I connected my HD2 to my laptop using activesync, then when I opened explorer on the PC to go to the /StorageCard directory, found that it wasn't there. So, I tried exploring to the directory in the HD2, but found that it couldn't see the card. I've shutdown the phone, taken out the MicroSD card, and hooked the MicroSD card up directly to my laptop, and it appears just fine, and I can copy/write to the card without issues. I've tried cleaning the contacts, and putting it back in the phone, but the HD2 still doesn't see the card.
Anyone else have this happen to them before? Any hints on what else I can try?
BTW, it's a Kingston 16GB MicroSD card, and it's been working reliably without any issue until today.
Right.. I tried putting in a newly formatted 2GB MicroSD card, and the HD2 was able to see it without problem. So I'm now backing up stuff from my 16GB Kingston MicroSD, and will probably re-format it to see if that will help.. Just a big hassle having to backup/copy back almost 15GB of stuff from the card..
During the backup process, there were a few files on the MicroSD that couldn't be read, so, could it be that the card is going bad?
OK. Finally finished backing up the MicroSD card, and reformatted it. After reformatting, the HD2 now SEEs the newly formatted card, I only have to copy stuff back onto the card, then I'm done..
I'll probably end up going out to buy a new card tomorrow as it's pretty obvious from today's "adventure" that this card is probably on its way out. Oh well, now that I have the data backed up, it should be relatively painless.

I lost my 8GB Card few days back. Lost all the data... Atleast your card was readable on PC. Anyways good that you got your data back..

i have had to reformat my card once because I accidently removed my phone from the PC without using "safely remove hardare" (aka right click and select eject) feature. formatted the card and restored from backup and all is well again.
Done! Copied files from backup to 16GB MicroSD, and the HD2 sees it.
There were altogether 4 unreadable/corrupted files from the MicroSD card when backing it up, but fortunately, none of these files were irreplaceable, luckily, as all these were MP3 songs, which I also have other copies on my laptop.
Tomorrow, I will take a look to see how much the new Sandisk 32GB MicroSD card is selling for here in Hong Kong. If it's not TOO expensive, I may end up buying one to replace the 16GB Kingston I'm using now. I remember reading somewhere that the HD2 is supposed to be compatible with up to 32GB, but has anyone actually tried the new Sandisk 32GB card in an HD2?
I've had a similar issue with my 16 GB Sandisk card. Strangely, my old TyTn II could read it absolutely fine - but my HD2 couldn't :/
Only way i found to fix it was to format it, then copy all the stuff back.
It's happened twice now and it's pretty annoying!

I've been using a 32Gb Sandisk since June this year, with no problems. I've got about 27Gb on the card.

Ok. So I read another thread where someone was having SD card problems, but they're not the same as what's happening to me.
The microSD slot is working fine. I have an 8gb class 4 in there.
The dock SD slot isn't working right. I have a 32gb class 10 in it.
Symptoms:
If I pull the card from the dock and transfer files to it, it seems to be functional. However if I connect the dock via USB cable I am unable to transfer files to/from it...it's almost like the SD card is losing connection with the tablet. Anyone else had an issue with the dock's SD card slot?
Is the SD card actually OK? How long have you had it? I bought one when I bought my TFP a few weeks ago. Worked fine with my PC but not in the TFP. It was a Sandsk 32gb. There is a link on Sandisk's site to a test utility (not theirs). It reported the card as 'faulty'. Actually, it was a fake. Full refund later and I bought one elsewhere. That worked.

Yeah, I've used a couple of different cards. I have a Patriot 32gb class 10 that I know to be good, and it's fresh out of the box. Already reformatted it and checked for errors before I posted.
I'm having problems with my dock's sd card slot also. I've tried a 2GB card, 1GB card, and a 4GB micro sd+adapter. None of them worked. The transformer doesn't seem to "see" them at all. No 'preparing storage' message, nothing appears in file manager, no sign of the sd card at all. They all work in my laptop. I've tried FAT, FAT32, and NTFS but no luck.
I've tried 2 different USB flash drives and they both worked fine. I just purchased the dock a couple weeks ago, and the transformer a couple months ago (serial B80*)
Is anyone else having the issue where the SD Card randomly unmounts itself and then remounts? I have already wiped and reformatted the card with the Note2 but the issue is still present. any solutions or answers?
I have the Tmobile version, but I have the same issue. I even did a full format of the card on my pc, but it made no difference. The card sort of works, but sometimes instead of the 'preparing sd card' I get the 'blank or unrecognized file system', and then I have to wait for the phone to go to sleep. It will usually wake up and recognize the card then, but all links to files on the card are broken. FYI, my card is a SanDisk 32GB Class 4. I tried an older 8GB card and did not have the issue, but then again, my 32GB card worked for a month with no issues. Very perplexed.

