment he/she sits somewhere in the club/bar/... puts his/her phone on table to show off.I like minimalistic sleek design so for that for me its better to have blank front like on prototypes(its better ot have x-files front than comercial logo banner front ).Even descret silver is ok,but totaly contrast drechy white is bad design imo.About connecting to company,i always know what im holding so that falls into water from my perspective, and if some1 need proof of company u always have samsung logo on the back so front logo is too much showing of
PS-also meny people in serbia Samsung name connects to home appliances more then with good mobile phones
I just received my GS II (ordered from Amazon US) and found out the sticker inside the battery compartment says "Made in China"!! I was like, what the?? I thought the GS II was supposed to (still) be made in Korea!! The writing on the GS II box and the quick instruction manual are all in Spanish. The warranty card is also in Spanish and seems to be for Venezuela.
Anybody knows if there are any differences (specs, performance, quality, etc.) between the Korean and the Chinese GS II's? I'm afraid mine is a counterfeit/fake unit and is inferior to the Korean GS II's. And worst, there was no factory seal whatsoever (or any kind of seal for that matter) on my GS II packaging!! Should I be worried? Should I just return it to Amazon and get a full refund before I regret it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for rambling. Just being paranoid after shelling out such a chunk of $$$ and receiving something that's not what I'd thought/expected it would be.
Why do you even care? its still a Galaxy S 2
Mine says made in Korea by Samsung.
If yours was a fake surely they'd fake the label too to say made in Korea? Maybe some are made in china. I'd contact amazon if your worried, unlikely they'd sell fakes given the size of the company. Tell them you want a refund anyway cos all the stuff with it is in Spanish and you can't read it

Like I said, it's just me being paranoid. Did some research online and found out some people not being satisfied when they received the non-Korean made GS II.
Actually, it's not that I'm worried about my GS II being a counterfeit one. I'm afraid the Chinese-made ones are inferior to the Korean-made ones (in terms of spec, performance, quality, etc).
Thanks, though. Maybe I'm just worrying for no reason.
The build can be from Korea, China and Brazil, there is a thread about it. And soon they are going to start making them in Argentina, I think this is just assembling...
Mine is made in China as well and came from Chile, the phone is perfect as the SGS2 can be, nothing different other than being made in China.

White areas around the edge of screen?? Will that be the faulty "Yellow Thing"?
I have noticed today that my Sony Xperia S when it the battery level is low (almost 10%) the screen is has white liens along the inner edges of the screen (uneven lines with fainter color).
Now can anyone tell me is it the same problem that you talked about and needs to be replaced by the agent? And will the agent will replace just the screen or the full set?

As per my post in the main screen thread, if you bought it locally bring it back to the shop! I'm 99% sure that Australia will have similar consumer law to the british isles where responsibility is with the retailer. Go to them and tell them "its not fit for purpose" and insist they repair or replace it.
Here actually, I'm bored so:
Summary
A consumer has the right to a remedy if goods or services do not meet a
consumer guarantee.
The consumer guarantees apply to both major (serious) and minor problems.
The type of remedy, and who must provide it, will depend on the problem and
which consumer guarantee was not met.
Gift recipients have the same rights as a consumer who has bought goods directly.
ACL reference: Division 1 of Part 5-4

Click to collapse
What sort of problems do
the consumer guarantees
deal with?
Consumer guarantees apply to both
major and minor failures with goods
and services.
What is a major failure?
A major failure with goods is when:
> a reasonable consumer would not
have bought the goods if they had
known about the problem. For
example, no reasonable consumer
would buy a washing machine if
they knew the motor was going to
burn out after three months

Have a read, if the staff in store see you know your rights they'll be less likely to give you the run around.
I had the same thing on my Xperia S for a day or 2, and then it disappeared...?
(im stuck with a dead pixel though)
I experienced that yellow teint too, but the problem isn't always visible. I think I will take it to the shop where I bought it when I have time.
Does anyone know if Sony has fixed this problem? I contacted a seller on eBay and they said that they have received new stock last week and they assume that it does not have this problem.
Can someone please confirm if the new batches are yellow-tint free?
Has anyone from the UK sent theirs back yet?
I took mine back to the Carphone Warehouse who told me they couldn't replace it, only send it back for repair. Seeing someone post on the previous page saying there won't be new screens until July, I'm apprehensive about sending it back.

