Why does Sony insist on giving us Moxier Mail? I actually use it and like it but even the recent 2.1 firmware only includes Moxier 2.1. The current version is 2.8.
It's great they think they are being nice by giving it too us free but I'd rather pay and have the current version.
Anyone know if I can uninstall the default one since you can't just upgrade over it?

I'd suggest rooting and then removing it to install the latest one. Haven't tried this yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work
The app is $25. Ill take the free one unless there are some major upgrades between the one we have and this 2.8

I just wish they would have left the default exchange mail option in android email like every other 2.1+ phone has, why did they take that out?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Because the exchange in 2.1 doesn't meet the minimum security requirements for most corporate organizations
and doesn't sync calendar either, I hear.

There is a way if you really want the stock 2.1 Email. I did it and it works fine.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836541
and follow the instructions. Root needed.
Also.....in order to install Moxier 2.8, there is some file editting needed using root explorer in order to just install it.
I am running Moxier 2.8 on my X10 with 2.1.

Can you elaborate a little more about the app appbrain please. I researched it a little but just didn't completely understand it.
I don't either but once you sign in to your Google just go to the Market and push Menu->Downloads, and you will see the purchased and you can download it.

Right on! Just want I wanted to hear, thank you. I'll be flashing a ROM tonight!
I have an AT&T X10 on 1.6. I rooted to remove at&t apps, add tether, swype, etc. I pretty much have it running exactly how I want, I think. Question is, should I mess with upgrading? What will I gain? Will I have to re-install all the apps? I assume I'll have to re-root to get the root apps to work?
Thanks in advance.

use your brain little or just simply google it
2.1 is way better than the 1.6
You get HD recording for the camera. Better user interface. Better keyboard. Snappy time scape and media scape. You also get live wall papers. There are many more things which I want you to discover yourself to make it interesting.
The bottom line is to get an update. Its really worth it.

I've been using titanium backup when I flash a new rom. I usually do a full data wipe then, once the new rom is installed, i restore all of my apps and data.
The problem I'm having with titanium backup is that I have to individually install each app which is extremely time consuming.
Does anyone know of a more efficient method of backing up my apps?
BTW, I know you can make a .zip file using titanium but I wasn't able to flash it.

I just spent a couple bucks for the Pro key, which allows for batch restoring/backups. Completely worth it when you're wiping and flashing on a daily basis.
I agree. I bought the Pro key. I think buying it through the Amazon App store will bypass any currency conversion issues, possibly. (It seems like when I bought Titanium Backup Pro, I got charged an extra dollar because of the currency conversion....I don't think I had that problem with another app in a non-local currency via Amazon.)
I am seconding what he said. The Pro key is well worth the couple of bucks or whatever it costs. You just hit the restore and let it do it's thing. No prompts.
At $5.99, this will be one of the most expensive apps I have purchased but I'll give it a try if you guys say it's worth it.

It was the second app (of two) I ever purchased (the other being The Sims for $1), and it was totally worth it. Titanium Backup is simply a great program. The batch functionality alone is worth the price- Dropbox integration is a very nice perk (along with a few other Pro features).
I astro for back ups
I bought the Pro version of Titanium Backup after my first slow and tedious backup without the batch function. Plus the automatic backups are great.
i use my backup pro
Gonna have to invest in this as well. Thanks.
Alrighty. Just purchased and backing up as I type. I'll let you guys know.
Why doesn't google market keep track of the free apps we download?
That way when we first sync with google again it would at least get all our apps installed again.

That would be cool but it would still give a prompt for every single app which takes forever and is super annoying. I bought the Pro key and installed the new Nameless rom but now I have to reroot. I'll let you guys know how it worked out
Pro key for titanium. Best app purchase ever, hands down
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Pro key was my first purchase from the market. I don't regret it in the slightest. I always do a batch backup before flashing a rom and then batch restore after. I consider it essential if you are rooted.

It does, actually, in stock Froyo and above, but for some reason the ROMs we have on the Fascinate right now don't.
Normally, when you activate your Google account on a newly flashed phone, all your apps, paid and free, will automatically download as part of your first sync. It doesn't prompt you and it's totally automatic.
I do prefer using TB, though, as Google doesn't backup app data and it can take a really long time to download every app if you have a lot of them. Also, Google's sync occasionally misses apps or downloads ones that you had uninstalled.

