best way to keep the notification bar hidden - Vibrant Themes and Apps

question in title
i know launcher pro does this but when you open up an app (like handscent sms) it shows up again.
is there any app or anything to remove the notification bar universally?

I use the zeam launcher. That has an option that almost always hides it. Hope that helps.

so does Launcherpro, i was hoping there's some sort of individual app just for removing the notification bar?
im prettyed used to launcherpro and would prefer to stick with it

I dont know of a way to do it in apps, but if you want it gone on your lockscreen as well, I use Widget Locker to accomplish this as well as place a bunch of widgets Im always using right on my lockscreen

damn, i guess our phones just aren't meant to not have the not. bar.
only reason i'd like to have it gone is so I can further depend on widgets, just for the hell of it.

zeam launcher does it for me all the time once i hide it its gone in any app i open

Does anyone use folder organizer

its a brilliant app, however there is one feature i still cannot figure out/dont know if its possible. I like the feature that allows you to place shortcuts in the notification menu. pretty basic. but everytime i do, the ugly ass default icon shows up in the bar, even if i apply a default/custom icon to the app.
does anyone know how to change the notification bar icon for those shortcuts?
What launcher are you using? I'm using launcher pro and have two folder organizer links on my dock, one for my android tools and another for internet stuff. The launcher lets you customize the icons for anything in the dock by long pressing on the icon/app. Give it a try.

Try barcontrol, you're limited to their icons but there a few decent ones.

im actually running bar control, i have been for quite a while, i just really want to be able to set my own icons. i mean folder organizer allows you to associate custom icons to apps, but for some reason it doesnt resize the icons to fit the notification bar

Launcher question

I want a launcher that I can have the option to hide or remove the dock and icons so I can place a widget in that area is there any such option in launcherpro? Or do I have to get something else.

Adw has this option. launcher pro does not.

yes, and ADW Ex has even more customization. definately worth a few dollars
Alright I found the setting
Is there any way to have a shortcut or something that would pull up the app catalog without having the dock?
The only way I could do it was by enabling one icon but that defeats the purpose of me doing this since Im trying not to have any icons on the bottom of the screen where the dock is so I can make my own shortcut with minimalistic text

You should be able to set that as a swype gesture in the adw settings. Or set the home button to open close the app drawer.

Yeah I actually figured out something I was doing wrong in trying to get the look. It wasn't minimalistic text it was actually a dock and with launcher pro i just made some blank icons and set swipe feautures and it came out how I wanted. Thanks

What he said. I'm using a combination of ADW Launcher EX and CircleLauncher
Your main screen will look like this:
The icons you see on the top left and bottom right are CircleLauncher. When i tap them they open up the predefined app selection of my choosing. You have the choice of a circle, horizontal or vertical style.
Another neat thing on the ADW Launcher EX is that you can use the swipe up and down gesture to preform actions. For example swipe down opens my Notifications Bar and swipe up opens my Apps Drawer.
Hope you find what you need.

I like Adw. It's simple clean and fast. Not sure if I will upgrade to the paid version since a lot of reviews are have force close issues. Are you getting any?

Personally i have never had a force close on my 3D. On my 4G I did have a couple force closes but it didn't bother me as much. Try out the free version for a couple days to get the feel of it. If you feel generous afterwards you can "donate" to the owner instead of "buying" it, that's how I looked at it. Good luck!

The same thing can be accomplished with Launcher Pro as well.
+1 for ADW. I hide the notification bar and get rid of the launcher. Here is a link to my setup. I've made some changes lately but you can get the general idea. Swipe down opens the notifications and swipe up opens the app drawer...

Any of you tried wave launcher? I love that... Another great option if you ditch the dock. And you can use it from anywhere from any app
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yeah, ADW does exactly what you're looking for, here's another image to add to the pile on this thread =p
What my home screen looks like (click for full size):
You can also set an optional 'hidden' dock that comes up on a specified gesture (for example, if I flick upwards I get my appdrawer, phone and ADW settings).
Tried wave launcher. Wasn't feeling it. Settled on circle launcher. Advanced settings go for deep customization.
With auncher pro i could never find out how to hide dock. Anyways to much work if they can't just add a simple setting to hide it. Shame cause I want it for the gmail widget plus glass sense glass theme.
Only bad think about Adw is the app drawer lags when opening and really bad scrolling. Not much of an issue once I have my screens setup. Never need to use it.

GoLauncher EX For Tablet?

Anyone have the solution to completely removing the dock bar for GoLauncher Ex? Im able to hide it but that space is unusable by widgets therefore making it impossible to center widgets.
i've been trying the same thing and i think we have to wait for new golauncher ex release with tablet optimizations

I'm in the same boat, can't figure it out. It's kinda odd with all the options it has there is none for removing it or moving it around.

GO Launcher Dock Orientation
Hi,
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option to move the dock from the vertical to horizonal position. But I do have a somewhat fix for.
Hold your finger down on the app drawer icon and drag it to the home screen to create basically a shortcut
Open the GO Launcher 'Preferences'
Go to 'Gesture Settings'
Open 'Glide down action'
Choose 'GO Launcher shortcut'
Choose 'Show/Hide dock bar'
Go back to the Home screen and slide your finger down to hide the dock
You can still access your app draw using the shortcut you created.
I've downloaded the Honeycomb GO Launcher theme so the icon has the same look as Honeycomb's default icon for the app drawer. I've also Held my finger down on the shortcut to the app drawer and clicked rename and removed the text "Appdrawer' and left it blank.
I hope this helps some people.

The Best Screen Lock App

My wish is that someone would make a Screen Lock App and maybe some has, if not I think this a great idea, of course.
1. It must show any missed income calls, messages and emails.
2. Time and weather.
3. Circle when long pressed to swipe outside of circle to open.
4. Customizable App selection; the ability to add a few apps around the circle to choose from, but if not chosen swipe outside of the circle to opens.
5. Select a random picture everytime you turn on your phone from a directory of your choice.
I think that's a tall order my friend, but you can try Widget Locked and see if you get some or all of those things you're looking for...

Yes, WidgetLocker is great. It allows to add homescreen widgets on it. Plus, it has many themes to launch apps (ICS, Sense, iPhone).
I'd like to add more: Install "Tesla Unread" to get missed call, SMS and Gmail counts.
Yeah, Widget Locker pretty much does all of that minus Live Picture wallpaper.

You'll have to install Go Launcher EX to use it. Just to tweak lock screen usability, changing home launcher is an overkill..
I'm gonna suggest, as others here have, Widget Locker. I've always been running widget locker since I first had an android phone and have never used anything else because it does the job perfectly. Obviously, it's best feature is the customization available for it. Every few days I'm changing the layout of my lockscreen, just so it's something new