I do not remember reformatting mine before putting stuff on it. If you can, try testing another card or putting yours in another device to see if it's the card itself.
I had a 32GB Class 6 Sandisk Ultra, which was also used and worked perfectly in my GS3.
I went to my verizon store had my phone replaced.. threw the SD card back in, and it still had the issue. Put a normal 16 GB SD card in it, haven't had the issue yet. So I guess somewhere in the process of switching between my GS3 and the Note2 the card somehow got corrupted or broke??
Looks like I'll be buying a 64GB class 10 card soon lol

I have the s3 for T-Mobile so hope this is the right forum. I have a SanDisk mobile ultra 64gb sd card. Everything was working fine until I took the card out and put it in the mytouch 4g. The mytouch mounted the card and gave a message saying the card is damaged. I took the card and put it back in the s3 and I got the same message on there. I now the card is not damaged. When the card was brand new and empty the mytouch would not recognize it as 64 gb but only 28gb or so. When I put it in the s3 I just formatted it and it showed up just fine. I also put the card in a tablet and a Windows pc nothing seems to read the card anymore. I have about 40gb of data on there and I need to read it. PLEASE someone tell me how to do this I really need the data from it. All I did is put the card in a different phone this should not wipe my data or damage my card. Ill take any advice thank you

Have had no problems with other handsets with these same two cards. Thanks to Verizon, my phone is bone stock. I'm thinking my handset has a bad card slot. Opinions?

Also had this problem have you tried formatting it via twrp and through settings (erase sd card) it works for me, for now
I would say it's probably a bad slot. I haven't had any issues with my XT1527 with a 32GB card. I've also had the card in and out and done various custom partitions like fat32+ext4 without any data loss or corruption.

Sadly I have the Verizon variant, I'm not eligible for the unlock program. My bootloader is locked down like a prison, so TWRP isn't an option.
I'm going with the bad slot diagnosis. My handset will have to serve as is until after the holidays, then I can justify replacing it.

have you tried formatting it through system setting? setting>storage>erase sd card, it works for my 32gb strontium, in my case i think it's faulty. Don't forget to back-up your files
I had a 32gb card that was used for ages and i think it got worn out and died.
over time it would disappear on me more and more when inserted in my Moto-E.
I had pulled it from a Galaxy S3 way back..
I used to have it scanned all the time with Kaspersky..
This caused it to get read in full every single time i put it into a PC.
I am suspicious that caused excessive wear and tear on it.
bought a new one but 16gb this time and it's working fine now.
main reason i got it was to put my MP3's on the card.
My old one kept having the music vanish and a prompt would come up asking to format it or it would simply vanish.. only for it to show back up and be fine later after restarting etc.
not sure if this is the same problem as you guys but i figured hey i might as well mention my story
i got tired of trying to reformat it via different methods or using different partition types and i simply gave up tinkering with it and bought a new one.
the new on has not given me a problem once.
Has any one had issues with types of SD card this device takes? I've put in a 16 gig class ten sandisk ultra SD card and it works fine. I recently bough a 128gig SD card integral Class 10 and after a couple of hours of working fine it comes up with SD card removed. Ive sent the card back and got a new 128 gig card but the same happens. I have read this phone can support 256gig so is there a certain type of card it needs? The card works fine in a PC.
Any help would be great.

Late reply but I've only had mine a week and it does the same. I suspect it doesn't like SDXC cards in certain speeds...testing is ongoing.

Did you Format it using the Phone ?
And did you remount it after. ?
