Now that we've managed to get into an Android GUI and have a working touch screen driver,we need experienced rom builders to come forward to develop android sdcard based roms.
If you have the experience and would like to get involved, now is the time to step forward and get involved.
Please post here or contact Markinus or myself on the irc #toshdroid channel.
Thanks
Noone? Sad
I would make a request in the general Android Development section bally3. It's not like many Android dev's will be browsing the other sections of typically non-Android phones.

I use Linux all the time at home and work! I now feel how useful it could have been if I spent some time playing with ROM building etc rather than playing with WinMo customizations! I am so following the android on tg01-type threads Will try to spread the word too and see if anyone can come forward to help
Good luck and keep up the good work
Some links of video showing Toshdroid running on TG01.

Hi to all.
What do you think about separate Android roms from WM ???
Is it possible to make a new thread in HD2 section sticked for always ?
Everyone could have this what he need .
Anyone think it's a goog idea ?
For example :
HD2 ANDROID ROM Development ?
Well the real problem right now is that there is no true Android ROM. Yes you can run Android but till it's flashed to the actual phone like you would with a WinMo ROM it's not a ROM.
then name it just "HD2 ANDROID Development"
it would be great if there is an own android section
i agree! all Android Dev together
Yeah set it up like they have in the rhodium forum.
enough threads already exist full of spammers...one more?
why not call it "spam here if u want for hd2 android development"
I think it would work out great having another spot for Android. Soon most people will be running Android on the HD2 anyway. Makes sense
+1
this ended up being a huge help for the development on the TouchPro2 (Rhodium). Someone got mods to create a new forum and then they took the liberty of re-organizing all the builds and kept up with the development and its still running nice and neat.
I think this would be a great idea for the HD2, it is about as far along as it can get now and is already attracting more attention. No need to clutter up the WinMo ROM development forums
+1 Also
This made the HD1 forum better with a separate sub-forum for Android.
What I also think would be a good idea in ALL the forums really is a dedicated ROM release forum where ONLY roms can be posted and no general questons etc. That way you could cycle through the rom list without it been swamped with lots of other posts.
i agree, a subforum dedicated to this imortant issue (android on HD2) would be very useful for the general order of the forum according to me.
the android builds are beeing created and updated everyday (thanks to all the developers) but only two 3ds (in different subforums!) exist...
I found finding info about Andorid confusing so please separate in another forum.
+1 I love this idea.
i sign this good idea +1
+1 For a new subforum for HD2 Android development.
+1 its really necessary

+1 on both ideas !
+1 from me too never got into android for the tp2 but now i have got bored of win mo on hd2 i am enjoying playind with android
+1 here too. It would make life so much easier (and would get rid of people asking for it )
I dunno. There are only really a couple of threads that are relevant, and you can keep up to date with progress on the irc channel.
I seem to be keeping up ok by READING and SEARCHING.
+1 from me, it would make keeping track of things easier, assuming people read what's there instead of posting crap!
Im really interested in learning to develop for the android platform. Are there any programs or books that would help with the process? As of right now im trying to pick up the basic terminology by lurking in the development section of various Android phones.
-Thanks
There are lot of threads like this... try search a bit
To learn application development, it will be good if you have some java skills. I will suggest to visit
developer.android.com
Read through the thread I posted here a couple weeks ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069483
Basically everything you need to get started and compile CM from source.
I gave up after that, damn laziness.
I hope this thread helps you as much as it did me and many others!
I just got my viewpad 10, yea the dual boot tablet, Win 7 HP, and Android 1.5 And I upgraded it from Android 1.5 (cupcake) to 2.2 (froyo) and I still don't have market access or some of the basic functions like live wallpapers, I'm not a Dev at all, but I'm learning and I'm good at hacking. Just attempting to start a form that will help me (and anyone who needs help with this device) take more advantage of the whole point of android. ie different home launchers and apps the cause the device to stand out in a croud. Basicly Im putting this together in hopes that a fourm will be started to advance the development of the device, and teach people (like me) more about computer science and hacking, modding and just helping people do stuff that people want to be able to do.
Just Incredible
Hi DJay,
Chef Central isn't the place to be asking for help, it's a place to discuss what new and cool things you bring to the Android table for development.
If you're looking for a forum to learn, you've definitely found it, but you have to read before you start posting.
Thread is closed, if you have more questions as to why, check out Posting and You

hello all;
i'm a frequent user and supporter of the site, and i have to say i love the site and the people here.
now to more pressing matters i'm trying to find resources and read more and more about linux android development (completely got rid of windows by now ) IT'S USELLESS!!!! to me after a few months of constant linux use. yes linux takes some time, before you figure things out but it's a great OS.
anyways, i've looked in the general developers forum section, and there is just SO many ways that people say you should start (from scratch) and one is contradicting the other (sometimes).... so here is the actual question to the experienced developers out there... where do you guys start ?
little background:
basic C & C++ knowledge
some java.
(i used to tinker mostly with hardware before i dug into android)
any suggestions ??... which guides, sites ?, classess ?? any and all advice appreciated. and i hope it's ok to post this here, and if it's not (mods i'm sorry).
thanks.

I don't think this particular project is active anymore, but I have been meaning to check out the Coding Green Robots series myself:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/coding-green-robots/videos
I think if you have a specific problem with a project you are working on, people on XDA will help you. For a general intro, I think a book would be the best. Also, don't forget about the Android developer website. There's a training section, including "Building your first app": http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html
Howdy everyone!
After using android for a few years (since 2011) and experimenting with a lot of roms and kernels, I am now looking to take the next step: to become a rom/kernel developer!
My problem is, I have no programming or developing experience, AND I don't know any programming language. So I am a complete beginner at that stage.
Therefore I ask you guys, where do I start my journey to become a rom/kernel devloper?
Many thanks for all help!

Good plan... but you are asking in the wrong place. XDA has a number of forums catering for ROM cooking and development. These are Android specific rather than phone specific and therefore far more appropriate than this forum.
Suggest you start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and have a look through the many and varied areas that will help you.

Yes I was debating where to post it..is it possible for a moderator like @Judge Joseph Dredd to move this thread to android q a help and troubleshooting?
Just to avoid another thread about the same...

Install the Android sdk, ADB, Java\Eclipse, and get prepared for lots of reading Set up decompiling and deodexing programs/environments (ApkMultiTool, Tickle My Android, etc) Search in Android General and other subforums, there is a TON of stuff to learn on this site! Entire sections devoted to teaching this kind of thing.
