Hi,
Is it possible to change tracks playing on the device by using the handsfree? It pauses and changes volume, but doesn't change... tried double and triple taps even...
Regards.
Salman Khalid.
I don't believe there is support for track changing. I guess you're stuck with using the onscreen buttons for now.
ok... so the first thing i actually hate about the device!
I've tested this, working brilliant with my BMW E46 and Dynavin Radio using AD2P...
Track forward, backwards, stop, pause/play...

Hi,
I'm running Comm Rom 2.0 with the MIUI music app. I can connect my music to my stereo via bluetooth with no problems, but I can't switch tracks using the stereo controls. My sister has a stock, unrooted Fascinate and the controls are responsive for hers. I've also tried using the default music player and that didn't seem to change things on my end. Other threads with different phones on the matter don't seem to have any definitive solutions either. I'd really appreciate it if someone had an idea of what's going on with my phone. Thanks.
My MIUI music lockscreen (next/previous) controls aren't working either. Pause toggle works fine though. Also tried simulating Next and Previous Media buttons with Tasker and that's unresponsive too while pause is fine.
I tried restoring nandroid to when I remember it working but it doesn't look like its changed anything. Is something conflicting with something?
My phone was overheating and locking up while using bluetooth. I plan on trying it again with my latest rom. I will check and see if I can switch tracks.
Thanks, let me know how it turns out.
I guess I should probably rephrase the question. Has anyone running Comm Rom 2.1 with or without MIUI have trouble switching tracks via universal media buttons with lockscreen or external controls?
check out this app: Media Button Router (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...cm9pZC5tYnIiXQ..)
that should fix it
Link isn't working... but more importantly did you realize this thread is almost 2 years old now? It's more than likely he's resolved it by now...
Hey Guys,
I have a GT-P7510 running CM9 with Pershoot's 2.6.36.4 cyanogenmod+root kernel
I use Spotify and PlayerPro to play my music.
I have noticed Voodoo Sound has been acting rather strange.
I've noticed on my Vibrant that Voodoo Sound once started after boot and set, will keep its volume until reboot without fail, provided the proper settings. but for some reason on the tablet it is unable to do that. Spotify suffers the most from this, after almost every song it decides to drop back down to -10db from +2db where I have it set for lineout in my car. If I open Voodoo Sound up after the volume drops, it will jump back up either immediately, or after I press on 'Headphone amplifier' when the bar comes up, it resets the volume back to +2db for the duration of that song. With my Vibrant, that behavior does not seem to exist. I've been trying to figure out what could be causing it.
My guesses are:
Spotify is messing with the settings between each song
CM9 Memory Management doesn't keep Voodoo Sound running as a service
Android Gremlins
Anybody else notice this behavior? If so, have any suggestions to resolve it, or to resolve my suspected reasons?
Thanks!
-Rob
I've been having the same issues aswell, I reported this issue already to curio but then again has unticking the box for safe level audio made a difference?
yeah, jack safety is off. I fiddled with it again last night. There is a good chance we will have to talk to notify about it. I have been noticing that their software is very buggy on this platform.
Rumor has it Samsung and CM are collaborating, which might give us the extra leverage needed to have them fix these bugs, of these are their bugs.

I had a bit of a breakthrough. I was researching spotify and volume related issues. I came across people complaining about how spotify handles sound, which is a bit like what Skype does to media during an incoming call, as well as some people's dislike for it. A little more digging came across this thread on xda. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803432 a chap with windows mobile had that problem and follow the m.spotify.com link, download for android 1.6+ install it (3rd party install apks enabled) this one. Once done confirm the following voodoo sound settings.
Smart amplifier
Don't interrupt music
Restore at launch
Load up spotify
Drop the volume until analog volume drops
Raise it back up again.
It held it for at least 3 songs while spotify holds focus. If you leave focus it will drop at the end of the song.
Beats having to turn the gain on the car up dangerously high and having alternator noise bleed in. Also beats resetting the volume after each song.
Fortunately with smart amplifier running you can just drop the volume a couple of times and raise it again for it to hit +2db again rather than diving through menus. And I was wrong, it defaults to -4db after each song.
Oh well its a lazy but annoying work around for now.

Hey Guys,
I have a little bit of an update,
The new preview release of spotify doesn't seem to be as heavily effected as the current market release, so if you use spotify and this is driving you crazy. Google their latest beta preview, should be easy to find. Perks of the new version, faster, less retarded navigation, full ics support, 320kbps, and just straight up better [=
Only draw backs atm is it is portrait mode only and occasionally drops the voodoo sound volume.

With the upgrade to ICS I am no longer able to make the button on my wired headset pause/unpause music. I've tried freezing the Voice Commands app using Titanium, I've tried using the Jays Headset Control app, I've tried other music playing apps like Rocketplayer. I can always make the button pause music successfully while the screen is on, but if the screen is off it simply doesn't work. My primary music player is the standard "Play Music" app that comes with ICS.
Are others having this problem? Have you found a way around it?
I am having the same issue too, once the screen locks I cant pause, rewind, or fast foward
I'm having the exact same issue using DoggCatcher. I have a brand new set of phillips headphones for android that worked great before the update. If anyone can figure this out, it would be great.
Try Poweramp, it has a setting that gives Poweramp a higher priority for this case (Haven't tested it with ICS yet, but on GB this worked).
Other than that, it's a nice and beautiful music player btw.
Thanks for the poweramp suggestion. I gave it a try this morning but it behaves exactly the same as the other music apps. Headset controls work fine when the screen is on but don't work at all when the screen is off. I suppose it's good to hear that others are having problems too, which means it's not a problem with just my phone. I'd love to hear a solution!

