How do I tell what version of android I have? I just see kernel and firmware version in the status
Go to Settings -> About Phone.
If you see "2.1-update1" under Firmware version, then you have Android 2.1. If not, you are still under Android 1.6.
Or 2.2.1 in my case

Hello,
I am new to android... recently brought HTC Hero and updated it using the link provided in the forum but still when i see the firmware it is showing 1.5 not 2.1?
Here what it is showing in about:
Firmware Version: 1.5
Baseband Version: 63.18.55.06eu....
Kernel Version: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Build Number: 2.73.405.5
Software Version: 1.0.0.A6288
Do it is updated to 2.1?
Update: I connected my device to Wifi and it ask me to upgrade to 2.1 and i accepted to do so.... But, even now it is showing 1.5 only as firmware.... What is wrong?????
Nope.. You pretty much answered your own question.
Firmware Version: 1.5
Click to collapse
It's 1.5...
Yes, but i was supposing that it will remain same and some other value such as software version will change after the update... i downloaded the latest build from HTC website then how come it is downloaded 1.5?
Where i can download the .exe for 2.1 so it will update to 2.1....
Thank you
There is no official link available to update ur hero to 2.1 .
The htc update is splitted into two parts and not yet for all users to go.
Be patience.
Is there any deadline when all users will have 2.1?
End of June promised date......

You may be new to XDA but at least you posted your question in the right place. A lot of XDAers who behave and sound like they know what they are doing, don't even follow this rule. So don't worry!
Basically there are 2 ways to upgrade to 2.3.3. One is (1) to upgrade through PC Companion, and the other is (2) to flash pre-rooted version of the ROM.
If you have never used a flashtool or never flashed a ROM before, you should probably go the route (1). All you have to do is to install the PC Companion and connect your X10i to the PC. But you have to wait until an update becomes available for your version of installed 2.1 firmware. Here is something you should take a look at. If you happen to be in the legion where no official 2.3.3 is unavailable now, you may still be able to upgrade anyway if you know how to edit build.prop.
Going through the route (2) is a little more complex than (1) but if you read this or/and this carefully it shouldn't be that difficult.
model no x10i
fw version 2.1-update 1
bb version 2.1.54
kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
build no 2.1.A.0.435
what should i do to update?
Download the flash tool.
Doiwnload the firmware.
Flash.
Hi,
I have a Xperia Neo MT15i with 2.3.3 android version. The last version of android market is 3.1.5 (http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...nd-weve-got-the-apk-fresh-from-the-internets/) and I have 2.3.6 version so I'm curious to know what is your market version.
The procedure https://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?answer=190860 don't work for me.
Thanks
I'm too with the 2.3.6 version, it seems that the automatic update don't work for us. I heard that the 3.x version is a bit too slow compared to the old, so I keep the latter until I can
Had my market upgrade to 3.1.3 in 2.3.3. It just did it on it's own after I flashed German Generic FW yet again. Now am on 2.3.4 and I guess it's Nordic and back to old 2.3.x market.
2.3.x is the latest 'real' market,
the 3.1.x is beta and very slow...
if you want the beta just install this .apk
http://www.mediafire.com/?ds2v6t2w9e2s0dj
Thanks for your answer, I'm in no hurry so I will wait
3.1.5 here and it's not that slow. This is the version that came with 2.3.4 anyway.

Hi all,
I have Samsung Galaxy 5 i5503 with Android 2.1 Eclair vesion as OS, and the mobile was bought in India. So, there was no update to Froyo from Samsung.
Recently I have upgraded it to Froyo on my own using ODIN Multi Downloader.
Details:
Model number: GT-I5500L
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: I5500LUYJP2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #2
Build Number: FROYO.UYJP2
I have completed the process, but have some issues like too much usage of battery (hardly stays for 1 day), bluetooth file transfer not working, some applications are not even showing but are installed and can open only through the below process
Market->My Apps->[open Application]->[click on Open]
Now, i want to downgrade ti back to Android 2.1, but could not find a way after searching in google for sometime (May be I was a bit stressed out about thinking of this issue and could concentrate on it).
I need help (steps) on downgrading or doing a fresh copy installation of Eclair on my Samsung Galaxy 5 i5503. I also need the links for downloading the original version which was given to me by Samsung earlier. I am from India.
So, please help me out. Let me know if you need any further information
Thank you,
Vamsi
