Hi.
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764268 ,
are my two cents' worth about bad behaviour of battery indicator.
Is it possible to change existing battdrv.dll driver to other version ( if exists of course ) without new ROM cooking ? Previously I utilized Novembre5 ROM, now ffboy WM 6.1 ROM.
In system registry driver description concerning battery driver, one can change "dll" value to any other than battdrv.dll but I guess so that new driver worked ok, it must be non XIP'ed.
Have You any idea ?

i have compare in my ROMs 6.1 , 6.5, 6.5.3 and 6.5.5 all has the same driver with 21 kB. And you can a driver from ROM not change wihout cooking.
The difference make the OS Version. All has as basis kernel 5.2. the best adaption is for 6.1 then 6.5.3 and 6.5.5 and then for 6.5. with wm 6.1 you have the best performance and battery time - BUT this is not all. important thing is also the UI. SPB Mobile Shell unload the battery very fast. HTC SENSE is little better. the best is "old6.1Style" or Titanium- bat wath helps if is not user friendly.
fact is for a powerCPU is the capacity with 1100 mAh to low. new devices has 1300 - 1500 mAh.

mirlog, I do not consider what eats energy more or less. I say about bad battery driver behaviour ( can not see other guilty ) so it is strange nobody reports the same I noticed taking into account battery driver is the same for all WM versions as You mentioned.
It seems driver remeber only difference in voltage ( and in one direction - lowest level ) not current level.

I second miro's reply.
I have noticed it's more or less likely the UI which will affect the battery behaviour. Don't know how the driver will change anything as 6.1 > 6.5 in terms of battery saving, but again has same driver! So same driver behaves differently - meaning it's the rom that changes cpu usage which in turn changes battery behaviour.
What I have noticed is 'clean rom' (6.1 or 6.5.x) + titanium or basic WinMo UI = the best battery usage - I have had days when with plenty of calls and texts, I don't charge my tg01 till next morning or even late afternoon!
when I use 'cooked rom' + spb/sense = the battery usage is terrible. By end of one evening, I am there sitting and charging my tg01!

may be newer hardware(of htc-touch) is battery efficient not the wm6 , means we will never have efficient wm6 in case of battery for prophet ,or it doesn't use same chipset to control functions ,so software can't do much other than displaying nice clean icons and touch interface cubes ,while our hardware being old consumes power much more than new chipset used in htc-touch
only option then left will be to make dualbootable boot loader ,which would give us open option to choose between wm5 and wm6
Hi.. I just bought an MWg ATOM life... the picture is not exactly the same, but I suppose I can use the O2 XDA Atom files to upgrade right??
PDAVIET_WM61_ROM_OS19209_PP6M
thanks for the help
Absolutely no. Atom Life is a 624 Mhz processor powered-PDA; Atom is a 416 MHz device. Atom Life is 3g Radio equipped....... Atom is only a GPRS device.
Avoid to flash Atom ROMs on Atom Life.......... you 'll risk a general freeze and make the device unusable.
On this room you can find several Atom Life WM 6.1 ROMs. Use only them for flashing your PDA.
Actually I bought a MWG Atom Life and am successfully running PDAViet's rom so

I bought Mwg Atom Life about a week. It works perfect. no hanging no fast battery drain. no memory leakage . It works perfectly. What is the improvement in PV onofficial rom?(more efficient battery or more free ram?or improve speed!!) Is it worth a try?
If it is only threated sms and task manager it's not worth a dime for me. I also have a O2 xda atom and upgraded it to wm6.1 and familiar about thease two features.
THX
thanks.. you just saved me from a loaner bricked device!!

Thank you for your information.
I already knew what is threaded sms is. but for me it is worthless specially when there is dosens of freeware and software that do the same as threaded sms.
My main question is : If you have a mwg atom life whithout any problem is it worth the rist to update to a buggy unofficial rom or its just threaded sms and thats all?
no offence to the cooker but even best unofficial ROMs have big problems!!
Personnally I had freezing problems with the last WM6 official ROM from O2... Now I have upgraded to the last ROM version of Medkid and so far I'm perfectly happy, I don't have freeze problems anymore!
Also the Java midlets application is way better... I also like the HTC today screen, which you obviously don't have with the official ROM...
tnx for your answer.
while i have no proplem with freezing and don't need to run java midlets there is no diffrence between them? (speed? free ram)
htc home plugin can be downloaded(.cab file is everywhere)
Hi everybody,
I'm searching for a WM 6 ROM with a very low battery consumption. Nowadays, My S200 has SpeedKing ROM, but I think it drains a lot of battery (I have to recharge it every day).
Does anyone knows a stable-low consumption ROM?
One more thing... It is possible to upgrade the ROM using Windows Vista or Ubuntu Linux? I already don't have XP in any of my computers
Thanks!

GO TRY 1d ORIGINAL or Diamond roms from VaranusVincent..
I'll try it.
Thank you very much
i'd suggest micro v3.3 as wm6 by inteks(or smt like that ) and my bubbles 2 as wm6.1 by varanusvincent
I have flashed below ROM
Manilla 2D PV edition by hoangan123 (+ 4mb pp version[26mb ram+m2d])
Prophet ROM diamond pro v1.2 CE OS 5.2.19971 (Build 19971.1.2.6 H.AN)

I think it give a good battery life with this rom.
3 Hours with 1 percent reduce when in standby mode.

