[Q] 32g sd card performance issue - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i bought a sandisk 32g card off amazon to replace my 16g card with the aim of putting more music on it. perhaps foolishly i went from around 2g to 14g of music using media player to sync. although it appeared to work with all filed transfered im having some performance issues.
putting the 5mins it takes to build the library aside, ive noticed that i get choppiness and skipping in tracks. i tried a soft reset which cleared the problem but now im getting the same choppiness in coreplayer.
ive noticed in processes audio manager takes up 20m.
im going to try reverting back to 4g of music to see whether its a sd card issue, otherwise any advice? is it unrealistic to have that amount of music installed (sorry if thats obvious!)
im on a stock rom although i have cht 1.8 installed

If you bought it from Komputerbay on Amazon, most of their 32Gb cards seem to be fakes or poor quality cards.
If you bought it from them, return it for a refund.
I'm looking into buying one on Amazon as well, but when I came across the nightmare stories I eased away from those guys.

what class is the card? class 2 is borderline for HD2 from what I have seen.

i had major problems when i shoved 30G of music to go on holiday, cut back since ive came home but there is a thread here with all the tweeks to make it work. I could leave mine searching all night and it still couldnt play anything.

Was from a company called qtech - I only bought from Amazon as heard about fakes on ebay! Class 2 card. Wasnt sealed though.
On my issues, I tried it again lunchtime and this evening - weird thing is everything seems to be working (music and video). I hadnt done anything to try and fix it, so not sure whats going on (i should have mentioned i was also streamling audio over bluetooth). Im going to keep it as it is to see whether it comes back.
I get the occasional glitch when playing music when something else is going on, but nothing major. Would appreciate others experience of size of audiomanger process so i can compare.
Ive read through many of audio posts here - i already have audio manager in start up. I havent tried the registry tweak (which seems sometimes to stop booting anyway). I also need to check whether I have the latest hotfix applied.

Some ebay sellers are beginning to sell their things on amazon now because of how amazon group things together. It is hard to tell which seller sells fake and which sells genuine. fake memory card is hard to detect unless you try saving things into all 32gb of space. Some fake card will only have 8 or 16gb of actual space...

It seems to have the right memory on it. Interestingly it started stuttering again in sense player this morning and occasionally stopping (suggests memory problem as i didnt do anything?). However, no problems in media player, so i guess its not the card. I did have a problem with one huge playlist which i have subsequently deleted, but doesnt seem to have helped. Official music player hotfix hasnt helped either. Guess i need to either switch player or lose some music...

Square Up?

Has anybody tried the square up Credit Card Reader on this tablet? SquareUp.com?
I can't get it to work, But the sound in my tablet is Screwed up anyway.
Running vegan beta 3 here, unable to get square to work either. G tab recognizes the reader, but it just keeps asking to swipe the card again.

Just an update to anyone curious, I hooked up headphones while running the square app on my phone, and get no audio - doing the same on the g tablet, I hear audio pops constantly. If we can't get square to work on this, we'll be exchanging it for a galaxy tab (which is really too bad, otherwise we love the g tablet!)

It doesn't work for me either, though I'm not really surprised. The kernels we're using on these tablets aren't exactly optimized for the hardware.
You shouldn't have any issues with the Galaxy tablet. Square works great with my Samsung Fascinate.
dumb questions... what do you use "square up" for?
Square is a CreditCard reader that plugs into the headphone jack. It's basically the end of checks! for example - if you are selling something on craigs list you can take a credit card as payment, instead of taking a check that could bounce.
If your kids are running a lemon-aid stand, they could take credit cards! no monthly fees, no start up costs - just 2.8% + 15cents for swiped cards
It's really pretty amazing considering a new credit card machine would normally costs thousands of dollars
Well, since time is running out I think we'll switch to the Galaxy Tab. And yeah, I'm running a Vibrant Galaxy S, and my partner has an Epic - but it's just more convenient to have our customers signing on something bigger than our phones
Yeah, if you have any need for it, Square is great. The card reader just uses audio, so it can (technically) work on anything with a 3.5mm jack, it doesn't even give me access to the credit card information after I've swiped the card (protecting the purchaser). It emails you a receipt if you'd like, which contains a google map of where you made the purchase at.
I hope to be back with another Viewsonic G Tablet at some time though, great piece of hardware, and hands down the best early android tab out there, and viewsonic seems really dedicated to it as well. Despite me having Samsung, they're not the best in keeping up with Android OS updates.

