Up voicemail box - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a co-worker with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, and he was wondering if there was any way to change his voivemail box limit from 10, to any bigger number.
Told him i wasn't sure if it was possible but that i would consult the greatest minds i have access to.
Thanks for all of your help in advanced.

Decent phone software out there?

Hello Peeps
v. v. hassled by standard Phone software that packs with the XDA.
Anyone suggest a better option? One that can allow me to transfer received numbers easily into Contacts, or better ,allow me to make a call using a number that I've received as an SMS - just like I can on my trusty Nokia? BTW I'm a non-phone techie kind a bloke so steady on the old terminology, ta

Sony ericsson android boot loader unlock!:-D

sadly, only for NEW xperia phones.
For earlier products such as the Xperia™ X10, we cannot allow the boot loader to be unlocked due to technical and legal reasons.

I truly believe most smartphone makers have missed the boat. They have chosen not to harness the power of community.
Nokia tried with the maemo community and the n900 phone. They just screwed it up so bad they managed to alienate their passionate developers and users.
Seriously: shouldn't ericsson be handing out prizes to the best devolopers? Hire them? Buy their ROM and use as a basis of their own updates? It would be faster and they would get community support.
I would be sponsoring the forum and be offering technical support as needed if I was running SE.
It is a bit crazy. most companies would kill for the passion people show here.

i think they forgot how they locked it
Hi guys i posted a thread on the sonyericsson facebook page jere is the content:
Why have you stopped updating a phone that has not even been out for 12 months, instead of updating our phones or unlocking the bootloader but doing it for your new models stinks its only because you got enough complaints from x10 users that you finally caved in to public demand and decided to implement 2.3 and multitouch
The x10 mini pro has a multitouch capable screen more so than the x8 or x10 , it is also a newer phone than the x10 but you say you have no plans to add these to the mini pro there are many reasons to update the phone apps2sd,jit,security and bug fixes that the users of this phone are asking for.
How can you continue to tell your paying customers what they want instead of listening to them and implementing the changes that are viable and in the case of apps2sd are pretty much required when you use more than a few apps the phones memory is not sufficient.
The lack of transparency in your updates and how your taking on board our feedback needs to be more than'' ill pass that on to the developers'' as a person who has worked in the mobile industry in the uk for 5 years and been a user of sony ericsson phones from the t68 and before the merge zg5 i i have become very disillussioned with your phones and company so much to the point that i will not buy or recommend another sony ericsson phone with this type poor customer service.
One of the main things i learnt in the customer service side of my job was to take ownership of a customers problems and not pass the buck which is what you seem to be doing everytime someone has requested that you make an update available had i not have had these issues i would have bought the xperia play(i know the bootlader for this phone is unlocked but will void the warranty) but with your poor form recently i dont think ill be buying another one of your companys phones due to:
poor amount of updates for the software
poor response and lack of response to customer feedback
poor battery life
lack of internal storage due to lack off apps to sd
lack of jit
that awful sony ericsson blue theme that cant be changed
the charging issue that means i cant turn the phone on but the led flashed red for some amount of time
Will you at least update this phone to 2.3 and not fob your customers off with buck passing responses as it think it is the minimum required from your company for a phone that is less than 12 months old
Here is the address, http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=35313373389&topic=24567
i dont really expect anything to come from this but i figure the more people that complain or add comments to this would be appreciated to highlight our frustrations
this is more to do with the fact that we are relying on the awesome owain to do this and seen the despair when he got rid of his mini pro it was almost as if the whole reason ive kept my mini pro til now had gone, now he has another im releived
but this doesnt change the fact that we the x10 mini pro users are relying on a 16 year old guy from holland to make our phones work the way they should have done from day one and continue to be updated for at least 12 months from the date of release the main fact is the phone is <12 months old and not being supported
Owain94, I think you're right))
Send from my Xperia X10 mini using XDA premium app
Thanks guys for posting on se but can we keep it mostly constructive don't want to scare sony off before we get a reply.
I know they suck donkey balls buck we might get less chance of a reply after this we should start a topic there to get owain a job from them he's more brains than their whole team