I hope this the right place for that question / poll ...
What is the best "working" rom at that moment (may 2010)?
Not the best looking rom but the rom with best performance and fewest problems.

absolutely properly! FFBOY2009 make great work
of course : novembre5 ROM works fine and its near to zero bugs
for best looking is FFboy's sense beta2 very nice and very stabil
I would recommend arag0n85's Debranded Orange..
You get all the stability of the official rom, but all of the unnecessary rubbish is gone.
I have tried a few of the cooked roms now, but find that none are as good for GPS (using GPSModDriver) and no ActiveSync problems, unlike all the others I have tried.
I use Mobile Shell 3.5.4 and Phone Suite 1.2 (I don't like the current version) The beauty of Phone Suite is that it allows me to have the phone power down at night and start automatically in the morning. A real bonus for battery life.
i've had the novembre5 clean Rom 3 running for a few weeks, and it`s solid.
Huge performance increase and zero crashes or lockups
FFBOYS_ROM_WM61_21057 works great. On Boot 110 MB RAM free

Run by me with spbMobileShel 3.5.4 + Mobile Sense theme. Have then 87 mb free RAM. Absolutely solidly and bugfree
toshiba 5005.0001.76
i think, the best rom is the official one. i have tried all custom build roms and each of them has some issues. i noticed some problems with graphics in different programs, problems with gps, sound and even if u have 90 mb of ram after restart, you are usually at 50-60 after while anyway and that is same amountof memory as the original one has. i have to say those guys made good job to produce those roms, but i still think the official rom is the most stable one there. i use spb3.5 so i don`t care about bigger buttons so much.
or
i just installed FFBOY`S 6.1 rom and i must admit it looks great, fast, plenty of memory, i didn`t notice any bugs. i`m gonna test it for a while and maybe this one will be my favourite..;-)

under settings/ personal is ordinarily menu INPUT available. but in your ROM
is this empty. I have corrected this: HKLM\ControlPanel\Input\Restrict
deleted Restrict. After reset is under settings/ personal menu INPUT available.
FFBOYS 6.1 is the best very clean fast stable
FFBOYS beta 2 if you want with manila sense.. very stable too
Novembre5 if you want clean 6.5
Malaysian rom for standard Toshiba rom.. very good gps.
Hi guys.
I want to cook a rom for my device because I want to pass from Windows Mobile 6 to Windows Phone 7.
My phone can do this because has High Resolution Touchscreen (WVGA).
But it's Landscape... I don't know if this is a problem (I think no).
How can I cook a W.P. Rom?
Thanks
afaik, you will need to build a bootloader that can load wp7.
and afaik, only the legendary HD2 got wp7 using magldr bootloader (thanks Cotulla!) and toshiba tg01 (thanks Nokser?)
HD2 forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531
TG01 forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=572
and btw, there are no open source bootloaders for wp7, so i think it will be almost impossible to do, unless you have supernatural bootloader knowledge. and the device's specs should be similar to wp7 devices (at least cpu qsd8250, like other devices) so that drivers work, else it would become more impossible
Thanks Gilbert32, but I think is possible to use WP 7 on my device.
I have a Toshiba Portege G910 with a 400 mhz cpu and on Youtube I've seen a guy that have inserted Android on a Toshiba G900 (very similar to my device and with the same cpu).
Windows Phone is faster and stable than Android, so it's really possible to port WP on my device.

Even if we forget for a moment about the need to write custom bootloader and your absolutely miserable XIP address space (consists of 2 slots) - your 400 MHz is a pain in ass even for WM 6.5. I know this because I cooked 6.5 for 400 MHz device...... It was not good even when I overclocked CPU to 520.
WP7.x is sometimes lagging even on my wife's Mozart (1000 MHz, Scorpion). So - try to imagine how it can work on your 400 MHz. WP is pretty acceptable on my Titan - fluent and fast. But not less. But ok....
WP on your WM6 device is impossible even after years and years of attempts.
Ok AndrewSh.
But I want to cook a WM 6.5 or 6.5.5 rom for my device.
What do you think about it? I have read that WM 6.5 hasn't devolped well and is even slower than older older WM versions...

I have only Asus P525 experience - I mean using WM6.5.x instead of stock WM6.0. So I would say - device will be fully usable if you don't cook in Titanium interface. If you decide to cook in Titanium - overclocking to 520 MHz makes device also usable. But for sure - no way to use Manila or whatever - device starts and works but..... It's just for fun. Besides - you should explore OEMXip - try to find modules that you can move to IMGFS without harm.
Of course - optimized WM6.0 would work faster on your device than 6.5.x.
Probably I will cook a WM 6.1 rom... without touchflo, manila and other programs (if you say me that slow down the device).
I have seen devices 2 with WM 6.5 and customization programs, they are very fast, but they have 528 mhz processors, maybe I will overclocking my device...
You are very good about this things, I can already cook, but how can I cook in my language? No one can help me, here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262838
IMO, using the HD2 and after trying wp7 and wm6.1->6.5.x, the fastest was 6.1 (without manilla/touchflo), 6.5 even without sense was a bit slow. wp7 is more fluid but definitely slower after installing many programs.
how to cook in your own language... can't help. sorry
Thank you anyway gilbert... (I also think 6.1 is the best )
I hope that other xda members will help me...(especially cooks not-english)
I understand english but italian is my mother language and I want to use it
Cool
Oh no!
I discovered that probably I can not even cook Windows Mobile ROMs for my device. (always the bootloader...)