I am trying to load the Square up app on TNT lite but it won't show up in the market. Any idea how I need my device set up to make it appear?
I am not aware of any machine costing that much.
My cc reader / swiper at my busines cost a couple of hundred.
Never mind, did the market fix again and now it works.
Please report back if you can get the reader to work.
I forget the technical explanation for it, but someone on the Square forums explained it while the forums existed (they've since moved or disappeared, I have no idea).
Don't quote me on this, but it seems to be a hardware problem. The Square reader is compatible with phones/devices that have a certain number of conductor rings on a headphone jack (4?), as most commonly audio devices that use the same port have less rings.
I guess the extra ring enables Square to interface properly with their reader, so if the device/phone doesn't have the 4 rings, you'll encounter problems. Their website FAQ under "Is my device supported with Square?" (can't post outside links, sorry) hints at it being hardware compatibility, so those with incompatible hardware will have to either wait till they release an updated reader or some other method.
It needs the mic input in the headphone jack...thats where the input comes from.

Square Up
Square up works on my Motorola Xoom. Its pretty cool bought from Apple store. Paid 9.95. In side the box was a 10.00 gift card. I've used it twice all ready and it's great. they do the Pay-pal thing with making 2 deposits in to your checking account. The app is in the app store got it last night.
Mine works on my Droid X. Hadn't tried on my Gtab, probably will need it tonight though. I had trouble even getting the app until I switched to VeganGinger.
Will post later if it works or not.
Did you get Square Up to run on your G? I can't even get it to load on mine and I can't see it in the android market. What did you have to do to get it to install?

Question about cold effecting phone...

I currently live in Jersey City and I use my phone as my music player. Everytime I walk around outside to the train, stores, or where ever within 5 minutes my media player starts pausing and playing continuously. It stops playing completely most of the time then it comes back on a couple of minutes later. Pandora does the same. As soon as I walk back indoors it works fine. So I figure it has to be the weather. Any one else up north experiencing this??? Its been in the 20's and 30's here. Its really aggravating and I never experienced this before. Any insight would be appreciated
Bionix-V Powered Vibrant
Hmm I live in brooklyn ny and I also use my phone as a music player but I have never experience this. Maybe its your kernel or something, because my phone would freeze very often when I step out side while on am OC uv kernel but now im back on stock and its all good.

I'm in nacogdoches, Tx right now and its about 20 degrees...haven't had that problem yet...may wanna re-flash your ROM if the problem continues
What about your sd card? Could the sd card quality be an issue? My media player starts studdering after a few minutes, and I thought it was because I bought the cheapest sd card.
I have a Sandisk 8gb sd card and I'm running stock voodoo kernel. I think its odd though that i have no problems once so ever indoors its only when I'm outside as stated in my previous post. I'm going to move all my music off the external into the internal to see if that helps. Maybe the external sd card is getting too cold and causing it to do that, but why would pandora do that also
Are you using a bluetooth headset our a wired one? I get the skipping with the bt headset.

[Q] UK Razr owners a question for you

Did your phone come with a micro sd card?
If yes what size?
I am awaiting delivery of mine from Dialaphone (just been told they are out of stock) and need to know if I should get myself a shiny new memory card.
Cheers,
Ed
Got mine from Phones4u (yea, despite that retarded "the ring" tv ad) and there was no microSD
Thanks David, as Dialaphone is part of the same group a Phones4 U it looks like I am in need of a new card.
Has anyone found a better deal than this for a class 10 32gb card?
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/...tml?_$ja=tsid:11518|cat:23960650|prd:23960650
Also how are the headphone?
I am tempted to get these:

Cheers,

In my RAZR box I've found:
1. RAZR (strange, huh? )
2. Moto charger
3. Earphones (external)
4. Some manuals and wasted paper
Nothing else.
I'm actually using a Mustang Class10 32GB MicroSD and my SGS2 in-earphones (they're really good!) and I've also heard that 128GB MicroSD (SDXC) cards are working flawlessly in the RAZR (absolutely normal) but IMHO they cost too much. Who really needs 128GB in a phone?
I'm a dev and 32GB is simply okay.

