Thanks,

You've probably already found out your answer, but for those finding your post like I did looking for the answer...
Try pressing the volume up button and then the power button.

So I want to to root my Vibrant but I can't...Every way I tried it needed to reboot my vibrant to recovery didn't work...
I tried GS Tweaker, ONeSuperClick, rom manager, terminal emulator.....
I got my update.zip file into my SD card but Im stuck with the rebooting thing
I tried all the ways of rebooting: the manual rebooting, Android SDK application... everything thing, I spent the whole day finding ways, watching videos and reading from vibrant wiki..
So what I reached to yesterday is:
while I was talking to one of the pro of android in one of the chat room somewhere, he said maybe because my phone needs "hardware updating" that the buttons can't reboot something like that (since I'm not in the states and I cant get OTA updates from T-mobile)... so I need to download ODIN and find Samsung drivers...
can anyone help me in this please?
try http://www.akaskriller.com/free/flashing.php
there are some files that you may need to ODIN. good luck, hope it works out.

ok....thats weird
first try pulling out your battery.....then put it back in...then hold both volume buttons while you turn it back on w/ the power button....when the black samsung screen pops up let them go...the phone should go into the stock 2e recovery...
if you still want the drivers then here you go ....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Odin and a nice guide on how to use it can be found here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028

After countless hours of searching for answers on how I could get ClockworkMod and the problems I have been having with getting into recovery mode on my LG NITRO HD for about a month Ive decided and hoped that if I post on XDA developers that someone might be able to help me figure out how to get my phone to enter recovery mode.
Ive had my phone for a few months and Ive been trying to root my phone so I can get CM9. I was successful at rooting my device and I have SU access. I downloaded a root explorer and I downloaded a terminal emulator from the Android Market.
The first thing I tried was:
Search for ROM Manager in the Market (free or paid) and install the app.
Open the ROM Manager application and select Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
Click on LG Nitro HD and then give the app root permission if it prompts you.
If it hangs after that and freezes up, just allow the app to Force Close. Then open it back up and repeat steps 2 & 3.
Once the flash was successful, you should see a dialog box that says "Successfully flashed ClockworkMod recovery!".
Press OK.
The ClockworkMod Recovery should now be installed on the LG Nitro HD.
Okay thats great because it tells me that it is successful but when I try to enter recovery I get:
Enter the fastboot...
Enter the fastboot...
Long time no see!
Then after that I tried the Terminal Emulator, it ran some script for a while one time, that it actually looked like it may have worked, but when I took the battery out and I tried holding down the power+volumedwn key it will go back to the enter the fast boot long time no see but it will have moved down to the bottom of the screen.
...I am no expert at this and I have done so much research on it I almost want to quit, but I want CM9 so badly that I will try and try until something works. Every bit of information that I have found has been unhelpful and very confusing and hard to understand. I would very much appreciate if anyone else knew where I would be able to find the steps to resolve this issue so I can finally get into recovery mode.
...XD Thanks -Shannon
In the same boat.

I figured this one out a long time ago.. I can send you snaps of the device. I will need to figure out whatever procedure i had used to do this. Than i will post. Or nvm I remember it was a bad micro usb port on my phone. Try a new usb chord and if that does not work, than send it to samsung to repair, or replace your broken charging port, they just go bad after awhile.. its a bummer, but my note is running great now.
Alright Folks,
I have exhausted my search skills and probably messed up somewhere...Could use some guidance.
Background: I was updating a Slimrom and something went wrong on my end and I got stuck at Samsung boot screen. (Coulldn't get into recovery at all) I got to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 and followed the guide using ODIN and everything. Phone boots up but the back and search keys weren't working. Was able to make and receive calls but both parties couldn't hear each other. At this point I thought I should try rooting and get into recovery. I tried rooting using various methods ( DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0](zergRush Exploit), [1-Click Root][Video Tutorial][No Odin required]) but they didn't work and I was unable to get into recovery again.
I was glad that something is working. Its not a paperweight, yet. So then I thought this is the software for 9100 I should try getting stock to i777's software.
So after that I followed Entropy's Return/Unbrick to Stock, Kernel + Rooted System Package with Modem using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows). Works fine ODIN says PASS. Boots with At&t logo and gets to "Touch android to begin" but when i touch it nothing happens. Couple pop ups appear time after time. "The application google services framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" Also about Synchronization and calender. I tried to search but can't seem to find anything Useful.
I can get into download mode only.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you've actually searched, because it's been said s few times already that you have to boot into recovery and factory reset.