go to www.x10unlocked.com and download software.
you might be lucky if one acc. is not used

is there a method to unlock the damned phone ?
i'm not sure if i can post the website's url, but i used htccode (if you do a search for that and x10, you'll come across the forum with instructions).
however, their prices are now a boggling 50$ to unlock.
if i was in your shoes, i would try to find out 100% who the phone is locked to (I don't know how besides trying multiple sims) and call up their customer service to get the unlock code. i think the most expensive it could be is if it was locked to orange France (where i think the unlock is 25 euros)

How can i fake it? (rebranding a phone)

Hi guys,
The company i work in allows only Samsung phones - which is ridiculous since it's all android.
I have Xperia P and i want to use it as a company phone (to have access to email etc) - i do not want to continue using Samsung!
They gave me the S3 mini...
Is there a way so i can make my XP look like it's S3 mini? What would need to be changed? How would i do it?
There is no special software involved for company emails, only Mobile iron & Touchdown apps which are both on the play store.
This would really help me in the long run! Some day i want to upgrade to Xperia Z1 Compact and not use Samsung...

Unauthorized tampering with company stuff is going to get you fired. Running a rooted phone is probably going to get you fired as well.
Try to talk with someone with authority and ask them to explain why this is in effect and if they can't make exceptions.
That said, you cannot change physical appearence. Hardware won't fit, it never does. The fun fact is that both phones have very similar specs, and they both use a Novathor SoC.
The software is easier to fool. Android reads the phone name and manufacturer from the build.prop in /system/
As long as you change only the name and not the actual hardware settings in that file, it should work ok. Make backups before doing this.
And let me repeat it, if someone with authority catches you using a non-approved phone to do company stuff, you will likely get fired.
Hey, thanks for your answer!
Maybe i did not make myself clear...i was never thinking of changing the appearence of the phone. Only the software.
I'm working in this company for many years...don't worry about me, but thanks for the warnings.
Unfortunately, the official answer is - the software is not compatible. Anyone with some brains can tell that is BS but ok.
It's a big company, nobody will check my phone, but when i connect they will see which brand it is, so that's the only thing i have to change.
I found this so i'll give it a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948558
yeah, that guide does what I was talking about in my post.
Changing phone brand and manufacturer affects Play Store as well. (Play store does limit available apps depending on phone model). In your case you probably won't be able to download sony-only apps (which is no big loss if you ask me).
In the past people changed build.prop to disguise random devices as Nexus 7 tablets so they could download all possible apps for their Android version.
Btw, if you manage to sidestep their "security measures" with a build.prop edit, their security department isn't worth a dime.
For their own good, I hope that they did enact a more serious security system to lock out non-company phones.
Well i will still use the company SIM card. We have no access to any of the company systems through the phone, only the emails.
Nobody can install Mobile Iron settings if they don't connect to the correct server and provide a PIN (which i have) to install all neccessary certificates etc.
We'll see what happens, i might just try it to see if it works, then decide if i'll use it or not.
Thanks
Change it in the build.prop, you're modifying your own device not the companies.
The phones are almost the same though anyway:

Why dont you just use the samsung? It has better battery by the way :good:

Remove Screen Lock pattern on Sony Xperia Z2

Hello,
First of all I am sorry if I am asking in the wrong forum, but I am new here.
I recently bought a new Sony Xperia Z2. My daughter was so excited about it and while exploring the phone she accidentally set a pattern that she cannot remember.
I went back to the seller asking for a solution but she told me that I have to change the motherboard completely which will cost a lot.
I read through the forum and found that I can restore the factory settings but only if the USB-Debugging option is enabled which is not.
So, I hope someone have a solution as right now I am beginning to consider changing the motherboard.
I have all the receipts and warranty certificate that proves my possession.
Thanking you in advance and looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Michael
