[Q] windows media client for Android - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've been looking high and low for some client software to pick up all of my media files from my Windows Home Server and stream them either via WiFi or through the web but all I can find is remote controls!
Does anyone know if there is an app for this already or if someone is in the process of creating one?, I used to stream my media using a WM6.5 TP2 and Webguide installed on the WHS, it just doesn't seem to work in Android.
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Your whs site should allow you to stream it, mine does anyway. Of not try orb, but my experience with orb was less than stellar.

Which version of WHS are you running?, I've heard the latest version has the ability to stream but the old server 2003 based system (which I'm using needs software like webguide).

[Q] Is anyone streaming from PC to TV?

I've been at this for a while and have yet to find a valid solution. I know now that DLNA might as well not exist and I've been using a subsonic server with the subsonic app on the market to stream movies and such from my PC to my phone. This works great except it can only be done at my home (not at all over the mobile network). My question is are any of you streaming from PC to phone, then to TV via HDMI? Or streaming at all to phone over mobile network? If so please post what you are using because this feature is basically why I got the phone. In a side note I'm not an amateur with android phones and I have gingerblur running. I figure this question is a longshot and I expect only something like a Cyanogen mod or a future update of gingerblur will make this all possible. Any input is much appreciated.

Streaming application

is there an android application that plays audio via wifi from my laptop(streaming). with this i can control the output to my home theater( connected via my fone).
i used to have one when i used an iphone, but is there an android equivalent
There's many.
Try "orb" and if you don't like it send me a reply and I will help you specify what you need

[Q] Need to control my mp3 playlist on my Android tablet with my Android phone.

I'm using my HP Touchpad running ICS which is hooked up to my audio system in my yard. I'm currently running Skifta to stream all my multimedia to the tablet. It works perfect.
I am now trying to figure out how I could control playlists in real time using my phone (Evo) on my tablet. I can't seem to find a dedicated media server app and remote app combo for Android. This scenario is easily accomplished if I were using a PC instead of a tablet but due to the circumstances I'm not. Anyone know of an app or apps that may let me accomplish this?

"free"
if you want to do remote desktop in WAN, you need to pay $.99 a month or $9.99 a year for the anywhere module. splashtop 1 doesn't have that limit.
almost a perfect remote desktop though..

Can anyone run this without having to change the settings to compatability mode? Video is jerky but the WebOS version is fine so it's not my host PC.
How many months has this limited time been thusfar? Last I checked a free app can't be converted to a paid app, so they're engaging in deceptive marketing. Anyways its clear they've moved to a freemium/add-ons model

got interested in this App from reading this and another thread, so i did some reading.
from what i could gather from some reviews about Splashtop2 & Splashtop HD , people are saying Splash2 free version works better than the paid version of splash HD.
so today i set up my Win 8 PC with the Streamer and installed Splashtop 2 free version on my Touchpad running the latest Cm9 3/24 nightly, i got to say I'm very impressed how nice and easy everything was to install & start using....basically windows 8 on my TP, was kinda freaky at first with navigation & opening files but i got it....watched a DivX movie with no problems....look forward to learning more, i like this App very much.
This is an app I use daily. When I'm too lazy to get off the couch to turn on my media server, i simply log into splashtop and do it all wirelessly on my desktop computer in the other room!
Its an amazing app and an amazing service. I'm considering the anywhere access feature, as it would be nice to access my Windows 8 desktop anywhere I am.

yes it is amazing, they got me snagged hook line & sinker!
I went and took the plunge and bought the anywhere package for a year, set it up on my laptop, net-book and all 4 of my tablets....works flawlessly on my home wifi.....gonna try it on my mobile hotspot tomorrow, sure hope it works as well thru my PHS300 & 4/g dongle.......wondering how much it will eat on my data plan, guess i'll find out.....have a good one.
Let me know if you are able to stream videos from your home network through your mobile connection.

it did connect thru the mobile, but there were a few times the video's lagged & the audio was out of sync....not as good as my home wifi
home wifi = video & music files (excellent)
mobile connection = video (sometimes lagged & audio out of sync), music files played fine.
overall imo, the mobile connect is NOT reliable for streaming video, yet for music files and accessing host PC was very good......i can live with it hehe, guess i have to for at least 1 yr...maybe my settings are not correct....gonna play with it some more.

[Q] Streaming from PC to Android, what app to use?

I'm trying to stream video from PC to my Rezound using the app Emit. Emit will stream on wifi but when I turn 4G on Emit does not work. Anyone know how to fix this or a better app you to use? Just trying to figure out the easiest way to steam from pc to android over 4g and wifi?
You would have to have some sort of server software on the PC to be able to access outside of your home network.
AW: [Q] Streaming from PC to Android, what app to use?
As you got a public ip if using mobile connection, you need software that offers your music in some way. I recommend using ampache for this. Its free, has lots of apps etc. In wifi you can easily just mount your shared folders using mountmanager. After mounting you can usr every android player to create and listen to you music library
