I currently have a i-9000, the 3 button version in my hand.
I'm trying to use this for T-mobile.
Somehow, I was lucky to get 3 button PDA file for JFD.
I have been using it ever since for my t-mobile account,
however...
I'm in big urge to try the ROM.
I already have rooted and done several things with my brother's
vibrant version of Galaxy S, as there is many ROM's out there for it.
However, obviously, it is impossible to find ROM for I-9000 that is
designated for T-mobile U.S. version.
Is there anyway I can solve this problem..
I know that.. if I tried something like..
rooted i-9000 with any I-9000 rom on this forum won't work,
nor can I flash the modem file only after flashing ROM on the device.
What is possible solution?
My ultimate goal is to Froyo this i-9000 and use it as T-mobile USA.

If you have an I9000, then go to there section if you have a question about it.
I posted in the section as well.
Since its, somewhat T-mo related, as well as Galaxy S model,
I think its okay for me to ask a question in here, too.
Can you use Web2Go with the i9000?

Not really. If I had a question about the Optimus S, I wouldn't ask it on the Optimus T boards.

Hi All,
First off I apologize for my layman terms and my ignorance. I am a brand new Samsung Galaxy SII user. I have a plan with AT&T and mine is stock- My girlfriend is who has the problem, therefor I am asking for her.
She unlocked her Samsung Galaxy SII herself and is on an in-state cell provider. She has rooted her phone and encountered some problems... Calls not being heard, bottom touch buttons not working, etc. So currently we are working on getting it back to the stock i777 (it's on a 9100 and upgraded to 2.3.5) in hopes of returning it.
I downloaded Odin onto my computer in an attempt to help her. I downloaded the rooted system package because she wanted to keep her root, and I downloaded the Modem thingy to help with the calls not working. I thought I could just extract these and put them into Odin, but it's not doing anything :/ It recognizes them but starts to load up and then stays where it's at, and everything is the same.
I'm frustrated because Im a complete noob to all of this. I am used to iPhones and iPhone terms, and I am familiar with jailbreaking them. But things like Kernel, pit, modem, etc are all foreign words to me, so I am having trouble picking the right words to search for in the box.
Is there anyone that can lend a complete moron some help? I dont even know where to start. I'd love to get this fixed for my girl.
Flashing to i9100 ROMs are to the blame for all her issues. International versions are not compatible firmware and hardware wise with AT&T version. You will get button issue and call issues.
The problem you have is probably due to a newer boot loader being updated to the phone and it is refusing anything other than the i9100 ROMs.

Bootloaders don't do anything like that.
My suspicion is that it's some sort of driver problem. Beyond that, I don't know - I've never flashed from Windows before.
She shouldn't need to return her phone. Running an I9100 ROM and modem is known to cause ALL of the issues she's having.
Does her device have working Clockworkmod Recovery? If so, try flashing Cognition X2 from the development forums here. Make sure it's X2, not S2 - S2 is for the I9100. Cognition X2 is intended for our phone.
Thank you both for your replies so far! I am going to try the Cognition X2 and see how that works.
I had the same problem.
Use this as a guide fixed it:
Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware in the development section.
We got it fixed! Buttons work and so do the calls! Back on i777 too! Thanks!
Bought the T-mobile galaxy tab 10.1 4g. I am interested in rooting the device so that I can remove unwanted bloatware. I am somewhat concerned by the absence of any comment on the device. I have one week to return it. Should I? Seems that not one single person has an interest in tweaking this device. I thought that this site would have root instructions on line within hours of the November release. I am concerned that it has not. It has version 3.2. Please advise. Thanks.
I too an anxiously awaiting some coverage on this... love the tablet, but dont willing to risk experimenting with it w/o more experience recovering devices.
The largest number of people here by far have Wi-Fi Tabs (P7510) followed by 3G Tabs (P7500). I'd guess about 15-25% have VZW LTE Tabs. Support for the latter dev wise and even from VZW has been pretty light. The good news is the T-Mobile Tab isn't 4G, but 3G HSPA+, the same as the international P7500. The only difference is it supports T-Mobile's funky AWS bands. Depending on how similar it is to the P7500, you may be able to use its ROMs. Post in the dev section and see if one of the P7500 dev's can help figure it out.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

good to know!
Has anyone flashed a rom on the t-mobile g tab yet? About to get one of these and want to make sure I'll be able to get ICS on it.
you can run my custom kernel on this device.
_tmo in the filename.

