I have Adfree installed, but it doesn't seem to work as advertised. I have VISIONary running, of course, but I'm seeing ads where no ad has gone before. Is there a fix for this?
I was wondering the same thing. I don't think adfree works at all

If you have full root s-off, adfree works perfectly fine.
Do you need s-off? If so why?
I have perm-root but didnt do s-off. I still have ads everywhere, even in popular apps like angry birds.

I have s-off, full root, still seeing ads. I'll clear cache, that may help.
No change, still seeing ads in apps I don't see them on my Nexus.

That did the trick. Thank you, sir. Uninstalled adfree and reinstalled it, and my Mytouch is blissfully ignorant of Google's attempts to sell me items.

Thanks for reminding me to reinstall this on my mytouch! I forgot to do so after returning my g2 with a super loose keyboard...
I don't use adfree, but I have a host file that blocks ads if anyone wants it just send me a pm. It might even have been from adfree at one point, but at least this way you don't need an adfree process running. Just replace your host file with the modified one and you are good.
I deleted and reinstalled adfree and i still get ads on angry birds... Im using visionary and have NOT PERM ROOTED ..... ideas?

I was having issues with Ads, even with perm root and s=off
had to uninstall and reinstall adfree
On certain apps (App brain I believe), instead of ads it has a block of white space in its place. Is that suppose to happen?
If that's the case, than I rather have ads.
Well, if s off is needed to get it to work fully, how do I get that to work? I've perm rooted the phone, but can't seem to get s-off. anyone who can help get this done, id be more than willing to donate to.

+1 for ad-free...BUT with the release of the paid versions of Angry Birds it's not as important as it was to me, but still great for being able to put the Flash add-on to "always on" and not have to worry about Flash ads in the browser.

Anyone had trouble getting titanium backup to work? I granted it su permissions but it says 'Failed' to acquire root when the app starts.

It's an issue with superuser and the new version of sense. There's a fix for it somewhere here, I saw the link last night in the developer subforum

Very true, although I kinda hate killing ads in free apps. I prefer paid versions so we can be ad free and support the developer at the same time.. Angry Birds was an exception because I always get distracted by the darn ads being in the same area as the target.

You also need to be sure you are using the latest version of busybox for TitaniumBackUP....select the problems tab. Should give you the option to update busybox.

Very sure I am rooted ( Ti Backup works just fine and I can use su in terminal). I have even uninstalled adfree and reinstalled with no luck. Hell, I even tried replacing the hosts file manually with a list that's kicking around on the forums. Still nothing. Just for ****s and giggles, I am re-downloading it right now. Its been a few weeks, maybe it'll work
No dice. Symlink is unchecked. Cleaning the cache now and will try again.
edit: still no luck. To be honest, its only my weathereye app that I'd really like to see the ads disappear from. I'd like to tear apart the apk and find the source of the problem, but I have never attempted something like that !
Guys I badly need help with this!
For those that got this to work what did you use? (Which Root method, and anything special done inside the app? I do have Symlink unchecked)
Specifically any Bell Users, how did you guys get this working? HELP!...

I'm completely rooted, and have done this exactly like I have on my Milestone and SGS.
Is there a way to get this going manually, since this app doesn't appear to work on the (Bell) Atrix?... Thanks!
Didn't you already post this in another thread ??
It's weird, when I installed GreyBlur when I first got my phone, the adblocking built in to it worked and I never saw any ads anywhere (It does the same thing as adFree I believe, so it's comparable...) but then a little later I reverted to a backup for some reason, so no adblocking naturally. And when I installed GB3.5 (now I'm on 4.5) I haven't been able to block ads at all since, either with just GB or with AdFree.
Until yesterday ADFREE was blocking all ads. After the upgrade stopped. The ads are appearing as if nothing block then.
This occurs in both wifi and 3G (Tim - Brazil)
Any solution ?
Tks !!
Edit:
I managed to make it work:
- Uninstall, reboot and install again
- Clear data from applications that have ads
- Restart if necessary
work that way here.
This thread seems to work for some: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122086
We all know that we can use titanium with the temp root. Have anyone tried any other apps that require root? We can post them up here if they work or not that way people can know what they can and can't use. Just thought it would give us something to do whiles we wait for s-off but at the same time it can be helpful to other people.
P.S. Sorry is someone posted a tried like this.....

Anyone tried msl reader? It should work on most HTC Devices...maybe this would be easier for getting the msl?
tried several
ROM MANAGER works, but needs reboot after fix permissions.
I used it to partition my SD card which you need to run ADFREE
After you use it and re-boot you need to blow out superuser because it will fc (force close)
Re-root using Jeremy's Fre3dom busybox all in one works best and fastest for me..
Thus ADFREE for Android
Obviously ROOT EXPLORER and TITANIUM
ROOT MANAGER to remove bloat but again, you need to reboot after removing bloat... Back to Jeremy
WIRELESS TETHER needs a special kernel, (netflitered) It's not a root problem.

Not sure that it matters as blockbuster app says it detects a modified phone when you are rooted anyhow. bit it won't install on mine either. It says that the shared library is missing.