I wonder if I have always done something wrong then, I may be new to the fascinate rom scene but I flashed multiple roms on my og droid and they never seemed to give me more than the paid apps
in the market.
admittedly these were aosp roms not stock verizon roms maybe that had something to do with it?
I have the paid version off TB as well but when flashing from say a TW rom to an AOSP rom I prefer to download the apps from the market everything seems to run smother when I do it this way.

Agreed...titanium b/u is worth every penny...on a side note, for me going into settings-> applications-> manage applications-> running applications and going to market (or in my case since I'm on ukb...its tsm market) and hitting clear data...then when I go to the market and hit my apps it will show all of my apps both free and purchased, assuming I don't have any of them frozen because frozen apps won't get recognized by the market...it doesn't start downloading on its own but at least I have a list of complete app download history should I need an update.

never bought the key for titanium, use the free version i like it because of the prompts. Sometimes i have apps that i dont use so i dont install.
I am currently running Bionix V 1.3.1 for the longest time…I think about 6 months. I love this ROM and don’t want to switch for a variety of reasons…mainly lack of time due to work, I like the rom and have themed it according to my taste etc etc. The only problem I have is that the email app doesn’t work. It was working fine until I flashed galaxy tablet email from ‘SGS Tools’ app. Since that day, my email exchange has stopped working and always forecloses upon phone reboot and also everytime I try to open it. Is there a way I could get the email app to work because I really absolutely positively need it for work. Switching to another ROM is currently not an option. Also reflashing the same Rom is not an option.
Please please someone tell me how to fix this.
Thanks.
I had a similar problem on a different ROM. I fixed it by installing an old backup of a previous version of the email APK from Titanium Backup. Hopefully you have an old backup.

I just flashed in CM7 rom to my SGS2. So I don't have the apps which were installed previously in the stock OS. I remembered that Quickoffice was there but I never opened it to see if it is freely installed for us or it is a trial version. I realized it is a paid app only when I searched for it in app market to install in my CM7! Can you guys please confirm whether the Quickoffice which came with stock OS was free or paid? Thanks in advance!
i didnt open quickoffice either but if I'm not mistaken, i believe the basic version was included for free but you cannot edit documents on it unless you paid for it. I'll let someone else confirm that, though.
good news/bad news
it appears to be the full version. just edited and saved a spreadsheet.
it's installed as a system app
i don't know if you can just go into system/app on your old rom (you did do a nandroid back up right?) and pull the apk and use that to install on the CM rom.
I did the same however the update that it says it has cost money.

Don't apply the update from market. It will make your free version into trial version. The included QuickOffic is full version already.
I had made a backup while on stock rom with titanium backup. I am on CM7 and used titanium backup to restore the app. I opened it and it asked if I wanted to update and I said no. I then went in and was able to create and save a word document. Then I went back in a was able to edit it.
Brought to you by my KICKASS CM7 AT&T SGS2
can the same be done for allshare app when running CM7? my guess is it wont run on CM7? Does the HDMI out work after running CM7? If not, will it ever work?
I didn't make a backup of the app, can anyone post it up somewhere?

Titanium Pro version has a NANDROID restore APK (app+data) option. Just pull the app from the backup (com.qo.android.samsung) you should have made before flashing.
or
download "AppExtractor" from the market to restore from NANDROID also.
I tried to backup Allshare with Titanium and then restore onto GalnetMIUI 1.11.9. It would not restore, just says restoring app forever, never finishes.
I ended up downloading Skifta, I like it and works just as good as AllShare.
FYI: quickoffice pro is free on amazon today.

Noticed this, but does anyone know if Amazon version is newer or not? According to version number on Amazon it's an older version; or at least on my SG2 my version reads 4.1.20110711.67. Amazon reads 4.1.156. I bought it anyway, for free of course, but haven't installed it. Don't want to override the installed version if older.
^^ you can update it...
Can't seem to uninstall the included version. When I install the Pro version I got from Amazon there are now 2 icons. I cannot uninstall the included version.
are you rooted? You can't uninstall apps that come with the phone unless you have root access.

I still have the free version of Quickoffice. It tell me there is an update, but takes me to a blank page on Quickoffice.com.
Anyone else seen this? I am rooted and rum Unnamed.