Stock recovery?
Question:
Any of you who have rooted found/have a copy of the stock recovery in case I need to return or resale? I've been searching for a while and can't figure which one is the one for the US TMO variant.
TIA

Looks like there is plenty of them, particularly international versions. Model seems to me that is 7500. However, I'm not flashing anything until I find the stock restore for Recovery - my previous post.
(Woops... just realized I flashed CWM Recovery last night in order to root so I could unlock radio . So much for being careful grrr)
Has anyone tried any of the available ROMs?
what am i doing wrong? my t-mobile tab wont' root.
superuser is installed after following the steps. i've installed busybox free. but root checker and titanium backup both say it's not rooted?

Hi, I am opening this sub-forum for N7005 variant as its a closer relative to I717 than the international N7000 note.
So far, as read and tried from other earlier posts, I managed to root, flash CWM, flash TWRP and flashing of various roms from this I717 Forum without any issue, yet. No changing of modems. So far, no issue with basebands so 4g still works great.
Roms I have tried, the original Paranoid Android and the Cookies & Cream. Both are great roms.
Hope that the Mod dun close me down on here.
Cheers!

Are you trying to say that you had use the same firmware to root your lte note using i717?
yup..
Followed this method.. TWRP same as I717.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/how-to-root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
Original thread that I read was from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876490&page=2
This is a good thread. I have been trying to find the N7005 all over google and got very a little and mostly, 'irrelevant' results. I believe the note LTE might be a different from the N7000.
Would also like to know if you already have successfully installed the I717 custom ROM on your N7005?
Yes.
I am starting to believe ours have the exact same hardware as I717. It just carry a different model no because of the different baseband.
I have tried ( and successfully flashed ) the original Panaroid Android, the Cookies & Cream, Unofficial CM10 and Liquid Jelly. and also a kernel ( cant remember the name..) All worked well apart from issues with the standard bugs from the current developement of Jellybean. Just be careful not to touch the modem.
There is one little problem though.. I cant really find a convienent way for ours to flash back to stock or remove root if I ever need to send back for official servicing. The only solutions on the web suggest flashing US Carriers specific roms , which does not apply for us.
Well actually, there is a way to go back to official stock.. 2 day ago there was a minor update from samsung. so I flashed and it remove the root. And my firmware now read, Official Samsung.
I haven tried flashing again as I felt that though all the developers are working very very hard for JB and I do really appreciate the efforts , imo its not that stable yet.
Its pretty safe, I tried and they worked. BUT, PLS DO A BACKUP OF YOUR STOCK ROM!! Need any more info, I can share.
Disclamer: I will not be responsible for any kind of damage, bricked or blow ups...
And, U have to understand that if things goes wrong during flashing or any weird errors appears later, the developers are not oblige/not able to help as the I717 stuffs just " happen to work " on our device.

I'm currently still stuck with my SGS, looking at N7005 when my contract expires. You said don't touch the modem, why is that the case? From my understanding you can just flash the baseband back on my SGS, is there an issue if you flash another modem on the N7005? Region issue?
The SGS have great international and local support. Any resources are readily available.
I717 is pretty much confined to the US. Their modems are specific to their baseband's bandwidth. There is no such modem in our region that u can safely flash that is guaranteed to work with our carrier. I know HK they have a forum for N7005 but its all in chinese. I am not too good in that. And, I dun see any real needs to flash the modem as well.
BTW, for local users that have a habit of flashing roms, I wouldnt recommend this model at all. The device is great but zero local support. I have even checked with Official Samsung Singapore and they dun even know if N7005 is getting JB but Original Note N7000 will be and the Note 2 will launch with JB. Go for more sensible options my brother...
I bought this purely because it was cheaper that time. And I traded in my nexus so this phone was basically free.. Then later I realise I will have the flashing "issues"..

