Hey all,
I've noticed there is not one single theme posted in this sub-forum...
Are none being developed?
Do you guys go elsewhere to grab them?
Is everyone using the stock/non-modified theme?
I would guess the way they are loaded in the same way as described on TheUnlockr??
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-load-a-theme-on-an-android-phone/
...If so, where are the themes for Legend in the first place?
There are no themes, cause the only root method doesn't gives /system access. Yup, we have root, but it's not actual root
Thanks for the reply and info - I had no idea!
Is gaining the necessary level of root simply not achievable, or is it a case of no-one having a go at it yet?
Our legend doesnt have Nand access, which allows us to modify anything deep inside the phone, Desire recently has it. The app for theming - Metamorph - doesnt work on Legend, so, you may interested in this theme (actually its a ROM), it's Espresso from HTC.
Thanks for that info, slowly I am understanding more and more ...
Will the Legend ever get 'Nand access' ? Or is that a silly question?
Hope it will. Everything ordinary user can do is keep on requesting for it=)
Yeah, It possibly will, because people can do that on Desire, EVO 4G. It's just the matter of time, more Legend users, more chances
This is how they do Nand root on HTC EVO 4G : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701835
good themes

Which root method makes this possible on desire? Never heard about it before
Well here is one theme that apparently works on the Legend: [Theme] Weiss Theme 0.6 for CM6, 21/8
try looking in the hero themes section im sure most aosp themes will work with

I used it for a while too, I think it looks very nice. However, I couldn't get the battery to show as percent whilst keeping the notification bar of that theme, so I reverted back to the 'default Azure' one.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you revert it? Install Azure rom again or?

I didn't know either.
So, as I wrote in the thread for that theme, I reinstalled Azure. I'm sure there's a more simple way to do but I had no idea how...

One would need a SPL that allows write access to certain mtd partitions. There's realy so little interest in hacking Legend as it is not so widely spread and atractive as for instance Desire or EVO. There's one other thing... engineering SPL for Legend haven't been leaked from HTC yet
But there's an alternative which could make theming possible...
Oh man, just rooted my Legend and was looking forward to appying some themes!
So, is there no way we can apply themes? What about metamorph?

I *think* the door to many possibilities has been opened by this mod:[MOD] full r/w access via overlay filesystem, since it allows access to part of the system that we didn't have before.... and allows for themes to be applied. See BlaY0's post above.
Anyone know what the next step is....?

It doesn't give actual write access, but it should allow for metamorph to work.
The next step is persuading ROM developers to actually put that script into their ROMs.

Awesome guide http://teambamf.net/showthread.php/718-How-to-flash-a-ROM
Easiest way is to download stuff from market such as beautiful widgets and go launcher. With those two you can download themes and widget packs that are much easier for a new comer to understand than flashing a theme that may break your Rom.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button
I've read that but like for cool themes it says I for CM7 or for DasBamf and like whars the difference between a rom and a theme x(

Roms are the operating systems of the phone, so to speak. Themes make them look how you want. For example, changing all button presses to blue. You need to install a rom, as someone linked a few posts up. Then from there you will have to install the theme. If its a sense based rom and theme (similar to what your phone was stock), then the theme will be flashed through recovery. If it is an AOSP rom and theme (CM7, OMGB) then there is a theme changer included in the apps to easily change themes. I suggest you read the faq's on here and on the other sites to grasp how to flash roms before you tackle themes so you don't get yourself into too much trouble! Good luck.

haha... I have a feeling you confused him even more.
I find its impossible to explain what a ROM is to someone. Only way for them to understand is to see it and use it with their own eyes.

Well i tried. "A" for effort? haha
Here is a little write up on what a rom is for him if he's confused
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/05/01/custom-roms-for-android-explained-and-why-you-want-them/
you have 2 options also.
1. find theme you want first then READ THE OP of that theme thread and flash the rom they say its for, then flash theme.
2. find a rom you like the best then find themes that are compatable.
either way your gonna need to get comfortable with flashing items. It may take you a few tries to get the set up that works best for you.
I had the same question... (yaay! noob searched before starting a thread!!) Thanks for the responses. And it DOES make sense to me, so original poster should have little/no difficulty doing either.

Hello all,
I am running Check Rom V6 right now. I have 5 icons, dialer, contacts, messaging, home, and apps. I was wondering if someone could guide me on how to use these icons. They are all in a .png format. Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

What launcher are you using? Most allow you to replace icons with ones of your choosing, you'll just have to put them on your sdcard.
If you're wanting to theme icons at the system level, or your launcher doesn't allow you to select a custom icon, then you'll have to modify apks.

Send me the icons and I'll make a flashable .zip for you that will change them, hassle free ( plus a recovery one so you can revert them if you don't like them ).
It's 2 minutes of work
Edit : I figure you want to change them while using Touchwiz, because replacement launchers do it easily anyway
Thank You Sir!!!!
I have uploaded the contacts messaing apps and all icons i dont need the dialer as it is stock look in the newest 2.3.6 builds

Ok , I'm onto it now
Edit : K, it's done

CWM -> Install update from sdcard ( don't worry about "enter the Vertumus world" text, I just edited Vert's zip a bit )
tested on my phone and works like a charm
Now I just need to wait till my CheckROM v6 finishes downloading so I can make a restore zip for you.
I'm not sure what the default icons are in new version and I need it anyway
Check this post later on. Post a screenshot when you flash it
Sir dont worry about the the restore packages i have a backup. I will post a screen shot thank you soo much though

Not strictly true - although it is an app drawer replacement.
Can change icons and names with this, my favourite ever app ever of all time ever.
As I've posted before, if there's an easier way to edit icons/text and retain functionality, I have yet to find it.
Especially because I couldn't modify an apk if my life was at stake...

Actually, the easiest way is using vrtheme, no need to modify apks or use anything else than the Touchwiz launcher itself
Check the last post on the previous page
Sounds Good

Thanks, I'll take your word for it. But I don't use TW launcher, and the app I refer to gives me a list view - a dealbreaker for me, was looking for a listview forever and a day, and I'll never go back

You have the list view in touchwiz too
Open appdrawer -> options button ( the one to the left of the home button ) -> List View...
I just hope you were joking

Not joking, sorry. Haven't used nor installed TW launcher for about 7 months.
Live and learn - glad to be corrected, and not worried about my ignorance being on public display. Can hardly backtrack now can I?
Can you edit icons and app names there too?

Hi XDAs
How can I set all widgets on my home screens to transparent in a simple way?
Please don't post me this link.
Rooted N5, stock, 4.4.2.
Thanks a lot.
Regards
Simple way? Find widget replacements from the Play Store that offer transparent options. Other than that, the link you said you don't want to do would be it. Sometimes you gotta put in effort to get what you want, unfortunately. There's no magic transparent widget option. First world problems, right?

Thx 4 ur answer. I make many efforts and take always the time to mod my system! The problem with this link is that not all apps are available and if there is a new version of a specific app you can do the process again and again.

have been asking for the tab pro rom port to the tab S both by thedevious1 since they are so similar..no response (understand that). I tried my own cut and paste...select priv apps and it boots but system ui error..individually can take the file manager and mms apks and they work fine with the lighter ui..the contacts also can be used but not with phone (dependencies I guess)..tried porting using some of the guides but what do I know..also most of guides are old and jb etc based
