About Battery - Optimus One, P500, V General

I am an owner of optimus one for 5 days now and I want to share some thoughts about the battery.
I know that 1500mAH is a very good capacity, but I can't say that I am really satisfied with it.
I have pretty much set everything to drain the least amount of battery, like:
A) 2G only
B) Brightness at 25%
C) GPS off
D) Auto updates all off
E) No background apps that take power and
F) Turn it off at nights.
I get about 2 days and I don't think that this is much.
How much does your optimus one last and what have you done (if anything) to optimize your battery performance??

Mine has the same battery life in the same conditions

Don't think there is anything you can do about it..
I guess all the touchscreen android smartphones are +- the same in terms of battery..
Mine lasts about the same as yours too..

I get (easily) 2 days with 3G on during the day, automatic sync of calendar and contacts & facebook app. I charge it every other night and reboot after charging.

why rebooting after charge?
I believe that 2 days that already a very good range! I mean, "cellphones" today are computers! Even without any background application opened, you always have some services running. It is normal that you can't keep it alive without charging for a weak...

Anyway I think that 2 days isn't to much and it should be better. If I'm not wrong Samsung Galaxy S keeps about 3 days and more. It have AMOLED, but more faster procesor and my phone keeps only 2 days even though I don't use it...

From my experience with mobile phones (from nokia 8310,siemens sl45,nokia 6310i,sharp 903,nokia e51/e52, k810i and now the LG P500) only the E51/E52 would last me more than 1.5days under my usage,so I consider that the lg with all of the services running can keep about 1.5days is very good...

I have a Galaxy S and it barely lasts a day - even with JuiceDefender. I'd be pretty happy to have a 2 day battery life.

Was the battery calibrated properly?
Several rounds of full charge and full discharge.
From what you say, you might have done only 2 or 3 cycles...so maybe it'll improve slightly over time.
Also 2 days is indeed good.
Samsung Galaxy also about 2 days with conservative use. 3 days is probably for highly optimized setups for juice savings, I couldnt achieve that unless I dont use my Galaxy S .

I just found this nice app that allows you to save some battery by throttling the CPU frequency to a lower value when not used: setCPU
get it for free here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
It does require your phone to be rooted, I'm afraid...
Here's another program which promises to do the same, free from the market:

Kinda useless, since O1 kernel already has a cpu governor that switches CPU frequency when it goes in stand by mode

Just got my Optimus... and yes, the battery life is about 2 days with moderate use.
But that seems damn good actually. Considering these are just mini-PCs nowadays. Try running a laptop PC that long on just the battery

I just tried using advanced task manager as a user said in gsmarena..
My battery lasts more one day...but the phone is a little slower too..

I currently have a Galaxy S and my missus has an LG OO what puzzles me about the LG is when you check what drains the battery (which incidently only lasts about a day with both phones) the Galaxy S screen drains about 75% of its battery but on the LG cell standby drains around 80-90% what on earth could be using so much power when in standby. There is very little syncing going on and GPS and Bluetooth etc are disabled.
Any ideas?

Weird. I got mine to last 2 days and still have ~55% battery remaining (which means about 4 days until it's completely off). My config is pretty much the same as the #1 post. I even browsed the web with wi-fi and played some games (for like 2 hours).

How long does your battery last?

Hey guys, I just wanted to know how long the Battery lasts in your Ace.
For example my Ace has to be charged almost every day.
When playing a lil bit or surfing the internet (Wifi/2G) my battery looses 10% or sometimes even more in just an hour.
On the other side, i've heard from other people, who's batterys last almost two days (and they're using their phones, not just standby).
So i'd like to compare my batterytime with you guys .
I'm on KPE (not Villainrom, not yet ^^) and most of the time i get arround 24 hours plus or minus some hours, depending on the daily use.
Charge my ace every day with 70 or so percent left. The phone will probably last a day or two.
Battery:
2.3.3 (KPE) - www,email, games(ex DragRacing, FruitNinja) ~11h
2.3.3 (KPE) - sms, talks ~ 55h (record)
Villainrom (wipe battery) - (2G,synchronization off )www,email, games ~6h
im gettin 3 days with wifi, facebook, games, surfing and took some pics use battery calibrater for these results
how s possible, 55 hours, you didnt use the phone correct?
and about what mr galaxyaceking said; im gettin 3 days with wifi, facebook, games, surfing and took some pics use battery calibrater for these results, how do you calibrate the battery??
there is a app for battery calibration, also im srry i meant 2 days

