[Q] Can't ping to a device while in sleep mode? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I'm trying to access my device (Xperia) via wifi network.
(I'm running sshd on the device.)
When I ping to the device, it responds normally for awhile.
But the device doesn't respond after a few minutes. A screen is blanked.
And, when I press any hardware key, it responds again for awhile.
The screen stays deactivated if the key was not a home key...
I think this behavior is to reduce a battery consumption,
but how can I disable it?
I already changed a setting "Wi-Fi sleep policy" to "Never".
This doesn't happen when USB cable is connected.
Regardless, a "Stay awake" option is not enabled.
And, I can't test it via 3G network, because my 3G network is behind a NAT...
So I can't figure out which part causes the behavior. WiFi?, Xperia?, or Android?
Does anyone know it?
Thanks!

Keep wifi awake during standby?

I tried to enable this feature in KaiserTweak and although it says the wifi is still on, it often cuts out and then does not function properly until I do a soft reset. Does anyone have a solution for keeping the wifi on during standby that works a little better?
Thanks!
DCD3.2.2
Radio 3.42.02
Pocket Toolman has that feature and it works.
I tried it and it appeared to be working for awhile but I've noticed that if I press the power button to put the phone into the standby when I resume the wifi says it is still connected but is in fact no longer functioning. All my internet-enabled applications disconnect and the browser doesn't work. Even when I move out of range of my access point the same access points remain in the available networks list. If I turn my wifi on and off and try to connect to another access point it never connects and an error pops up saying so. The wifi doesn't work until I do a soft reset.
If I do NOT enable the option to keep wifi active during sleep then all my internet-enabled apps disconnect when the phone is put in standby but the wifi continues to work properly when I resume the phone from standby...
I am running phoneAlarm. Could this cause some issues with it?
My current profile is set as "Do not change" for wifi though so I wouldn't think it would cause any issues...

Help: Wifi not connecting

Since Yesterday my wifi hasnt been working. It just randomly stopped connecting and im not sure why. It askes me for my network code and when i type it it (exactly how it is) it says network key incorrect and wont work. and when im at my friends house whhere there is no need for a network key, it says that IE cannot display the page. Also it keeps trying to dial out verizon broadband when my wifi switch is on. Isnt it not supposed to do that?
Just because the Wifi switch is on does not mean the wireless is enabled. Have you tried using the connection management button (the one just below the power button) to bring up the connectons screen nd make sure that WLAN is enabled and it's not in flight mode or anything.
Also go to Start > Settings >Connections > Wireless LAN
Check the MAIN Tab.. you should see all the fields filled in and a signal Quality Meter.
The ADVANCED Tab will show your IP and Status..
That should help you determine if you are really are connected.
yes my wifi is enabled in the connections manager. and in the settings it does not show that i am connected to a network.
when you search for wireless networks, do you SEE yours? or are you entring it manually?
yes i see mine. It pops up to notify me and asks for my Network key. and when i enter it it tells me its wrong but i know its not beacause i was looking right at the linksys network on my home computer.
I seem to remember there being an issue with WPA keys at some point.
Try removing the security from the access point... then try to connect. (I'm not suggesting this as a perminent fix, just to see if it's a problem connecting, or a problem with the encryption. Turn the Security back on after the test.)
I know you tested at a friends.. but try this anyway. If you can connect ok, then you have an encryption issue... if you still cant, you have an issue with the wireless itself.
what ROm / Radio do you have?
What kind of security do you use? WEP? / WPA-PSK?
How Long is your key?
Yes i think its my encryption becasue i went to work today (A campground) and connected to their unsecured network right away. My friends internet is always messed up anyway.
I am using DCD 3.2.5 ROM
and radio 3.42.50
Its a WEP Encryption and the code is 10 characters long

Any way to turn off screen WITHOUT lose Wifi or 3G-USB connectivity ?

Hi my friends,
Im using a dropad a8x as my Cardroid, and i want to access it by wifi or 3G while the car is parked.
The problem is, if the screen goes off i lose all my connectivity, this includes both 3G and Wifi.
Is there a way to shutdown the screen but NOT lose the connections ?
Thanks for the help.
I didn't want to leave with replying,
Go to wifi/setting policy and change it to never. (Go to wifi settings and press menu and you will get the options)
Sorry, I can't be more clearly than this, no time for explaining.
eventual you have to activate "best wlan performance" (anything like this) in the same menu.
Well, thats already set
But when i push the button to turn off the screen it loose both 3G and Wifi connection.

Wifi Keeps Dropping

Connected to home network, I keep the wifi on my S3 on all the time and it seems to be connected (from the icon in the top bar) but there is no data connectivity.
I have to manually switch wifi off then back on for the internet connection to start working again. This is the case after waking the phone up, and also just when the wifi has been on for longer than a few minutes even when the phone is in use.
Keep Wifi on during sleep is set to ALWAYS.
Does anyone know if this is a common s3 problem or is it specific to my device, and are there any fixes?
Thank you.

How to determine which app is constantly toggling my wifi on and off?

Something on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) is constantly toggling the wifi on and off every few seconds, which is rapidly draining the battery. If I leave the wifi connection page open, I can actually see the switch toggling itself from "off" to "on" and back (here's a video of what I'm seeing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcEIOd94VQU) This only happens when I have wifi turned off - If I leave it turned on and connected to a network, it's fine and the battery drain doesn't occur. I uninstalled a bunch of network-related apps that I thought might be causing it such as iPass and Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, but it's still happening.
I tried "adb logcat" and got this log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9aeibwz80tk9ix/wifi2.log?dl=0. I see a bunch of "Iface wlan0 link up" and "Iface wlan0 link down" so obviously something is going on, but I can't see any clues as to which app is causing it.
Any advice as to what I should look for, short of uninstalling every single app on my phone? Note that this is my employer-provided work phone and I'm not allowed to root it.
Thanks!