Yep, can confirm that the UK Razr doesnt come with an SD card.
And the earphones.... id do some research first if you intend to use the remote on that pair that you linked to, ive got a pair of sony in earphones with remote and the Razr does not recognise any button clicks with em, ive tried all the apps i can find and nothing, even the earphones that come with the phone only seem to play and pause music, couldnt get them to FF or RW! The earphones that come in the box arent actually as awful sounding as id imagined (compared to some ive tried) but theres no way i could keep them in my ears for longer than a minute, that crappy foam rubbish thay have irritate the **** out of my ears, not even slightly comfortable.
Utterly baffling why my 19 month old Desire did music related stuff perfectly, yet this phone cant do a simple thing like play/pause/FF/RW via earphone remote.
Other than that i cant fault the phone, really enjoying it!

Many thanks for the conformation of the lack of sd card and the earphone problem. That is bizarre, I don't understand how a standard headphone socket can work for some but not others! Think I will wait until my Razr arrives and than take it work a walk around the Hi-Fi shops.

Music/Sound Skipping Problems on my New S3

Hi...
I have had my new Samsung Galaxy S3 for about 2 weeks, upgrading from the Samsung Europa, and I need to know if this is a known problem or there is something wrong with my phone.
I have had nothing but problems with playing music on my phone since I got it--which is one of my most primary uses for my phone. From the beginning it skipped during songs repeatedly (which I know aren't corrupt as they were and still do work perfectly fine on my Europa, which I never had any problems with), at first, I googled it, and tried turning off wifi when I listened to music and very briefly it improved. But quickly it started skipping again, and has only got worse, now, not only does it skip, it actually stops partway through every song and won't play the whole song. It sometimes plays a song and then stops even though it hasn't gotten to the end of a playlist. Now, I noticed that even playing Bejeweled, which has a very simple and repetitive soundtrack, it stutters on the soundtrack as well. I got so frustrated this morning because I couldn't listen to a full song without it stopping and refusing to re-start that I took my SDcard out and used my old Europa instead--which again, was just fine.
Is this a known problem with the S3? Did I get a lemon? I do not understand why a brand new phone should not be able to do something that my year and a half old and much less powerful Europa could do perfectly. I don't really want to try downloading a variety of other music players because I have been burned by "lemon" electronics products before, and that is basically like putting a bandaid on a wound and pretending it isn't there, when something clearly isn't working right. Any suggestions? Is this normal? Do I return it or is there something else I could try (that is not a band-aid solution).
I could be missing something as it is a new phone... I'm not new to Android or Samsung, but that does not mean I know all the ins and outs of the S3 either. I did see something about powersaving mode, and it is not on that.
Thanks very much for any help or advice you could give me, and please, if you have an S3 and you do not have this problem, let me know as well. Much appreciated!
Hi,
I just wanted to post that I'm also having this issue. It just started about 3 weeks or so ago while I was driving. I thought maybe it was because I was hitting bumps on the road or something but it also happened while listening at home. But it doesn't happen all the time which is why I can't pinpoint what the cause may be.
I downloaded the free trial of WinAmp and it worked ok for a little while but then it started doing it there too-not as frequent as the stock player but it did happen.
Anyway I'm hoping someone else might be able to help.

Try unmounting and re-mounting your SD card.
It may be an audio buffer issue, in which case try power amp, you can tweak the audio buffer size, and it has shown sound quality and features....free trial version on the market too.
skip mucis
Yeah I had that problem with a different android phone my HTC Thunderbolt. It tends to happen when I have the phone close to me. I can be wrong but I think it could be from the energy we throw off. I know it is silly but thats my opinion. I think it may be because of the way it is built. I never had that problem with any iPhone but only to android. The iPhone is is made of glass and most Android made out of plastic. If you fix your problem let me know. I like android phone and would like to know if it could be fixed.
hahaha
Panacea to audio skipping issues
I've had this issue ever since I bought the S3 (E210s).The only solution that I could find is via root. Root your phone, flash Siyah kernal and install CPU Governor app, and then just set the governor to OnDemand. That worked for me! Would probably do it for you too.