55h - only talk, zero www,email,etc
A colleague from the forum ..... his record 3d 18h record (image). It would be more, but need to connect phone via USB. He made a few calls and sms.
mine lasts 40-70 hours with 2G only, some wifi internet, games(fruit ninja,fishin2go), talking, and no synchronization. but record is 98 with minimal usage
Mine is sucks...
Sync always on for: gmail, g-reader, contacts, & calendar.
SMS about 5-10 times
Call duration for +/- 15 minutes.
Internet for bworsing without images >.<
Games: doodle frops, frozen bubble, fruit ninja, etc
Discharge @ 07:00 gonna find charger in hurry @ 12:00 something.
ACE battery life for me is sucks!
It almost feels like like there are differenty quality-types of batterys. Some people get arround 2 days while really using it, while some other people can't even get through the day...

Here is my fact:
For using market (downloading with EDGE) and browsing (without loading images) my discharge rate is @ 12% - 15% an hour. You can test by your self.
I dare you to use 3G
How come people said they phone last for 3 days?
It'll happen when you don't use your phone at all. I bet 3 days is 90% standby 10% usage.
When I use GPS( SYGIC ) my phone hardly lasts for about 4-5 hrs (I dont use GPS continuously). When I play games such as scooter hero, angry birds, doodle jump etc and wifi always connected it lasts for about 12 hrs. And one more thing I'm always on 2G.

i agree, i donno how they get the battery life with the kind of usage they have. i use half of it yet it struggles to last 9 hours.
i am thinking of getting those 1500amh battery that are in ebay, a few users have used it and got 2 days worth life with full usage.
@Bluffyone
is it possible to use an other Battery like 1500amh / 1700amh without problems for the hardware?

these batteries are specifically made for samsung ace only and so it is usable
and using the SGS battery in SGA will not work, or does it?
i havent seen anyone doing that so i cant say

Its normal if your ace only last for 10-12 hours if your always on 3g(downloading,browsing,etc) and gaming. I have 3 samsung phones(ace,sgs,wave1) and their battery goes down very fast if I switch on the 3g/wifi and when im playing games on it.
Without 3g/wifi. Around 40 sms a day and few calls my Ace last for 2 days.

What battery life to expect ? Mine runs out pretty soon...

Hi,
What is the battery life we may expect from a Galaxy S2 ? Mine (from fully charged) lasted only 3-4 hours surfing the web using 3G, maybe including some wifi usage, however screen was dimmed down. Isn't the battery supposed to last a little longer ? The phone is new and I am on the third day now. Is there anything wrong with my device or will battery performance improve after some battery cycles ?

Mate 3g browsing on the sgs2 does kill that battery in 3-4 hours max.. that is actually the time scale most reviews give.. i know its a pain i hate it myself, but ull find generally using the phone ie camera, music etc gives you a longer battery. The browser rocks! but its a serious power drinker, i did discover that some sites are saying that using a 3rd party browser helps things abit e.g dolphin or opera. It has something to do wiv the gpu accelaration which enables u to do things like play 1080p videos in the stock browser and the constant smooth perfomance
oh and i found the battery does improve after a few cycles, but i think thats mainly due to the fact u tend to not be constantly playing with the phone al the time
Yep, 4 hours tops for me screen on usage.
Using Juice Defender which helps a bit..
Abouth the battery...
Earlier this evening my phone was at 28%, when i picked it back up an hour later it was 31%????
I watched the battery graph and it showed a Yellow line going upwarts slitghtly., is that strange??
Afterwards i saw green going down and than up again. I will post a pic of it.
Seriously, there are 5+ battery threads already, what is so specific about your case you felt the need to start a completely new discussion on it????
Fully charged this morning, moderate use throughout the day, on 52% now after 16 hours. I'm happy with that.