Same problem here after upgrading to ICS. Headset controls work perfectly with the screen on but don't work at all with the screen off. I have tried using JAYS Headset Control, Headset Button Controller, Headset Droid, and the built-in headset control functions of Winamp and Poweramp all to no avail. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the lock screen music controls disappear after installing headset control apps due to some sort of conflict between the app and the Android system.
Anyone find a solution to this? Your ugly red head step child the Droid Bionic seems to have the same problem. So I was hoping there'd be some app or setting to flick to make the controls work when the screen is off.
Also eager to find the best solution on Android, it is pretty easy on iOS!!!
As a music fan, this feature means a lot for us. But seems Android doesn't like music as iOS.
For me, I have upgraded to JB 4.1 and my current solution is create a smart action like launch Google Play Music when plug in headset. The control works for pause and play when screen is off. Actually it also works for skipping by double clicking very quickly, but it seems a little bit hard to achieve, or you can say it doesn't work. But it DOES work sometimes. Good luck!

This doesn't work for me. I think i could use the headset controlls before installing headset controller.

ive been using poweramp, and this may just be my choice in headphones, but ive never gotten those buttons to work on CM10...again this may just be me, but ive never gotten headphone buttons to work on my RAZR
Install Headset button controller, tap on the Advanced label, scroll until you find the 'Advanced settins' entry (it's the last on the list), check 'Prevent sleep mode' option. It works fine, but it's a shame we have to pay for an app in order to fix a os's bug.
For me the problem was MotoCast. After I disabled in the settings everything worked great.
there has got to be a dev here that can make a separate navigation volume . im sick of not being able to hear my nav while playing music . when nav voice comes on its so low compared to the volume i listen to my music at . HELP! even if its not a separate volume may some one could break into the app and boost the volume in the app about 30 %
Hmmm sound interesting but upload or link me to the app

Its the maps app . You should have it on your phone .
If you wanted integrated navigation volume it would have to be hard coded into the OS. Nav volume is based on media volume, so you can't really boost it in the OS. It would require edits to a majority of the framework files and a custom systemui
well then my question is ... can it be done ? i know im not the only one with this problem. its all over the internet with no fix that i can find . im sure people would appreciate it if a modded app was available .there used to be a separate volume for this but google removed it for some reason ?

Doubtful. If it was done, it couldn't be done for Sense roms and would take months to implement into AOSP. You'd have to convince CM or someone that it's a major issue. Too much work for 1-2 people. Try using an aftermarket app like Volume+?
It can depends on how you are listening to music. If you listen to music from your phone threw the auxiliary port in the car then it will play threw the car speakers and work like you want it to. It maybe even work threw Bluetooth if your car lets you listen to music/media thew Bluetooth then you might be able to listen to the radio while having nav on and connected to Bluetooth and have it played back on the car speakers. When I need to use the nav on mine I just connect threw the auxiliary and listen to music from my phone and let the nav play threw the speakers.

yes i have a 2011 ford taurus and connect via bluetooth it works but while listening to music and using nav ,the nav is much lower than the music . and if i turn up the volume then the music is to loud . it just sucks google took out nav volume . theres got to be a way to break into the nav app and change the output volume . but im no developer so i may be wrong . maybe even something like this http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te...ions/85987-facinate-g-nav-volume-too-low.html
Try doing it thew the auxiliary that works great for me it works on stock nav and sygic.

That weird when I tried the app my music go low and the nav can talk what music app are you using

Personally, for many reasons, I have a strong preference for using a separate device for my GPS. I use an old Garmin nuvi 750.
Without the Garmin, I would be running maps, trapster, and keeping my phone on the dashboard for a good GPS signal. And on top of that, I might receive a phone call.
I prefer using my GPS as a GPS and speed camera warning device. Then my smart phone can be a phone, email, messaging device.

Navigation is for people who don't have a GPS, or don't have it with them. Not meant to be a full fledged GPS. (Even though it is pretty close)
I noticed this same problem about a month or so ago. They changed Maps so that it had the same volume as general media and assumed that all other apps would work perfectly with it. Like you said its all over the internet, or a decent section of the internet. Based on the amount of complaints I assume eventually things will improve over time with updates. Yet with the way they reprogrammed it, there is no longer a separate "navigation volume" option in settings. So changing it would be like programming an entirely new app. I'm with you though. I can't hear my nav at the same appropriate volume of music.
Hi XDA,
Since i'm working and barely have time to look at my phone whilst i'm working, i would like to have a way to control music playback (such as next song, play/pause, louder, quieter) without taking it out of its etui. I'm thinking it would be possible to control the phone via tapping on it, while it's in the pocket.
Is there any app out there, where it would be possible to do so?
If not, i think it would be easy to make such an app.. using either the microphone to pick up the tapping noise or the accelerometer in some way.
Thanks,