Thanks for the reply Nick. I did see that but thats the problem I am not able to get into recovery. The button combos are not working (Holding vol up, down and power until samsung screen comes on second time OR holding vol up, down and power and once screen comes on letting go of the power button)(from power down state, of course). I've tried multiple times. I did make a nandroid on my ext sd card before I flashed so if I could just get into clockwork recovery I would've tried restoring to that. I did read that there is an android recovery as well...I couldn't get into that either (I think).
Edit: I just tried it again and the Samsung screen comes on the second time but instead of going into recovery it goes to At&t boot screen and then to "touch android screen".
PS. I guess I should have stated clearly that I am unable to get into recovery for some reason. See, it was all making sense in my head when I writing the OP but I guess the point didn't get across. I wanted to be concise and precise. But I guess now the issue is more clear.

The only thing I can think of at this point then is maybe trying to use adb
Sent from my Zanpakuto using Getsuga Tensho!
Check out my signature. You can unzip the portable adb on your pc and try the reboot_recovery file. This will only work if your machine can detect your phone and you have the right drivers.

Worked like a charm. Restored to stock with root. Flashed a kernel with cwm. Flashed new ROM (to update to latest Cwm). Restored last backup. This bad boy is up and running like new. Thanks to all you folks.

Hi everyone! As stated in the title my phone(p769) wont boot completely, I was in the middle of doing the bootloader unlock when I accidecntly replaced the bin during the root process of it with the wrong bin. Instead of replacing it with the v6 tmobile usa one I used the v5 canadian one. Now when I boot my phone up the lg screen is there and then eventually it just hits an android with a red exclamation point. I've tried Re-flashing while its in s/w upgrade mode with the flasher set to emergency, and Ive tried pressing the home button + vol down + power to no avail(it goes through the process but the same thing happens)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance!
Edit: Also when I try to reflash, it just says it cant communicate with my phone. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times but seeing as how I cant acutally get into the phone Im not sure what else to do.
Edit 2: So ive been trying do something witht his for the past three hours and I cant get anywhere with it. I cant get the phone to show up as an adb device while its in s/w upgrade mode, and at the red exclamation point screenit shows up but as recovery and the lg tools fail to communicate with it. I would really appreciate if anyone knew how to deal with this.
Just in case anyone stumbles upon this and has the same issue I would like to say that i finally got mine fixed.
It has been a long day of frustrations but I finally got it there with the help of some awesome tutorials.
In order to fix it I had to fastboot my phone and flash the default loader and boot then my device would show up in my adb devices and I could sucessfully flash and root it.

I followed the fastboot tutorial and searched around in the help forum for people with similar issues and found a post where lelus posted both of the files I needed to flash with fastboot, from there I just put my phone in s/w upgrade mode and followed Lelus guide for root/flash
Hi there,
New to the forum here... so I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong section.
Anyways, I'm brand new to rooting and I think I messed up my device bad.
So I was trying to install cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-m8 to my HTC One M8.
Yes, I also installed/flashed whatever the term is for it too. They where both successful installs.
I went threw the setup process for CyanogenMod, and noticed my Sim Card wasn't being read.
I panicked, (lol I'm such a nooby) and I tried to reset my phone from my previous backup.
However, it apparently FAILED, and I was foolish enough to hit "reboot" anyways. A messaged soon after
popped up saying "your phone is not rooted... root it?" when before it was already rooted. My phone then
restarted and now is in this ENDLESS loading screen. Here is an image I found off Google (Sadly I can't take a screenshot of my phone...lol)
but this is what screen it is stuck on. Also, I can NOT get into safe boot. I've tried. No dice. I am starting to worry now. =/ Please let me know if there is
ANY fix to this or if I just permanently broke my phone... I should of just stayed away from rooting, but CyanogenMod looked so cool and I obviously failed at installing it. =/

Boot into your bootloader by powering off and then holding the power and volume down. Then select "fastboot" and run an RUU.

However, I already tried that method before, but luckily...
I tried the power button+volume button up and it reset it and I was able to load it
back into fast boot!