2% drop in battery over 4 hours with Android OS running at 32%... android OS bug my arse...
I wonder what would happen if people actually used their phones for talking.
I pre ordered this and waiting shipment. I can compare with the atrix i had, that the battery life was not to shabby but it had a 1900mah battery.
You can't expect amazing battery life with this phone
4.3inch screen
AMOLED+
1.2ghz CPU.
if they made the phone a bit thicker a tiny bit they could of put a bigger battery in there but samsung wants to compete with apple on thinest phones.

Battery Life Span

Am envious to those who managed to use their phone for more than a day. I bought this phone for about 2 weeks now and have done the normal full charge for 8 hours on the first time. Since then, I have fully charged twice and let the battery gone flat once. I have flashed Neutrino rom and currently Latveyit rom, and the battery last best 12 hours so far.
I charged the phone to 94% at about 7pm and just made two calls and two text messages. I did a navigation on maps for about 15mins max. By about 11pm, battery is at 57%, I play some games for about 10mins and went to bed, in the morning it's about 35%. I realise that the first 50% really goes fast and after that it's pretty decent until less than 20% and it drains fast again. Background application I have are the normal chat programs, whatsapp, viber, kakaotalk, skype and ebuddy. I have waze running in the background although I think it shuts off after 15mins. I have a mix of wifi and 3g usage, usually on wifi though. Is this normal?
edit: I also have Lookout antivirus running
All your chat programs running in the back ground prevent your device to sleep correctly, they wake it up every time they check if there is a new message.
Try to keep only the apps you use and try for each app to increase the check delay or disable it.
The antivirus does help.
2 weeks is a bit early to make a comment about the battery.
Download Battericalibration from the market and use it every shift rom change.
Read about topic on the forum but not become a maniac in "battery life".
If the screen stays lit for 5-7 hours the battery will be empty in like 7-8 hours. If you only speak 1 hour at it the battery will be empty in 3 days.
All depends on how you use it!
Sorry for bad english.

I thought that the chat programs will only cause problems if there are frequent messages since they're base on push?
2 weeks is early? How does that affect the battery's performance? I thought when it's new, it's most optimum and slowly degrades through time? The screen was off most of the time unless I was doing anything I mentioned or just checking the time which is just on, check then off. I don't think I am paranoid over the battery life, just curious how to get it over a day.

You might try 1Ghz faux kernels as well. They seemed to have helped my battery life considerably.
Chek out what apps you have running in the background and be sure you set youre network yourself (my phone was always changing from 2g to 3g and after i selected the network myself it gave me a 1day + boost .
And you shoud know that the litium polimer batteryes are affected by cold temperatures.
I wish you luck!
I did use cm7 (neutrino) and got about the same battery life span as the current rom (laytveyit), and am currently on the faux 1ghz kernel. Anyway, I will see how it performance in the weeks to come and hopefully the newer version of the rom will improve it. I thought cold temperature helps preserve the battery's life span?
EDIT: Thanks for all the advice!

Lol all those chats are you problem imo
The "standard" apps used to figure out what's eating your batteries are:
BetterBatteryStats: for wakelocks
CpuSpy: to tell if you phone is going into deep sleep or not
Built in Battery Usage: to see a pretty graph and tell what's using the most juice
SystemTuner: I just recently started playing with this, lots of information.
Look up BetterBatteryStats here up XDA. There's plenty of threads on how to use it. Look up wakelocks.

