Text size - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi ive just updated my X10 to 2.1 and would like to know if there is any way to increase the size of the text in the message app as it is rediculously small considering its on a 4" screen.

theres an app called lcd density on the market, but that changes everything bigger or smaller!

Change font size on Vibrant

Is there an app I can use to do this or some settings I can change to make the font size larger? I tried an app called "Root Changer (root user)" didn't really work. Thanks everyone.

Spare parts works great
I have spare parts but it only changes the font size within the app.

I'm also looking for an app like that, i want to make my front smaller
Maybe you could change directly the front with flipfont ?
I installed the Zapf Chancery font from flipfont and thats the reason I'm trying to find something that increases the font size. It's a great font just to small.

I think the only way to do what you are asking is to edit the font through the creation of a font and install it with flipfont. There is a great thread (created by Ritalin) with all the info how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745345 - there may be one already created that's perfect for you.
It's a very easy process. It is a bit time consuming changing the font size if you don't get it right the first time cause you have to do it over and over till you get the size right.
Thanks for the thread, I appreciate it.

Font size smaller

Is there an easy way to change the stock font size to a smaller one?
I am not talking about changing LCD density, I don't want all the apps and widgets messed up.

Wow not one person can help a bro out?

Try the font size option in Spare Parts basic settings

Or try font changer from the market and change your font to alex. I hate these massive fonts too.

Spare parts just works on OG Droid and within app itself. But thanks for idea.
And I would like to know if or more where it sets it in the code. I changed a .ttf on PC swapped it in system fonts folder and created a custom rom and it still came in the same size so must be code setting it to default size.

Or you can change your screen density. But everything goes smaller. Depends on how much you put it.
Screen density normal is 240
Smallest is 190 (still readable)

App to make text and possibly icons bigger

Hi all
Just got the mini pro. It's brilliant but cause of fab resolution everything especially text is very small and hard to see and read.
Can anyone pls recommend an app that increases text size, maybe icons too.
Or is it possible to decrease the screen resolution?
Thanks

Hi.
If you're a Root User, you could change some values in your build prop related text size.
Otherwise, you could use UOT kitchen and change your font size and your framework's icons.
Please correct me me if i'm wrong, or even if there's a shorter way way to do it.
Bye
Thanks for your reply mate
Im not a developer im afraid. Im happy to root if needed and looking for recommended apps that either increase text size or decrease resolution
Ones known to work well with mini pro

Try an app called "Spare Parts" available on Android Market - there's a free (ad supported) version. It includes an option to adjust font sizes - no rooting or modding required. It's not "global" but it may help with menus and some other items.
I've just tried it with the SK17i - worked fine. Not tested over any length of time so can't say if it is the ideal solution for you.
Thanks very much trying it now!

My dell streak did not show the tiny fonts

The Streak had a crap resolution compared to the Note. Amazon just needs to update their app store.
Change your dpi to 340. Hit thanks if I helped you

How do I do this? Can I change it back and for easily? Can I change it for just one app? Is 340 the correct dpi for our device?
There is no way to change the font size. Interestingly, the tablet mode only started with a later update to the appstore. Also for whatever reason it runs in 'phone mode' on ics
Go into your build.prop and scroll down. You will see default is set at 320. Change it above that
I wouldn't change your lcd density ...it will mess up other apps...including phone app...some will look funny or be off aligned....

for example I just did it to show u at 340 dpi ...it cut my pure grid calander top off on widget...

[How To] Change bubbles and font size in sms app...

This was brought up in the Q&A section, so I thought I would post this here. This tip applies to the stock text messaging app:
Pinch the screen in either direction within a text conversation and it will either increase or decrease the bubbles and font size.

The one thing I dislike about the phone, the SMS/MMS app...its soooo iPhone Cartoony!!! can't stand it lol. Using slide messaging pro so I dont have to stare at the default.
I really like the pop-ups on stock SMS so I'm still using that.. mainly bc they don't interrupt what you're doing. I use glowfly on all my phones as sms pop-ups, but if I'm watching a video it pauses the video and takes priority... stock SMS doesn't. it's like a mini q slide app. I like it.

ah, thank you!
I looked everywhere for this
Textra has been working very well for me. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the look of the stock SMS app

Problem I have is even pinched out to smallest size and using smallest font in settings, the stock messaging app text is *huge*! Just switched to using Chomp SMS & works much better.