LG V60 (AT&T) Music Issues

Hi everyone and thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!
I hate to be one of those people who asks what might be stupid questions without having any technical expertise. But yeah, I'm pretty clueless and have never really gotten into the inner workings of smart phones. I never really required much from phones before, so I've never had any real issues that bugged me. Some setting-up-the-scenario info: Since I started seeing info about this phone, I was really intrigued - mainly because of its music capabilities, which is what supposedly sets it apart from the rest. I read and heard SO many good things about it, and I've never had a portable music player work as well as I thought it should. So I took the plunge without having the disposable cash to actually buy a new one. I got a "renewed" one from the big A, and even though it was advertised as a T-Mobile version (which is the carrier I use), I received the AT&T version. It works fine on T-Mobile so I'm ok with it despite the AT&T software on it. The phone works well and is in great condition. But this issue I'm having is frustrating me, and I don't think it's carrier-specific (though I know the different versions can have different limitations on what can be done with them).
Here is the issue, and some of what I've dealt with in trying to research and solve it... Whether using the headphone jack (with or without enabling the DAC) or using Bluetooth or the phone's built-in speakers, songs will skip, stutter, stop and start over, move on to another song and then go back to the previous song, then stop and play an entirely different song. Sometimes it will just put out a string of noise for a second like it's on super fast-forward at a painfully loud volume. Some songs will never play properly, which could be a corrupt file issue, but others will often be fine and only mess up occasionally. None of them seem to be immune to it. This is a problem I'd say 80-90% of the time.
I have a lot of music, and I have it all on an SD card. It's a recent, higher quality SD (Samsung or the like) that's 128 GB. I prefer it that way since I don't want to fill up the phone's storage space. I've seen some posts online about this kind of issue on other phones, but not much usable info. Searching here didn't bring any results. One person with a different phone found a fix by moving his music app to the SD card as well, but alas that doesn't seem to be possible with this phone as there seems to be no way to change the download location to the SD card and I can't move the app from the phone's location for it. I've seen info (for other phones) about using the phone to reformat the SD card as "internal storage" to bypass that, but this phone only formats an SD card to be usable for multiple devices and not as part of the phone's internal storage. I'm in the process of trying to copy all of the music files to the phone's internal storage to see if that helps, but it's far from ideal for me and it's taking forever. I will update if it makes a difference, but I really don't want to do it this way because I won't have room for anything else. I guess if anything it might clue me in to whether the card itself has problems, but I'm optimistically doubtful about that. And maybe once I have the files copied I can reformat the SD card with the phone again, retransfer the files and see if that helps. Also doubtful but maybe? Also, the phone will only transfer the files using the Google files app - not the LG files app. Kind of odd, but whatever.
Oh, and I don't have the dual screen, so that wouldn't be a factor in this (if it could have been).
My questions then are:
1. Has anyone dealt with or heard about this music playing problem, and have any ideas about fixing it?
2. Does anyone know how to change the download location on this phone to the SD card?
I'm super frustrated because I really want to like this phone, and so far other than having generally better sound and being a little faster and nicer to look at I was almost just as happy with the crappy old cheap Huawei I had before. Any help would be much appreciated!
It seems to be an audio player problem rather than a phone issue. Try black player, it works very well with all the V serie, had it on the V20, have it on my V60. And its one of the best and good lookin' player in theplay store. The basic version is free and is fully fonctionnal so you can try it and if it does not resolve your issue, desintall it.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not having any luck and I'm thinking it's either just a lousy phone despite all the great reviews out there, or maybe the AT&T version is what's lousy. I pulled out the SD card and loaded a bunch of music directly onto the phone and sill have the problem. I tried Black Player (which I like), and the problem happened on the first song I played and has happened quite a bit since then too. The files are a mix of formats, all higher-quality, and format doesn't seem to make a difference on whether the issues arise or not. Don't know what else to do.