45 minutes battery life

My Galaxy S II (and pretty much any Android evice I've picked up) has a usable battery life of 45 minutes. I unplug the phone at 9 A.M. in the morning after charging it to 100%. By 12 in the afternoon I would have browsed the Internet, checked social apps and played a few rounds of a game for what feels like 45 minutes in total. By then the battery is at 30% and I have to put it away in fear of it dying before I get home. The phone is useless for the rest of the day. My iPhone 4 with its 3 year old battery lasts 2 days like this.
No wakelocks, 99% deep sleep. I have a 3200mAh battery which feels like it lasts 1.5 hours before I have to put it away in fear. Basically the phone is not usable at all due to the user being in constant fear of the battery dying.
If I don't use the phone at all it's down to 20% by the end of the day with no wakelocks and 99% deep sleep. If I don't use my iPhone 4 with its 3 year old battery, it still lasts 20 days.

Yes I use BBS and have completely disabled all bloatware using Autostarts. I have the original battery and the Mugen Power 3200mAh battery. The battery life is proportional to with the capacity of the batteries I've used.
The primary use of my phone is mobile gaming. I don't care about the phone part except for receiving push notifications for email, IMs etc. which I then reply to on the PC anyway.
My SG2 and pretty much every Android device I pick up has 45 minutes of battery... Either you have won the lottery and got a defect phone several times or there is something fishy going on..
My sg3 lasted for 24 hours, my s4 last for a couple of days, my motorola razr lasted a week and my iphone 4 went for a day and sometimes 24 hours..
Even if I stress test my sg4 and s3 all the time it would last for a lot loooonger than 45 minutes..
I know the games will use a lot of juice but 45 minutes? Something is wrong...
What kind of games are we talking about? I do not play so much myself, just online poker, some tetris and so on, my iphone and android phones is pretty similar when talking about these games...
You could go for a Nintendo Game Boy etc
That said I taught ICS used less battery than JB. And it's pretty weird if you have the mugen battery. My Razer had a 3300 battery and that would go for days, even with heavy usage.

I've extensively used the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Nexus One, Nexus S. All of them can be used heavily (3G, gaming) for just 45-60 minutes before the battery is low and you have to save it for the rest of the day.
Simply listening to music for 2 hours in the gym drains 35% battery! WTF? This is without any equaliser and while using an external headphone amplifier. I could listen to music for 2-3 hours a day for 1 week on my old iPod touch before needing to charge it.

Possibly a crap battery, but im going to suggest you don't use the samsung charger. The phone holds a wakelock whilst charging, keeping the phone running at 200Mhz, so unless you are delivering 650mA, your phone will die. Therefore I suggest you are using an unofficial charger, which doesn't deliver the needed 650mA, or you have an unofficial battery which wont accept 650mA. Either way, if you're not using Samsung appliances you shouldn't really be complaining about crap battery.

I am using the original Samsung charger and the original Samsung battery. I have an additional 3200mAh Mugen Power battery.
It drains faster than the charge rate only if I'm playing games.
Could be many things then, but as you say BBS doesnt report wakelocks, it would all just be conjecture. Try and pull a logcat after an hour or so of deepsleep and see if you notice anything untoward. Also, have you done simple things like turn WiFi off when you're not using it? That scans every 15 seconds or something. Or if you're in a crap phone signal area, your phone will keep scanning for and trying to connect to a better signal.

It's the phone obviously. Like I said if I put it in Aeroplane mode than the battery is still at 99% at the end of the day. If it's in normal mode it drains severely. I don't have this problem on any other phone. I've flashed the latest modem for my region and tried older modems for my region as well.
Not sure but it sounds like you have technical issues with your phone.
I have the official Samsung uprated battery and I loose about 60% out of the phone battery a day with heavy usage. Usually doesn't get to that point as I charge at work or home when not in use.
I take it as a given that all smart phones, tablets or laptops have ****e battery life.
Blanket generalisations about specific OS' or brands being superior to others is just silliness.
Saying that, when it comes to battery life, my HP Touchpad running CM 10.1 pisses all over any iOS device and the ghost of Steve Jobs agrees with me!