I did look at the original note and S3, but what I wanted was larger display and I have a budget so I might not consider Note 2. I wanted to get LTE Note since it supports LTE and it would be a waste if we didn't make use of that.
I did see on starhub website that it states it is upgradeable to JB, but their website is always providing inaccurate information. Thanks for the recommendation, might reconsider. :good:

Can I have the link, please?
The 4g would come in handy for sure. I actually turned that off coz its eating my battery like theres no tmr..
Regards the HK forum, I dun have the link anymore.. ask Google my friend..
I realised the information on our local telco (Starhub) said processor is 1.4 Ghz, but the SHG-I717 is a 1.5 Ghz Scorpion.
Also the firmware stated on Samsung website says it should be ICS instead of GB, where Starhub says its GB and upgradable to JB?
So which is correct??
Look elsewhere for information. Believe the opposite of starhub. The specs they listed belongs to the international note N7000.
Hi dude, can u please show how u did to sucessfully to flash this stock roms to pandroid rom.. thank you in advance

I recently switched carriers. I was previously on sprint and now I am on Verizon. I had 'goodness jellybean' on my sph l710 & I also have it installed on my sch i535(rooted obviously and also unlocked boot loader). I had the KT747 kernel on sph L710 & I really liked it. I tried flashing the KT kernel onto my I535 model using the version that comes in the Team Nocturnal add one. It flashed and worked and everything seemed good except one problem....my screen rotation was backwards. I tried the Agat kernel also and ran into the same issue. So my question is this, is there different variants of the kernel? I'm sure most of you if not all, know that goodness was ported over from Sprint to Verizon. My thoughts were that if the kernel was listed in the add one/mods that it would be compatible with said phone model it was shown on. I've been looking all over for the answer to this and have not found anything explaining it. This is my first time posting on here, so I apologize if i rambled on to long or anything else annoying. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated regarding my issue or tips on posting in the future. Thanx in advance!
Phone is SCH I535

Ah...10-4, tho...would it still not apply tho, due to the fact its a general question that applies to all phones and not just the s3 even? Not that I'm arguing your point Cuz I do see your point, but its a gen question applicable to all variants. But if it does need to goto the intended forum, how would I do that. Thanx
Well, kernel is specific to the hardware of the device. Simplistically, it communicates between the applications and hardware. So, yes, it would vary with phone version. To stay on topic, this means on my I9300 I cannot use a kernel from any of the variants you mentioned.

OK...perfect. I don't know why I was having such a difficult time with this one. Either way, thank you very much. Like I think I mentioned before, in the tn updater it brings up that KT kernel. I'm thinking maybe that wasn't changed when it was ported over from the Sprint version. Maybe, maybe not. I just now actually came across the Verizon version of it. Thank you for your help though, very much appreciated. Hopefully this may help someone else out to, who is still learning the ins n outs of this 'stuff' lol. Take care
Hello everyone,
Let me preface this by saying that I have googled this extensively and used the search feature on XDA but so far I have come up with no clear results. Apologize if this has been asked before (it probably has). I hope you guys can help me by providing me with some definite answers.
Background:
I've been researching about getting Lollipop on my device (I had it on my rooted sprint s4 and I miss it dearly). I've heard that the MetroPCS S5 is the exact phone as the T-Mobile S5. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to confirm whether that's the case or not. I have a MetroPCS S5 (SM-G900T1), and I would greatly appreciate it if you guys took the time to answer these questions for me:
1) Are they really the same phone?
AFTER SIM-UNLOCKING THE PHONE
2) Can I put T-Mobile S5 custom recoveries on the Metro Version?
3) Can I put T-Mobile S5 custom ROMs on the Metro version?
If the answers to question 2 and 3 is "NO" then where can I find a place where people are developing for the MetroPCS S5 or that place doesn't exist?
Thank you all for reading and for any help.
1) They are mostly the same as they do use the same network.
2) Any KLTE recovery will work.
3) Any KLTE rom SHOULD work, check the OP of the roms developer. Any KLTE AOSP rom will work.
Here is a site showing the recoveries are the same. -->HERE<--

Can you expect in the distant future a way to install a custom recovery without tripping the knox count (I believe that's what it's called)? As far as I know there's no way to reset that.

Doubtful that Knox will be figured out anytime in the near future. And you are correct, you cannot reset it once it's tripped.
But if you look around at the Knox threads, the vast majority of users that have tripped Knox have not had any problem getting service or warranty work. So for the most part it's a non issue.
Of course YMMV