One thing I do know, is that HTC would have a huge seller if they would just offer it in more colors such as this one, a green, dark blue, white, yellow, ect... The finish on the back of this device looks very nice in other colors.
guys, i think the thing to remember is that i bet that whole baby blue color scheme is simply like a pre-treated back/buttons etc..they probably just made it all one uniform color, bc i don't think it was like a limited edition or sometihng especially withn the red speaker grills..who knows, maybe the initial color of the material used before its fully treated IS that color blue?
i dont think its a HTC J butterfly not too sure, everything software wise like model number and junk are all the same that i checked to my release version but PRL verison i think or something like that was different in one area and it had a beta serial number.
Here is some pics inside, i guess this ones small board has a possible slot or area the SD card reader would go but who knows if its for that or not. You can compare with pictures of the release version board in my thread on droidforums.
Also as far as the color goes, i think they test out different colors before they choose which they want, same with many other prototype phones, always different themes or colors. This color looks to be the same color on the windows 8x htc phone which is limited edition for employees. The back is the same feel as release models are so yep. I will have the HTC J Butterfly in a few days and i will take it apart and post pics of the inside of that one also.

Hello.
I bought my P9000 a while ago and today, my friend bought it, too. We both have same custom ROMs on them, and I tried to compare them with max brightness. His phone has much more vivid colors and is brighter, too. The mira vision settings are the same. What could this be?

Where? I only thought the MiraVision plays the role (which was set the same)... I even clean flashed the ROM, but no change.
Sorry I don't really know.maybe you could exchange it
Anyone got any ideas? The problem still persists... Unfortunately, I cannot exchange it.
could you provide the [email protected] i want to see if i have the problem
On the pictures I can clearly see 2 differences: camera and display border. The left phone has a slightly thinner border.
To me it seems like the phones are different variants. There is the "P9000" and the "P9000 lite" which has a slightly bigger border, no fingerprint, etc.
Check here if you want to see all the differences: http://www.gizchina.com/2016/03/03/elephone-run-differences-p9000l-p9000-lite/
If the phones are both the genuine P9000 and not the lite variant I'd like to know which phone was purchased at which date, because I eventually want a second P9000 and don't want to have crippled version of it!
I bought a new screen. I got this message from the seller:
"Hi, Friend,
nice day.
just kindly remider for you.
there are two factory produce the original new lcd screen for Elephone P9000,
1. reference number: 13756-FPC-A-A284-
2. reference number: TFT5K1856FPC-A1-E
we not sure which reference number send for your order due to we have both above two from ELEPHONE.
if the screen shows no image when you install but back light up, do not worry, it is not the screen problems. we got the date from ELEPHONE COMPANY to make it works great.
the mobile will NOT have any risk to lost any date for personel.
so if you have above problems, just contact us and leave your email, we will send 2 emails to help you make it works great. one for documents, and one for steps how to do.
if it is no problems, you can ignore this message."

Thanks. That must be it, then. Too bad, that they differ so much in quality. Kind of disappointed, to be honest. But okay, cannot complain much over a 200€ phone, though. For this price range, it's great.

Sorry for the late reply. They were bought about 2 months apart, the dimmer one was bought earlier. And they are from the same dealer on ebay.
Which LCD Model has been used
Service code *#*#33#*#* Single Test - RF test lcm : ?????
This is interesting, thank you for postin OP.
My only 2 issues with this phone are 1) The max brightness in sunlight of the screen and 2) The internal speaker ,, Is there a Google App that can read the LCD manufacturer information? I tried AIDA64 and Android HW Info but they couldn't say it. I bought my P9000 in the first release month.

Hey, sorry for late reply... Did the test, and it is 13752 model. I googled that and somebody at german forum said it has low saturation and brightess, too....
EDIT: LOL! I see that you posted that there, haha. Yeah, this is probably a ****ty panel. I will ask my friend to do the same.
EDIT 2: He has a different model... 71067. Can we do something about this? I mean, how can a company gives a ****ty pannel to some, and a nice one to others?
Contacted elephone. They wrote:
"Hello,
Thanks for you information,
I have confirmed for you, may because they are from different batch.
Best regards,
Teresa"
After that, silence. I asked them how can they give such lower quality to some, and much better to others.

Hello.
I bought my P9000 a while ago and today, my friend bought it, too. We both have same custom ROMs on them, and I tried to compare them with max brightness. His phone has much more vivid colors and is brighter, too. The mira vision settings are the same. What could this be?