60% at the end of the day is a joke. It's unacceptable. Without use My iPhone 4 is at 95% at the end of the day with everything switched on and every possible syncing enabled. Why is it so hard for Samsung to produce a properly working phone after 5 years? I am 100% sure their latest phones like the Galaxy S 4 behave exactly the same way no matter what PR bull**** they try to spin.

Seems the iPhone is the device meant for you, for me in normal usage it lasts 2 and a half days altogether with the stock battery, heavy usage like a gameplay of Gamelofts Modern Combat series or N.O.V.A gives me 3 hours of continuous play after which the battery reaches around 7-10%, wifi in JB sadly kills my battery only gets around 6 hour's with continuous usage which was greater in my GB and ICS days.
But 95% at the end of the day for the iPhone 4 with everything ON is a bit of an exaggeration(the hell kind of unremovable battery is that?) don't you think?

Everything on with no use. Thats the drain in standby. My SGS2 drains whether I use it or not with everything on. In aeroplane mode, it stays at 99% without use.

[Q] Battery Problem

Hi
I bought this phone 2 week ago. already when my phone was in sleep with airplane mod , the percent of my battery was instant about 10 hours. but now when my phone is sleep with airplane mod and i dont use it , the percent of battery is decrease about 10 percent in 10 hours. i do factor reset. but the problem was not solved. i guess when i update the phone in update center, this problem was appeared. now the version of my phone is :
android version : 4.4.2
software version: V10c-AME-XX
how i can solve this problem? and how i can to return to my first version software and cancel my update?
Try getting your previous rom and flashing that, it might just work

I don't think Your issue is software-related. I've got my Mini for over a month now, and I was dissapointed about battery life on it's first days. Now I think battery shaped its own and there's no problem with battery at all - it lasts two days with moderate data usage.

How long did it take for the problem to solve itself?
I got my phone about a week ago and I was suprised that it was able to last almost 3 days before charging.
Currently battery life is just terrible (less than 24 hours while phone is practically idle, with low brighntness, disabled gps, wifi and data connection) which is quite strange because since then I have rooted my phone and got rid of bloatware.
I have read somewhere that you shouldn't allow li-ion batteries to discharge fully, unfortunately I did that unintentionally,
Is it possible that a single full depletion managed to damage the battery? Or is it possible that I deleted some crucial app?
Phone's electronics and software will protect the battery, so no worry about discharging.
Did you install any messaging app (WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Tango, Facebook or similar)?
These are draining battery a lot.
No. I don't use those. I even greenified dropbox, pocket and some other apps,
I installed Busybox (I don't know if this is even relevant, honestly I have no idea what am I doing,
I just follow guides to achieve functionality I want )
You may use BetterBatteryStats to find out what sucks your battery.

Or you revert to stock and stop messing around as you had good battery life before as you wrote.

I don't use custom ROM's, after factory reset my phone isn't even rooted. I'll check out BBS soon and post some logs, they might shed some light on the issue. Built in battery usage app shows that most of the battery (30-40%) is sucked by Android OS
Factory reset did help indeed but not for long, battery worked like a charm for 3 or 4 days but problem reappeared.
We lg mini g2 two weeks and never more battery lasted 24 hours on average use. I see that most say the battery should take 2-3 days with average use but to me you is not no day. After 2 hours of Internet browsing still remain less than 50% battery. Is it normal? What will keep you battery continuous internet browsing?

Are you using Google Translator? Because I can barely understand you a little bit. My G2 mini
My smartphone battery does not last 24 hours but I have to admit, I have installed Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Whatsapp, Chrome, Firefox and lots of applications more.

It depends on your usage and brightness settings.
Normally I keep my brightness below 40%.
If I play ingress in the sun with display at 100% brightness I will get the same results as you do.
